DYKER BEACH PARK OCTOBER 8th, 10:00 PM TAMERS (w/ Mons) and GENESIS

It was a cool, crisp, New York evening. A young woman stood among the open fields, glancing around the massive park and golf course. "There isn't anything here--I thought you said you sensed some digimon," insisted the girl, whose blonde tipped red-hair blew slightly in the wind. Her light eyes fixated on her partner in irritation.
A yellow lizard who dressed himself in a silver coat with blue stripes simply shrugged. "I smelt a digimon nearby," he said, flatly. Gabumon walked up beside her, looking around the park as well. "Maybe someone else beat us here, Erika?"
"Doubt it," Erika replied. "Does it look like a battle happened here?" She looked down at the dog-like digimon. "I mean, I hauled my ass out of my warm bed--I was reading a really good book. And you said 'oh Erika, there's a digimon, let's goooo!'," she said mockingly, waving her arms as she did. "I think your damn nose is broken!" she yelled, grabbing him by the yellow horn atop his head, and shaking him around.
"Yeow!" he snapped. "Did you take your anger pills today?!"
"I don't need anger pills!" Erika snapped. "I just need a dog digimon to know how to smell!"
"I'm a lizard!" Gabumon snapped back.
"Well you're pretending to be a dog -- so you should do better than that!"
There was suddenly a loud caw high above them. Both Gabumon and Erika halted their yelling and assault on each other, and darted their gaze to the sky. "Well, well, well," Erika smirked, drawing what looked like a smart phone from her back jeans pocket.
"I told you," Gabumon grumbled. "And look, there's two. That makes me double right." Erika shoved his rants aside, and held the device towards the pair of fiery birds clawing at each other in the sky.
"Saberdramon - Virus - Adult - Special Attack: Mach Shadow," a robotic, feminine voice spoke as a projection of the black, fiery bird appeared on screen. Erika then used her finger to swipe through the projection. It went to the next, the orange bird this time. "Birdramon - Vaccine - Adult - Special Attack: Meteor Wing."
"Ready Gabumon?" Erika asked. Gabumon nodded, taking a step forward. "Hit 'em while they're busy fighting each other!"
Suddenly, the two birds stopped, and glared downward at their enemies. Both of them flapped their wings, before they spread apart rapidly. A shower of black and a shower of red fire rained from above, directly at the pair.
"Oh dammit," Gabumon grumbled, running back to throw him and Erika out of the way. The two hit the ground several yards away as the fire burst against the grounds. They were a little singed, but alive. "Even if I evolve, I don't know if I can reach them."
Erika grimaced.
((OOC: Okay, this thread is for anyone Tamer already HAS a mon, or any Genesis agents. These birds are tough, and most Genesis agents won't be able to do more than fight a few child levels--which I'll bring in some more fun soon.
We also want to try and make this mostly Tamers, so that Genesis can't storm them after the battle.))

DYKER BEACH PARK OCTOBER 1st 10:00pm
It wasn’t hard to notice a park being set on fire, especially when the perpetrators were giant birds. For Dex and Van, this was a wonderful way to round out the day. They watched the two flying Digimon descend towards the other tamer and her dog-lizard thing safe behind the cover of some bushes. Not that it was a particularly sensible hiding spot in a place that had just been set on fire.
“Your hunch was right, Van.” Dex fumbled around with his phone, bringing up his camera and snapping a few blurry, skew-whiff shots of the birds and the blaze. He managed to stay his hand enough to take a few clearer shots of the action.
“My hunches are always right. I’m not a digital world-famous treasure hunter for nothing,” Van boasted. “Birdramon and Saberdramon are their names. This isn’t gonna be an easy one.”
“Don’t those fiery bastards know this is council-owned property? How inconsiderate of them.” Dex quipped through his fear. He lowered his phone and turned to the blue lizard beside him. “Time to get cracking.” Dex clenched his right fist and punched it into his left palm. Van mimicked his motion and let loose a decisive grin.
“Let’s defeather some chickens.” Van leapt out from behind the bushes and darted towards the scene. He flitted past the girl and what he assumed was her Digimon partner. “Watch and learn you two! This is how it’s done!” He braced himself and, aiming for the red bird, kicked off the ground with his powerful legs feeling pumped. He drew back his thick skull, but his expression changed. He’d misjudged the distance. No, he’d misjudged his power. He wouldn't have reached the blazing monster if it had been staying still. As his ascent slowed, Birdramon moved in, slapping Van to the ground with a whip of its wing. Van ate soil. He was lucky his head was so thick else he would've have been losing brain mass right now.
“Van!” Dex yelled, running in towards the fight.
“Don’t worry, dude, I got this…” Van slurred as he staggered to his feat dazed and groggy. “Jus’... might as well call me GotThismon… eheh.” He turned to the birds again. “Yep… definitely got this…”
“Give it all you got!” His partner replied. Dex turned his attention to the girl with the two-coloured hair. “Hey there, beautiful, how about we skedaddle and let the lizards do the fighting?” Dex said, trying to contain his voice cracks. After all, this was just another fun night at the local park, right?!

>>“Hey there, beautiful, how about we skedaddle and let the lizards do the fighting?”
Erika gave the guy a death glare. "Oh great, here we go," Gabumon muttered, stepping away from the pair. Erika had gotten back to her feet, and marched over to the young man addressing her.
"Who do you think you are, pal?" she demanded, jabbing her forefinger into his chest. "You come here, muscling in on MY battle, and have the nerve to hit on me, and ask me out?".
Gabumon, meanwhile, made his way over to the Veemon who had been tossed aside by the large birds. "Hey, GotThis mon, need a hand?" the digimon asked jokingly. "This is going to be a fun challenge..." his tone was dry and devoid of anything that would imply he would really have fun.
Erika continued ranting at poor Dex in the background. "And another thing--" she was cut off by the loud screech of the birds. Great... were they going to attack again? She moved Dex aside, grabbing her D-Link. "Look, pal, you can have one--but you'd better evolve that Veemon if you want to stand a chance." Erika held her digivice into the sky.

"Evolution, Activate!" A single ring formed around Erika's forearm, and flew into the device. It created a bright, bluish glow in response.
"Gabumon... evolve...!"
His body began to spin rapidly, before it was coated in the blue light. It created an egg like form, before a new model burst from it. It was as if skin was wrapping around the digimon's new form, first around his paws, then up his legs, on his back, chest, then to his head. It came together at the tip of the wolf's large nose. The wolf creature had several feather-like spines on its back and head. His body was silver with blue stripes. He finished with a howl.
"Garurumon!"
010101010101010101010101010101010101010101
The Garurumon emerged from the light. He immediately opened his large jaws, "Fox Fire!" The blast of blue fire towards the Saberdramon, driving it back from them. It would be hard to reach effectively though.

Dex winced and retreated at the verbal barrage that exploded out at him. Eyes wide and mouth agape, he leapt slightly as the tamer jabbed him with her finger.
>> "You come here, muscling in on MY battle, and have the nerve to hit on me, and ask me out?".
“I-I-It’s a defence mechanism! Don’t hit me, please, I’m sorry!” Dex stuttered, retreating. He made a mental note that to scratch ‘beautiful’ out of his lexicon. Apparently this was ‘her’ battle. Some thanks for trying to help out, Dex thought, but thought it was in his best interest to keep his opinions to himself for now. Remembering that important, life-threatening things were happened he turned to Van. The V-mon seemed to have recovered his footing after the previous attack.
>>"Hey, GotThis mon, need a hand?"
“Nah, man, I’ll just take out two adult levels by myself.” Van chuckled sarcastically, still very confused. Van shook his head rapidly before slapping the sides of his head. He was still dizzy, perhaps even concussed. “Not sure exactly how however. Something tells me we’re not gonna outmanoeuvre these two on the ground or in the air.”
Meanwhile, Dex yelped more as the tamer began her assault once again. He was actually kind of relieved that she was interrupted by the murder screams of a volcanic bird.
“Ouch, careful, I’m delicate,” Dex yelped as the girl shoved him. He’d never met another tamer before and honestly he wasn’t enjoying doing so as much as he expected.
>> "Look, pal, you can have one--but you'd better evolve that Veemon if you want to stand a chance."
“Oh, I can have one? How, um… generous?” Dex responded, not quite sure how to feel about anything right now. Dex and Van watched as their now teammates performed their evolution. The wolf was impressive, Dex had to admit. Garurumon was his name according to his D-Link. So he was a dog after all? But Dex was so sure he’d seen scales on the child level. Regardless, it wasn’t important right now. This girl was the kind of person you have to impress he thought, so all he and Van could do was give as good as they could. Taking advantage of Garurumon’s distraction, Dex gave a confident grin. “Looks like things are about to get explodey. If its an evolution you want to see, I’d hate to disappoint!”
“Let’s do this, partner!” Van yelled. Dex spun his D-Link superfluously as the ring of light channelled into it. Van was engulfed in a golden light as his form began to change.
“V-mon! Evolve!” Van bellowed. His proportions grew more adult, more lean and athletic. He spread out his arms and legs as his armour forged itself and clanked onto his body. First his chest plate, then his faulds clicked into place. He back flipped, his greaves clamping around his lower legs as they reached the apex of his jump. Floating closely to the ground, Van punched the air, right fist, then left, his gauntlets exploding into existence as he did. Clenching his fists and bringing his arms back to his sides, his large pauldrons descended slowly onto his shoulders, falling gently into place. Energy struck Van’s head like a lightning bolt and suddenly his helm was in place. He lifted his head slowly as his eyes burst open. His shining golden armour shone magnificently for a few moments before the light of evolution dissipated and his evolution was complete.
“Magnamon!” He declared. He let out a cocky ‘heh’ before boosting into battle. The jets on the underside of his pauldrons let him fly up closer to the birds. Seeing as Garurumon seemed to be going after Saberdramon, he set his sets on Birdramon. His jets intensified and Van sped forwards. “Magnum…” He drew back his right fist and his gauntlet charged with golden energy. “Punch!” His fist connected and Birdramon screeched as it careened into the ground.
“Yeah, Van, show ‘em what we’re made of!” Dex cheered, fist-pumping.
“We? I don’t see you doing much.” Van quipped. He only had a brief reprieve, however. Birdramon was up and screeching even more. It flew up, picking up speed. Van braced for impact, taking the bird’s charge head on. He grunted, being thrown backwards in the air. He may have obtained the capacity to reach Birdramon, but his gold digizoid armour was built for defence rather than speed and Birdramon still had more movement options in the air. “Ugh, this is why I hate birds. I mean, not all birds, I’m not racist or anything. In fact, I have a friend who’s a Piyomon.” Birdramon, ignoring whatever nonsense Van was spouting, charged up another meteor wing. Van primed his pauldrons, readying his Plasma Shoot attack, but Birdramon was faster. The bullets of fire clashed into Van before he could get his projectiles off. Unbalanced, Van lost his aim, accidenlty loosing five blasts of gold energy into the fray towards Saberdramon and Garurumon…

"Ohhh, not bad," Erika commented on Veemon's evolution into Magnamon. According to her digivice, this 'mon was pretty impressive. She glanced over at Dex, briefly. Maybe she was too quick to judge.
Garurumon was dodging the black bursts of fire headed towards him from the Saberdramon above. "Damn this guy is a pain," the wolf growled, before the sounds of a small explosion rang out nearby. Glancing over, Garurumon could see some bursts of energy coming from the Birdramon/Magnamon battle.
"Garurumon, get out of there!" Erika called, hurriedly. The bursts of energy exploded on impact. Garurumon was thrown back, and the Saberdramon too was thrown aside. The large, black digimon crashed into a gathering of nearby trees, uprooting a couple of them. The ground shook as it made impact.
"Dammit, can't your digimon aim a little better?" Erika snapped, before taking in a sharp breath. She realized her anger was getting the better of her. "Okay, Erika--just visualize a waterfall," she muttered. She imagined the rushing waterfall, and lots of trees and debris flying down it.
"Dammit! It's just making me more angry!" she snapped, before taking a breath.
She glanced up as the Saberdramon got back to his feet, before flitting himself in the air. The bird released a loud caw. Was Garurumon okay? Saberdramon started towards Magnamon and Birdramon, attempting to intervene on the attack.
"Ice Cannon!" A blast of ice shot from Garurumon's jaws, dissipating the smoke surrounding him. The ice soared directly at Saberdramon's back, forcing the bird forward as ice coated its back and wings. It slammed into Birdramon, throwing them both off-center.
"Hey, you're alright!" Erika called.
"Of course I am," the wolf grinned, joining sides with Magnamon.
Erika mused for a moment. "What's your name?" she asked before shaking his head. "It doesn't matter--look, we need to work together if we're going to beat these big birds." Magnamon had more bulk, but Garurumon had a lot more mobility and speed--that's what they needed. But he couldn't get enough force behind him to land a solid attack...
Erika suddenly snapped her fingers. "Magnamon, can you give Garurumon a boost?"
"What the hell do you mean? Like throw me at them?!" the wolf demanded.
Erika smirked, and gave a solid nod, "That's exactly what I mean!" She pointed at the two birds in the sky. "Do it!"
((OOC: Mags, after you launch him, have the other bird throw an attack at Dex and Erika))

>>"Dammit, can't your digimon aim a little better?"
Dex let out an awkward laugh and scratched the back of his head, averting his gaze. Of all the times to misfire, why now when he was trying to look cool? Not that it was that important right now. What was important now was staying alive. Van was recovering from the meteor wing alright it seemed. He looked more than a little singed as he got up onto one knee before lurching forward into a standing position.
"Uh, oops." Van muttered.
“Yeah, you see what you did?” Dex reprimanded.
“Okay, well next time you shoot the lasers, genius.” Van shook his head, evidently getting frustrated with the fight, lacking his usual bravado. Dex witnessed the tamer girl do some kind of anger management technique. It didn’t seem to be working.
>>"Dammit! It's just making me more angry!"
“Uh, are you okay?” Dex thought perhaps this woman was insane. It would be his luck. He’d finally found another tamer and she was a pretty girl. Of course she was batshit crazy.
Saberdramon was up and charging for Van. Birdramon was looking furious as ever too. Van began charging his Plasma Shoot again, but he wouldn’t be able to hit the both of them. Split between his choices Van began to panic. Luckily, Garurumon nailed the Saberdramon with a blast of ice. Van was relieved he hadn’t hurt the guy too badly, but he didn’t have much time to think about it as Birdramon swooped in for another bite.
“Plasmaaaa…” He raised his arms, now levitating again slightly. He swung his arms down, unleashing the golden energy blasts. "Shoot!" Without interruption his aim was true and he sent Birdramon spiralling into Saberdramon. They were both stunned and now they had an opening.
>>"What's your name?"
Stunned for a second by the girl not reprimanding him for once, Dex stuttured.
“Oh, it’s De-“
>>"It doesn't matter--look, we need to work together if we're going to beat these big birds."
Dex’s mouth was still open from the middle of his sentence. He sighed, mentally crossing the girl of his waifu list for good.
>>"Magnamon, can you give Garurumon a boost?"
“A boost? Like, throw him?” Van tilted his head inquisitively.
“Hoist him!” Dex commanded, gesturing his right arm forward dramatically.
“Hoist him?”
“Yes, Van. Hoist the wolf!” Van rolled his eyes and made his way slowly towards Garurumon. “Hooooiiiist!” Dex now had his arms raised in a power pose. He was getting far too into this.
“Sorry about this, pal,” Van muttered to Garurumon before he grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and underbelly. Using his boosters, Van launched directly upwards, spinning to create momentum. “Magnum…” Spinning faster and faster, Van lined up with the Birdramon. He only had one wolf to chuck after all and that’d have to do. “THROW!” He released his grip on the poor Garurumon and sent him careening towards one of the blazing birds. He noticed too late Saberdramon, now launching blasts of black flame at the two tamers.

Erika admired Dex's power pose. He had a solid, commanding figure when he put himself out there.
"Nonono--wait a second--!" Garurumon yelped before Magnamon hoisted him up.
"Fly, Garurumon!" Erika yelled, fist-pumping as the Magnamon began spinning him.
>>"Mangum... Throw!"
Garurumon howled as he flew.
"Cool," Erika commented, putting her hand over her eyes, like a visor. She watched Garurumon soar--who was cursing as he was.
The wolf was coming right at his target, and he readied his claws, and his form slammed head on into the Birdramon. "Subzero Ice Fang!" the wolf called as the force behind him from Magnamon's throw gave him the added boost he need to take the bird towards the ground. As he did, his teeth dug into one of the birds' wings. The red bird began careening towards the ground.
Meanwhile, a series of black flames began heading towards the pair.
"Oh shit," Erika meeped. Her hand suddenly grabbed Dex's, and they burst into a run. There was no way they could outrun a blast of fire from above. Erika pushed herself into Dex, and the two of them rolled, before toppling down a nearby hill. The fire exploded behind them, rushing them forward harshly. The pair landed at the bottom of the hill in a tangled mess. Erika's face fell into Dex's chest.
She could hear Garurumon calling from the distance, though his voice was muffled. Her ears rung loudly. "Dex, are you dead?" she asked, knowing she would feel that tomorrow. And probably for a week after.
---
Meanwhile, one Birdramon was down, locked on the ground. Garurumon had dealt quite a lot of damage to it--and now, it wasn't getting back into the air. There was still the Saberdramon to deal with--and there was a concern if his partner was alive. "Any bright ideas, goldy?" he asked Magnamon as the pair stood before the two birds.

Dex fist-pumped as Garurumon hit his target. Finally they were dealing some proper damage to the two enemy Digimon. This was the start of their comeback he thought. Before he knew it, Erika had grabbed his hand. For a second he was very confused, flinching slightly. Then he noticed the fireballs. How disappointing, he thought. The world turned to a blur as the two tamers tumbled down the nearby hill. Colliding with the ground and Erika a number of times, Dex finally found himself coming to a brutal stop after surviving the force of the blast. For a second he thought it was over, but Erika helpfully landed on top of him. Letting out a large gasp, Dex flailed his arms slightly before pain and exhaustion got the better of him and he let his arms fall outstretched.
>>"Dex, are you dead?"
“I am definitely dead,” Dex rasped. He was too tired and injured to even move Erika off him. Or that would be his excuse at least. “Also… didn’t catch your name... hehe. If I’m dying here, I’d at least like to know who I’m dying with.”
Meanwhile, Van watched Garurumon’s tussle with Birdramon. Birdramon seemed to be out of commission for now, but Saberdramon was kicking up a fuss.
>>"Any bright ideas, goldy?"
“I’m a treasure hunter, partner,” Van chuckled. “I’ve been in more tight scrapes than you’d believe." Letting out another chuckle, Van suddenly got serious. "There is this one attack I have. Haven’t actually used it, really, but according to the D-Link, I have to capacity to do so. It takes all my strength to use it, though and I’d revert back to V-mon. You’d be on your own if it fails to end this. Plus, it takes a moment charge it, so I’d need you to cover me.” Van wasn’t particularly fond of this plan, but he saw little else they could do. These birds were surprisingly stubborn. “It’s all or nothing. What do you think?”

"That brat better be alright," Garurumon muttered, before turning to Magnamon. He explained about a potential, powerful attack. That could be just what they needed to finish off the other one.
>>“It’s all or nothing. What do you think?”
"You got it, can you get that Saberdramon?" the wolf poised, before turning towards the Birdramon. He had an idea--and he was hoping it would work. "I'll give you an opening--you've got two minutes to charge." the wolf instructed, before bounding forward.
He jumped upon the downed Birdramon, delivering a Fox Fire above his head to the Saberdramon as his claws dug into the Birdramon. The bird above avoided the attack, but that was the intention anyway. Garurumon proved very nimble, managing to keep both of the birds occupied for a few, brief moments.
He just hoped Magnamon would deliver...
---
>>"I definitely am dead."
"I'm pretty sure I'm dead too," the girl muttered, not wanting to move her aching body from her current, comfortable position. She felt like she should be mad--but she was too exhausted to care about that.
>>“Also… didn’t catch your name... hehe. If I’m dying here, I’d at least like to know who I’m dying with.”
"Erika," she said quietly. She felt herself go lax for a moment, before her eyes shot open. She could see a boot touch the ground, near eye level to her. She suddenly felt tense, following the boot, up to a black pant leg, then further up to a neatly pressed black suit, and a pair of dark sunglasses--at night, no less. There was a man and a woman, each had slicked back, well-kept hair.
The woman held a badge out, and Erika felt herself tense up. She pulled herself up, helping Dex to a sitting position as well. She kept one hand on Dex's arm and back, not ready to make any sudden movements.
"Can we help you?" Erika asked, feeling unnerved by the sudden appearance.
"We are officers of the Genesis Organization of New York City," the woman spoke, coolly. Upon second glance, Erika could tell this woman was in her late 20s--the man likely as well. They both seemed fit and had stances like someone from the military. "You are Tamers, yes?" the woman continued--the man seemed like he didn't speak much.
"No comment," Erika replied.
"You are under arrest for harboring digimon," the woman declared. Erika felt her grip fighting, unwittingly. "If you resist, we will use force."
Above on the top of the hill, Garurumon continued to distract the two bird digimon.
((OOC: Yay--launch that attack, and take care of the Saberdramon--but the Birdramon will still be around. Oh, and our genesis friends too... Dex may or may not have heard of them yet--Erika hasn't, but it's easy to tell they're trouble.))

Van nodded and Garurumon bounded into the fray, distracting the giant enemy birds. Van rolled his shoulder and shook out his neck. Clenching his fists, he began charging. Finding a place of surprisingly tranquillity within his mind, he let his mind flow. Feeling the energy in the air, he zeroed in on the text messages and wi-fi hotspots in the surrounding area, tapping into their digital energy and absorbing power. His armour began to shine a bright gold. Seeing the two birds ganging up on Garurumon, Van realised he’d have to intervene before he was fully charged. He’d charged seventy percent of his attack. That’d have to be enough. He launched himself forth, now brimming with gold energy.
“Shining Gold…” Van tucked his arms into his stomach. Sensing the oncoming attack, Saberdramon ignored Garurumon and charged at him. Convenient, Van thought. This would reduce to possibility of Garurumon getting caught up in the attack. “Solar Storm!” Van threw out his limbs and discharged his power, launching a sphere of destructive force out from within him. Saberdramon charged forth into blast, burning up and being reduced to naught with an ear-splitting screech. The blast diffused, leaving a cloud of smoke behind. As it cleared, Van was left on the floor, returned to V-mon. Scratching his head, he pulled himself up. He could only hope now that Garurumon would be able to put the other one six feet under.
---
Dex forced himself to coherence as Erika pulled him up into a sitting position. He noticed the suits. He thought he may have been paranoid, but he’d seen a lot inconspicuously conspicuous people in suits around lately and thought perhaps they were monitoring him. The sounds of an explosion boomed nearby accompanied by an ethereal flash of gold light. "R-right?"
