[16:15 - Inside Styx Base]

Posted Image

It was dark out by the time it came, the distress call having been blinking on the receiver in the guardhouse for at least ten minutes while it's denizens played poker in abject boredom. Commander Wolff sighed as he walked in, seeing his crew regard him with salutes, though he was sure some of them viewed him with about as much interest as a stack of yard tools at the hardware store, it didn't matter. The lupine Reploid went to check the call and discovered what had been missed. Normally responsible and prompt he grunted and left without saying a word, making his displeasure known.

It was ten minutes later the base's contingent had been gathered together by none other than the chief medical officer and self appointed 'inventionist' Gene Replete. There was no sign of Wolff as she gave their new assignment in a giddy tone. She was excited which was usually a bad sign for those involved as it almost always meant that without the strict guidance of Wolff, it was guinea pig time for the new recruits, and a chance to gather combat data.

"We've received a call from Eichel Engineering and it appears they're in dire straights. They need assistance now... or twenty minutes ago technically. I think perhaps whoever turned down the sound for the comm should not try this in the future!" She spoke loudly while holding up her tablet, a wide smile on her face. It was exciting despite the nature of the situation. It wasn't often they had an actual opportunity for real combat and she'd been itching to try out the recorders she'd given all of the new recruits, along with a personal pet project she'd given to one of the most junior enlistees.

"Anyways, we should probably go now... we are wasting time just standing here while they could very well be in grave danger so... off you go." She made a shooing motion toward the garage, coaxing everyone to get in the larger of the two transport vehicles, and also the only one up and running after it had cannibalized the other for parts. "Just cram in there, anyone else is welcome to come but..." She picked up her tablet again as she leaned against the door to the vehicle, holding it to read.

"Hailfire, Arclight, Chimera... and Azhrarn. You guys can't get out of this, sorry. But you get the fun ride today! I hope we get ambushed..." She stared wide eyed for a moment before chuckling, making it seem like a joke as she swung up into the driver's seat. But one could never tell with her.

"Anyone else that cares to join us, get in! It'll be a bumpy ride..."She sighed contently, gripping the wheel in anticipation. "Because I forgot to get the shocks done..."

And who knows the last time we actually did -anything- around here...

[16:35 - Inside Styx Transport Vehicle No.1]

Posted Image

The road was uneven, bumps sending up it's passengers every few meters unless they were strapped down and secure, which for any of the new recruits was entirely up to their discretion. Rebellious, eccentric, strange, or foolish dreamers, Styx had ended up with those at the end of the line, but it was damned well going to make due, and in style! Everyone who was relatively new was grabbed for this. A test run to see if basic training had paid off...

There were seats lined on either side and room for the more bulky of their number, along with some reserves of energy, and stock weaponry that they'd used in training, but with the seriousness of this task they'd all been permitted the full use of their normal weaponry.

While Gene drove along the road toward the Engineering Laboratory, singing something whimsical to herself, a smaller female reploid say with her hands placed demurely in her lap as she looked down at her feet. A long scarf down her back and her down-turned visor would have made her look 'cool' if not for the fact her posture was anything but confident. She seemed to withdraw whenever anyone looked at her, though she had an odd smile on her face.

"Alright, but you three better get out too. If something is in here, who the hell knows is out there. I'd hate to find out Gear was eaten by one of these..."

Hailfire snorted in amusement. “He’d probably just give them indigestion.” With Einhorn successfully extracted from the vines she turned her attention towards carving a path out of the store. With her tail constantly slashing she kept her distance from the vines; a few she could easily overpower with brute force, but this was not just a few. And worse, they seemed to be catching on to her pruning tactics. They kept snagging her tail more and more in ways she couldn’t easily cut them.

At the moment, she was really missing the firepower her draconic duo brought, but it wasn’t fair to them to keep them from their siblings all the time. That, and attacks on the town itself are rare enough to not need them around constantly. Hailfire snarled and sunk her nails into the offending tendril and tore it away. “Enough!” She took a step back, balanced on the ball of a foot, and quickly turned. Her tail whipped around, hopefully slicing enough of the vines to clear the way.

~~~~~~~~~~
"I think I've seen her reading on occasion..."
Zweiton thought for a moment. “For some reason, I can see her with something like a history book.” he said, not knowing what Fisher was actually referring to. Maybe it was better that way.
'Petalhoof attack in the center of town, hunters please respond. This is an emergency, hunters, please respond!’
It didn’t take any more urging than that for Zweiton to speed the vehicle up, great choking clouds of desert dust rising behind the vehicle as he drove towards town. He was still green and apprehensive about charging into danger, but he was a Hunter now and he had a duty to respond when called for.
“So what’s this Petalhoof look like? From the name I’m guessing a horse Mutos, or satyr… I haven’t been able to dig too far into the Maverick databanks yet.” His attention was too engrossed on learning about the impressive weaponry the armory held, and so far Zweiton hadn’t thought about checking out the other, possibly lifesaving, information the base had about those that were considered dangers to society.
Soon they were in town and he slowed down slightly; the streets held very few souls and the ones that were still outside looked armed and nervous. Closer to the middle of town he saw Gear being carried off by some dangerous looking reploid and clearly not having the time of his life. Zweiton, in the heat of the moment, once again slammed on the accelerator.
The wiser civilians dove out of the way and yanked the slower ones aside once they saw the behemoth roaring down the street; you didn’t have to stay long in Last Chance to know the residents of the local Hunter branch drove like madmen. The roar of the engine and the horn blaring loudly to get anyone out of the way would herald a scene that had played out countless times over the history of the automobile; the outcome of a vehicle versus a deer.
Last Chance - Dressed to Kill
"Alright, but you three better get out too. If something is in here, who the hell knows is out there. I'd hate to find out Gear was eaten by one of these..."
“He’d probably just give them indigestion.”
"I'd probably assume the other way around, give Nid's with him..."
Azhrarn voice tried to sound calm and concentrated, kinda the opposite compared to his real agitated state for having his mother being involved in the middle of this dangerous situation. He really, really, wanted to sigh. To protect his parents from perils like this was the mainly reason he took upon their suggestion on joining the Hunters, sure he wanted to keep all of the people he learned to known and love at Last Chance as well, but his parents still held that special place in his mechanical heart. That mechanical heart, part of a mechanical body that didn't needed him to breath and thus that didn't allowed him to sigh.
But the problem at hand were now the Alraunoids...
It was, sorta obviously, the first time that Azhrarn had to see in person Petalhoof's machines. Pictures or footage videos had been shown at the Hunters' Base, but their presence in physical form meant that the Mutos was to be somewhere around. There were some in the front but, with high chances, there were going to be some on the back as well. It somewhat seemed to point out that the Mutos had either planned to assault the Shop or that she was aware of Azhrarn and other Hunters' presence.
And if the back door was blocked as well, to Arawn it meants that his mother was in danger too...
"H-hey Azzie, think you can get the front with Hailfire while I go help Regen and Mira?"
"Please, keep them safe..."
Azhrarn said turning to Einhorn, the expression on his visage showing how much he cared and was concerned for his mother well-being. "...and if Petalhoof is near the back, call for us, don't engage her alone..." He added, before turning to the Alraunoids and trying to quickly evaluate the situation. "Take care Ein, we'll meet outside..." He almost whispered, yet loud enough for her to listen, as he stepped toward the enemies to join Hailfire in the fight.
"Mistral."
The DNA-Enhancement of the connected twin swords was impressive just as the enhanced armor was, the resulting greatsword had now a more draconic-like appearance on its shape, the blade covered in runes glowing due to a blue energy that gave it a majestic appearance. It was also lighter to wear, maybe because the living armor was now enhancing Azhrarn's strenght as well, and easier to control thanks to the training and Argent's help. "Sorry for the wait Miss Hailfire, coming to help..." The younger reploid said as he performed a large swing with the energy charged greatsword, trying to sweep away Tendrils and Alraunoids alike. "Let's go find the one at the root of all this..."
He didn't realized how horrible the, completely unintentional, pun sounded...
With Einhorn, Mira and Regen safely out the back of the shop, Azhrarn and Hailfire were free to survey the extend of damage to the town, and the number of invaders...
"Alright, gotta get you two to safety..." Einhorn sighed, holding her buster close to her chest as she quickly side-stepped a floral bomb from one of the Alraunoids. She grit her teeth, almost pushing Mira over in the process but the older human was careful to catch her. She smiled softly and Einhorn could only hang her head as Regen pulled out a pistol and shot one of the smaller, vine-like invaders, dropping it from her shop's awning.
"H-hey, I'm supposed to be guarding you guys..." Einhorn whined softly, then startled as Mira shoved her out of the way and quickly stabbed at another small creeper-bot as it rolled closer to them.
"We can handle ourselves, go help out Azzie and Hailfire, alright?" Mira huffed and was quickly tugged by Regen toward the other side of the street to help get a few of the clingy mechanoloids off a neighbor's shop.
"Alright... but be safe you two..." they nodded and she moved around toward the front of the shop only to see what was a larger Alraunoid than she'd ever seen before. It had a woman's body but it was larger, seated in a spread bloom of metal sheets. It's eyes were pure green light. It had managed to dig roots throughout the streets of the town, tearing up the ground. It zeroed in on the door opening as well as Einhorn arriving on the scene only to throw a constrictor vine around her, latching on from a distance to pull her and dangle her curiously by one foot.
"What the...." Einhorn didn't have much time to react before blindly shooting her buster in the direction of her captor until it relented, which it didn't. Normal buster fire was entirely ineffective...
"Really, Petalhoof, was what you took worth- Ow! ... Worth all this?"
"If in the wrong hands it could be made into a weapon against organics... And despite my hatred of your cruel human masters, it could also be used to destroy my forest," she looked back at him as she charged through a useless barricade. It clattered and was sent flying toward one side of the street, narrowly avoiding the onlookers. Her face scrunched in annoyance as she saw the Hunter symbol emblazoned on a vehicle headed their way.
"It was left behind when the space station crashed, foolishly at the hands of those with little concern for nature," and it was undeniable. The deserts had been caused in part by so much refuse and dust in the air. But it also didn't advocate her extreme measures against Last Chance's citizens. Was there even someone she'd listen to?
Tailing behind them were Styx's late arrivals, gaining on them with alarming speed. Red had already pulled himself partially out the passenger window, locking his long talons into the canopy for support as he aimed one of his extendible limbs toward the two running away. "That's it... just need to get a bit closer and I can restrain the target..."
"Eh... though I may get Gear in the process. Still, easy fix right?" Red was being honest about it, but if he could apprehend and damage Petalhoof it would be better for them than just shooting her down. He rolled back his shoulder and felt the motors in his forearm start to bring together the plate rings that overlapped his strange but handy limb. It shortened the arm until it was ready to be shot forward, his eyes hard set on his objective.
"Just a little closer..." he muttered and found his vision starting to fail him. Petalhoof was kicking up a dust cloud as she made her escape!
Dressed to Kill - Last Chance
"What the...."
Azhrarn looked in surprise at both the surfacing of the larger Alraunoid and how the rose-like being grabbed Einhorn. It seemed that his friend was fated, after all this was the second case in a very short amount of time, to be caught with tendrils tentacles and the like. And while the smaller Alraunoids looked somewhat cute to him, cute enough for the Knight Reploid to hit them with the flat of his sword to prevent heavier damage, this new arrival felt more an ominous and malicious being rather than the pestering children the smaller were.
Einhorn being grabbed meant also something else, something that worried him a little, it meant that his mother and Regen were on their own. And while he knew that his mother was not really the most harmless being in the world, as she loved to demonstrate sometimes, he was also worried for her taking the first line. Granted he knew very well what kind of powerful output his mother could produce but, at the same time, he wanted her to stay very far from harm's way.
The sight of hanged Ein's though was enough to remind Azzie of his priorities at the moment...
"Let's go Argent..."
The knight reploid dashed forward his friend's captor. The face mask closed on his helmet covering his mouth and nose leaving only the eyes, now glowing of a spectral blue light, visible. "Get ready Ein! He called right before boosting his speed to an ever higher level, disappearing from sight and reappearing mid-air, next to the tendril holding his friend. Mistral's blade, covered in the same eerie blue light that came from Azhrarn's eyes, fell upon the vine-like tentacle in a powerful blow meant to cut it.
THE ROAD OUT | LAST CHANCE
"If in the wrong hands it could be made into a weapon against organics... And despite my hatred of your cruel human masters, it could also be used to destroy my forest,"
"I'd almost say you don't sound like a maverick, but considering your single-minded focus on your forest, i'm tempted to think otherwise." Gear mumbled, still being shaken and pelted with combinations of dirt and stun-focused buster fire from stray wannabe heroes or the occasional Styx Maverick Hunter. However, the further she made it to the exit, the more likely they would be to use less non-lethal measures to take her down. Which meant his own life was in danger.
"It was left behind when the space station crashed, foolishly at the hands of those with little concern for nature,"
"A relic from that far back? So why are you keeping it? If it's that dangerous, shouldn't it be studied to determine whether it's fit to be left alone or best left locked up or even destroyed? If you keep holding onto that, you'll always be a target, if not by Treasure Hunters, then the Maverick Hunters for raising hell here." he sighed.
"This one been on own for long time. Evade capture, avoid confrontation, seem like try to not make waves. Today special occasion. However... Something else weird." Nid's voice chimed in, the lights flashing once more. "Something else causing problems, don't know what is." he added. Apparently the little worm had connected with her enough to look into past data files, though some were still heavily encrypted. These were just a little more recent.
"What do you mean, something e-" he started to ask, before a loud buster shot fired out infront of them, trying to get the attention of the runaway centaurbot.
"Petalhoof!" the voice shouted, one that would sound familiar to her.
----
TOWN LIMIT | LAST CHANCE
On the opposite end of the rifle that fired the shot, a somewhat haggard looking human could be seen, slightly out of breath and somewhat beaten up. The rifle in question was unusual in design. An advanced version of an old mass-production energy rifle later removed from production due to the desire to keep humans from the battlefield, and the introduction of arm-located Busters and small sidearms for reploid use. However, not all humans were comfortable sitting in safety while others did their dirty work, and this was one such person. The rifle in question was still in its prototype stages, classified as a 'Buster Rifle'. Power approaching a standard arm Buster weapon, designed for human and reploid use, it was still being revised and worked on.
Looking away from the scope, the male rose up into a kneel, trying to hurry forward to wave down the rushing centaurbot, already aware she had caused too much trouble here. "F-finally found you... I was afraid you'd do something like this... E-eh? Gear? What're you doing here?" he asked, pointing at the reploid under Petalhoof's arm.
"What? You're... Oi, Elijah, the hell're you doing out here? Aren't you fleshies supposed to be sitting safely at home or something? Get rid of that toy before you shoot your foot off or something." Gear remarked partly in annoyance, though he was well aware of the small male and his desire to want to fight. While somewhat frail, he was great with technology, and was responsible for the experimental buster rifle design in the first place, as well as later modifications to it. "In all seriousness though, why the hell do you know this maverick?"
"She not maverick. Me checked." Nid helpfully interjected, causing Gear to raise his hand and slap it against Petalhoof's 'chest', more aiming to hit and silence Nid.
"Wasn't talking to the peanut gallery!"
"What's... Going on? Third voice? ... Wait a minute, don't tell me you stole Doctor Gene's research too, Petalhoof... C'mon, I can only keep you out of so much trouble, but when you go that far-" he started to speak, before Gear waved his hand.
"Ah, actually, that bright idea was mine. I thought *SOMEONE* would be able to keep her from moving, but that kinda backfired on me, and now she looks like a dragontaurbot or something." he added with annoyance, folding his arms.
"Ah, that was doomed to fail from the start. If that's what I think it is, he won't have been around long enough. Even with revisions, Petalhoof has been around a while longer, so she'd be able to overpower most simple forms of control. Not sure why that isn't the case for you though..." Elijah remarked, tilting his head to the side. Though he didn't want to say, nor did Gear want to hear it, Nid already had the answer.
"It because he-"
"YES! I KNOW ALREADY, YOU SAY I"M A PUSHOVER! GET BENT!" Gear scowled, wishing he could find a scrapheap to go retire in right now, while Elijah simply chuckled, before he addressed Petalhoof.
"Worry not, i'm somewhat knowledgeable about that particular armor, even though Doctor Gene is the primary designer of it. I helped with some of the lesser details, but I know it won't stay fused to you, since it's likely already bound to him. I remember Gene saying she was looking for a guinea pig at the time it was still being worked on." he hummed, causing Gear's facial expression to flicker with further annoyance. "Nevertheless... We've got bigger problems to worry about. For starters, I know you took that thing... I also know since it came from your place, it has no right being in the hands of anyone else, so i'll try to talk with the Styx Hunters, but right now we've got-"
A sudden blast came from behind him, all but sending him flying before he hit the ground near them, groaning. Boy, did he wish he had a reploid body now. "B-bigger problems to worry about..."
And bigger was right. In the distance, something far larger than either of them, seemed to be approaching. While difficult to make out in the distance, its frame looked almost like a Ride Armor, albeit one cannibalized and more monstrous-looking, specifically a Raiden type. However, various cables were dangling from its form, and it seemed to have several parts that weren't on the original model... Namely the large launcher it had just used to attack with. Even from a distance, however, a low, menacing growl could be heard.
"Whatever that thing is... THAT'S what's been causing problems for the longest outside... Was getting tired of someone else being blamed for it." he mumbled, trying to sit up.
"Sorry for the wait Miss Hailfire, coming to help..."
Hailfire stepped back with a flourish and waved Azhrarn in to do his thing, giving him as much room as he needed to take a swing at the nasty tendrils. Hailfire had her fill of the fun for now and was willing to step back for a moment, her tail and unarmored arms had started collecting a few dents and scratches from her own assault.
"Let's go find the one at the root of all this..."
Hailfire snorted in response to the fitting pun while following him outside. She shook her head in amusement, though said nothing about it. “Agreed.”
Outside, the streets were torn up with roots that looked like they would be more at home in a dense jungle than the dust and wind-blown streets of the town. The civilians were wise enough to leave the living vines well enough alone, giving them a wide berth. And right in the middle of the street stood the cause of the mess, looking like an easy target out in the open like that.
Of course, fate had other plans. “Einhorn!” The words were barely out of her mouth as Azhrarn was immediately on it, with Hailfire taking flight not far behind. As he decided to take out the tendril holding Einhorn, Hailfire directly dove for the Alraunoid with her claws at the ready, aiming to take out the cause of all the problems at the source.
~~~~~~~~~~

The military vehicle was clearly no sportscar as it takes a lot of distance for the behemoth to get up to speed, but Zweiton and Red Fisher were quickly gaining on Petalhoof’s mad dash through the streets. Finally, it seemed as though they would finally be close enough and able to rescue Gear from his predicament when the centaurbot suddenly stopped and began talking to a human. And at this point, the vehicle likely has enough momentum to run over all three.

“Shit!” Like all large vehicles, it took a considerable distance for it to reach a full stop. Zweiton turned hard left, swerving around the trio. Red Fisher might have had a small window to grab Gear as they passed closely to them. The turn wasn’t hard enough to cause it to tip but it was certainly a jolt, the brakes squealing as it came to a halt not far beyond where Elijah was standing. Zweiton put it in park and sunk down into his chair, sighing loudly.

“That could have ended very badly for everyo—“ Zweiton was interrupted by the force of an explosion, both of them being knocked around the cabin by the blast. He pulled himself up to cautiously peer over the dash, trying to find the source of the attack. “—oly crap was that Petalhoof?”

Then Zweiton saw the riderless Ride Armor charging right for them and felt a bit of dread. “That’s trouble, isn’t it.”

"Sorry for the wait Miss Hailfire, coming to help..."

The Alraunoid was clearly out of it's wits, flailing what remained of a lobbed off tendril and gazing at it with manic glee. Even if the runaway Petalhoof had been responsible for bringing it into the town she clearly had no control once it was left to root itself into the middle of main street.

"Let's go find the one at the root of all this..."

“Agreed.”

“Einhorn!”

Einhorn had tumbled to the ground, quickly scampering behind where her partners stood ready. She had proven her use as an odd luck charm again. Yeah... If I end up making a fool of myself before the fight maybe it buys us some good karma or something. But seriously... One of these days I'm going to get a shot in and it's going to count! She frowned at the monstrous floral reploid as she nodded gratefully to Azhrarn. "T-thanks Azzie." The Alraunoid was quick to regenerate another limb from the writhing stump.

Still in the process of recovery, it was unable to avoid Hailfire's dive, the shear force pushing over the massive florabot and starting to tear it's roots from the street beneath.

"Azzie!" It was a different voice this time as Mira and Regen shouted from behind them, taking on the smaller number with ease, even if it was a constant effort.

"Look out!"

Einhorn noticed the Alraunoid mother digging two long tendrils into the ground beneath her, the street erupting in snaking patterns toward where Azhrarn and Einhorn now stood, seeking for them from beneath... The horned reploid did her best to shoot at them but with the cover of rock it was impossible to stop them from that alone.

She watched, vaguely annoyed as the man tucked under her arm like some sort of doll began to argue with the newcomer. It was as if she was being entirely ignored and in a way she was as the two males continued to debate the finer points of Gear's restraint 'plan' for her.

"Ah, that was doomed to fail from the start. If that's what I think it is, he won't have been around long enough. Even with revisions, Petalhoof has been around a while longer, so she'd be able to overpower most simple forms of control. Not sure why that isn't the case for you though..."

As if to make her point she adjusted her grip on Gear, making him seem about as innocuous as a football.

"It because he-"

"YES! I KNOW ALREADY, YOU SAY I"M A PUSHOVER! GET BENT!"

She looked away, not wanting to be wrong, and also enjoying the fact someone else was pestering her current source of annoyance.

"Worry not, i'm somewhat knowledgeable about that particular armor, even though Doctor Gene is the primary designer of it. I helped with some of the lesser details, but I know it won't stay fused to you, since it's likely already bound to him. I remember Gene saying she was looking for a guinea pig at the time it was still being worked on."

"Good... He is not a very good hostage. Or company..." She looked back at the small, seemingly weak human with a degree of respect, and ambivalence, as if she were annoyed and ashamed at being caught.

"Nevertheless... We've got bigger problems to worry about. For starters, I know you took that thing... I also know since it came from your place, it has no right being in the hands of anyone else, so i'll try to talk with the Styx Hunters, but right now we've got-"

The moment the shock-wave threw Elijah forward, Gear was dropped like bad news and left to fend for himself, the centaurbot dashing ahead to catch the human boy before he tumbled too far. Her natural instincts for self preservation were still trumped by the need to preserve life, and Gear had yet to prove himself to her as a lifeform...

"B-bigger problems to worry about..."

???

And bigger was right. In the distance, something far larger than either of them, seemed to be approaching. While difficult to make out in the distance, its frame looked almost like a Ride Armor, albeit one cannibalized and more monstrous-looking, specifically a Raiden type. However, various cables were dangling from its form, and it seemed to have several parts that weren't on the original model... Namely the large launcher it had just used to attack with. Even from a distance, however, a low, menacing growl could be heard.

"Whatever that thing is... THAT'S what's been causing problems for the longest outside... Was getting tired of someone else being blamed for it."

She could only stare as something fit for nightmares approached the edge of the settlement. Her own quest for the relic power-source seemed inconsequential with the threat that this clearly malicious being posed. Her back legs retreated and she was clearly ready to bolt again, one arm hooked underneath Elijah's.

When the vehicle was forced to make a harsh and jarring stop, Red locked himself in his seat by digging in the monstrous and clumsy talons that made up his only real weaponry. From the scars and tape covering the passenger seat it was clearly something he'd become used to over the years. He smiled enjoying the excitement despite the danger and looked to Zweiton with a grin until the explosion rocked the cabin and threw him across his partner's lap, his head slamming against the dash prior.

“That could have ended very badly for everyo—“

"Well... whatever doesn't kill you..." He grinned and pulled himself up, hearing a constant ringing in his acoustics. He was tapping his ear when his eyes widened on the incoming terror. "Probably voids the warranty..." he muttered, finally seeming serious.

“—oly crap was that Petalhoof?”

"Eh..." he skewed his lips awkwardly.

“That’s trouble, isn’t it.”

"I think it's whatever it wants to be," he noticed the cannibalized parts, dangling like trophies from the armor. "And more..."

Dressed to Kill - Last Stance

"Azzie!"

"Look out!"

"..."

Azhrarn casted a glance at the maddening Alraunoid as he dodged the incoming attacks from her tendrils, by now it was evident that their opponent had given up on any form of self control or limiting of her powers. That if the creature had ever had such restraints. "Dodge them, Ein!" Azhrarn called as he kept moving before stopping and turning him to look upon the Alraunoid. "Ein, Miss Hydra, can you keep the opponent distracted for a few moments?" The young reploid didn't really waited for a reply as eight bits on his armor started to glow.

Argent, let's do this...

Will'o'Wisps system, all units Deployed.

Ice chip starting decompression.

The luminous orbs bits detached from Azharn's armor, starting to move like electrons around a nucleus, following an erratic path all around the knight reploid's body. Suddenly the runes on Azhrarn's armor started to glow of a cold and pale blue light, a mist like vapor surrounding the knight as the Will'o'Wisps seemed to dance inside it.

Begin Sprite protocol, code: Snow Bees.

The orb bits started to move faster and faster, with each of their passings they seemed to become bigger and bigger. Until it became evident that the feeling of increased size was due to the amount of ice it had formed around their masses. By that point, they had stopped their orbiting, now just floating next to Azharn who just looked at the Alraunoid extending his hand, the palm open, toward it.

"Come, Snow Bees."

The ice around the Will'o'Wisps exploded, when the cloud of microscopic ice shards dissolved around Azhrarn floated eight fairy-like figures that felt like coming out from an ancient tale. Each of them was unique and yet they resembled each other as if they were sisters, a blue light glowing in the middle of their chests indicated where the original Will'o'Wisp acted as a heart and soul for these newly born bits. It was evident by the cute\magical girl-ish striking pose they took, that the one controlling them was mostly Argent.

"And here comes the reinforcements..."

Go, Argent!

With that, the Snow Bees darted toward the Alraunoid and its own smaller bits, attacking them by mean of freezing beams delivered in the form of 'fairy breath'.

THE ROAD OUT | LAST CHANCE

Gear had to shake his head, his circuits trying to re-establish camera feed and sound receptors following the explosion. Something had sent Elijah flying, and when he looked toward the source following the picture returning, he zoomed in and winced. "W... What the heck? Is that a Ride Armor? But... it doesn't even have a pilot! How is that thing moving!?" he winced, before Petalhoof dropped him to the floor. "Hey! Could've been more gentle with the landing, you know..." he grumbled, sitting up.

"Well... This looks bad. Something ugly, and I don't have Nid to help me with this." he sighed, dusting his arms off before he slipped the S-Knuckles over his hands, sending electricity through the weapons to get ready for battle. The sound of a vehicle stopping made him turn his head to look back toward Red Fisher, a veteran hunter from their forces, and Zweiton, the guy they rescued from their mission the other day. "Well... Least i'm not alone, huh?"

"Well... whatever doesn't kill you... Probably voids the warranty..."

"Can we not talk about voided warranties? That thing's got cables dangling from it and I don't need disturbing images filling my data files on what it can do with them." Gear grimaced, punching his hands together, causing sparks to fly from the weapons to make sure the voltage was running strong. He knew how Red Fisher fought, but what about Zweiton?

“That’s trouble, isn’t it.”

"Well, let's analyze the situation. We have what looks like a Raiden-model Ride Armor... Without a pilot, tons of things on it that shouldn't be on it, and it sounds pissed. I think trouble might be putting it mildly." Gear winced, turning back to the approaching foe, who stopped and looked toward Petalhoof. Almost as if it recognized her.

"RRRRRRRRRRRR.... PEEEEEEEEEEEETAAAAAAAAAAALHOOOOOOOOOOOOOF..." came the long-drawn out mechanical groan-like roar from their foe, which seemed to actually make gear afraid. He hadn't really seen anything like this before.

"Me... Afraid..." came Nid's voice to Petalhoof. Something about that beast was terrifying to him, and it was more than just how it looked like a walking monstrosity from a robot-based horror movie. It had butted heads with Petalhoof a few times, but they were only passive engagements, only searching for things to add to it's armor. This was the first time it had exclusively chased Petalhoof down and even called her by name. After a moment, it raised a hand and put it to the sandy grown, where numerous green cables began to snake down around its limb and stab into the ground. These were just one of many things taken from the zone Petalhoof was defending, and more.

"EEEEEEEEEEEELIIIIIIIMIIIIIINAAAAAAAAAAATE!" it growled once more, as the numerous cables began to stab up through the ground and back into it like they were threading wounds closed, all the while approaching both group's. Gear's reaction was immediate, shouting 'NOPE NOPE NOPE' as the cables tried to attack him, only for him to jump clear of them and rush toward the larger foe. That only left Red Fisher and Zweiton to evade.

"So... Guess that thing doesn't like you, huh? Too bad for it, I don't like it very much." Elijah grimaced, raising his Buster Rifle and taking aim at the Ride Armor, locating the pod-like launcher it had on its shoulder and snapping a few blasts off at it. Much to his horror, the Ride Armor wasn't as slow or sluggish as it moved before. With surprising agility, the machine moved out of the way and prepared to rush at them, only for Gear to leap up and smash his S-Knuckle in its chest, causing it to stumble to the side.

"Nice save, Arclight!" Elijah called out, before he folded his arms. Having an Electric Chip would have been handy right about now, but it couldn't be helped. Gear's weapons would have to suffice. "What can you tell me about that thing? I can see a few of the... Attachments... It has came from your place, and a few from others. Any idea why it's chasing you exclusively?" he asked, raising the Rifle and firing a three-shot burst for the Ride Armor's leg, damaging it slightly.

Her charge successful, Hailfire gained altitude while watching the Alraunoid recover from the attack and struggle to dig its supporting roots back into the ground. As if in response to the assault, it threw out two more tendrils that were heading straight for Einhorn and Azhrarn. “Oh no you don’t!” Hailfire snorted.

"Ein, Miss Hydra, can you keep the opponent distracted for a few moments?"

“But of course!” She replied with a laugh and dove once more, this time aiming for the side of the plant ‘bot. One of the wild tendrils clipped her as it passed, trying to bring her down as the Alraunoid was beginning to catch on to her plan, and felt the Reploid equivalent of being winded as it thumped her right in the chest. It was enough to slow her down and now Hailfire might not have enough momentum to knock it over completely like she wanted to.

Hailfire’s ultimate goal was to uproot it entirely; if it was plant-based, perhaps it doesn’t do so well out of the ground?

"I think it's whatever it wants to be"

“I’m not going to argue with it, that’s for sure.” Zweiton’s voice was a bit shaky as he was trying his damnedest not to show too much fear but this was his first major battle situation. Sure he went through the virtual simulations, live ammo training, and a few special torments, but those were safe (for the most part) and something he could return from. This was the real world and something he might not survive.

"Well, let's analyze the situation. We have what looks like a Raiden-model Ride Armor... Without a pilot, tons of things on it that shouldn't be on it, and it sounds pissed. I think trouble might be putting it mildly."

Zweiton tapped a hidden switch on the side of his helmet, bringing the visor down. While not able to tell him what the mechanical monstrosity was packing, it allowed him to judge its distance and speed. And as Gear was finding out, it moved fast for something of its size. Zweiton barely had time to react before a cable slammed into the ground where he was standing moments before, fear overtaking him and causing Zweiton to briefly lose his balance as he ran to avoid it.

Even the lightest armored Reploid still had more defensive capabilities than he; training had drilled that lesson into his head quickly enough. Direct hits were to be avoided at all times. And training had also drilled it into Zweiton to not lose his head, so he took a deep breath and regained something vaguely resembling composure.

“I’m going to set up shop!” He yelled back at the others as he pulled the Viper off his shoulder and readied the sniper rifle, putting distance between himself and the Raiden. It was Zweiton’s own special way of saying he was going to find a place to take potshots from, though Red Fisher might be the only one who knew what he was talking about.
