Hey everyone at the Flux! We are going to be relocating our forum! Zetaboards has treated us well over the years, but we've decided that moving to another service is what is best for us now. As members, you are free to begin moving your RPs and whatever else you will want to. If you have questions or need help moving, please reach out to Red November, Shine, or Spire (you can usually find one of us down in the cbox)!

| Welcome to the Flux!
We're a single-thread RPG/Creative Writing/Arts/hang out and chat forum! We welcome anything you've got to show us, from arts, crafts, graphics, sprites, to fanfic, original stories, novels, short stories, to RPGs, or if you just want to hang out and chat with us, you're more then welcome. We offer a variety of boards across the forum, so you're sure to find a place to fit in somewhere.
More of the lurker type? I'm sure you'll find some good browsing material! But please don't be a stranger, head down to find the source of that incessant clicking: The C-box. You're sure to find someone to chat with there!
The Flux was built by a former RPG-community, so expect lots of activity there. However, after we moved on from our last site we decided to expand.
We have a helpful, dedicated staff, ready and willing to answer questions, or offer help with whatever you need, whenever you need it.
So don't be shy, come on in, introduce yourself, and become a part of our laid-back community. But don't forget to look over the rules. |

Necropolis is an RP concept I've had stagnating for some time.
The idea is that it would move at a pace and with a tone entirely player-determined. The concept itself is simple: we are a group (or multiple groups) of mercenaries hired by a small town, Acropolis, to clear out the great, ancient ruined city overshadowing their small agricultural encampment as the dead have begun to rise within. This is the eponymous Necropolis.
This is where things get interesting. Taking on the style of a dungeon crawler, we would gear up and dive in. As we move through, we 'discover' more of the lore of the world - created by us, the players, entirely on a whim. Necropolis is a great ancient city of many tiers, 95% of which is underground, and aside from an end goal of reaching the Palace of the Dead and liberating the Vitality Orb from the control of our Big Bad, our side-quests, internal character plots, and journey itself is entirely determined by the player.
Whether we split up or stay together is up to you. Whether we move through slowly or quickly is up to you. The monsters that we encounter, you create and shape. The loot our characters receive, you design. The race your character is, their skills, their class... are they a staff-wielding mage clad entirely in a suit of iron? A crossdressing ranger using crossbows and enchanted muskets who wears armoured dresses? A great titanic half-beast rune lord whose own physical strength is woven in with his knowledge of the wild and his tribe's runic lore?
Clearly the game is not played without restrictions. Whilst minor decisions such as new pieces of gear and learning new skills need not be requested, major plot diversions must be run past me first. Alongside this, to encourage equality and a sense of journey, it is imperative your characters must be created with room for improvement. You cannot play as Lord of the Nine Circles of Hell, King of the Regency and Harbinger of the Undead, as that's somewhat pointless - my only demand is that your character MUST learn something.
For some flavour, magic does exist, and beyond that, wackiness can come in many forms. Want to play a space marine from a parallel timeline twenty millennia in the future? I don't mind. Want to have your own time paradox sideplots? Sure, why not. Just so long as nothing desperately obscures or changes the plot too dramatically, Necropolis can be an RP where your imagination is, to an extent, the limit.
Alongside this, it is for you to determine whether our journey will be one of tragedy and heartbreak, or mindless sadism and hilarious bloodshed. Perhaps both? As the GM I will encourage challenges and throw some at you, and even for those of true resilience, it may not always be tests of battle; within Necropolis lie far more gruesome traps intended to offput graverobbers, and even mystical tests of character designed to manipulate any who pass by.
Before I go further with this, my three rules are thus:
- Do not alter anything too dramatic without my permission. If you have to THINK about whether it's too dramatic or not, probably best to ask me. - Do not attempt to tamper with others' characters either directly or indirectly. This is one aspect of limitation I must stress for creativity rights. - Don't be boring.
The plot begins with a ride upon an ancient magical stone elevator which takes us down to the bowels of Necropolis and then deactivates itself. We are left with a goal, a few days' worth of supplies, and each other. From this we must find our way around, survive our time in Necropolis, and when our tenure is complete... discover an exit.
Will our venture end in success, or will we simply be another unknown party to lose themselves in the abyss of the City of the Dead?
I suppose we'd best find out.
