Hyde Park, London
4:56 AM

Hyde Park, one of the largest Royal Parks of the great City of London, was shrouded in fog. This was not unusual- the city was well known for it's shrouded nature. What was unusual was that one particular patch of fog was -wrong-.

It was located deep in the park, and it was different. This patch of fog crackled with energy, seemingly alive. The grassy area around it seemed to thrum with life, and a causal observer, if they had been present, would have noticed the flowers starting to bloom around it.

They would have also noticed a large creature crawl forth from this fog bank after a time, it's multiple red eyes glistening in the dark. It skittered into the wooded area nearby, confused and disoriented. The bank of fog seemed to calm down as it left, dispersing into a more familiar mist.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

London

The next Week

"In the past few days, reports of mysterious attacks against animals in Hyde Park have continued to rise. Several of the city's destitute who spend time in the park have reported 'sightings' of large monsters, but these reports are being discounted by the head of the local police..."

(OOC: Such reports you would have heard on this day. Each of you is currently on your way to some destination important to you, be it work, school or play. As you make your way into the park, each of you will find yourselves in a secluded area of the park, and run into each other. There, the Red-Eye Scorpion will attack!)

The same old lessons, ones she'd overheard for most of her childhood, sitting in the corner trying to draw the things she saw on the tablets themselves. All of the creatures she knew were real but as a child thought she could capture in her notebooks, smiling at the likeness and imagining they were all there, waiting to be her friends. She laughed ironically at how things turned out, and her current distrust for the world beyond the veil, and those associated with it.

Master Tong - “This world of ours is protected from another world – the Creature Realms. Home of every monster imaginable. Dragons, griffons, hydras- if it's a mythological creature, chances are the myths are in fact sightings of creatures that cross the Veil.”

That's what you want us to believe, that it's protected right? Well of course it is... Today was nothing, those scorpions were lost on their way to a damn birthday party and were only asking directions. It's the house with the balloon everytime right? She smiled anyways, not looking Master Roscoe in the eyes. It was hard to stay angry with the elder woman there, showing with her patience and care that there really were people out there, doing exactly what she said. She closed her eyes, putting on a charming smile.

Master Tong - “...A tear may develop. Not unlike a tear in a piece of fabric. At that point, a Creature may enter this world. You saw that today- the mist, the Scorpions- classic signs of a Veil Breach.”

The library, it came more vividly in her memory now and she almost wanted to find the corner she claimed as her own, the chairs she set up with the blanket over them like a fort. Her own personal castle. As long as someone was there to mind her, no one really cared. She didn't try to access the tablets, only mimick the adults by drawing her own on large pieces of construction paper, then letting her imagination run loose.
And now they'll tell us all about it... She smiled and found a spot in the circle while Tong was still talking, mentioning the order, the purpose, and the method to those who had newly found this world today, instead of having abandoned it. The kata... she had been too afraid to try it when offered, instead just saying she'd try when she was older, when she was ready and strong. But that time passed by before she could claim it, and now in spite she just wanted to prove she was no longer affected by her fear.

Master Roscoe - “These are gauntlets. When you channel your unique mana signature, the gauntlet will react. Like so.”

"Fire..." She muttered softly, narrowing her eyes to watch the color vividly displayed on Tong's hauntlet.

"Light... girl... Water... man..." she whispered to herself, standing beside her other acolytes. The 'Collector' and the 'Quiet Girl' were close. And the 'Raven' and 'White Knight' as well. She almost absently slipped along the blank gauntlet, then waited the requisite amount of time, not even listening before the others began to perform the rite.

Master Roscoe - “Follow along, please. I will teach you the Kata to activate your gauntlet. Afterwards, we will introduce you to some Creatures we have here, and teach you to control them.”

Kate - "This is pretty cool."

The colors began to tell her things, something her mother in all her psychologist glory had tried to dissaude her from believing, that the kingdoms sometimes matched certain aspects of personality. That it was about as hogwash as zodiac typing or tarot cards. She smirked as her mind rambled on.

Calm and righteous... Water and Light for the 'Un-damsel'

She watched Richard falter a bit, then finally succeed. Her heart had cinched for a moment and she almost felt like he was going to be caught with someone else's gauntlet in his pocket.

Richard - "Wait, no..."

Darkness... but... I guess mother really was right, I can't just play the matching game here. But that skull...

Richard - "Hehe... It felt comforting. A little cold, but comforting... What is this though? "That doesn't look good..."

"S'normal..." Cyr added quietly, not wanting to interrupt the others. She kept her charming smile and nodded to him, trying to reassure him that it wasn't that unerving. Death is just a part of life afterall, and a necessary one. As he rejoined the circle after Kate, she felt her feet plant firmly in the ground, not letting her move forward. The resultant action rocked her back on her heels and she tried to play it off as amusement.

Edwin - "Okay, so, first this way... Then over here. Careful now."

By the book? You are definately a professional. And wise I suppose... Fire and Water make steam though... Ugh, stupid pop occult books, stop making me think stupid crap. She resisted the urge to clap as well as slap her own forehead.

The quiet one moved now, stepping into the circle to perform the rite, getting it right without the need for words, simply copying close enough to get it right a first time. Fire... And I can see that look. She smirked, amused herself. It was what had seemed the most 'badass' to her as a child.

Eli - "There."

He hadn't even waited, stepping in and pulling off his kata like a natural. It almost made her worry about his eagerness if he was able to move that much faster than the others. Light... You're making me have a hard time not thinking of you as the 'white knight' you know...

Eli - "So...this is my gauntlet."

While he continued she raised her own hand and performed the gestures, seemingly out of the spotlight and as quietly as possible. She didn't really want everyone to see her fail or succeed. Maybe she could just shrug and say it turned on by itself, that was a good excuse.

Eli - "Alright! What next? Do we control one of those monsters from before?"

She gracefully stepped, moving her hand the way not only Tong had instructed, but as she'd seen Roscoe instruct, and a long time ago, her own parents. She had pretended she could do this, and now was the time to finally see if it was real. The fabric lengthened on her arm, striped and baggy, lines of teal and orange with the central gem finally revealing itself beneath a bloom of dark, faux wood. A perfect peridot.

She stepped back from the little bit she'd moved ahead in the circle, not looking at who stood beside her as she held up her arm and thumbed over the fabric gently. It was then she realized she was probably being watched and she chuckled, holding it out to diffuse her own worry.

"Hey, it doesn't clash at all right? Good stuff!" Her lower lip caught under her teeth and she looked like a cat trying to hide the proverbial mouse.

Howell listened to the explanations, it was something unsurprising and pretty expected. Yet it didn't sit well with him that the protectors had choose the name of duelists. People dueled to defend their honor, not others but nonetheless he was now being given a gauntlet and taught the movements to perform for its 'activation kata'. It sounded silly, completely out of place, but the young man tried to memorize and repeat it.

Epic Fail...

The movement had been precise, perfect. Maybe a little too fast though as if he was ashamed to be seen doing such moves. Something silly giving how he had been spent whole days dressed like an elf minstrel or a knight in the woods, beating each other with rubber weapons in his LARPing sections. No, it wasn't shame, it was disappointed rejection. This Kaijudo thing had to be magic, not a silly martial art. He sighed, looking at the gauntlet and then performing the Kata once again, once more perfectly mimicking the Master's movements.

No reactions...

"Guess I have no mana..." He shrugged off, getting ready to turn on his back and leave the circle. "...last attempt, let's be done and over with this..." He said with a disappointed voice, looking at the book he had placed over one of the shelves. "...if you get to memory wipe, I came with a book. A book I hold dear..." The young man said before looking at the others. Every and each one of them had managed to succeed, good for them. They were prolly going to risk their lives soon, something he didn't felt so alright with doing as well. It started to move his hand casually, without even bothering to follow the exact movements the Master had thaught them. Sure he was going to fail again and be sent home his mind was pretty much empty...

Wind whistling between the leaves... Visions filled his consciousness, now with his mind deprived of all the prejudices, the gauntlet did the trick. He kept moving, feeling the mana flowing through him, coming from his feet that were absorbing it like roots, through his body and finally reaching for his fingers. The gauntlet started to change in shape, a jewel forming on the center of the handguard. The pack hunts, the hawk soars the skies searching for his prey, power comes from the wilderness... He kept moving unable to stop the flow of the mana in his body, performing the Kata movements with a less mechanic rythm. It was more like a dance now, energy filled his muscles, his expression altered into a feral grin as armor kept forming around the gauntlet, taking the sharp shape of small claws on the fingertips.

Then it came...

Darkness... The Caprimulgus sucks blood from the goats, the Nighthawk hunts, Black Panthers raid their preys herds... It was like falling into a dark pit, something that he didn't expected to be there, something that came out from all his distrust toward others, a dark side of his personality that couldn't help to show up. Even now when he had been saved by the Kaijudo Masters he hadn't been able to not suspect of them. The Raven spreads his wings, bringing ancient wisdom and misfortune... The gauntlet turned black, the color of night.

Predator of the night... Ferality of the cycle of Life and Death...

Howell performed the final movements, closing his hand at fist as the extened the closed gauntlet ahead of himself. The gemstone on the handguard revealing a flawless turquise, runes and arabesques starting to appear on a matching color all above the glove, a turquoise flower-themed rune seal encircling the stone. Spirals and bramble-like of the same color appearing on the whole armored glove as the young man finally completed his performance.

"This was intense..." He muttered looked at his new possession with a puzzled expression. Lots of conflicting emotions came from it, power, strenght but also darkness and fear. He wondered if he hadn't done something wrong, if he hadn't fumbled and channeled the traditional demon of Moorcockian lore. "Maybe this is the Kaijudo version of the Stormbringer?" Given the end of Elric of Melnibone', Howel didn't really felt he was going to like yes as the answer.

"Oh well..." The young man said placing the armored hand in the large pocket of his coat, not wanting to show it to the other acolytes.

Masters Tong, Roscoe and both Dempseys observed as the new recruits all successfully performed the basic kata- some with more ease than others. In each of them, Master Tong noted a distinct drive- some reason for them to be able to harness their mana and channel it, even without having learned more than five minutes of it.

It is as I suspected, He thought. Truly, a group to have survived against so many creatures without gauntlets or spells would be capable of such a feat. We truly are blessed by opportunity this day.

"Very good. Now, Master Roscoe- instruct our new students in the ways of summoning and mastering a creature. The Masters Dempsey and I must return to the chamber to discuss some...matters of responsibility with Master Mina."

Derrick could be heard whispering to his sister about how Mina lost the vial of Cyber Viruses as the trio left the room. Once they had vacated the space, Master Roscoe spoke.

"Very well. You, Eli was it? You asked about summoning. I shall show you the basics now. You each have been given a tablet, yes?"

The question was of course rhetorical- she had handed them the tablets herself.

"These tablets have been passed down for generations, and contain information on the many types of Creature that may be summoned. You will see both a description of the Creature in question, it's habits and capabilities as we understand them, as well as a series of glyphs,"

The glyphs in question were not unlike stick figures, in a series anywhere from 3 to 7 figures in a pattern, depending on your tablet. Master Roscoe presented a simple tablet of hardwood, with three such glyphs on it.

"These glyphs indicate the Kata stances needed to evoke the creature. They roughly translate to set forms in Kaijudo, but the rule of thumb I advise is to mimic the shape of the glyph with your body as closely as you can. But that is only one part of the summoning ritual- the other is to call out the true name of the creature you summon."

Master Roscoe moved to each of you, showing the tablet in her hands. It was labeled Saber Mantis. After each of you had a chance to view the tablet, she proceeded to perform the motions. Her movements were purposeful, slower than Master Tong's. As she performed them, she called out in a stately voice,

"Saber Mantis!"

The moment the finished the kata, a distinct 'ding' noise could be heard. In front of her, a small patch of fog appeared- but did not spread. Super-imposed over the fog was a green symbol- the symbol of a tree that appeared on all Nature tablets. Through this opening, a large praying mantis appeared. It landed before Master Roscoe, and rested there. Behind it, the portal closed.

"Once you summon your creature, you will be linked to it. Your mana will constantly flow to it, keeping it tethered to this world. So long as it is summoned, it will drain your mana- when you run out, or it is damaged too far, it will be banished back to the Creature Realm. If you wish to banish it before then, simply perform this maneuver," she paused, clasping her hands before her. With a wave of her right arm, the large bug seemed to glow a deep, verdant green before dissipating in puff of grass and flowers, which soon faded from sight.

"One last thing- NEVER touch a Creature. Ever. If for some reason you are touch a creature and it is banished, you will be banished along with it."

(OOC: Ok, summon your partners! If you have difficulty, you will find you have a bond with them- the sharing of mana. Nothing too unruly. Next post will be a timeskip to action!)

She felt the heft of it in her hand, the familiar stones she had seen time and time again but never utilized. Only took long glances at to try and imagine who was living inside. The one she had been given was already readable to her. Cyr knew what was waiting inside. It was one of the same creatures her father had. But she wondered what this one would be like, if it would somehow recognize her, or know some of the deeper memories she didn't wish to share.

Roscoe - "These glyphs indicate the Kata stances needed to evoke the creature. They roughly translate to set forms in Kaijudo, but the rule of thumb I advise is to mimic the shape of the glyph with your body as closely as you can. But that is only one part of the summoning ritual- the other is to call out the true name of the creature you summon."

She nodded along, already taking one step forward but not seriously investing in the motion before she raised the leg, her knee bent. She sighed, letting her body relax again, just getting used to the way it felt. She could sense something starting to form but it was so faint she let it pass as imagination. Her eyelids raised and she saw the tablet in the Nature Master's hands. For some reason it sent a small shiver down her spine though she didn't know what it was off the bat. But Roscoe was surprisingly graceful for her age, her motions planted to the earth, protean and strong.

Roscoe - "Saber Mantis!"

She watched in awe as a true summon happened again, not like the breach in the park. That had been an accident, but this was an art. Part of her felt wonder again at the way the colors suffused to herald the beast.

Roscoe - "Once you summon your creature, you will be linked to it. Your mana will constantly flow to it, keeping it tethered to this world. So long as it is summoned, it will drain your mana- when you run out, or it is damaged too far, it will be banished back to the Creature Realm. If you wish to banish it before then, simply perform this maneuver,"

She felt the back of her neck itch, her fingers traveling back behind her hair to assuage the uncomfortable sensation as it dawned on her that she had been starting to feel the tether forming during her performance. It would be something to get used to and as the Master continued to explain she tried to free her mind from any doubts and put on a showman's grin for an audience. There was strange comfort in putting on an act, of being entertainment.

Roscoe - "One last thing- NEVER touch a Creature. Ever. If for some reason you are touch a creature and it is banished, you will be banished along with it."

The first step was the one forward, followed by what appeared to be a raised knee in front while she balanced and then extended the leg in a fit of flexibility, gathering her ankle with her hand and holding it high, only to utter the words with a pleased grin while the drain became purely background noise. honestly it seemed fitting, she felt like a tree already...

"Essence Elf!" She spoke with authority, making sure to wink at anyone looking on while she kept the gymnast's pose.

The mist corridor formed and the character in vibrant virid light emblazoned ahead of where a creature materialized, it's tangled leaves and branched giving it a nearly humanoid appearance, except for the strange tendril wings. It's head hung low while the summoning fanfare dissipated, leaving only the lithe treant in it's wake.

Cyr blinked a few times as it stood there, unmoving, letting it's arms dangle lethargically at it's sides. She narrowed an eye and itched her temple, letting her leg fall back down to a more reasonable, and less flashy position.

"Essence Elf? You home in there?" She squinted and watched the creature raise it's head, strange equivalents of eyes glowing in the bark. It narrowed them back then returned to dangling it's branches, shambling over to where there was a genuine potted plant in the room and trying to do it's best to appear related.

Kimiko studied the strange tablet curiously, trying to memorise the movements depicted on it. Her creature appeared to be a tiny golden bird, quite the adorable creature, actually, although the bright red flames that formed a flickering crown atop its head hinted at power hidden beneath the surface. Small and cute, but with more to her than meets the eye... Kimiko's lips twitched into a small smile. Just like me.

She scanned the tablet quickly, reading over the attributes and habits of the creature. Her attention was diverted by the woman Cyr who was brave enough to attempt the summoning first. She marvelled at the gracefulness of the elder woman as she deftly performed the kata, creating a portal just like the one that Master Roscoe had created from thin air.

From the portal, Cyr called forth an “Essence Elf”, some kind of plantish-fairy thing. Inspired by her example, Kimiko stepped forwards next, the tablet images depicting the kata she was to perform etched firmly into her mind.

“Kenina the Igniter!” she called as she began the kata. Swiftly, Kimiko thrust her right arm out, focusing on making the action as smooth and powerful as she could. Then she spun around, finishing the move in a half-crouch. As she whirled around, she saw a small flickering of flames dancing in an arc around her body, forming a blazing trail which led to a fiery portal on which a flame seal was stamped. The golden bird depicted on the tablet swooped forth from the sigil, wispy flames following in her wake.

“...Awesome,” she breathed, watching the creature which she'd called forth soar around the room, and Kimiko's heart soared with it.

"Essence Elf!"

“Kenina the Igniter!”

Howell looked at the two girls going ahead and performing the Kata to summon their respective creatures. Alrighty I'm going to see the advantage of this Kata things... The young man said as he couldn't avoid to think both girls looked extremely cute while performing it. The Cellphone-alergic one, Cyr was her name as he recalled from the introductions, even winked. Probably not at him, maybe because it was a painful pose to kept for her? But she looked a playful fellow, opposed to the dignified little one. In the end they made appear creature that in Howell's mind somewhat reflected their summoners. Cyr got an exotic looking plant-like being, Kimiko a fiery small a cute bird instead. It made it curious about what creature was described in the Tablet the Master had handed to him.

Hornblade Dragon...

Focusing on the Dragon bit made him almost fail to notice the similarities between the Tablet and a Magic Card, yet the Tablet had been translated in english, making him wonder why they didn't used the cheaper and lighter paper for it. Nonetheless it provided enough information on the creature to make Howl wonder if him getting this Tablet hadn't been simply a case of distraction from the Masters like the earlier one about the jar with Mind Leeches. Maybe they wanted to give him a Drake or a Wyvern, something smaller? Giving how it had took three attempts for him to even turn on his gauntlet... Maybe he should have pointed this out to the Masters...

Yet...

DragonDragonDragonDragonDRAGON!

The word was screaming in his mind with feeling of anticipation and badassery coming from the creature. He could get a Dragon and giving that this looked way more real that one could imagine, it was something to totally look forward. He stepped to perform the first part of the Kata and suddenly stopped even before starting it. If he had learned something about the Gauntlet experience it was that he didn't needed to perform only the moves, but even enter the right mindset. And given this time Howl wasn't really allowed to fail it on the first attempt, maybe it was for the best that he started the Kata already on it. Silently he took a deep breath and started to perform...

It was a longer Kata than the one the other two had performed and yet it gave a feeling even more intense than the one he used for the Gauntlet to activate. Every movement was sinous, serpentine and yet carried strenght within as Mana flew through his body, making his hands move instinctively and mimicking the shape and posture of claws or wings during the various movements of the Kata. Howl couldn't help to think the final posture of the form, him standing with the summoning circle on his back, arm extended ahead, the hand with the armored gauntlet trying to grab something in a claw-like way, being extremely badass and it was with such a feeling that he called for his first summon.

"Hornblade Dragon."

His voice was loud and clear, but at the same time he wasn't shouting. There was some authority that he'd never imagined to have in it, maybe it was due to every feelings the flowing of Mana in his body had produced. Behind his back he could feel the coming of the creature through the circle even before hearing the noise of its coming. "I did it?" Howl whispered as he turned to look at the result of his attempt. It was big, scaly, winged, clawed and had the typical Dragon-shape. To be more accurate, it was VERY big, scaly, winged, clawed and had the typical Dragon-expression while looking at something more or less insignificant.

"A child? And a tainted one, not less?"

The Dragon voice seemed slightly disappointed as he looked to Howell with inquisitive eyes, especially focusing on his gauntlet. The newly born summoner returned the look with puzzled expression on his visage as he noticed both a faint cholorine smell coming from the dragon's mouth as he talked and the sharp blades that gave the creature its name. It didn't looked very friendly either.

"To be fair I'm considered a young adult in my culture..." Howl couldn't help to reply with a somewhat offended tune. "...and you know? Tainted makes me look somewhat lame..." He added in a whisper. Last thing he wanted was to be mocked by his own summon in front of not one but three girls. The young man sighed deeply.

"In MY culture, one isn't considered an adult until he finds a mate and contributes actively to the species prosperity." The Dragon snorted, another wave of chlorine scent being sent to Howell. "Kaijudo duelists must have come really to a low standard if they had left a child attempt to summon a Hornblade Dragon." The Draconic being sighed in disappointment and this time Howl started coughing, the dragon flapping his wings to disperse the gaseus cloud before stoppig to stare at him so that he couldn't be affected by his breath. "But you have performed the Kata and managed to summon me, you get some credits for this. And I guess that to honour the ancient oaths, I'm bound to your service..." There was some amusement in the eyes of the Dragon as he spoke. "...but be warned! I wont be a tool for you to use, I'll protect you engaging other creatures from my world, but any kind of business you have with your own people is yours, and yours alone, to be dealt with."

"Seems legit..." Howl said with a sigh. "...so do you have a name?"

"Yes, it-

"I know the drill, it's too complicate to speak for your human voice..." Howell prevented the Dragon from going further. "...what about Yevaud then?" He inquired as the name of the Dragon starring in the book he was reading came to his mind.

"..." The newly christened Yevaud took one of the deepest sighs any Hornblade had taken since the first members of the Kaijudo Order summoning one of them. Which was a rare event anyway. "Whatever makes you feel comfortable Tainted Child, or do you have a name I should use when addressing to you?"

"Howell..."

"Howl?" The Dragon said with the scary equivalent of a smile appearing on his face. "Fitting, your tainted mana stands out like a feral howl in the night."

"Not you too..."

"Oh, so there are others that calls you like that? Fine Howl it shall be..."

Looking at the Dragon and then at the two girls' summons he wondered if he shouldn't have gone for something smaller as well...

"I think yours are cuter than mine..." He said out of the blue to Cyr and Kimiko.

They had all accomplished phase one of their training, Richard believed. A few mishaps here and there, especially from him, but for the most part everyone seemed to have advanced forward in the direction the Masters wanted. Now, however, they were moving onto something bigger... Summoning monsters, as in similar to the ones that had almost apparently killed them in the park. "Do you think you're ready for that, Rich? I'm not quite sure, really... We're talking about summoning things that could kill us if we slip up in the slightest... Well, we've come this far already, right? We can't leave a job half-finished now... Besides, i'd like to keep my memory."

"These tablets have been passed down for generations, and contain information on the many types of Creature that may be summoned. You will see both a description of the Creature in question, it's habits and capabilities as we understand them, as well as a series of glyphs,"

Looking at the glyph given to him, he took note of the fact it seemed to match his gauntlet. "Darkness for darkness, huh? This might be good. Let's see..." he hummed quietly, brushing the hair obscuring his right eye as he began to read over the tablet while the others went first. "Grave Worm Hatchling... A Rot Worm species. Huh... They've got some pretty nasty effects, don't they? Then again, it's the Dark... Something tells me everything from this side of things looks evil or possess some wicked powers. Why does it fit me though? ... Hrm, wonder if it's because of the kleptomania..."

He peeled his eyes from the tablet for now, just moments after Cyr had finished summoning her monster, something called an Essence Elf. He couldn't help but chuckle at the finishing display between the two, as the so-called Essence Elf tried to blend in with another plant. Next up was the girl who had assisted him in the park, Kimiko, who proved to be as skilled as Cyr was in the summoning of her creature. A rather adorable firebird named Kenina the Igniter. His eyes folowed the bird as it moved about, before humming.

"So many different creatures... And their summoners look so composed." his thoughts were active once more, before the next person went to summon their monster. The man who had refused to give his name, or at least didn't offer it since it wasn't requested. Not that it seemed to matter, since only a short moment after summoning his creature, he had given up his name to the beast... A dragon, it seemed. "Heh, I wondered when we'd be seeing one of those. It's almost like a game, except the game can kill you." he grinned behind shaggy hair, before he looked down to his tablet again. The glyphs above the monsters name needed to be mimicked by the summoners body, from the look of things. Speed didn't seem to be an issue either, given how he saw Master Roscoe summon her creature.

Eyeing the various glyphs and the order in his mind, he began to mimic them to the best of his ability. It was almost like a sort-of dance, he felt. He could feel the mana welling within him, focusing on the image of the creature depicted on the tablet, before he called out for it.

"Grave Worm Hatchling!"

Before him, the fog had begun to generate, the darkness insignia looming over it. It still looked as ominous and worrisome as ever, but if it was a natural thing, then he wouldn't let it bother him any, In time, a purple blow formed within the mist before it began to vanish... Leaving behind the form of a rather large worm-like creature propped up on numerous small hands. If he had to guess, it looked to be about the size of two human graves, length-wise. Considering how pudgey it looked, he could only imagine how much he'd eaten.

Slowly, the creature looked about gurgling lightly as it realized it was in a bit more of a lit area, closing its eyes and beginning to crawl behind Richard to better shield him. "Aww... Aren't you an adorable little big guy?" Richard couldn't help but feel himself smile proudly. It may not have looked as majestic as the Essence Elf, Kenina, or the Hornblade Dragon, but he felt the creature was endearing to him enough. He turned and crouched down, looking at it eye-level, as he brushed aside some of his hair. "You look like a big eater... I think i'll call you Nibbles." he smiled.

Looking at it, he couldn't help but feel some sort-of familiarity with the creature, but he left it at simply being nothing but the fact they shared the same alignment. Standing upright, he turned and went back to covering the creature with his form, careful to take heed of the masters warning to not touch the creature. "Looks like he isn't very fond of the light. He'll grow in due time, I think... Probably just spent too long in the dark." he hummed, before returning to looking his tablet over for additional information.

Kate watched as three of the others successfully summoned creatures. The two other girls had summoned some plant creature and a flaming bird, while the first guy to step forward had summoned a dragon. Kate was more shocked by the dragon than the other two, but then again after being chased by a monster scorpion a dragon should of seemed normal.

Kate studied her tablet, the motions were different from the ones the others had performed, So she couldn't just copy them like she was able to with the gauntlet. Taking a deep breath she attempted the kata shown on the tablet "Aqua Strider!" she called out to no avail.

She wasn't the only one who had trouble at first, perhaps she was just to nervous. Taking another glance at the tablet she noticed she had gotten a couple of the motions wrong. With a second attempt at the motions she once more called out "Aqua Strider" This time however a patch of fog had appeared, in the center flashed a blue wave and out from it stepped a blue figure.

The figure was taller than Kate, not by much though, and made her think of the creature Master Dempsey had used to combat the scorpions. His body appeared to be made of liquid- or at least some form of transparent blue material, However unlike the one they had seen earlier in the day, this one didn't have glowing lines throughout it, no instead Aqua Strider various pieces of golden armor covering his body. Rather basic looking armor adorned the lower legs, waist, and his forearms. The rest of the body had minimal armor, primarily protecting his shouldes and collar bone area- well if the creature had a collarbone. A shield was mounted on its left arm, a large red gem resting at its center. The Armor was completed with what looked to be decorative ribbons running from the back.

"Where am I? How did I get here?" Aqua Strider asked clearly confused by the situation at hand.

"Well I'm not exactly sure as to HOW, but I think i summoned you. As to the where I'm not exactly sure what this place is called."

"What kind of creature are you, from which civilization?"

"Uh I'm not a creature, or from any civilization. I'm a human."

"A Human? You mean those terrible beings of old, who forced us to do fight to the death for their entertainment?" He looked at Kate with amusement and confusion, he had never heard anything good of humans and yet this creature before him didn't look dangerous at all.

"You can forget whatever your planning I refuse to do combat with that Dragon, or the tree kin. Not to mention that Fire bird over there would stand no chance against one such as my self. However I will be more than glad to get rid of that rot worm." Aqua Strider said as he acknowledged the other creatures in the room.

"Uh, I wasn't going to make you fight, and wait... " Kate was at little confused the creature said he would not fight- and yet was willing to get rid of the worm thing. Before she could ask why the creature launched itself at the grave worm hatchling and Kate was lucky that she remembered the kata to banish a creature. Aqua Strider vanished in a flash of light and splash of water.

"I wonder what that Aqua thing had against the worm."

Next up was the girl named Kate, who he wasn't sure what her tablet or glove represented... Though considering the color blue seemed to be featured, he could only assume water was involved in it somehow. "Hm... She was the girl that other guy had picked up to run away with. Wonder if there's anything going on there..." he grinned to himself, looking from her to Eli, before he tilted his head. "Then again, we were all just running from scorpions, so probably not." he shrugged after a bit. In time, the girl went through the kata required for the creature, before calling out its name.

"Aqua Strider"

Once the creature emerged, it immediately begun a conversation with the girl, much like the Hornblade Dragon did with its summoner. However, as it spoke, he could hear Nibbles begin to scratch at the ground and gurgle out a growl, leading him to turn slightly and look down at his partner. The Grave Worm Hatchling crawled out slightly and began to growl at the Aqua Strider, sending something from it that its human could not. "What's got you bothered, Nibbles?"

"You can forget whatever your planning I refuse to do combat with that Dragon, or the tree kin. Not to mention that Fire bird over there would stand no chance against one such as my self. However I will be more than glad to get rid of that rot worm."

"... Huh?" Richard suddenly asked, looking away from Nibbles and back to the Aqua Strider with confusion. "Wait, what do you have against Nibbles?" he asked, but recieved no answer as the Aqua Strider began to close in without warning. Given that the human hadn't stepped out from infront of the Grave Worm Hatchling, he was right at ground zero for a battle, and unfortunately for him, rationality was flying out the window. "Augh, crap! Move it, Nibbles!" Richard winced, turning and trying to push on the Grave Worm Hatchling to begin moving him. Though the worm budged slightly, it was ready to attack back as it inhaled, before Kate had quickly desummoned the Aqua Strider.

"I wonder what that Aqua thing had against the worm."

"I don't know, your guess is as good as mine... I don't think Nibbles here can talk either, so that isn't going to help much." he sighed, hanging his head for a moment before looking over at the Grave Worm Hatchling, who now seemed to be relaxing that the creature who just tried to attack it had been banished. "Still alot of things we don't know about these guys..."

In turn the younger girl summoned up a small phoenix. She smiled softly, still looking over to her Essence Elf with concern. Was it supposed to be trying to be avoidant of her and everyone else in the room. With a sigh she started trying to coax it closer, unable to leave the circle.

Hornblade Dragon... So you found yourself an winner there Mr. Edgey... I'm surprised you managed that. Because he is such a piece of work... But then again, look at the freak I got. You're not a damned houseplant Veit! She caught her thoughts, finding her ascription of her pets name actually apt in this case. The elf seemed content to wave gently with a soft breeze carried through the tunnels of the underground structure. Scented like water and earth... She slipped her hands in her pockets, her scarf hanging over the top most would consider beach or underwear.

The continued banter between the proud dragon and the curious (to the point of even seeming irritating to the dragon) Howell left her wondering if the more skeptical of their number would be able to tolerate for long the blow-hard currently making his presence known in voice. She played with the little tassels at the end of her scarf, still giving little glances over at the elf who didn't seem to be looking at anything in particular.

"comon, I've got... I... hrm..." It was a stretch if anything. She had picked it up in the van on the way there, something with protein since she hadn't eaten much that day between the book signing and the imperiled adventure in veil tripping. She waggled it behind her, a nice sized Zagnut bar. Everyone likes Zagnut bars, right?

The elf started to shamble away from it's new potted friend, almost slithering on the tendrils it drug along the floor.

"I think yours are cuter than mine..."

"He might be... for whatever he is." She skewed her lips, raising a brow as she continued to waggle the candybar.

The elf turned to the voice with surprising recognition, twisted in an awkward position like an old man hunching over, then set up it's legs like roots on the floor, a strange grunting sound issued from who knew where on it's body. It took the shiny piece of plastic from it's summoner and proceeded to examine it, tugging at the metallic sheath surrounding dozens of tasty peanuts.

Oh god... I just realized I'm offering it nuts... that's like... She blinked a moment, then looked over to the little phoenix Kimiko had summoned. Like offering Kenina a plate of scrambled eggs...

She was a watcher, a gatherer of information even when in the spotlight. But she could see the awe in Richard's eyes as he took in all the other summons and could only mutter under her breath. "Just remember... not to touch it."

After the dragon had been tamed in debate by Howell, she expected to find some sort of hoarding little monster from Richard. At the utterance of Graveworm Hatchling she raised a brow. It was probably the most lowly and necessary of creatures. After all, how could something like her elf grow without proper soil, and what she remembered was blood and energy from others. I think I'll think about soil for a while instead... nice, not bleeding soil.

The little critter down on the ground seemed strangely cute. But again, she had been raised around such things. And she had seen her mother use such a creature in as mundane a task as tilling a compost heap. There was never a way she could see anything like it as harmless and she shook her head as he came up with the name Nibbles. It was by far more creative than worm one, worm two, and worm three.

"Looks like he isn't very fond of the light. He'll grow in due time, I think... Probably just spent too long in the dark."

"You'd be surprised..." She nodded toward Yevaud. "You think he started off that big?" Her smile was one of amusement. Again the irony of how little she knew for fact, only the memories and experiences she had with these creatures. But she had never truly learned what they were.

As Veit continued to struggle with his candybar, resorting partway through to slamming it on the ground it was the 'undamsel's' turn to bring forth a creature from the veil. It took her a moment to get her bearings and Cyr peered toward the fog, wanting to see just what would come forth. The armored strider looked fit for war and she couldn't help but look back at her own creature, and some of the others wondering how they could ever manage to properly fight anything of that nature off, let alone a loose scorpion.

She watched the ensuing exchange, feeling perhaps a little nervous along with Kate as her strider decided to choose a battle on it's own and rid the room of the... of Nibbles... she remembered. Okay, I have a real doubt that all of my courses in Public Relations are going to come in handy here. Since... I didn't take any in extra-kingdom affairs.

Before she could raise her hand to try and diffuse the situation, Kate had banished the creature with the kata she had performed, again making the situation calm again. Or as much as it could be.

"I wonder what that Aqua thing had against the worm."

"I don't know, your guess is as good as mine... I don't think Nibbles here can talk either, so that isn't going to help much. Still alot of things we don't know about these guys..."

"It's... I think I remember a little. Just like human nations go to war, you can see it beyond the veil too." Cyr added with a serious tone, only to have the moment ruined as her Essence Elf's struggling became pronounced enough that the foil wrapped treat in it's tendril hands ended up flung with some force toward Nibble's head only to bean him.

Oh goddamnit... She grinned awkwardly, rubbing her palm on her forehead.
