As many of you may know, I am a devout (read: since 9) fan of the Elder Scrolls series, and, for me, there's no end to the wonder contained in it.

For those of you who have no concept of TES whatsoever, it's (currently) a five-game series birthed and raised by the cultural video game angels, Bethesda Softworks, and I know this sounds like pathetic fanboyism (it is) but these guys are genuinely one of the last studios I can see who are paying enough attention to detail in order to make a sandbox game feel truly alive and immersive.

TES 1/2, Arena and Daggerfall, respectively, were flagship RPGs of the 1990s, and when TES 3, Morrowind, came around in 2002, it brought with it innumerable amounts of praise, too. However, it was with Oblivion that Bethesda truly sailed into the mainstream in 2006, and even this masterpiece was rejected by numerous critics, yet still remains to be one of my favourite games.

However, all of you reading will undoubtedly know of the powerhouse that is Skyrim, released in November last year, which has been critically acclaimed almost globally as one of the greatest contemporary RPGs of all time.

Being that The Elder Scrolls are set in Tamriel, an expansive continent as is, with so much left to flesh out, this is purely an interest check for a possible RP coming in January 2013. Would anyone be interested in a TES RP?

Those of you with experience of the games, if you enjoyed them, should definitely be down for them, but even if you know little to nothing of them, this would be purely original. If I get five possible players' interest before then, I may well go with it.

For anyone looking to do some research, www.uesp.net is your best friend. I'd aim for a multiracial and multiclass party, with the exception (for the former) of a pair of siblings or a father/mother and son/daughter combo for better and more interesting mechanics. You'd be able to create your own class, more or less, in a vein similar to Oblivion, just picking focal attributes, weaponry, armour, and then either giving yourself typical skills or creating a new set.

The RP itself would be entitled The Elder Scrolls: The Lost Continent, in search of an unmapped and uncharted Ayleid-inhabited continent to the far east of Tamriel, which we would spend a large proportion of the game learning about before finally traveling there.

So, what do you guys think?

Interest so far:

- KoH: Argonian DPS-focused warrior
- Kay: Dunmer stealth-focused rogue w/ magic support

I'm guessing you didn't get the following you hoped for?

Well I'd definitely be interested regardless

-- High Elf Battle Mage with focus on Elemental combat mixed with one handed sword fighting.

Where is it likely that the action would kick off from? (I'm presuming one of the pre-established game countries, like Cyrodil or Skyrim for ease of access rather than say; Valenwood?)

Not yet, no, but I'm staying hopeful, hahah.

We'd all start in whichever country we chose: for instance, my character would begin in Hammerfell with an NPC. Our travel - paid-for - would take us to Cyrodiil, where we'd meet our employer/benefactor, and the rest of the team. Cyrodiil (namely Bruma for half of the RP, and Leyawiin for the other half) would act as a "hub" for most of the action.

Guilds that would feature would include the Dark Brotherhood (game would most likely be nearing the end of the third era, during Uriel VII's reign, or the opening of the fourth) of both Skyrim and Cyrodiil, the Morag Tong, the Shadowscales of the Royal Argonian Court, the Thieves Guild (perhaps even meeting the Grey Fox), Mage's Guild (Arcane University would be the setting for a mission) and the Companions. Others will be mentioned but not fully explored.

POSSIBLY also the Blades, too, but I'm not really wanting to mess with the canon too much. The Legion is a given in Cyrodiil.

My main focus is to set the RP prior to the White-Gold Concordat because the Thalmor are irritating.

That's fair enough, and I definitely agree about the timeline, the Aldmeri Dominion kinda screwed it all (Although, tbf, the Thalmor look infinitely baddass).

Eeew, Leyawiin. Chorrol is where it's at ;)

What I'm interested in is how you want to draw a team together, in an 'organic' fashion. It's easy enough with one hero, just give them the chosen one trope, but I'm not sure how you're going to bring together such a diverse group of characters; especially with most of the RP set in Cyrodiil, rather than the 'New Continent' (I prefer it that way, there is so much wonderful lore in TES, without having to effectively go world building for the New continent.)

I'd be down to play. Granted, I've played all TES with the exception of Oblivion and it's expansions.

To expand: this Lost Continent builds upon lore FROM Oblivion and is similar to Mankar Camoran's Paradise for those who have played the end of Oblivion's main quest in that it's essentially there as something to achieve and work towards. It will definitely relate to lore elsewhere, but using Ayleid lore I can effectively construct what I think will be an appealing storyline.

Any character concepts, 64?

The second issue you raise, Vallant, is very easily diverted when you consider the main thing here: money. Each of us is either well-reputed or lucky, and stumbles upon this advert for the mercenary job or has been sent for personally.

Welllllll

I'd say a Breton with hybrid class of Warrior and Stealth. TES Boards tend to call it a StealthWarrior. In FFX1, Blink Tank. I call it The Batman. Focus is on a mix of Stealth and Combat skills. Heavy armor, longsword with no sheild. Use of magic is only seen through enchanting and alchemy. Physical build meant to maximize combat effectiveness without the use of magic instead relying on high constitution, stamina, and deceptive means such as poisons.

And, I tend to play this particular class after filling up on TANK.
