It was years ago that the immortals came, covering the earth in darkness and spreading the curse of undeath across the land. Though the armies of undead quickly conquered most of the land, the city of San Miguel, with its Solar Tree, stands against their threat. The power of the Tree repels the undeadening, but still the immortals gather around the city, hoping to strike the tree in a moment of weakness. Only San Miguel's order of Solar Warriors, armed with weapons that channel the power of the sun itself, can defend against their attacks - and someday, launch a counterattack.
---
Bokura no Taiyou, or Boktai, is a series of games for the Game Boy Advance and one distant sequel for the DS, involving using the power of the sun to fight immortals. Unfortunately, it didn't catch on well, since the method of using the sun involved actually going outside and using the light of the sun on a sensor on the cartridge to increase the sunlight in the game. Most people who have heard of it probably know it mostly from crossing over with the Megaman Battle Network/Rockman EXE series. Still, the gameplay, which involved an interesting combination of stealth and action with some cool weapons and abilities, was fun, and I find the lore interesting enough that I'd like to take a crack at it. Players would play as the Swordsmen, Gunmen, Mages, and Alchemists of the Solar Order of San Miguel, fighting off undead attacks and taking the fight to the Immortals in their domains surrounding the city. Of course, it's possible for a few players to function in other roles, and there are a few twists that make the setting a little less straightforward, but that's the basic idea. How does that sound?
This is just one idea I have... If I run a game it will only be one, and i may prefer to try Rockman Wave World or something (which has a possible boktai subsetting anyway) I dunno. Still, opinions?

I like the general premise, especially after everything you passed along to me info-wise. I definitely have a better grasp of the setting in general, and a few of the sides.
On the other hand, I did also enjoy the Rockman Wave World idea long ago. Sad it didn't go anywhere at the time, but if a reboot came up, i'd have to consider concepting new stuff to work with. Either way, i'm cool with both ideas!

For the purpose of this game, players would take the role of members or close allies of the Solar Order of San Miguel. You'd have a choice of a fighting style (different kinds of weapons and guns, or something else), whether your character has magical or alchemical talent or is just a warrior, and there's a possibility of having an elemental spirit as a familiar. The warriors would have to deal with undead attacks on the city, and also launch attacks on the immortals immediately surrounding the city, who have set up domains where they control the weather and sunlight with imprisoned elemental nature spirits called Terrennials.
While the setting is post-apocalyptic, the tone of the game should not be terribly dark, though there are secrets to uncover about both the immortals and also the order of solar warriors itself. It would be possible for new players to join or players to leave between missions, if they have few or no loose plot threads. I'm not in a hurry to start so if people have more questions or other reasons they can't do anything now, that might not be that much of a problem.

Having heard some "I Dunnos" and "Not nows" in the chat and stuff, I'd just like to hear from everyone who might have interest at a later time (and when) and if there's anything that would make it easier to decide.
If you're concerned about posting density, it would probably be pretty low because I'm not the fastest writer, and like I said, it can kind of break up by missions.

As I said, I'm up for it...
Regard post density, you may have noticed that the post rate is kinda slow compared to the average 10 pages each night we got elsewhere, so really don't worry about it...

I haven't actually gotten around to doing more than skimming the OP but I could be up for this (not before the end of June, though after that would prolly be okay). Out of interest, is there any room for characters with support/healing capabilities?

There is definitely room for a healing and support role. Most Mages and Alchemists tend toward support roles and there are other ways to do it too.

Playing the games shouldn't be necessary, I'm spinning it with some original stuff anyway. I am still working on a proper signup topic that should have most of the information people will need in it.
