LONG ISLAND - THE WINTERS ESTATE OCTOBER 9th, 2025 - 2:00 PM WINTERS AND ?
◖NPCs ‖ Vespers, Grigori, Bertie the candlemon◗
The estate of Raphael, Gabriel, and Leslie Winters could hardly be called humble. It had acres of land in an area where space was a commodity, and it was a safe refuge against the busy chaos of the city. And currently, at a small side room near the kitchen was the family accountant working at a laptop while the sun poured in from an open window, dappled by leaves above. It highlighted the spread of papers, stock holdings, special accounts, funding for running the household. There were servants that quietly handled the family needs, but no more than necessary for such a large home. The siblings' inheritance would last them a lifetime if Vespers Melchior had anything to do about it.
She was even allowed to rent a small servant's home on the south side of the property as her own.
Only Raphael knew about her digimon partner, even the youngest sibling had little knowledge of the creature who was taught to hide very well when he needed to. Right now as she sighed and compiled totals for the month, her fingers digging into her magenta locks, her son was playing outside in the gardens with Bertie the candlemon keeping a close eye on him.
She turned, looking out the window to see the child tumbling through some tall grass before righting himself and spreading his arms like a plane, zooming past the waxy watchman. At least out here both of them could play without worries of being seen and it made her smile.
"You two having fun out there?"
"Adventures mommy, I'm having adventures..." Grigori corrected her, pointing at the window with a serious toss of his matching magenta hair. He grinned, then went back to playing, picking up a plush tsukaimon from the ground and tossing it in the air.
"Yes Mistress! Though it is awfully hot out here..." the candlemon wafted itself gently with his drippy fingers, making Vespers chuckle at his joke. At least she thought it was a joke, Bertie was an odd duck if there ever was one.
"I'll be back in a few minutes, I have to make a phone call in the other room alright?" Hearing no response reminded her again of her motherhood. She shook her head and wandered through the doorway.

Bertie was used to childcare duties, having accepted Mistress Melchior as his Master from the time she found him. He was content to serve, it suited his nature. He watched the child run after the throw plush doll, getting closer to the woods before he commented it likely wasn't a good idea to get too far from the house.
"Young Master, please stay where Mistress can see you. It's safer that way," Bertie bounced toward the rustling as Grigori reached into a shrub to retrieve his well-loved threadbare doll. There hadn't been any attacks this far out but they couldn't predict them. Bertie sighed and came up behind Grigori as he hugged his doll and stared at something standing in front of him.
"Bertie, is that your friend?" Grigori asked, looking at the round, pig-like, cat-like monster.
"I've never met him before my entire life, I wonder what he's doing out here," the candlemon approached, only for the tokomon to start growling, then whimpering at them and hiding it's eyes behind it's pseudo-ears. "Are you lost?"
It wiggled affirmatively, but that wasn't the problem now. A large shadow loomed over the two from behind, making the tokomon squeal when it finally took a peek. "I don't know how I got here but he was chasing me before it happened and now I think it would be a great idea if we all ran for our lives!" he cried, taking a spin to turn in the opposite direction, barreling into the forest full speed.
With one look back to see a wolf hover behind them with it's jaw wide, they were on off into the woods behind the babymon.

It had only been a few minutes, but once she was done with her call, Vespers moved back into the small kitchen-side office, about to sit down before she looked out the window and saw something strange. No sign of Bertie or Grigori, and something... something large was moving in the woods, making the tree tops shake. She shouted as loud as she could.
"GRIGORI! BERTIE!" she was already charging through the garden door, running to the treeline. She shouted again, but there was no reply from either her child or her digimon.
The wind whipped around her and she nearly toppled over, seeing face to face with a large bird. The creature blocked her path, looking indifferently at her as it tucked it's head in to preen it's feathers.
Vespers stepped back, tapping as fast as she could into her phone, sending out the message to both Gabriel and Raphael. It simply read:
Wild digimon at the house. Grigori missing. Please Help!
