"Hey, guys"
'Guys?' Raphael thought inwardly as he cast a look back as Edwin approached. Like clockwork, the others werre slowly coming together now for the honoring of their departed friend. While he didn't understand what he meant about the comment, he nonetheless raised his hand and waved as Edwin approached. "It's that time again, I guess. I wish we didn't have to keep doing this over and over again, though. It never gets any easier." Raphael signed softly, looking down at the flowers in his hand awkwardly. Almost as depressing as visiting the grave of their former friend was the meeting of everyone he tried to keep his distance from... Fortunately, some made it just a little more bearable, as Melody soon arrived, giving Edwin a him and hug, bringing out one of his warmer smiles.
"Edwin! Raph! Hey! How's it going?"
"H-hey Mellie, it's been a while... Not much, i've been doing my usual thing. Boxing some days, modeling others. Shattering peoples images and expectations of me." Raphael smiled, using his free arm to hug her. It was difficult to try and keep himself feeling depressed now, the life of the group was present now... Or at least one of them. If they were here now, it wouldn't be long before the others followed along. That would only mean one thing for him-
"Sup, guys. It’s always great seeing the gang getting back together again!"
That voice... "I know that voice... Terrence!" Raphael grinned as he saw Terrence stride into view to greet him and the others. Another particular source of life for the party, he remembered his constant pose-offs with the man. Whether it was out of a terminal case of machismo, a need to prove who was better than the other, or if it was just another way for the duo to communicate, they had a blast with it all the same. He was about to walk over and shake his hand, but when he called out for 'Rei', he stopped and quirked an eyebrow, before he looked toward the indicated tree. After a few moments, when it seemed like the jig was up, she finally stepped out and spoke.
"Hey guys. How have you all been?"
"Ah... Hello there, Rei." Raphael spoke, unable to keep his cold demeanor in the presence of the others. It wasn't that none of them didn't know about it, but more that... While everyone was there, he couldn't find it in himself to mope and feel bad, and by extension, he couldn't bring himself to let his disapproval of her presence there cloud his judgments. At the end of all of it, she was still apart of their group irregardless of what happened. He nodded his head in acknowledgement of her presence but said nothing else, finding his attention pulled by Terrence... Was it that time?
"Ohoho… someones looking pretty spiffy over there. If I didn't know any better I'd think you were trying to show me up. But… We all know that's impossible."
It most certainly was.
Raphael smirked, the setting sunlight gleaming off his glasses as he lowered his head slightly, smirking. "Ah, my good friend Terrence, you wound me with such accusations! However, you are correct about it being impossible." he smirked, flinging his arms back as if to stretch, which pressed his chest to the tux and caused part of the chest to pop outward slightly and open his tux by sheer force of what could only be assumed was fabulousness, before he raised his free hand to his face. Fingers spread, he peered through the spaces to stare down his friend. "I don't need to try." It was all but assured victory for him, between his exposed chest and bedroom eyes before the setting sun behind him. However, the arrival of the last of their group ceased any remaining moments of lighthearted fun.
"Too bad not all of us share that same sentiment."
Almost immediately he dropped the pose, beginning to compose himself now. He used his free hand to start fixing his partly undone tuxedo, seeing his childhood friend Laurel arrive. Much like him, the passing of time since losing their old friend had not helped them much, but for her, it hurt the most. She was more than just a friend to Kale, and losing him was far more damning to her than it was to anyone else. She had spared them all a greeting... Everyone except Reiko. He knew exactly why, but he couldn't bring himself to comment about it. He coughed slightly to clear his throat after making himself more presentable, raising his hand to wave to Laurel. "Hello Laurel." It was all he could say, as he was trying to keep himself from ever standing out in her life ever since this happened. However, their group composition made it almost impossible to ever truly separate himself from them. As expected, Laurel's hostility towad Reiko became apparent, and was now getting ready to leave. Raising a hand to his tie, he adjusted it slightly and looked away, not exactly wanting to stop her, but not quite approving of her leaving either. She had a right to be here too... Even if he'd yet to forgive her.
"So, uh, have you guys been hearing the things on the news? There's been some rumours about digimon returning. I wonder... I wonder if our partners might come back soon?"
A subject change! It was all he needed for the awkward air to clear out. Sighing softly, he looked to Edwin. "I hadn't kept up very well, but it sounds off from the get-go. We haven't really been able to do much about them because... Well, you know." Raphael hummed, lowering his head for a moment to consider things, before he lifted his head once more. "So then, how have we not heard more about them? We have supposed sightings and such, but... Where's the destruction? I'm happy there's nothing about casualties, but I can't help but wonder how exactly they're being handled while we don't have our digimon." he finished, moving to the grave of Kale and crouching to leave his flowers before it, standing up to pocket his hands a moment later.

Everything was as it should be. No more moping, no more awkward silence, no more depressing thoughts, just smiles and shenanigans. It felt good being awesome. On top of everything they would finally have the entire crew together again with his ousting of Rei. There were only two left and it’d be odd if those two didn't show up, though one in particular might pose a bit of a problem. Eh, he'd cross that bridge when she got there. With everyone happy and playful there was no way she could come in and just dump on the mood, right?
Turning to acknowledge Edwin, Terrence responded, "I admit that this is true. But there can be only one." His attention shifted again as Raph began speaking. Was it time?
"Ah, my good friend Terrence, you wound me with such accusations! However, you are correct about it being impossible. I don't need to try."
Witty banter? Check. Subtle challenge? Check. Fabulous pose? Triple check. IT'S TIME!
Placing a hand to his chest and allowing his opposite side to lean back from the touch he gave Raph a faux affronted look. His gaze shifted to Edwin, as if asking could he believe this heresy, then back to Raph. "I hope you know, this means war." He prepared his comeback pose while mentally smirking, thinking to himself, 'Operation: Doom the Gloom is officially-'
"Too bad not all of us share that same sentiment."
'ruined…' Laurel’s appearance seemed to suck the life out of everyone. Raph immediately disengaged from their pose off and Rei seemed ready to leave. Luckily, Melody and Edwin were there to prevent that so he could focus on Laurel. He watched sadly as she knelt down at the memorial trying to figure out how to cheer her up. Nothing he could think to do or say ended favorably in his head. He had no doubt anything he did at that particular moment would make her angry, which was better than somber and depressed but still counterproductive.
"So, uh, have you guys been hearing the things on the news?"
Thank you, Edwin! He could feel a headache coming on and a subject change was the prefect distraction from everything. He shoved his hands in his pockets before responding to Raph, ”You know how wonky time is in the digi world, we still don't know how long we were actually there. Who knows, maybe the ‘digi powers that be’ decided to pick some new kids to save the world. Or, ooo, what if there's an age limit. Like, ‘we only want teenagers with attitude not young adults in dire need of stress relief’” He quickly tacked on with a shrug, ”I realized how that sounded about halfway through but decided to roll with it anyway.”

"Hey, Laurel..." Even though she greeted the final member of their group with a cheerful note in her voice, Melody couldn't help but wince at the familiar, icy notes. She could never stop holding on to the hope that Laurel might forgive Rei, that her eyes might one day be opened to the fact that Reiko was truly repentent for the evil she'd done in the past... but it seemed that this wasn't to be the day. "Please, let's not..."
As Mellie had known she would, Reiko tensed, clearly made uncomfortable by her former friend's coldness - and justifiable enough. Laurel had barely even acknowledged her existence. Mellie could only imagine what pain Reiko was going through, having to bear such treatment by one who had formerly been close to her heart. She gave Reiko's hand, still resting in her own, a gentle squeeze as a silent indicator her support.
Thanks to Edwin's intervention, the awkwardness of the situation was somewhat ameliorated as the others began to discuss the potential return of the digimon. Mellie's heart skipped a beat as she imagined seeing Beatrice again, after all these years. How happy they would be when they were finally reunited!
"Pfft c'mon Terr, we're too young to be too old," she snorted at Terrence's suggestion. Naturally the fact that she had less than a year left of being a teenager was terrifying, but she did her best not to think about that too much. "And sure, Edwin! I know we'll be seeing Loki and Bea and the others again real soon... I can feel it." She meant it, too. She'd never given up hope, since the day they left the Digital World, that it had been not a farewell, but rather a 'see you later'.

But why did they even have to be here in the first place? Why did Kale have to die? They were just kids, had not even begun to live and they were forced to bare such a heavy burden on their shoulders. Yet miraculously they had managed to pull it off but obviously not without having to endure some dire repercussions with the lost of one of their friends and other casualties from that battle three years ago here in the city. As she pondered that, her amber eyes drilled her stare into the plaque reinforcing the image that will remain in engraved in her memory for the rest of her life. They always said that no one ever forgets their first love. For Laurel it would be impossible to. Not with the image of is chest being split open with the ground stained in his blood.
Just remembering the sight caused her to wince with a sharp gasp as she shuffled back on her knees. The gruesome visage at least managed to break her from her trance; there was the small feeling of relief that rolled over her. Craning her neck, she looked back over her shoulders at the others. She had seen them when she had arrived but at least now their faces were no longer viewed blurred with only Kale's memorial remaining sharp in the visage. She glanced over to Raph as the blonde knelt to place his own bouquet on the grave, letting her eyes linger on him. All it could do was stimulate memories of happier times, even before the digital world when it had been him, Reiko and herself. A small circle of friends that had grown to expand and include Terrance, Melody and Edwin...and suddenly they had drifted apart, only to be reunited by this. There had to have been better ways to keep contact with each other. Lunchdates? Going to the movies or to Coney Island for a day? Not mourning their lost comrade.
Laurel truly did miss them but considering the cold shoulder she had just delivered, she found it best to remain where she was and just allow them to continue their conversation at hand. News reports about the return of digimon. Then the glimmer of possibility that their own digital companion would be making a reappearance. Laurel's hand came to rest over her heart. To see Hawkmon again would shine so much light on what had been three melancholic years. Finally, she stood back to her feet, using her hands to smooth out the wrinkles of her skirt and folding her arms over her chest.
"Let's not throw around the word 'old' around here. We haven't even finished college left." She finally interjected in the conversation. "There's still so much debauchery to indulge in and mistakes to make before true adulthood forces us to get our mess together." A small smirk curled upon her lips; a trademark of hers that was rarely seen these days. It had somewhat messed up the particular dynamic between the three girls of the group had before. Mel the fun but sweet, Rei the calm and capable and Laur the fun and flirty one. If only Laurel could get past Reiko's treachery....it was a new personal goal to work on. For now, she wasn't trying to be labeled the emotional leech of the group although as she tried to relax and play face, there seemed to still be something churning within her.
"By the way..." she held up a finger pointing at her side to Raph and then to Terrance. "First of all, those poses...if I could grade them, I'd probably give a C+. Honestly, you two looked like a boy who has come to terms with his rainbow and are just vogueing in front of the mirror. It was pretty cute and entertaining though so I will give you that." Her smirk eased into a teasing smile.
A draft kicked up, sending her coat waving in the wind along with a few strands of her hair being blown loose. It was rather unexpected considering how still the air had been. Except soon after the draft a fog had begun to roll in; something far too ominous and that had definitely not been in the forecast for tonight. The thing about this fog was that she knew all too well of the phenomenon. The ghostly smoke that rolled in out of no where were frequent here in the city three years ago. Knowing that much made Laurel turn her eyes upward to see a small apparition; a slight tear in the sky...almost like a grid of lights flickering.
"Is that...?" her eyes squinted and instantly she reached within her coat pocket to pull out a pair of shades to place over her eyes for clearer vision. "Oh my god..." Hey eyes widened behind the dark frames as she witnessed the shadowed figure shrouded in the mist. It towered over the group at least 10-15 ft and the unmistakable sound of a growl reached her ears, along with the audible SHHHHNK of a blade being unsheathed from the other side of the group by another figure slightly smaller at around 8ft but still larger than group of gathered young adults.
The growl soon became a bellowed roar as the larger figure could be seen raising it's arm. Laurel didn't even think as instinct took over. The girl sprinted and using the force of her own body weight as she threw herself into Reiko who in-turn fell back into Terrance. As the three rolled several feet across the ground as large brown furred fist came smashing into the earth, cracking the ground where Reiko once stood. The body attached to the hand stepped from the shroud of the Digital Field revealing it's identity as a Wendimon who turned it's blood lusted glare towards Laurel, Reiko and Terrance. The other monster, Musyamon leaped from the shroud eyeing Raph, Mellie and Edwin with it's blade raised and poised to strike.
((OOC: I was told by Tailer to move things along a little bit in my post along with splitting them team into groups of three so...bam! Digimon have emerged, let your characters react as you will.))

Reiko gave a warm smile to Edwin as he greeted her. But she still kept on edge when Laurel was there. Everyone seemed welcoming--Laurel's coldness seemed to be so distant. Even Raph wasn't about to kick her out. She felt an added relief when Melody reminded her, with a squeeze of her hand, that she was indeed welcome.
Reiko even laughed a bit at Raphael and Terrance began striking poses with one another. Then, Edwin made mention of the digimon.
Reiko felt her heart sink for a moment as she thought of Renamon. It had been so long--and she didn't feel she had enough time to truly get to know the Digimon. She would have loved to have seen her again. She wondered how she was--was she well?
The group seemed to be clicking again--maybe there was hope for them after all? For some time, Rei had seen these gatherings as more of a chance for the group to get together, rather then spend a lot of time mourning their lost friend. It was in remembrance of Kale, but it was really about maintaining their companionship.
She stepped away from Melody to try and move slightly closer towards Kale's memorial, wishing to say a few words herself, but kept them to herself.
However, she paused when she heard Laurel yell. Suddenly, the sky seemed to be tearing open. "Is that...?" Rei began, before everything seemed to shift in a matter of moments. Before Reiko knew it, Laurel threw herself into Rei, then into Terrance. The three tumbled away, rolling down the side of a small hill.
A large, furry hand burst from the tear, clawing at their previous position. In seconds, two separate, digital fields broke free. They were separated from one another, and now faced with a rather threatening digimon looming overhead.
Rei's attention had been so focused on the Weindimon before them, she hadn't realized that she had a leg on either side of Terrance, and was sitting atop his stomach, with her hands forward, one pressing his face down into the dirt. "Is that really a digimon?" she asked, before realizing her position. "Terrance! I'm so sorry," she muttered, trying to maneuver off of him.
Almost as soon as she began helping him into a seated position, the Wendimon drug his large hands in the dirt. With a might roar, he drew his fist back, before swinging it down into the ground before them. An aftershock followed, breaking through the dirt like a shockwave. The trio was thrown back again as specks of dirt and grass rained on top of them.
"Tamers... must... die!" the digimon roared, before preparing to charge at them. How could they possibly defend themselves like this?
((OOC: Yay trouble! Try to not get killed. Humans can get tossed around a bit, but they aren't superhuman by any means--but adrenaline can help. Try to strategize!))

For some reason in the middle of Raph and Terrence's pose-off, Edwin felt himself sweat a little. Despite the fact it was a chilly autumn evening. He wiped his sleeve on his forehead, hoping it wouldn't be too noticeable.
He was glad that his changing the conversation seemed to provide everyone the distraction they needed. The sightings of digimon. Although they simply made more questions to be answered. But he was glad to see even Laurel seemed to be joining in their conversation, grading Terrance and Raph's performances. Edwin snickered.
The young man pondered Raph's question about why there was no destruction this time around. He folded his arms as he thought, rubbing his chin with his hand.
"It's hard to say really" he said eventually. "I think that either the digimon that appearing are more tamer this time around, like, they know if they cause trouble then they'll be in for it. Or... maybe it's because this time around, the government might be prepared for them?"
That was the only logical thing Edwin could think of. If the government just did nothing and pretended it would all go away forever after the events of three years ago, then it would be viewed as one of the worst governments ever and would never be re-elected. It only stood to say that they would have been doing everything in their power to find out about digimon, and, neutralise the threat. Edwin was a little worried that they would have captured Loki if he did end up coming here.
He smiled as Melody said that she was sure they'd see Loki and Bea again soon. "Yeah, you're right" he said, remembering his old friend. "I'd bet that Loki would have been working to find a way back ever since we became separated"
Then, suddenly, the wind picked up. Edwin could see a fog rolling in over them. He became somewhat nervous. This didn't feel natural. It felt... wrong somehow. Lights flickered. A small tear appeared in the sky.
"What's going on?" he asked, quietly. He saw a shadow moving through the fog, and heard the sound of metal scraping on metal, like a sword being drawn. Well, it didn't set him on edge quite as badly as the sound of a gun being triggered, but he'd been around digimon enough to know that this was bad news.
"Now? Why now?" he asked, controlling his breathing, hoping he would not burst into a panic. Then he heard a roar behind him, followed by the sound of Laurel pushing down Rei and Terrance, pushing them out of the way of a Wendigomon's attack. "Two of them?!" he gasped in horror.
Then he turned back to the digimon that was eyeing them with malice. Edwin saw that it was a Musyamon. A swordsman digimon.
Edwin really had no idea what he could possibly do against a digimon armed with a sword. He wasn't the type that carried around a gun (even if he did he was pretty sure that was kind of illegal in New York). What could he do? What tools did he have?
Well, perhaps he could simply ask the digimon what he wanted? Digimon were intelligent after all.
"What do you want?" he asked the Musyamon, stepping forward a little so his attention was focused on him.
"Hmph. 'What do I want' the human asks" the Musyamon asked, scowling at him, not lowering his weapon. "Have you any idea how much chaos my village has gone through since you humans visited? Half the digimon want to be a pet-slave to a human now! They show no respect for the old ways, simply looking up at the sky and waiting for one of you pests to show up and whisk them away so they can have some sort of fairytale adventure. It's disgusting! So I will make you pay for the defiling of our ways!"
"It's not our fault!" Edwin said, loudly, taking a step back. "Just because you haven't been able to convince your youth that your ways are better than what they want doesn't mean we wanted that to happen-"
"Bold words indeed" Musyamon said, advancing menacingly. "Let's see if you're still talking after I'm done with you!"
"Guys... what do we do?" Edwin asked Terrance and Mellie. He was better at strategy, not tactics, and this was kind of a worrying situation for him.

Mellie gulped as she found herself in a situation that was all too familiar - facing down an enemy monster which was much bigger than her, with far more strength, speed and sheer weaponry than she could ever hope to match. Only this time, Beatrice and the other Digimon weren't here to protect her. It was almost like living in some ghastly nightmare, being helpless to defend herself against a Digimon attack.
It had all happened so quickly. How was it possible that Digimon were back here on Earth? Was it a coincidence that they'd just so happened to strike at the very time and place that all of the former Chosen had gathered together? And if these Digimon were here, did that mean that Bea and the others could be on their way too?
"W-wait!" As the Musyamon advanced forwards, sword at the ready, Mellie knew with a sinking heart that there was no way that they could hope to beat it. During her time in the Digital World she'd seen how fast and deadly these creatures could be, and even with Bea's help they'd been tough opponents. Three humans against an Adult level had no chance.
But it seemed like Musyamon at least had enough sense to explain the justification of the attack. If she could only keep him talking, maybe the others would have a chance to get away. "Please... we don't have to fight. I'm sorry that our actions led to the disruption of your village, but violence isn't the answer... We can talk about this."
She walked forwards to stand in between Musyamon and the other humans, her palms stretched out placatingly, attempting to keep her voice at a gentle, soothing level - but unable to keep the quaver of fear out. She hoped that the others would see what she was trying to do, and take the opportunity to get away while they could.

"It's hard to say really. I think that either the digimon that appearing are more tamer this time around, like, they know if they cause trouble then they'll be in for it. Or... maybe it's because this time around, the government might be prepared for them?"
"That's our best guess at this point. As much as i'd like to believe they're alot more tame this time around, there wouldn't be reports of trouble on the down-low if that was the case. If the government's involved though... I wouldn't put it past them to try and do everything they could to make sure repeats of the past don't occur... And I mean everything." he frowned, folding his arms. It was food for thought right now... If it was the government doing this, then how? What were their methods? His further thoughts on the subject were washed away as soon as Laurel decided to comment on his and Terrances' posing.
"By the way... First of all, those poses...if I could grade them, I'd probably give a C+. Honestly, you two looked like a boy who has come to terms with his rainbow and are just vogueing in front of the mirror. It was pretty cute and entertaining though so I will give you that."
Well, the good news was that she was at least back to normal for the moment. The bad news... Was her criticizing them?
"Excuse me, what? That was at least B+ from the both of us! Come on, if you have the audacity to say that was C+ material, then you've never done any serious, competitive, or even friendly posing. This, right here, is manly posing." Raphael grinned, fixing his glasses as he look to Laurel, before pocketing his hands. "You can't just go and criticize us without knowing the finer points about how and why we do what we do." he added, rubbing the back of his neck. Given he did quite a bit of modeling, to hear his work was a C+ disheartened him a little, but he also knew it was in good fun and because some of their poses looked a little unorthodoxed. Nevertheless, he looked back to Terrance and nodded, happy to keep up the rivalry at any time in the future. However, the festivities would soon be spoiled as fog seemed to roll in. It almost looked natural... But when it built up more, Raphael narrowed his eyes.
"Tch... This can't be happening right now." he grimaced, as Laurel moved to save Reiko and Terrance, prompting him to turn and look toward the other creature that had shown up to inconvenience them. This did not need to be happening right now, least of all here. They had no partners whatsoever... How were they expected to defend themselves? Edwin seemed to have the idea to try diplomacy at least...
"What do you want?"
"Hmph. 'What do I want' the human asks. Have you any idea how much chaos my village has gone through since you humans visited? Half the digimon want to be a pet-slave to a human now! They show no respect for the old ways, simply looking up at the sky and waiting for one of you pests to show up and whisk them away so they can have some sort of fairytale adventure. It's disgusting! So I will make you pay for the defiling of our ways!"
At this, Raphael winced and shook his head. He could already see where this was going. The only problem was-
"W-wait! Please... we don't have to fight. I'm sorry that our actions led to the disruption of your village, but violence isn't the answer... We can talk about this."
"Mel, you're a nice girl, trust me, but you're trying to justify pacifistic actions to a creature with a sword twice your size who lives for battle. If you've never seen a samurai before, there's a reason their era sort-of died out, and this... Is one shining example as to why." Raphael spoke, reaching to take his glasses off and slip them into his blazer's chest pocket. Reaching for his tie, he loosened it up a bit before gesturing to the Musyamon. "Excuse me, but you're talking to the wrong people about this. We did our best to help your world but we didn't do it without casualties. Right now, you're standing in the wrong place for battle, so if you want to fight, we can do it somewhere else so as to not disrespect the dead resting here. If you're a warrior with some sense of compassion, you should be able to honor a request at least that much." he spoke, before looking to Edwin and Mellie. None of them were ready to handle a situation like this, but of the three of them, he was the most likely to get physical when it got down to it.
"Hey, Edwin, think you can find us a good area around here to minimize casualties? Assuming there are government officials who deal with this, maybe keeping it somewhere they can see will pulls our necks out of this fire... Ideally not in a place with others." he whispered, before looking at Mellie. "I appreciate what you did, but if words could end conflicts, we probably wouldn't be here right now. We just got faced with the wrong problem to try talking our way out of, don't let it discourage you." he nodded, before turning his attention.
"Could really use Akasha here right about now..." he trailed off.

The inhuman Wendimon gave a wild roar. His hand swept through the ground, tearing up dirt and grass, showering it on the trio. His claws clung to the dirt, and he drew in a deep breath. "Destroyed Voice!" he bellowed, before his jaw opened widely.
A defening screech rang out, pushing into the trio of former Chosen. Reiko, Terrance, and Laurel went flying back. They bit the dirt a second time. Reiko felt every bone in her body ache from the throw. This was a digimon--there was no way around it.
Reiko pushed herself up by her arms, looking at the approaching Wendimon, as it seemed to be preparing another attack. "Terrance, Laurel... are you guys alright?" Reiko glanced back, grimacing as she could see her comrades in little better shape than she was. And what was more--where were the others?
Reiko could have sworn she had seen two come through the strange portal. Reiko could have sworn she heard their voices not far away--as if they were trying to yell back at the digimon. Trying to talk to it? "Who sent you?" Reiko asked suddenly, knowing that a digimon as uncontrolled as Wendimon couldn't have done this himself.
"Wendimon... kill Chosen!" he snarled, preparing to charge forward again.
Dammit, Reiko thought.
They were faced with a digimon?
Why now?
How?
A million more questions ran through Reiko's head at that moment, but only one was clear in her mind. Her eyes clenched tightly as she could feel Wendimon's heavy feet rocking the ground with every step. "Renamon... where are you?" the girl whispered to herself.
In an instant, a burst of soft, blue light suddenly came from her side. Laurel and Terrance gave off a similar glow. They drove back the Wendimon, briefly. The large creature stumbled. The trio's devices fired off the colors, along with three more on the other side of the park. There was one that fired off from the distance--no doubt from their last member who hadn't made it to the memorial.
The seven points of light twisted together, before bursting into the sky. A tear suddenly formed, high above. Despite the danger in front of them, Reiko couldn't help but to look upward. The tear expanded, and a flurry of light burst from it.
One of those forms took the shape of a fox--and Reiko knew that form. As it was still glowing in a bright light, a fierce foot struck Wendimon in the jaw, sending the digimon away from the trio. The glow faded as a yellow fox stood before the trio, her back to them.
Reiko could feel her heart in her throat.
"R-Renamon?" The fox's head turned slightly, her familiar, icy blue eyes met with Reiko's briefly. Reiko felt an overwhelming joy and relief to see her old friend. Appearing at her side were the partners of Terrance and Laurel.
"Reiko," the fox nodded. "We heard you calling for us." the fox said, and Reiko knew at that moment--they would all be fine.
Renamon adopted a fighting position as the Wendimon got back to his feet. The massive digimon seemed ready as ever for a fierce battle. The fox smirked as she sized up her opponent. "Simple." she spoke.
((OOC: YAY, mons! Okay, have your mon show up from the tear in the sky, and immediately stand between you and the enemy mon. Sorry I skipped you Delt, but I saw you were busy--you can just recro-react to previous posts.
So have your mons launch an attack by the end of your post, because combined attacks are the secret to success. Side note: I changed Reiko's color because this one's better.
Also, the user of Faith will be BT's kid. He'll introduce the guy soon.))

Edwin agreed internally with Mellie that without their digimon partners, the only realistic thing they could do was try to bargain with him verbally. However, he realized that he was not very good at that. Usually when a situation like this occurred, he'd just digivolve Loki and advise strategy from the sidelines. A tactic that had allowed him to survive for this long, but, kind of useless without his partner.
"'Talking' about this issue is precisely what brought about the destruction of culture within my village in the first place!" Musyamon snapped. "I know how you humans operate now... you would have me sit down and explain how your way of life is just so much better than that of digimon... all part of your aim to turn us into your little pets to do your bidding!"
Edwin cringed internally. Was... was this how other digimon viewed the relationships they had as chosen? Was Loki being shunned and punished for his association with humans back home? Oh god it was awful to think about.
On the other hand, Raphael spoke to him in a more direct manner. Edwin felt that Musyamon would probably need a Senzu Bean for that one. And it seemed so did the enemy digimon, whose eyes widened, and it seemed an expression of guilt spread across his face momentarily, before he shook his head and advanced menacingly. It seemed Raphael's words had made him decide to shut out all speech from them.
Then Raphael asked Edwin if they might be able to lead him away from onlookers so they would be able to minimize casualties. That, Edwin felt, was something they could do. Well, he was already angry, and Edwin knew the reason why, so, he decided to stoke that.
"Mellie, Raph, after I say this, we should run into the trees and hopefully split up" he muttered to his friends. With that, he turned and spoke to Musyamon.
"You know what? Yeah. That's what we want to do!" Edwin shouted at him. "And we're going to turn on the machine that would mind-control you digimon into our pets right now!"
With that, he turned and ran into the park to the north, away from any onlookers that might be watching them in the playground, and of course, away from the precious plaque by which they remembered Kale.
All very logical, but at the same time, very stupid. Edwin had forgotten just how fast digimon could move. And how devastating their attacks could be.
"Not so fast! Shiratori-Maru!"
Edwin cried out and ducked down as Musyamon's sword slashed. A blade of air shot through the trees over him, sending branches and twigs flying as they were severed. The attack wasn't quite enough to start cutting trees, but, enough for Edwin to get the message that he was in deep digisludge.
Then, all at once, he heard a familiar, very welcome voice.
"Perhaps it's you that is the one who should not be so fast! Eh... wait, that doesn't work"
Could it be him? Could it really be him? Edwin looked up to see a red and white animal in the trees above, the great scar in the sky above him. Yes! It was! "Loki!"
"But I'll tell ya something that does work! Sparkling Thunder!""
It seemed his partner was focused too much on his opponent to respond. But that was okay. Edwin watched as a great bolt of lightning blasted from the Elecmon's tail spikes and struck Musyamon with a crack of booming thunder. And, he realized, if Loki was here, then surely everyone else's partners would be close by?
