Hyde Park, London 4:56 AM
Hyde Park, one of the largest Royal Parks of the great City of London, was shrouded in fog. This was not unusual- the city was well known for it's shrouded nature. What was unusual was that one particular patch of fog was -wrong-.
It was located deep in the park, and it was different. This patch of fog crackled with energy, seemingly alive. The grassy area around it seemed to thrum with life, and a causal observer, if they had been present, would have noticed the flowers starting to bloom around it.
They would have also noticed a large creature crawl forth from this fog bank after a time, it's multiple red eyes glistening in the dark. It skittered into the wooded area nearby, confused and disoriented. The bank of fog seemed to calm down as it left, dispersing into a more familiar mist.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
London
The next Week
"In the past few days, reports of mysterious attacks against animals in Hyde Park have continued to rise. Several of the city's destitute who spend time in the park have reported 'sightings' of large monsters, but these reports are being discounted by the head of the local police..."
(OOC: Such reports you would have heard on this day. Each of you is currently on your way to some destination important to you, be it work, school or play. As you make your way into the park, each of you will find yourselves in a secluded area of the park, and run into each other. There, the Red-Eye Scorpion will attack!)

"Funny seeing them here after having seen them in their natural habitats... Funny indeed..."
The mutter was low enough that Kimiko only heard snatches, but what she did hear piqued her curiosity instantly. Their natural habitats? She couldn't have heard that right – from her studies she knew that the Civilisations in the Creature Realm were terrifying, dangerous places where few humans had ever set foot, and from which even fewer returned. It was clear that there was more to the woman than met the eye, but that much more...?
She must have misheard.
"All alone..."
Howell's cryptic whisper attracted Kimiko's attention, and her gaze shifted from Kate's duel to the one who had spoken, wondering to what he was referring. But her interest quickly waned in the comment, her focus swiftly returned to the battle at hand. It appeared to be turning against the Aqua Strider, the Smoulderhorn's superior strength proving formidable in their clash.
"You can do it Miss Kate..."
She had to admit, the cheer coming from Howell was unexpected. But though she felt an oh-so-slight degree of kinship with the girl at her trial, it wasn't enough to overcome the mental barriers to participating in ordinary social interaction she'd built up over the years. Kimiko leaned back in her seat, the usually taciturn girl keeping her silence. Kenina would say she was being antisocial...
The thought of her outspoken friend chiding her for her lack of interaction aroused a pang of guilt in the half-Japanese girl, but the only visible signal of her discomfort was her absently twirling a strand of stray hair around her index finger. It would take more than a phoenix's scorn to incite her to speak.

"You can do it Miss Kate..."
Kate heard Howell's words of encouragement and smiled, Aqua Strider fell towards the ground and Kate quickly motioned hoping for him to recover, at the last second he thrust out the golden tendrils piercing the Smolderhorn as it slammed into him causing his body to explode in a flash of light with a splash of water.
"I told you your puny creature was no match for my Smolderhorn." Brittany said proudly.
"We'll see about that." Kate said as she motioned again this time however she knew that she had to really fight, and she couldn't afford to get hit. "Steam star Grapplog!" She called out out of a blue portal with the water symbol shot a large flying starfish like creature.
"You're joking right, Steam star Grapplog, there is no way that thing can stand up to my Smolderhorn. You should just give up now."
"We'll see about that, if I've learned one thing, it's not to let a creatures appearance or size deceive you." With that Kate made several swift motions as Steam Star Grapplog shot around the arena, spraying high pressure blasts of water t the Smolderhorn from one side, before darting over, or under the creature and blasting the other.
"Water? Really didn't you learn Smolderhorn's body is as tough as rocks."
"Keep it up Grapplog." Kate called out as she made more erratic attacks, some hitting the opposing creatures others splashing into the ground in front of it or beside it. As this continued Brittany started to laugh, clearly feeling like the match was already decided.
"Come on, at least try to hit your opponent."
"You said it your self, Steam Star Grapplog is no match for a rock brute like Smolderhorn. At least in a contest of power." Kate said with a smile. Stopping Grapplog's movement and looking exhausted her self. "So come and get me."
"Smolderhorn crush that starfish!" Brittany shouted forcing her creature to charge. However it quickly lost its footing and went sliding for it instead. "Whats going on get up!"
"My attacks all hit their mark. Steam Star Grapplog lacks the power to do much damage however it certainly has the water power to cover the floor in enough to make your rock hard creature, and the floor very slick, and thus next to impossible to control at high speed.
"So what, its not like you can beat smolder horn by making him slide."
"I know that, however your smolderhorn has a nice weak point if i'm not mistaken they are not much more than living creatures of rock, with magma for blood." Kate said as she locked eyes on a whole in the chest of Smolderhorn, the one par that glowed a reddish orange while the bulk of the body was a shiny black and green due to the water.
"So what, being made of rocks just means my Smolderhorn can't feel pain."
"Exactly which means, it wouldn't scream out as Aqua Strider pierced its body. Now Steam Star Grapplog finish it off!" Kate called out as she thrust her palm forward and Steam Star Grapplog let out a high pressure blast of water right at the glowing spot, as it's tentacle like tendrils grabbed the horns to keep the stream on target.
As the two creatures neared a wall Steam star Grapplog released smolder horn and slipped off to the side, the hulking rock brute slammed into the wall before flickering away , leaving only a few flames and leaves in the air as it vanished. Kate Motioned for the Cyber Virus to return to the creature realm as she her self slumped over totally exhausted from the fight.

The finale of the fight between Brittany and Kate was dynamic, with Kate proving that she had the capacity to outwit her opponents. When she collapsed Brittany, June and Laurence all rushed to her side and proceeded to use a healing spell.
"Clever girl," Master Derrick Dempsey said, giving Kate a newfound consideration. He had spoken to her in passing - but now, he saw in her more potential than before. This potential included an option to train someone less...stereotypical than Santiago.
"Really, Derrick? You think you can make up for Captain Hook?" His sister asked, completely reading him like an open book. Derrick didn't respond, but his face did turn a shade of scarlet. Master Roscoe ascended to the podium once Kate was back on her feet.
"Congratulations, Ms. Gage. You have passed the test."
Short and sweet, and Fire acolytes entered the arena to dry it out before the following match. As soon as Laurence had Kate back to her seat, he turned and addressed Richard.
"Mr. Eifman, you are up."
Out in the fresh arena, a figure stood. She was in her mid 20's, and struck quite the figure. She had red hair that ran all the way to the base of her spine, and her face had a tattoo of a stylized bird on it. She had green eyes that sparkled with a vim and vigor all her own. She bowed deeply as Richard approached.
"Hello! I hope you don't expect me to go easy on you, newbie!" She said, her voice more contralto than soprano. Then, she danced as much as performed her summoning kata.
"Dark-Seer, Jurlon!." She called out, a summoning portal mixing Light and Dark appearing before her. From the portal, the creature slithered. It stood twice-again as tall as her, and regarded Richard with disdain. A voice spoke to all in their minds,
Truly, you would have me face a child? Have you not better things to do, Lenore?
"Just do as I say, Jurlon," Lenore responded, fixing her eyes of Richard.
(OOC: You are up, Xion! Jurlon is a Rot Worm as well, but has light magic infused in. He's more of a caster type, and an Anti-mage at that (see his card for inspiration). Have fun!)

"Heh... Creative way to win. Take advantage of the make of the opponent and use the make of your own creature. Exploiting real-life physics to win an otherwise otherworldly battle." Richard mused, raising a hand to brush some of his hair aside, taking another sip of the drink he'd taken as an offering from Cyr. There weren't too many people left to be challenged now... The only two left to be challenge were Cyr and-
"Mr. Eifman, you are up."
... Himself.
"Well, looks like i'm out of time to think. Out of the dark and into the light... Not my idea of fun." Richard mumbled to himself quietly, setting his drink down as he cast a glance at Cyr. "You worry too much, I think... Times are different now... Need to roll with them, not the past." he smiled, his hair falling back into place over his eyes as he made his way to the arena. If there was any confidence or lack thereof in his stance, he didn't let it show. He looked about as normal as the next human as he stepped in. His opponent was female, and a rather striking one. The tattoo, whether it was fake or real, depicted an avian... And the fire-red hair she had. Was she another party girl or something? Did it give a hint as to what creatures she used?
She bowed to him as a welcome greeting, a gesture he returned a moment later. It was impossible to see his eyes behind shaggy hair, and perhaps he liked it this way. It was harder to read his expressions, and made it easier to hide his feelings.
"Hello! I hope you don't expect me to go easy on you, newbie!"
"There's no fun in that. Why should I be treated any differently than everyone before me?" he smiled, channeling mana into his glove to transform it, before readying a stance. The first thing he realized partway into the kata... 'Are her movements... Mimicking mine? A dark user?'
"Dark-Seer Jurlon"
"Lava-Tube Crawler!"
Both portals opened, but Richard noticed something bizarre about the opposing portal. It shared colors and even a similar feeling with his own. Both were comprised of two elements and not just one. However, while his was also infused with fire, the one of his opponent made his eyes widen in surprise. "L... Light? And Darkness? What is this?" he questioned, genuinely a little shaken up at one of the most violently-opposed civilizations having come together to create one creature. Most striking was its appearance. Immediately Richard could recognize a fellow Rot Worm in its appearance, but it also bore some resemblance of the Enforcers, one of the Light civilizations most staunchest defenders.
What followed next seemed to only ice the cake at how bad a predicament he was in.
Truly, you would have me face a child? Have you not better things to do, Lenore?
"Just do as I say, Jurlon,"
"Heh... You can talk... A contrary existence standing right before me with an intelligence not before seen in Rot Worms. I never even thought about it... Whether it was possible or not. I saw it in other civilizations, but I never thought to consider if Light and Darkness could do the same." he remarked, raising a hand to his head to rub, as he looked to Boomer, who still seemed ready to fight his hardest despite how powerful his opponent really was. However, unlike the more intelligent Rot Worm who knew the rules of battle and what would classify as an enemy, Boomer felt some concern needing to fight his own species, which clashed with his desire to attack the light. "Don't worry, Boomer. We'll find some way to win."
"Attaboy, newbie. You keep looking adversity right in the face and fight back with all your might." Lenore remarked with a smile. Though even without looking into his eyes, she could tell he was shaken up. He had a fondness for the dark, and especially the Rot Worms, so needing to fight one was difficult enough for him. Adding to it his hidden distaste of the Light and having her own creature bring it to bare made him question just how extensive the realm of Kaijudo really was. What was possible and what was not...
"Alright, that's enough being shocked... I didn't come here to stare dumbfounded, I came here to graduate... If you stand in my way, then I have to defeat you. Simple as that. Boomer, move in!" Richard held his hand out, Boomer roaring in defiance at the creature that stood before him, before he scurried forward on nomerous clawed limbs.
'Such a base and thoughtless creature. It seems almost pitiable that I need to end you... Almost.' Jurlons thought echoed as two clawed limbs rose and collected energy in their palms. One hand held condensed light energy, the other condensed darkness, before it sent both flying at the advancing Lava-Tube Crawler. The creature grit its teeth and tanked through the first blast of dark energy, letting it wash off a moment later, but it felt a greater sense of danger from the light projectile, and twisted its body out of the way of the attack, letting it hit the arena floor without incident. Noting its dislike for the light, Jurlon proceeded to generate two projectiles of light in its hands now, preparing to throw them.
However, Boomer was fast to react, lashing out with its feeler-like tendrils to snare Jurlons hands and force them against one another. The collision of light energy forced them to explore on the light-and-dark creature, a gutteral growl letting Richard and Boomer know it hurt a bit. However, once the smoke cleared, Jurlon lifted himself up and shook slightly.
'I give you credit for that, I did not imagine you would possess the thought capacity to turn my own attack against me. However, I will not make the same mistake twice.'
Jurlons voice, echoing once more, seemed more menacing and imposing than it was before. Opening his mouth, Jurlon spewed forth a black mist that began to invade the battlefield, surrounding Boomer and Richard for a moment before seeming to vanish. What... Was the point of that? Richard shook his head lightly, before fanning his arm out. "Not sure what that was about, but... Boomer, inci-"
'You seem to have trouble comprehending my existence, he who shuns the light.'
"... What?" Richard stopped now, staring at Jurlon. In the middle of being shaken up, Jurlon quickly advanced on its own numerous legs, channeling light energy into its claw to swipe at Boomer and slam the hybrid darkness-fire creature aside. Near Jurlon, Lenore simply smiled knowingly, reaching back to run her figners through her hair.
"Looks like Jurlon's stopped going easy on you. You could say he can read your moves like an open book now. He really isn't like most Rot Worms. How will you overcome something that can tell what you're most likely to do next before even you yourself are sure of it? You've done well up to this point, newbie... But now let's see if you can go farther." she smiled. At the end of it, it was still just a test. However, more than just his capability of being an Adept was being tested. It was a test of deep-rooted feelings. He loved his creatures to the point where they felt like they were more than just tools of battle, like they were beings he'd known for a long time. However, would that very same caring come back to bite him in the rear?
'You doubt yourself, young one. You realize your own weakness, as a human and as an Adept. However, will you mold that weakness into a strength or let it consume you? This lesson will show whether you are ready to move on or not. As you are, I deem you...'
Once more, jurlon's thoughts echoed in his mind, now more imposing than ever, almost like he were being spoken to from right beside him. Richard couldn't tell what the mist that Jurlon breathed had done, but whatever it did, it seemed to make Jurlon stronger... Not physically, but it seemed to enhance his awareness. Brute strength was not truly his strong suite, but the real threat lied in his mental capacity. Despite being a creature partly of light, he possessed the will of darkness in him. As a creature of darkness, mind games were one of their favorites... And right now, Richard was losing badly. All he could do was watch as Jurlon walked toward the downed Boomer, who was hissing as he tried to get up.
'... Unworthy to be an Adept.'
The thought hammer on Richards' mind as Jurlon raised his claws condensing dark and light energy within them, before forcing the projectiles down on Boomer, causing the creature great suffering as the violent combination of dark and light energy took place with Boomer at the center of it. It took no more than a few seconds of it to properly finish off the Lava-Tube Crawler... However, in a fit of surprise, Jurlon watched Boomer lash his tendrils out and siezed him by the throat.
'So you still cling? But you have already lost. What can you hope to-'
"Jurlon, get away! It's a last-ditch attack!" Lenore shouted out, aware of the prideful tendencies of the Dune Geckoes and their staunch refusal to let a battle go without inflicting a lingering wound on a foe. Even in the weaker Lava-Tube Crawler, it had the mindset to know it was going to leave a lasting effect on Jurlon... Even if it couldn't defeat him, it would even the playing field for Richard's next creature. Pulling himself up, Boomer growled and unleashed a jet of boiling spittle on Jurlon, sizzling the hybrid creature as it screeched and proceeded to swat Boomer off of him, before struggling to recover from the attack. Meanwhile, Boomer landed close to Richard, groaning in pain as it looked at its partner.
"B-Boomer...? Just hold on, we can still win...!" Richard called out, raising his hand to try and rally the fallen Rot Worm. Almost like it could sense the boys unease at what he saw, Boomer's tendrils reached out to raise his chin, a way of telling him to keep his head high, before he let out a small screech with a nod. He did all he could... The rest was on Richard now, before Boomers body seemed to be enveloped in a mix of purple and red energy, vanishing a moment later. Following this, Richard seemed almost speechless for a moment. Nearly ready to shout out for his partner, he remembered that banishment was not the same as death. Though it hurt no less to lose his friend for the time being, it saved him from doing something more embarassing than looking like he was lost as he stared at the space where Boomer once was.
"Heheh... He's an odd fellow. He cares about his creatures quite a bit... Almost too much, even." Lenore smiled, keeping the thoughts to herself. She admired the boys dedication to his creatures, but that dedication would only go so far if he couldn't defeat Jurlon...

"All alone..."
She rubbed the side of her arm with a disarming grin clearly plastered to her face. It was her default expression. Cheerful, fun, relaxed. She did nothing to persuade anyone otherwise. My cheeks hurt...She reached up and rubbed the sides of her mouth from how awkwardly the smile lingered.
"You can do it Miss Kate..."
She watched the match and felt herself tense at certain dangerous moments. But her cheers were more physical. She clapped, raised her hands, grinned wider. Kimiko was silent and uninvolved. The others were likely as well. She thought she would be next but no, it was time for Richard to give it a go. She turned and raised a brow, about to offer a lucky handshake. He had been distracted the whole time and didn't see her get up to leave she thought.
"Well, looks like i'm out of time to think. Out of the dark and into the light... Not my idea of fun."
"What? Is the light too bright for your huge underdeveloped subterranean eyes?" She quoted from some past science fiction spoof, enjoying the way it rolled off her tongue like so many other popular quips. But he spoke again, forcing her smile to waver a moment until she got the hang of the way her throat tightened.
"You worry too much, I think... Times are different now... Need to roll with them, not the past."
"Oh that... of course. I won't think about it anymore. After all, the past is dead and gone right?" She smirked and turned away, trying to appear coy when all she wanted to do was hide. It struck a chord somewhere deep and she could feel it stinging, even if it was mainly due to careless words. She wished at that moment she had Hilfee out so she could clutch the rabbit fairy like a plush doll, simply bury her face in the soft fur of her ears and regress a few years in to childhood. Then again, childhood is not somewhere I'd like to visit anytime soon...
"Don't worry, Boomer. We'll find some way to win."
Gods... this won't end well... Boomer doesn't fancy other worms as enemies yet.
"Attaboy, newbie. You keep looking adversity right in the face and fight back with all your might."
"Not sure what that was about, but... Boomer, inci-"
The battle continued, the upper-hand was clearly not Richards, though by now she was regarding it as Boomer's fight. She had grown somewhat attached to the creature and seeing it finally thrown back in front of it's summoner, gurgling in pain brought the images of her own creatures in such a state back to her. She had to hold her stomach, feeling the bile start to rise a moment until she remembered they didn't truly die, but ended up back where they came from.
They can die there though...
"B-Boomer...? Just hold on, we can still win...!"
"Heheh... He's an odd fellow. He cares about his creatures quite a bit... Almost too much, even."
I just want this day to be over now... I want my friends alive, I want to go back to my apartment, I want to eat a bowl of chocolate ice cream, I want...
"All alone..."
Oh shut up memory, already told you to stop it today.

Kimiko nodded to Kate as she returned to the seat, impressed by the strategy that Kate had successfully employed to beat the seemingly impenetrable Smoulderhorn. “Nice one,” she muttered, unwilling to give much more than that. Any further conversation would have been curtailed anyway by Richard being led away from his seat and into the arena. Kimiko permitted herself a small smile by way of wishing him good fortune as he was led away. Their initial encounter had created what she perceived to be a faintly stronger link between them than the one she shared with any other in the party, and she genuinely wished him well for his trial.
His opponent was revealed to be a creature blending both the Dark and the Light, which Kimiko was surprised to see. She knew such creatures existed, had been warned about them before, but any monster blending the two elements, harnessing the strengths of both civilisations, was sure to be a potent opponent indeed. Richard had shown himself to be a capable duellist, but this would be a challenge to say the least.
He summoned Boomer first, who appeared to match Jurlon well at the beginning, but soon found itself outmatched when the other Rot Worm employed its skill to gain the upper hand in the battle.
“C'mon, Boomer...” Kimiko hardly noticed that the though escaped her lips in a whisper, being intensely wrapped up in the battle. Unfortunately, it seemed that Boomer was not to prevail in the fight, but Kimiko couldn't help but grin as the hybrid Creature managed to inflict a parting shot on Jurlon. In a touching display of the bond between duellist and monster, Boomer reached out as though to reassure Richard. For a second, Kimiko was afraid that the Lava-Tube Crawler might actually have made physical contact, and in doing so pull Richard back into the Creature Realms along with it, but thankfully it faded away before such an event came to pass.
Kimiko leaned back in her seat, her hand creeping up to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Nibbles would be up next, and though he wouldn't like the Light aspect of his opponent, with Boomer's help he might just be able to pull off a win.

Looking at how Kate had managed to turn the cards on table for her battle made Howell sigh in relief, after all despite the lack of social interaction between them, they sorta were like a classroom or at least tied by the life threatening experience they had. And yet in times like this he wondered if he wasn't the only one that thought so, if it was some sort of instinctive feeling of aggregation he had toward them for they all were somewhat distanced from the outside world's community by having to keep their training and newly aquired knowledges a secret. Maybe they all just cared for their own, something that wasn't really unexpected given that they had no real tie with each other before their first meeting.
The next one to fight was Richard, someone he didn't really shared much time with. But in the end with whom he had? Howell wondered how to give a sort of cheer up to him, but while Kimiko's smile was an adequate one, he couldn't see himself to either do it or other manly things like pats on shoulders, thumbs up and the sort. He contented himself with giving him a polite good luck out there before the battle started and to look at the fight with the others. Fight that compared to everyone's else wasn't so appealing to the young man.
De gustibus non disputandum est...
Howell had to repeat himself as he watched a battle between creatures that to be fair didn't seemed majestic, cool or even pretty looking. Appearances weren't all, he knew that pretty well, but they were worms, creatures he had never been to pleased with. How Richard managed to find them cute and being so friendly and caring with them was a mystery to him. True, the Darkness aligned guy had a way better relationship with his Creatures that Howell had with both Yevaud and H.R. with the former being pretty bitchy about everything and the latter being, well... H.R. Lost in thoughts, Howell missed part of the fight, only to return to reality to see Boomer being defeated. Next up in line was Nibbles...
Seriously, Scaradorables aren't cute enough for you...
Howell thought as his mind was taken back into his wonderings. Beside his own battle, every other opponent seemed to be custom tailored to fight against both of his fellow Acolytes' Creatures. And it was required a degree of ingenuity and bond between Duelist and Creature to overcome the opponent. In their case the ability to use a second Creature was what made the difference, but in his one? Yevaud could easily have stomped upon the Reflector Cannon, even with Lucy going all out with her spells there was little to prevent the Dragon to impose his superior power upon the Fractal. Maybe this was his true test? To not rely right on his most powerful option but to consider the duel as a chance to push his limits? It was, after all, what he did in his fight...
"Maybe victory isn't important, maybe isn't what they're testing on us..." He whispered.

Thanks to the masters healing spell Kate was able to continue watching the matches however she was still rather exhausted. Sure others had narrowly won but she literally pushed herself to her limits. She had collapsed afterwards which made her wonder if she had what it takes to be a duelist.
Richard's opponent had summoned some weird rot worm creature, in comparison Nibbles was adorable. However she knew that looks were deceiving after all Smolderhorn looked like it would wreck both of her creatures but she was still able to pull out a win. Richard had summoned a fire an darkness creature- which unfortunately wound up falling to the light/dark Jurlon.
"Hopefully he can remember to fight smart not hard. " Kate muttered when she realized that with the fire/dark creature's fall on the field it was up to Nibbles to pull a win, if it was a show of power there would be no way Nibbles could win, but if Kate remembered correctly darkness was about deception, slight of hand(or tentacles) and just overall sneakiness.
Kate thought she heard Howell whispering something but she wasn't a hundred percent sure what he said she was sure she heard something along the lines of Victory not being important. She had to wonder if maybe he was right thinking about the matches so far, powerful creatures used by experienced duelists vs complete amateurs. Maybe thy weren't expecting them to win after all, perhaps it was truly a test of their limits.
"Just keep it together and don't give up!" Kate said as she stood up to cheer Richard on, only to be reminded of her utter lack of energy as she sat down rather quickly feeling lightheaded.

'Is that them cheering me on? Man, I must look kind of pathetic now, close to crying for a creature that isn't even dead.' Richard thought, crouching for a moment to think about his next plan of action. All he had left was Nibbles to battle with. Thankfully, Boomer had left a going-away present in the form of weakening Jurlon quite a bit with a final attack. Even though his Grave Worm Hatchling didn't come anywhere near as powerful as Jurlon, that helping hand may have helped him out quite a bit. 'Alright, that's enough thinking... It's time to win. There's more on the line here than simple pride.'
Slowly, he stood back up, reaching back to scratch behind his head with his ungloved hand, smiling. "Ah, sorry about that. I'm still a little new to the whole battling scene. Up until I joined this group, I always assumed destruction was the very end." he spoke, before shaking his head. "Though I prefer it this way. I'd hate to summon monsters just for them to be condemned to death if they lose a fight. Speaking of... I believe Boomer created an opening for me. Allow me to take advantage of it... Come, Grave Worm Hatchling!" he called out, adopting the kata and executing the movements required to call out his second rot worm. Once the portal opened, the oversized and, admittedly childish-acting, grub appeared. A low screech was released first, before he looked around to discern where he was.
"So that's your first creature? You sure you can win with that, kid?" Lenore spoke, her head cocked to the site as she gave the creature a once-over. They had the potential to grow up to be truly mammoth in size and power, but it was highly unlikely that Richard knew this. At the moment, Richard simply regarded her with the same neutral look he always seemed to have, that smile present on his face beneath unseen eyes. Either he was sure of himself and how he would move next... Or he would wing it. The only thing he was truly certain of in her eyes, was that he was aware of the Lava-Tube Crawlers final attack against Jurlon, and now his own creature and hers were nearly matched for power.
"Only one way to find out if I can. Let's show 'em a good time, Nibbles!" he called out, raising his hands, the oversized grub rearing back and flailing his little arms. Once Richard's hand pushed forward, Nibbles likewise rushed forward, curling into a fleshy wheel and rolling at Jurlon, whose hands reached out to catch and stop tne onrushing rot worm. "Still got some fight in you, huh? Alright then. Nibbles, time to unwind!" he continued with a smile.
Of course, unwinding in this case meant practically springing from his uncurled position to smash his flabby backside against Jurlon's head. The aforementioned opposing creature let out a pained groan as he released Nibbles before stumbling back. Though slightly disoriented, it still possessed the focus to lift its hands and channel chaotic energies into them before firing them at the ground infront. Richard's eyes narrowed, before he opened his mouth wide to breathe, while Nibbles took the brunt of the attacks. The lack of sound of a creature being banished allowed others to know that the Grave Worm Hatchling had not been dealt with yet. However, when the smoke cleared, the creature looked just a bit bigger... Was it trying to be intimidating with its teeth gritted?
"I think your 'Boomer', as you called him, was a bit of a better fighter than this guy. No offense, but it seems all he's got going for him is looks in your eyes. He actually looks adorable trying to seem bigger than he is!" Lenore chuckled, raising a hand to her mouth to keep from laughing louder than she could have. At the same time, however, so was Richard, which came off a bit odd to her. Was he laughing despite losing?
"Seem bigger? Oh, no, he only looks like that when he gets too much to eat and can't really digest it. It's a pretty sure sign we're gonna see it again." he paused for a moment, letting the realization sink in about what exactly was coming. The Grave Worm Hatchling had dug in before Jurlon attacked, and piecing together the movement Richard made... "Ah, you can see what happened now, huh? I call him Nibbles because he's a pretty voracious eater... Call it an ironic name." he finished, before raising his hand and clenching it. "Let it out, Nibbles!"
On cue, the Grave Worm Hatchling all-but-belched the contents of what he had eaten, mass quantities of dark energy inhaled from Jurlon's attack. He had to tank the light portion of the strikes, but managed to contain the other half and, infused with large quantities of his own spittle, made for a large and rather messy projectile that smashed into Jurlon, bathing the creature in unholy and rather unwholesome chemicals that ate away at the creatures form until it was banished a moment later, no sign of returning to be a menace. Nibbles simply looked around at others that could see him, before his stubby arms raised up to his mouth while he let out a little squeak. His idea of being embarassed others had to see that.
"Eheheh... That's my little buddy." Richard grinned, standing alongside the Grave Worm Hatchling as he eyed Lenore. "Gotta admit, you've got one heck of a creature to stand by your side, but i've got my own. Maybe one day i'll have a Jurlon of my own though." he added with a slight grin, while Lenore playfully stuck out her tongue, before nodding.
"I can tell, even after that, you're still pretty new to the battling scene. However, you employ some interesting tactics... Despite your Grave Worm Hatchling having no unique abilities of its own, you managed to make use of its qualities instead. There's definitely hope for you yet, Richard. Haha, I can't keep calling you a kid forever now. Maybe i'll stick to calling you rookie instead?" she asked with a grin, upon which Richard hung his head and sighed.
'I'm gonna be the perpetual newbie, aren't I?'
As if to cheer him up, Nibbles turned and gave him a big lick along the cheek, upon which he shudder. "Oh, hey, a reason to bathe. Just what I needed... Man, I think I smell that pizza we gave you last week, augh..." he groaned, while Nibbles looked rather proud of what he had accomplished.
