Right so. I've been thinking of this idea for ages but i wasn't sure whether or not people would like it as my last idea received a total of 2 people's feedback. So I'm hoping this one receive some more... anyway here goes!
So there is this series of books which I have loved for a long time, 2 actually, the first one is named the Percy Jackson series, the second is called the heroes of Olympus. And basically As soon as I started Pen'n paper, I thought it would be so much fun as one, so I considered writing up my own set of rules for it then just going for it.
Ever since I joined here I decided it would work much better here in the thread based format rather then as a Pen'n paper. 'Cause both the style and you guys are just so awesome! But I decided as a newblet of the site (and after DtB got no interest) I should just forget it. But now, I really really wanna give it a try.
Okay so basically here is the main outline. The ancient Greek gods are still around. They have been moving from place to place, where ever "the heart of the west" was, so Rome, France, England and now they are in america. Some of you may have some (or a lot of) knowledge of ancient Greek myths but basically every once in the while the gods would fall in love with a mortal and have a child. These are called Demigods, examples are Jason, perseus and most famously, Hercules.
We would play as demi gods. There is a lot of rich story opportunity in many ways here, all sorts of monsters from myths, obviously the gods, not just the olympians though, all sorts of minor gods, Hecate, Janus, Nemisis ect. Obviously there are exceptions to whose child you could be, for example Hera/Armetis, hera is the goddess of marrige so she doesn't cheat. And Aremitis vowed to remain a maiden for ever, although she does have teenage girls as her Immortal hand maidens or "Hunters of Artemis" which are sorta like her kids.
But yeah basically there is a pre-made class system which is handy.
There is actually an entire extra aspect to this, which comes in the second series, basically what it boils down to is that the gods were Roman almost as long as they were Greek so they have a Roman aspect to them, additionally there are some gods that are actually only Roman. So yeah.
Also, lots of magical shit, obviously, main character in one of the series has a weapon named riptide, which is a pen, that when clicked turns into a sword, made of celestial bronze (magical metal which can kill monsters but not harm mortals as they aren't important enough)
Oh crap forgot some of the important bits... Demigods have a strong scent to monsters, Greeks stay at a place named camp half blood (basically a 24/7 summer camp for demigods) and the Romans have new Rome (hidden city in San Francisco)
There is soooo much more that i can add to this, however I would like to know if there is any interest so far...

This sound fun. As long as we get to make our own take on the demi gods, lol. I want to see more about this class system. I really wanna read this series, now, lol.
In my opinion, pick one thing for us to do... And not have people all over. For example, stick us all in New Rome, have us fight monsters, or some shiz. RPs dont' work well with multiple plotlines, especially if you don't have GMer experience.
Regardless, count me interested!

Being that I like various mythologies, I could definitely get behind this idea. But yeah, like Tails said, we need a little organization here. Multiple plotlines can likely work in a book, but on a board RP... Unless there was enough players to fit in numerous areas, a single plot focus might be best.

You had me at the Rick Riordan reference.
I like this idea. Do you have a plot arc in mind?

Right, as Int asked I do, and I shall get to that. first the information that was left out.
Right, so I'm thinking only Greeks, easy party, we're all based in camp half blood. Sent out on quests. For various reasons, obviously potential for a big story here. Pretty much everything in Greek mythology counts.
I am thinking for Godly parent's: Apollo, Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hephaestus, Dionysus, Hecate, Athena, Ares, Hermes, Demeter, Aphrodite and Artemis (hunters) each one will have its perks.
Everyone will have they're own unique magical item, it can be a weapon, or something else, Things like a cap that turns you invisible, a shield that extends from a watch/bracelet. Also, obviously everyone will have a weapon, for most it will be made out of celestial bronze (except possibly Xi) it can range from a dagger, to a sword, to a lance/spear, even a bow.
I have a clear plot in mind, start out small doing quests, favours for gods and stuff, then gradually as it goes uncover a devious plot. We'd meet various things from mythology, hydra's, nemean lion, ect. And friendly's too, centuars, Chiron is our trainer, satyrs that sort of thing.

Right so this is what I was thinking for the Olympus sign up....
Name: (self explanatory)
Gender:
Age: (15-17)
Godly heritage:
Appearance:
Personality:
History: (We will all have been attending the same high school, Nobody will know about their Godly parent)
Magical item: (we are not starting with these) These will be gifts from our godly parent out our patron.
Weapon skills: what the characters are skilled with, swords, daggers, spear, bow's that sort of thing.
Powers: (I will give examples and let you know if your decisions are too OP) You probably won't be able to use these off the bat, there will be a few exceptions to this rule, but in any case you won't know how to properly utilise it from the start.
Just the rough outline.

My $0.02-
I like it.
I was a fan of the Percy Jackson novels (but never got around to the last one in the series), but I like the setup. It makes a certain amount of sense in context, and it has a lot of flexibility in the system so long as you keep it open to multiple deities.
Personally, I see the best way to go would be stick with a single home base to start (like everyone has said) like Camp Half-blood (as you've said), and have some team-building quests. I don't think we should start with super awesome items from the start - after all, not everyone got really powerful artifacts in the books either. Plus, if we *all* got super weapons, it could easily become a cosmic arms race between us and the antagonists. Super powers, yes- but nothing extravagant.
I think a globe-trotting adventure (like the Golden Fleece or some other artefact) would be a good 2nd arc to the story, with a third arc dealing with some major threat- possibly another set of deities poking their noses in (lookin' at you Norse...) or even something like the Titans waking.
All in all, i'm game.

Just had a chance to properly read through your comment, yes to all of the above. I'm thinking this RP is definitely doable, i just need a bit of time to define some stuff and maybe gather a few more recruits T_T

Note, interest is increased after the RP goes from idea to actual sign up. You may be only getting around 3-4 people showing interest right now, but so long as everything is solid in the sin up, you'll see at least 6, possibly more. That'll be your more recruits, lol.
