Location Alvar Academy for Young Mages; Sefirah
Date September 7th
Time 13:00 hour

The day many juvenile mages across the realm had been waiting for finally arrived. The Alvar Academy had opened it's gates for all of it's students, both returning and new. Hugs and tears were exchanged as parents stood with their teens while they said their goodbyes before the students were escorted through the 70 ft crystal gates that surrounded the campus. It seemed that even some of the academy's own staff were moved by the precious moments exchanged between parents and their almost grown offspring. Students mingled amongst themselves making their introductions or those who have returned for their second and third years sharing the events of their summer.

"...It's so beautiful..." a young raven haired woman sniffled with her hands clasped together and her eyes shedding tears as her heart was moved. "It's like this every year...the beginning of the semester and graduation. I just....I just can't take it! Can you feel the love radiating around us, Veronica?" the woman asked whilst looking to her blonde companion. The blonde woman seemed less than amused by her friend's bleeding heart and merely closed her eyes and shook her head at the other's blubbering.

"I feel like this day needs to speed up. The orientation ceremony is always so draining...then next week is the festival....it's just going to be a long two weeks, Raina." the blonde woman opened her eyes once more as more students passed by her. Specifically a few males that seemed to earn a grunt of appreciation from her. "Though perhaps it won't be as bad as it's been playing out in my mind..."

"...They're students, Veronica." Raina's eyes narrowed. "Minors."

"I'm trying to figure out when the hell 16 and 17 year olds started getting built like that. Is there some new potion supplement that's been circling around on the drug scene?" Veronica pondered.

"I think it's called well balanced diet and exercise." Raina replied nonchalantly. "But I believe it is time for us to head to Galdr Hall. The Grand Master will be starting the ceremony soon."

"Very well. Let's get this day over with." Veronica nodded and walked the paved path from the gates towards the main entrance of the academy with Raina in tow. Meanwhile four shadowed figures stood upon the grand arches set before the school. Two human shaped, the other two no larger than puppies. A single ray of the sun's light partially revealed their appearance: two males; one sporting sparkling gold chest exposed armor, his left hand rested upon his hip. Next to him stood the other figure who was slightly taller, more red samurai-like attire, headband dancing in the wind while his arms were folded over his chest. At their feet were two small winged mammals. One rainbow colored with butterfly like wings and feathery moth-like antennae, the other possessed white shaggy fur with feathered wings and several horns protruding from it's head.

"Veronica Elwyn and Raina Oakley...two of Alvar's finest instructors...yet I cannot say I miss them." the gold clad warrior shook his head as his sight left the two teachers and looked down to his furred companions. "Falk...are they here?"

"They're close." the white furred creature responded and raised his muzzle to the air, taking in a strong whiff. "Very close. Though they're not the only ones here..." he growled lowly.

"I figured that." the young man responded with a small frown. "This day will prove to be a test for them then. But we still need to retrieve her. We will not stand a chance for what's ahead without her powers. Iris," he glanced down to the rainbow schemed creature to his left. "I will need you to make a trip to Earth."

"Not a problem. " Iris nodded. "I will not let you down, my lords." she spoke to both men before her fluttering wings picked her up from the arch and began to carry her into the distance, leaving a trail of sparkles in her wake.

"Way to be obvious, Iris." the gold clad male sighed scrubbing a hand over his face. "Until she gets back, we just play the waiting game. " his lips curled into a small smirk as his might went to thinking of a certain gloomy prince of darkness who would be making his appearance here under his instruction. "Soon, my friend your destiny will become clear."

"...You're thinking of another guy and smirking." Falk said rather bluntly as he looked up to the other male clad in red and white. "Are you okay with this?"

"...Shut up, Falk." the male in gold sweat dropped.

"SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!"

The crowd cheered through the pulsing music blaring through the speakers. The youth of Portland High School had gathered for their last party of the summer before the new school year. The drinks were poured and small glasses of tequila were passed out amongst the those in attendance. They were immediately knocked back and hands reached for more. The foam and bubbles poured from the machine onto the party hostess' pool deck leaving all in it's wake covered in suds. They didn't seem to care as they continued to dance, high on life....some high on other things.

"Like, Gretchen throws the most rad parties ever! This totally rocks!" said a black haired girl. Her name was Bianca Christensen, also known as the Party Rat as she was seen at every party thrown in by the student body and even some college kids despite not really knowing them. She was about 3 beers and 4 tequila shots into the night and showed no signs of stopping soon.

"Lucille! Like, get over the mopey attitude! Clean up your grump and have another drink! You've been nursing that Vodka and Cranberry for the last hour! Seriously!" she shouted to the blonde girl posted against the wall next to her with a red plastic cup in hand. Her hair was tied back into twin pigtails held in place by black and purple bands. Silver crescent moons dangled from the lobes of her ears and her attire for the evening consisted of a simple black halter top dress with a pink cardigan sweater and a pair of black heeled sandals.

"O-M-G. Okay, like so what if you came here with Austin and Gretchen totally kidnapped and took him to her room and they haven't been seen for the past 2 hours. Like, get over it. There are plenty of other guys here!" Bianca laughed.

"..." Lucille shot a side glance to Bianca. "Aside from the fact that Austin and I have been dating for the past 3 weeks? Forgive me if I'm a bit miffed!" the blonde shouted. "Stupid Gretchen and her big fancy house, candy red mercedes, fat checking account, perfect tanned skinned and sculpted body..."

"Don't forget flawless hair like silk..." Bianca added.

"Not helping!" Lucille threw her cup to the ground, spilling it's contents.

"O-M-G! What is wrong with you!? That was a good vodka and cranberry! You criminal!" Bianca screamed.

"Whatever." Lucille sighed stepping over the mess. "It's 12 am....I'm heading home. I have to....keep looking for the college I want to attend. You know, sophomore year, it's time to get cracking on that stuff."

"...You're just going to go home, lock your doors, turn down all the lights and watch Magic Mike." Bianca responded with a smirk. "Then you'll get depressed over Austin, cry and then eat whatever you have left of the tub of Oreo ice cream you have in your freezer."

"....You don't know me!" Lucille pointed to the other girl as her expression expressed hurt. Yes, it seemed Bianca knew her far too well and she did not appreciate being read like she had been. "Enjoy the party." were her final words before storming off from the pool deck...but not before grabbing a doughnut for the road from the table of party food that had been set up.

Lucille stormed through the pint sized mansion that was Gretchen Johnson's home and exited through the front door. Only half the doughnut remained as she shuffled through the front lawn. Before the final bite could be taken, the blonde found herself eating green as she tripped over a sprinkler and fell face forward into the grass.

"...damn it, even her grass is perfect!" she thought while finding it irresistible to not nuzzle her face against the softness of the lawn. After a few moments she finally rolled over onto her back and released a soft sigh as she started up into the night sky. Viewing the moon and the stars. They were so gorgeous that night and it would have been romantic to view them with Austin....if he hadn't been taken by Gretchen.

"...huh?" Lucille's eyes squinted as she could see an intense shine of bright light in the distance. Perhaps it was an airplane? Though it seemed too eerie for that to be the case. Her eyes closed for another moment before opening them again.

"..." Her body stiffened as her eyes were now locked with rainbow furred creature. The very same from before. It's butterfly wings fluttering to keep it hovered above the girl. While the creature wore an expression of gentleness, Lucille's face was frozen with wide-eyed terror. "Oh god....they spiked the punch. I knew someone would. I shouldn't have had any!" she whined. "I'm tripping balls....seeing mutated Care Bears..."

"Actually...I'm not a Care Bear. I'm a Ku-Sith and my name is Iris!" the creature's smiled widened as it chuckled. "I've come for you, Lucille."

"...And...you talk? Oh man, my brain is going to be swiss cheese by the time whatever was in that punch wears off...." the blonde whined.

(( OOC: Loooong post but needed to set up. Yes, Avalon's time is basically military time and it's 12 hours ahead of the EST Timezone, woo.

Alright, so it's orientation weekend at the Academy, so everyone should be arriving on campus which is huge. It's easily about 5 miles in diameter. In front of the main entrance through the gates is the main courtyard complete with a large sparkling white water fountain.

Feel free to have your characters meet each other or make up some NPC students to mingle with since this is a school setting and classmates are kind of important to have. Your characters could have probably even noticed and grew suspicious of Iris' sparkling trail left in the sky as she ventured through a portal to Earth.

Kuno, feel free to have Wanda do her thing and creep on the kiddies and festivities. ))

Amongst the many students saying their more or less heartfelt goodbyes to their parents or guardians, there were a few that came to the Campus alone. One of them, clad in a black cape that let nothing much of his appearance to transpire, stopped before crossing the gate looking around for a chance to avoid this. Sadly, the presence of many unfriendly beings made him think twice about the last minute turnback.

Azhrarn Aliah, Prince of the House Ceridwen, Heir to the Throne of Annwyn and a dozen and half other thingies he decided to not care about, included most un-welcome person on Gwynvyd, appreciated that this was, at the very least, neutral ground where the relatives of his late lover were forbidden from openly try to kill him. Them and his own relatives that were a little disappointed over his apparent falling in love and decision to marry none the less than the heir to the Sworn Enemy's throne. Sadly the aforementioned lover got killed in the chaos that was born out of it, leaving the poor Azhrarn in this mess.

People avoided him as he moved toward the place where the welcoming ceremony had to be held, his cape not as suspicious for Annwyn people where know to dislike sunlight but at the same time it was giving him out as an inhabitant of the Realm of the Eternal Night, a place that didn't spawned many popoular beings in the past.

He ignored a couple of calls, one from a bunch of easygoing people from some distant world he couldn't really figure out, another from a bunch of girls that were way below his accepted standards even for a little recreation time. Mows where the boys circle's reaction to him ignoring them while the girls grumbled something on the lines of 'Sun-hater elitist'.

Yet the ceremony had still to start, the caped boy unwilling to spend more time than needed in a crowd decided to go for a bench placed under the refreshing shadow of a big tree nearby. Pulling out a book from under the cape, the aspiring mage opened it and started to read the text, resuming from where he apparently had interrupted before.

"... Wow... It's even bigger in person than I imagined." the voice of an amazed blue-haired boy spoke. He'd spent all of several minutes looking at just the gate to the school alone, to say nothing about what lay beyond it. Many of the students had arrived with their parents today, giving one a thought of just how grand this event was. Many of them were starting school for the first time, others returning for another term. In the case of this blue-haired youth, it was his first time here.

"Alvar Academy for Young Mages... Can I really cut it here?" he asked himself quietly, folding his arms and hanging his head in thought. As he pondered the thought, he walked forward among the other students to make his way inside. Understandably, he was a little nervous. No parental guidance around to encourage him either, all he could do was try his best not to mess up and get rejected. Easier said than done for sure, especially when he liked to find creative ways around problems with a little bit of magic.

"Come on, Adamah, you need to focus... Can't do that openly anymore without causing some unfortunate setbacks." he mumbled to himself quietly as he shuffled alongside the other students. Lifting his head, he finally saw the academy itself in the distance, staring with mouth agape at the majestic structure. So majestic, that he almost didn't watch where he was going as the crowd of students began to part to make way for an equally impressive-looking fountain. He was just inches from tripping and falling into the fountain when he realized where he was and stopped immediately. "Maybe i'm in a little bit over my head..." he sighed quietly, hanging his head as he looked into the water. In its reflection, he noticed something strange... Sparkling of some sort?

Tilting his head up, he looked into the sky and saw nothing, leading him to scratch the back of his head. "Maybe it was just the water playing tricks on me." he assured himself, before he slipped his hands into his pockets and hurried to see the inside of the structure itself.

===

Like many of the other new students applying to Alvar Academy, a white-haired youth approached the school gates alongside another, taller figure. The boy looked like he wore a face of silent indifference, but the taller figure walked with hands behind his head, almost like he was relaxed. "Hm... Looks better in person than the pictures made it out to be." the man spoke, before he eyed the other families that were present. "Glad i'm not the only one... Too bad your mother couldn't be here for this. I know she doesn't like public events like this, but that doesn't mean I have to suffer through them by myself." he grumbled.

"It's alright, dad... I don't think mom would prefer to stay around in a crowded place like this for too long. She'd prefer to stay back at home and keep things in order there." the youth spoke. "I'm not worried. I'll be just fine here... I did learn from you both, after all." he added, speaking less out of enjoyment and more like it was expected of him.

"That's what concerns me... I'm not exactly the best role model... Your mother, less so. Don't tell her I said that, though." he spoke quickly, before stopping and resting his right hand on the boy's shoulder. "Listen Tokio... You were a hell of a surprise to me and Sakura when we learned about you. To know you inherited our power, we were concerned with making sure you were ready to control it. We can only do so much as parents though, so... Try and learn what you can here. Make sure no one gives you a hard time, either. I don't want to have to come here with your mother to crack skulls and light fires under peoples' asses, literally speaking." he continued, before adding: "... Oh, try not to kill anyone either, please. I don't know how they'll react to dead bodies."

At that, the boy couldn't help but smile slightly, as he nodded. "I got it dad, don't worry... Alright, I think I can take it from here." he nodded, before turning to his father. Raising his own right hand, he balled it up into a fist and held it out, to which his father nodded and mimicked the motion, clapping the tops of their wrists against one another. "You take it easy now, and take care of mom." he finished, before turning and making his way among the other students, leaving his father behind to watch with arms folded.

"You're a Kobayashi, son... Make us proud." he nodded, as he turned to walk away, his left arm twitching slightly. "... Don't worry, Abaddon. Whatever happens here, he'll be ready to deal with it. If he needs help, he knows he can come to us." he spoke to no one in particular, as he pocketed his hands.

An old man and a teenage girl, both dressed in Chinese garb, stood at the gateway to Alvar Academy. The elder turned to his charge.

"Here it is. The Alvar Academy."

The teenage girl brushed her thick purple hair to a side, casting a sidelong glance at the speaker. Then she shrugged.

"I can only hope that the structural integrity of the Academy is as sturdy as the decorations of the facade are elaborate. My experiments require a sizable amount of leeway for them to be able to push back the frontiers of high alchemical and magical study."

"I... am sure it will be more that sufficient, Lady Perigren." There was a hint of nervousness in the man's voice, but the girl seemed not to notice. Instead she continued to speak.

"At least numerous references have attested to the comprehensiveness of the Library and the Laboratory herein. There is only a 0.35% chance that I will be let down in my expectations thereof. I shall proceed henceforth to-"

"You are expected to attend the opening ceremony, my Lady," the man added hastily.

"...I knew that." The girl frowned a little. "An unreasonable occupation of scarce time-space resources. Oh well." She began to move forward, holding up a book in her hand as she did so. The embroidered title on the cover stated that it was 'On The Theory of Hoosan-Chang Flux Magions and its Applications to Quantum Magic'. "Take care of my collection back home, Bihu."

"...And I wish you'd show a little more respect to authority," the man sighed, as he watched the girl go. "I am one of the Four Seers, you know. At least Xian will save a fortune on reconstruction and insurance fees..." Shaking his head, he turned to go. "Good luck, Faroosa Perigren."

---

Elsewhere, a white-haired woman watched from the shadows, her eyes narrowed.

"I can sense it," she muttered. "Just as I expected... the powers here are strong, but untempered. A perfect occasion."

She looked over to the blackness behind. "Go, my pets. Prepare yourselves for your tasks. And do not forget the price of failure."

A slight chittering sounded, then faded away. After a moment, the woman turned, and headed into the blackness, letting it envelope her.

"Soon..."

Slowly, Tokio wandered amidst the other up-and-coming students, mostly keeping to himself. His white hair bounced along with him slightly as he cast glances at other students moving towards the building. For the first time in a while, he would be without his parents to guide him. They had given him plenty of know-how to survive without them, but part of him still felt... Empty? It was some sort-of feeling that he disliked. However, if he was to prove himself as their offspring, he would struggle onward to earn their pride.

His steps eventually led him to the majestic sight that was Alvar Academy's fountain. Slowly, he strolled up to the edge and peered into the water, staring back into his reflection. What he was was a mixture of forward-looking confidence, and wary feelings. No matter how much he assured himself all would be fine, he still felt slight insecurity about his new surroundings. Sighing, he turned and sat down on the edge of the fountain, before facing forward. Any other student passing by wouldn't have warranted any attention, but he saw one carrying a book that looked out of the ordinary...

Getting up, he pocketed his hands and moved forward. The girl seemed to be absorbed in her book, giving him ample time to get close and read the title of the book. Even after trying to pronounce the name, he still couldn't understand what any of it was about. Only 'Quantum Magic' stood out to him... Did it have something to do with time? "... Excuse me... What kind of book is that supposed to be?" he asked, having wound up traveling alongside her for the time-being.

"... Excuse me... What kind of book is that supposed to be?"

Faroosa seemed not to hear the boy speak, engrossed as she was in her reading. It took a repeated query to cause her to look up.

That, and she was in danger of running right into him.

"Oh, my apologies." The purple-haired girl smiled. "I was deeply engrossed in the specific polymorphic properties of the Hatate positronic magion. de Almona et al postulates that the particle's anti-magic properties are a logarithmic function of the positronium's own anti-matter properties, in keeping with the polymorphic attributes, but no one has been able to perform the experiment that he proposes to prove his postulate, which is why it remains a postulate. de Almona is the main editor of this book, of course, and he is a renowned expert in quantum magic theory, but he has a tendency to incorporate non-mainstream ideas into his own theories, with only a 64.3% apparent success rate. This is losing him credibility in the scientific magic scene, but in this case, specifically the theory of Hoosan-Chang flux magions, there is a 86.35% chance that he is on the right track. Hoosan and Chang theorized on the existence of these specific flux magions, and while they have yet to be definitely detected, several secondary postulates stemming from their theory have been experimentally confirmed, so it is timely for de Almona to incorporate this theory into the field of quantum magic. This harks back to..."

As she continued talking, her eyes gleamed with a kind of maniac energy. It was such a wonderful thing to be able to share what she knew with this person, whoever he was. Had he been asking a question? Perhaps, but she hadn't caught the question; nevertheless, it had to be something to do with her book, so surely he would be pleased, just as she was all too pleased to share her knowledge. Hopefully he wasn't so busy that he had to go somewhere else; for some reason people tended to do that. It was almost like they did not want to stay and listen, but that was nonsense, for no one could possibly resist the lure of knowledge, right?

Regret.

A concept Tokio started to understand as he unintentionally set the girl off in what was arguably the longest lecture he'd ever been given. None of these concepts made any sense to him... Hell, he barely understood his own power. He had aspects of his mother and father, but he couldn't properly control them. Now there was this... He was hearing concepts, names, and theories he never believe he'd been able to hear anywhere else in his lifetime. Nevermind the fact that, if he DID understand any of it, he'd have virtually no use for it from the sounds of things.

He almost wished he was sitting down by now, as he felt like the lecture would put him to sleep at some point while standing, a feat he'd not performed for some years. Inadvertently, the woman had managed to answer his question once he effectively summarized everything she was saying to him: A book about complicated and arguably useless information for the standard attendee of this academy. However, it seemed to mean a great deal to her. It reminded him of his mother in a sense... Except she was less verbal.

Much, much, much, much LESS verbal.

"... Anyone ever tell you that you talk way too much?" the boy couldn't help but admit when the finally arrived to a conclusion of her longer-than-necessary explanation. "Seriously, you need subtitles and translators to post editors notes about everything you just said." he continued, before folding his arms. "I can't tell whether all of what you just said applies more to magic or science. Where are you even from...?" he asked. Whether he had just set off another time bomb remained to be seen.

"Veronica Elwyn and Raina Oakley...two of Alvar's finest instructors...yet I cannot say I miss them."

A chuckle came from the other, shrouded figure. "Who would?" he added in a joking manner, a small grin spreading onto his partially hidden face. There was a small bit of chatter between the other human, and the two beings that accompanied them. The red-clad male stood in silence, folding his arms.

"I will not let you down, my lords."

With her disappearance, the second male sighed, running fingers through his black hair. "I don't think I'll ever like being addressed as a 'lord'," he muttered. He seemed to fall into a silent thought.

"...You're thinking of another guy and smirking. Are you okay with this?"

The red-clad male seemed to snap back to reality. "Huh? Did you say something?" he questioned. The remaining thread of the last conversation seemed to register. "Another guy?" his eyebrow quirked, before he grinned broadly. "I can assure you, he isn't as cute as me," he laughed heartily.

So here it is, a voice thought to herself. The Academy. Standing at the entrance of the courtyard, before the massive school laid out before her, was a black-haired girl. Her light-eyes scanned over the structure, taking in its beauty in a calm silence.

The girl, no more than sixteen, folded her arms. So this was where she would be attending school. In order to learn to control her apparent powers. Sparing a glance to others within the courtyard--and there were a lot, the girl scoffed under her breath.

She already had a faint hint of distaste in her mouth.

Her eyes fluttered up to the sky, catching a sparkle of some sort, high above them. Finding herself momentarily curious, the girl shoved the thought away for now, before approaching slowly. She wanted to be close enough to the school, but not be among the crowds.

After all, Adrienna Soloa preferred her personal space.

"...which is the aim of the research."

Faroosa paused to catch her breath. Apparently the boy chose this moment to interject.

"... Anyone ever tell you that you talk way too much? Seriously, you need subtitles and translators to post editors notes about everything you just said. I can't tell whether all of what you just said applies more to magic or science. Where are you even from...?"

The girl blinked, then chuckled. "Sorry, was I talking at too high a level for you? I tend to do that, you know. I also tend to forget to introduce myself. Did I introduce myself? I am 98.3% sure that I haven't, since I am 99.56% certain that this is the first time I have met you or a person with your likeness. So I shall hasten to rectify that oversight."

She held out a hand, and smiled broadly. "I am Faroosa Augustine Questor II of Perigran, one of the Seven Great Houses of the Celestial Empire of Xian. But you can call me Faroosa, or whatever else tickles your fancy. I am not at all particular. Have you heard of Xian, by the way? I could tell you about it if you have not." Her eyes seemed to gleam at that thought.

I am 98.3% sure that I haven't, since I am 99.56% certain that this is the first time I have met you or a person with your likeness. So I shall hasten to rectify that oversight."

Once more it began, though to a lesser extent. He was a boy who learned to speak his piece however blunt, and as simply as possible. This girl, on the other hand, seemed to severely stretch out what she needed to say, and in a scientific manner no less. Though he could understand what she meant, there didn't seem to be any reason to include percentages in all of it because... Quite simply, they really had not met before, and they certainly did not exchange names.

"Abaddon help me, she may be the first one I kill." he thought inwardly, hanging his head.

"I am Faroosa Augustine Questor II of Perigran, one of the Seven Great Houses of the Celestial Empire of Xian. But you can call me Faroosa, or whatever else tickles your fancy. I am not at all particular. Have you heard of Xian, by the way? I could tell you about it if you have not."

Tokio looked at her outstretched hand, before shrugging. At least she couldn't verbally stretch THAT out. However, he wasn't the type to shake hands so suddenly... Or ever, as far as he was aware of. "Long name and title... Mine is Andromalius. Ketu Andromalius... I don't shake hands." he added, before she continued. She was ready to explain about her homeworld, and this time he knew better than to ask for a full-detail report of her home world.

"N-no! No, it's fine. I'm sure where you come from is a great place. Just spare me the details." The hours and hours of details, he left off. "I just come from a simple place called Eden. Less regal-sounding than your world, and alot more... Troubled." he added, tilting his head back.
