[16:15 - Inside Styx Base]

It was dark out by the time it came, the distress call having been blinking on the receiver in the guardhouse for at least ten minutes while it's denizens played poker in abject boredom. Commander Wolff sighed as he walked in, seeing his crew regard him with salutes, though he was sure some of them viewed him with about as much interest as a stack of yard tools at the hardware store, it didn't matter. The lupine Reploid went to check the call and discovered what had been missed. Normally responsible and prompt he grunted and left without saying a word, making his displeasure known.
It was ten minutes later the base's contingent had been gathered together by none other than the chief medical officer and self appointed 'inventionist' Gene Replete. There was no sign of Wolff as she gave their new assignment in a giddy tone. She was excited which was usually a bad sign for those involved as it almost always meant that without the strict guidance of Wolff, it was guinea pig time for the new recruits, and a chance to gather combat data.
"We've received a call from Eichel Engineering and it appears they're in dire straights. They need assistance now... or twenty minutes ago technically. I think perhaps whoever turned down the sound for the comm should not try this in the future!" She spoke loudly while holding up her tablet, a wide smile on her face. It was exciting despite the nature of the situation. It wasn't often they had an actual opportunity for real combat and she'd been itching to try out the recorders she'd given all of the new recruits, along with a personal pet project she'd given to one of the most junior enlistees.
"Anyways, we should probably go now... we are wasting time just standing here while they could very well be in grave danger so... off you go." She made a shooing motion toward the garage, coaxing everyone to get in the larger of the two transport vehicles, and also the only one up and running after it had cannibalized the other for parts. "Just cram in there, anyone else is welcome to come but..." She picked up her tablet again as she leaned against the door to the vehicle, holding it to read.
"Hailfire, Arclight, Chimera... and Azhrarn. You guys can't get out of this, sorry. But you get the fun ride today! I hope we get ambushed..." She stared wide eyed for a moment before chuckling, making it seem like a joke as she swung up into the driver's seat. But one could never tell with her.
"Anyone else that cares to join us, get in! It'll be a bumpy ride..."She sighed contently, gripping the wheel in anticipation. "Because I forgot to get the shocks done..."
And who knows the last time we actually did -anything- around here...
[16:35 - Inside Styx Transport Vehicle No.1]

The road was uneven, bumps sending up it's passengers every few meters unless they were strapped down and secure, which for any of the new recruits was entirely up to their discretion. Rebellious, eccentric, strange, or foolish dreamers, Styx had ended up with those at the end of the line, but it was damned well going to make due, and in style! Everyone who was relatively new was grabbed for this. A test run to see if basic training had paid off...
There were seats lined on either side and room for the more bulky of their number, along with some reserves of energy, and stock weaponry that they'd used in training, but with the seriousness of this task they'd all been permitted the full use of their normal weaponry.
While Gene drove along the road toward the Engineering Laboratory, singing something whimsical to herself, a smaller female reploid say with her hands placed demurely in her lap as she looked down at her feet. A long scarf down her back and her down-turned visor would have made her look 'cool' if not for the fact her posture was anything but confident. She seemed to withdraw whenever anyone looked at her, though she had an odd smile on her face.
NOTES Welcome to Rockman X: And Eternity! This is just the beginning but hopefully this mini-arc will let people settle into their characters before we get things really rolling. Remember, you've been around for probably a few weeks so you know the faces of whose with you, even if you haven't spoken much. You can have formed whatever friendships or working relationships you desire, it makes sense when you're sharing in the frontier experience! Or the boredom, or the pain of training ad nauseum for battle that never comes...
Chaos Chimera - Was it you, Hailfire and Drachen back in the guardhouse focusing on your game a bit too much there?
Hailfire: It wasn't your job to monitor the calls that day was it? Maybe you were just trying to keep the others company, shame on them.
Azhrarn - You are probably one of the newest, but you too have been working with these others. It's clear a few aren't exactly new at this, though they may be lower on the hierarchy then the other officers.
Gear: You... have a new friend. He doesn't seem like he's going to eat you or anything but you definitely have something you didn't have before the start of this mission.
Just suggestions! but really, get a dialogue going, get to know eachother and have fun, because things will blow up soon. Gene smiling, it's a sign of doom.

Azhrarn turned to finally notice the figure of the quiet female one waving at him. With her voice so low he had been unable to hear her, but now it was clear she was somewhat cheering for him. Trying to stay close to the safe cover of the armored transport, not that he could really say something about that choice not being the wisest one could do. Then stuff happened and sounds of shots were to be heard.
"Arg! You never tested this did you Replete! How the hell is he..."
The black armored reploid was to make some comments about extreme test fielding but to be completely honest, his attention had been drawn by the shooter that came attacking the female one, now sitting on the ground and firing her Hand Buster with something that could be defined a little haste. The question about if her had been noticed due to the waving she made to cheer him didn't really needed an answer. It had been a caring and kind gesture despite the distance and the safety precaution she took, it had been a kind gesture he would feel a jerk if not taking the chance to repay it.
As the black armored reploid dashed toward the shooter that was closing on Einhorn, he wondered how the girlbot face was under the helmet.
"Don't come near here... I'll s-shoot!"
Then between Einhorn and the thug were first a pair of blue beams, one missing by a long distance while the other hitting the criminal's shoulder, and then a black armored shadow charging on the assailant from the side. The first hit that connected was charged with all the momentum gained with the charge and sent the thug flying back, only to be followed by a dashing Azhrarn that kept slashing at him with the swords. Too busy to think at the safety of his teammate, once more the reploid didn't really restrained himself as the energy covered blades carved huge wounds on the enemy, one strike, two strikes then Azhrarn moved the two weapons close, letting them connect to each other to form an heavy two handed weapon. Planting his feet back on ground and using all the momentum gained so far on the final strike that followed and sent the tugh flying first and landing in two separate halves later.
"You're alright?" The black armored reploid turned to face the girly-looking one. His expression seemed to concerned about her well-being while the tune on his voice confermed it. "Take your time to aim..." He said with a gentle smile. "...you're not alone and you'll always have someone covering you while you do it." He added before noticing Hydra had took the sky. "Amazing..." He couldn't help to say out of the blue, flying was a feeling he could only hope to get close with the wired anchors and even in that case he hadn't brought them due to his first experimental results. The reploid shook his head and returned his attention on Einhorn. "I'd advice to find cover and provide support fire from there..." He said looking around to find a suitable one.

"Huh? How old are you really?" Gear found himself asking as he glanced at the Chimera Mutos Reploid. "I didn't know machines aged that badly, and if you were that old, i'm surprised you didn't get upgraded... Or, y'know, retired to go relax somewhere else."
"Watch your mouth you young..."
"Sorry please ignore Goat, and let's just say my body isn't what it used to be." Chimera said before the vehicle came to a stop.
"Alright boys and girls! Here they come!"
"Well this might be fun." Chimera said as they exited the transport. The team split up- their first mission together of course they wouldn't really work as a team. Looking around he tried his best to assess the situation he was always stuck as a sentry, such a boring job now he was in the field and had to wing it. "Goat, lets have some fun." With that Goat's horns lit up and the lion head vanished.
Chimera began wandering around, trying his best to act like some Old bot who wasn't quite there in the CPU. Having caught the attention of a couple guards who approached him. "What are you doing out here old man?" A guard asked approaching from behind.
"I'm just trying to get home, can you help me?" Chimera said before goat could answer.
"Your not supposed to be here, it's dangerous." The other guard said from infront of the Mutos Reploid.
Once they were in range Goat's 'hammers' dropped into attack position from is upper arms. At this moment glowing claws could be seen behind him as Chimera activated the energy claws that belonged to the lion headed side. Before they had time to react one claw found its way into a guard while the other felt the force of the pile driver. One of the guards fell backwards with some visible damage to his chest, while the other staggered backwards covering the holes in its abdomen.
"Who's next?" Chimera asked as the cloaking system shut off revealing the lion half once more. glowing energy claws near his hand as he looked around. Looking around he noticed Gear was now decked out ins some new armor, and was laying on the ground, Einhorn was shooting randomly, Azhrarn looked to be well Chimera wasn't sure if he was happy or not about taking down an enemy. "Where is the other one?" he questioned before catching sight of Hailfire who had landed on a crate and let out a victory cry.

"I'm not sure exactly how he works either! Only that he seems very happy when he's fed... Look at that face? Can you say no to that?"
"Woman, I will consider turning in my resignation papers to be your ginuea pig!" Gear tried to shout from the floor, but considering the action going on outside, the direction he was talking, and the possibility that even if he was heard it'd just be conveniently ignored, it was almost possible he wasn't heard. Sighing, he shut his eyes and began to think.
"Note to self: Test this before you get into a fight... This is just saddening.: Gear grumbled to himself as he lay motionless face-down on the floor, unable to move much more of the armor except for the head. It couldn't be that the armor was too heavy, or else he would have crumpled immediately... No, he knew he could handle it. Something else was causing him problems now, but what? It didn't help that there was so much going on, he found it difficult to think right now...
"Don't come near here... I'll s-shoot!"
"Oh, great, there's trouble too. Let's see... Wait! When Nid bit me, he transferred that data into my mind, right? Maybe there's something else that can help me-"
"Fooooood..."
"Not now, stomach, i'm trying to th- Wait, that wasn't my stomach! Nid!?"
"Food?"
"NID DAMMIT, WHY ARE YOU IN MY HEAD AND WHY ARE YOU STILL HUNGRY!?"
The realization that Nid had been in his head the whole time didn't help but bug the man, who was at least thankful for the fact that combat seemed to have stopped going on around him. Probably the girl had done something about the thug after shakily trying to shoot at him. Refocusing on his efforts, he grumbled. "Okay, nevermind that... Nid, you're in my head now, assuming you control part of the armor, let's try moving in unison. Think like I do... Let's try moving it together. Can you do that?"
"Food!"
".........."
This creature was going to try his patience so hard.
Nevertheless, as he focused on his left arm, he could feel himself able to move his fingers now behind the shield, before slowly beginning to move his arms before putting pressure on them. The movement felt a little sluggish, but he assumed it was just because he needed to get used to it. Soon, he was on hands and knees, before a leg was brought up. Finally, progress! In moments, he stood tall now, standing at just slightly higher than he was before. He looked around for just a moment, before beginning to move forward slowly. Slowly, he turned to look back slightly, catching sight of his assisting ally. "Thanks for the save, but... Try to focus a little bit more next time?" he asked, sighing, before turning forward and continuing to stomp forward. Walking was still taking a bit to get used to.
As he moved forward, however, he could detect three enemy Reploids now, one of which that was aware of him, and wielding what looked like an electrified baton. "Alright, Nid, let's see what kind of weapons you've got." he noted, trying to move his arms... And finding them unable to move. "Er, Nid? I need my arms."
"Food?"
"Stop saying 'Food'! Stop being hungry! Stop being... You! You're supposed to be helping me fight, but you're causing more problems than solving them! Maybe you don't like me or something, but you're shaping me up to not like you back, y'know. If you want to start off on better terms, start calling me 'Gear'!" he growled, the enemy reploid rushing in now since he seemed to be arguing with something.
"Foooood..." That one sounded a little more sad that time, and even Gear couldn't help but feel just a bit bummed... Just a little, however, as worry at the incoming attack was still prevailent.
"F-fine! Call me 'Food'! Call me whatever you want, just MOVE YOUR ASS BEFORE WE BOTH DIE, DAMMIT!" Gear exclaimed, and all he heard was a happy exclamation of 'Food!' before he found himself up in the air seemingly without warning, as the enemy reploid attacked. Both foe and Gear looked equally confused as to what happened, the jumping movement being faster than either of them expected.
In moments, the armored Gear landed behind the reploid, who quickly whirled around to try and land a back-hit on him, only for him to raise one of the arm shields and smash the weapon out of his hand. Turning around, he held the other shield up to the chest of the reploid... Before the tip shot out with great force, spearing the Reploid through the torso with little fare, lifting the now-retired enemy and casting them aside. Still two enemies left... The armored reploid was advancing fast now, leaping at the second reploid that begun to open fire with their arm Buster. Again, the shields took the brunt of the impact before he landed upon the ground, aiming the tips of the weapons at the floor.
Triggering both pilebunkers a moment later, he propelled himself knee-first at the Reploid, running them through on the knee-spike before slamming them against the base wall as a finisher. Gear's head seemed to turn to take an account of the last one, who assumed the assailant was strictly regulated to close-combat, and attempted to flee to a more favorable position. Unfortunately, their thought was wrong as he aimed the right-arm shield at their fleeing form. A small torrent of buster shots, weaker than standard Buster arms-fire, flew out and slowly scrapped their target. In less than a minute, three foes had been reduced to inactivity.
"... I blinked and I missed it, I swear." was all Gear could say, the feeling of losing control of his body being a weird one. He felt like a spectator in someone's competitive game match watching from the head camera so it felt like he was actually in the game. "That was... Awesome. That was all you, Nid!" he grinned.
"Food!"
"And just like that, good feeling's gone." he sighed half-heartedly, but he was nevertheless still pleased with the outcome. The armor was FAR more maneuverable than what his first impression gave him. He just needed to train with Nid more in order to be able to control it properly. "This is the power of Nightmare Nidhoggr... Heheh, color me impressed. Gene actually made something good for once." he remarked, before looking about. Spotting Chimera a short distance away, he waved, still feeling the sluggish movement. Apparently only Nid could properly move it.
"Hey, old man, you alright there? Didn't pop a joint yet, did you? Last thing you want is Gene working on you." he remarked, moving toward the chimera mutos.

[16:55 - Eichel Engineering]
Standing beside Gear with her weapon held in her wrist. She looked spooked, glancing side to side as she guarded Gear's supine form in the sandy dirt. Stepping back she almost clipped his boot with her heel until the sight of something she missed came into view. The swordsman from earlier was fighting off one of the thugs she hadn't managed to destroy with her wild volley of inappropriately aimed shots. The sight of a strong slash and following bisection of the reploid before her left her head to cock toward one side, a finger rising to point at the resultant corpse as if asking. 'You... you did that?' Awe, though it was the same awe that applied to all the capable fighters doing feats she could never imagine herself able to complete. At least not as she currently was.
"You're alright?"
It took her a moment to realize he was talking to her. She looked back for a moment then nodded. "Y-yeah... but I was going to be fine. I've g-got this gun and all. I'm a soldier just like everyone else." She added without conviction, looking down at her feet, though she sounded absolutely serious.
"Take your time to aim..."
She nodded, looking away with hurt pride. She didn't want to be saved, even if it was necessary. It bothered her how useless she really was outside of being a pack-mule for e-tanks.
"Thanks for the save, but... Try to focus a little bit more next time?"
"I already hea-" It wasn't Azhrarn this time but Gear. He was at least standing on his own and she could sigh in relief. There were more to fight and as he began to engage again she held her palm over the controls on her buster.
"Alright, Nid, let's see what kind of weapons you've got. Er, Nid? I need my arms."
Gene... this isn't funny! What the hell are you trying to do here? Oh creators... I'm probably next. She's testing him before she finds something worse to do to me... AGAIN... Last time it left me, I can still feel it there inside me. Waiting...
"...you're not alone and you'll always have someone covering you while you do it."
"Y-you're not alone either..." Her eyes widened as she saw something approaching from behind the transport itself. The fact someone was trying to approach them while Gear managed the three other thugs meant that perhaps they were now being considered a serious enough threat. Part of her, a very morbid and strange part was proud of that. Of being a thorn in someone's side.
"Amazing..."
"I'm just glad she's on our side, otherwise I'd have to say a bit terrifying..." Einhorn smiled awkwardly as she watched the figure moving closer, it's boots visible underneath the higher suspension of the vehicle.
"I'd advice to find cover and provide support fire from there..."
"H-he's going after Gene!" She shouted, waving her weapon again, getting a shot off only to have it ricochet off the side panel of their ride.
Gene Replete sat calmly in the driver's seat, her feet kicked up against the dashboard while the single tablet sat in her lap, monitored with excited eyes and a smile one could only ascribe to a mother carnivore watching her first born tear it's prey to shreds. The readings for NN were going well, she could hear the conversations around her, having given everyone a piece of surveillance equipment from the start. Life readings were normal, though energy spikes here and there were to be expected during an attack.
Despite being an older model... with some bonus features you certainly do work rather well don't you Lion. Or do I mean Chimera? I think I'll have to ask Seele about upgrading those hammers later.
She hummed and watched more readings come in, the numbers processed quickly by her eyes. Seele would be interested as well in seeing a certain column beside her own name. It had yet to carry any active readings but soon it would. If only in another few minutes. It was more background noise from her comms but it made her smile widely as she heard it.
"Food!"
"And just like that, good feeling's gone. This is the power of Nightmare Nidhoggr... Heheh, color me impressed. Gene actually made something good for once."
"I think you're doing a great job out there. Make sure you take good care of Gear, Nini. I expect him to come back in one piece, or at least all of his original pieces..." She narrowed her eyes, playfully petting the screen showing her beloved creation.
-Hickory reporting final seal has been unlocked, access granted- The round bit-bot hovered backwards, it's tiny propeller units continuing to displace air. It didn't help that his creator found him to be adorable and added such unnecessary fixtures when he could float fine on his own by use of energy fields. His company backed away to the other side of the double doors with him, having formed a small tool in his frontal compartment. It pointed toward the door and shot a small blast of energy, breaking the locks themselves and any attempt to bar access to the building in the immediate future.
-Dickory reporting, interior search protocols initiated. Awaiting team, repeat, awaiting team. Gene Replete, assistance is required.- the second chirped, hovering in place while the doors swung open, nearly crushing Hickory in the process and dazing the second bit-bot so badly it began to speak gibberish.
-Reporting Dickory, inferior spectrum dance logarithm. Linguistics faulty. Attempt at czechoslovakian traffic warden now active.- It waggled in it's hover, one light flickering on it's side panel.
-Hickory... requests... competent colleague...- The sputtering sound of it's feedback was disconcerting, though Gene had already packed away her tablet in the pocket of her long coat. Only one last little smile to the image of NN's now active data stream delayed her.
-Release the rampant wildebeest!- Dickory squealed, turning defiantly in circles against invisible enemies.
"Initiate repair sequence" she added calmly, knowing that with the amount of devices built into her own body, one would be able to transmit the request to her beleaguered bit-bots.
The normally content to stay in the sidelines Replete was pulling a different tablet from her bag now. One with an odd blue screen that seemed to cast an illumination all over her body. It gaze grid-lines where there were none and she finally stood up, opening the door while her eyes rested solely on the device, seemingly unaware of who was hunting her.
BATTLE Azhrarn - Gene could use some cover as she's clearly not taking her environment into account..
Chaos - You and Gear can work your way toward the building, though chances are there may be a few blocking your way from getting in. These are fewer, but more clever than your last opponents. Expect a possibility of evasiveness and defense from them.
Hailfire - Now that you're in, it's time to find any evidence of survivors, as well as routing out the enemy still inside. There's always a leader for this sort of scum and chances are the group will stumble upon the ringleader soon enough.
Gear - NN should be much easier to use in terms of movement. Both you and he are getting a hang of things and it seems he can respond instinctively before you need to. It's time to start working on becoming a better team. The doors are open and once you get the trash in the lobby you can work your way up and rejoin Hailfire.

There's a good reason why many dread a Mutos reploid going Maverick; they can be as wild in battle as the animal they take inspiration from. And the sudden demonstration from Hailfire would likely only cement those feelings. She gave a quick flick of her wrists to throw off some of the fluid still sizzling on her claws. Briefly glancing around, she noted that her comrades seemed to be able to hold their own—hold that thought. A purple lightshow surrounded one of said comrades and Hailfire seemed a bit... out of it. Mesmerized, even. But the light quickly faded and Hailfire shook herself out of it, and just in time, too; Einhorn's flurry of shots, while none actually came close enough to hit her, still caused Hailfire to instinctively hunch and duck her three heads. Oof... that girl might be the death of us all!
One of the heads perked up at Chaos Chimera and Hailfire looked up as well, watching him. She was about to yell out a warning when the goons approached, but the sudden turnabout caused her to doubletake. Clever! Chaos was a lot more than meets the eye, that's for sure. That's when Hailfire noticed the hole in the side of the building. Spreading her wings again, she flew up close to the smoldering hole to investigate. Using her still burning claws, she clung to the side of the building and peered inside.
The right side of her vision turned to static. She screeched a moment later when the signals of pain finally registered from the blast that slammed into that side of her head and she lost her footing, sliding a few feet below the hole. Not too much of a problem considering the length of her three necks. The attackers had, of course, quickly moved to defend the breach. It had been a bad move to look with her main head, but the other two didn't offer vision as most would understand it. The next thing to register was anger. The red-accented head opened its mouth, a faint clicking sound heard a few times as it primed the nozzle inside for an attack. Then, it aimed down into the hole and let loose a short, but furious blast of napalm-like flames to match Hailfire's own fury.
Continuous screaming from inside told her that she had made a direct hit and the swearing of a couple of others as their comrade had been engulfed in the sticky flames. Only a thorough dunking in water could save him now, as the activated sprinkler system and “stop, drop, and roll” were ineffective against something that clung to surfaces and fueled itself longer than any normal fire. While they were distracted by the slow roasting of their companion, Hailfire had managed to crawl inside the breach, the reploid equivalent of blood dripping from the right side of her face and especially what used to be the optic. The edge of the window had been charred from her claws. Wings were useless here; Hailfire kept them tucked in, but the boosters weren't and she turned them on full blast.
Rocketing through the small room, the path behind her was filled with massive ice spikes as a side-effect of the refrigeration units used to propel herself in flight, but now they were for dashing. The remaining mercenaries were caught-off guard by the charge, but one holding a riot shield had the good sense to hold it up to protect himself. His arms suddenly fell limp and he dropped the shield to reveal a massive metal blade sticking out of his chest. Of course, while he had been looking at Hailfire he had neglected the tail which had snaked its way between his legs; a fatal mistake. His comrade reacted, a beam saber severing the long tail. A blast of ice made short work of him, solidly freezing him into place.
Taking a deep breath to cool her inner systems, as well as her rage, she pressed a hidden switch on the left side of her head. “This is Hailfire Hydra, I've made it into Eichel Engineering and I'm encountering heavy resistance.” Her voice was strangely calm, with no mention of the wounds she had, something of which her pride would not normally allow her to speak of unless confronted with it.
Getting an idea, Hailfire picked up the long, limp appendage and fished around in the mess of circuitry where it had been separated from the rest of her body. She grasped the two main cables that allowed her tail to move and pulled hard to straighten it out, tying a knot with the slack. The spaded tail now resembled a spear, and grasping the end, she leaned the newly-purposed weapon on her shoulder and cautiously made her way down the hallway.
~~~~~
Zweiton could only guess at what was going on, as the faint sounds of battle were the only thing that reached his ears. What he did know was that the whole place had become as stirred up as a hornet's nest, more boots thumping down the hallway by the minute. They were heading towards what must have been an explosion; the whole building had shook when it happened. As much as he wanted the doctor to receive medical attention, it was unsafe to move with all of the activity around him. Zweiton would need to wait until the Hunters arrived or they'd both die. Another roar, much closer now, though still distant. Something about it made him shudder. Was it coming from the courtyard of the building?
"Y-yeah... but I was going to be fine. I've g-got this gun and all. I'm a soldier just like everyone else."
"Oh, sorry if I stole your kill..." Azhrarn replied sincerely as he looked first to the remains of whatever sort of thug he had smashed with his swords. "I mean, they felt a little too close to a ranged unit, sounded sorta dangerous for you, but again I'm a novice at this..." He was going to add something else, but the noises coming from what he believed to be a fallen as he risen to fight once more distracted him.
"Thanks for the save, but... Try to focus a little bit more next time?"
"I already hea-"
"Oh..." Azhrarn couldn't help about feeling surprised to notice Gear's face under the new set of armor that seemed to came back from the lands of scrapped Reploids. "...so you weren't a fallen after all, where did you found time to change armor like that?" The black armored reploid questioned, mostly himself, having missed the transformation due to being under a cover and a little distracted by assaulting thugs. "It looks he-" He couldn't finish his sentence that the other Reploid had already launched himself to battle. "Gone..."
"Y-you're not alone either..."
"Thanks..." Azhrarn replied with a gentle and yet distant-looking smile, blame his parents that modeled his traits that way. "...I really appreciated the support you tried to give back there." He added, not too loud because it felt a little awkward to say he liked being cheered upon while butchering people.
"I'm just glad she's on our side, otherwise I'd have to say a bit terrifying..."
"Oh, she's scary as the Recycling Chambers of Reploid's hell..." It was a story his mother came up back when his personality was still a growning child-like one. An hell for dead evil reploids, where their bodies could be recycled into new ones, their souls being purified by the flames. "...but flying, that feeling must be wonderful." He said in a dream-like tune, somewhat forgetting about the battle. "I can only get close to it but its still far away from my grasp..."
"H-he's going after Gene!"
It had been Einhorn that actually noticed the attacker to Gene's position and informed the a little too much distracted Azhrarn. The black armored Reploid sighed, looking at the direction the girl-bot had pointed with her firing. While no one seemed too fond of her, going home losing their commander on the very first sortie sounded a little disappointing to him. And maybe Gene was a little better than what she looked.
Maybe...
“This is Hailfire Hydra, I've made it into Eichel Engineering and I'm encountering heavy resistance.”
"This is Azhrarn and Einhorn..." Azhrarn said hoping he got her name right. "...we're going to come as well to offer support." He switched off the comm before turning to the horned Reploid. "Alright, that one came out from our access point and I need your support..." He said, standing and stepping forward in a way that he hoped looked sorta brave. "Will'o'Wisps units Seven and Eight deploy, Pattern: Berillium." He whispered as two more orbs lighten up and detached from his forearm guards and joined the other two floating into an orbiting pattern around his person.
"Here I go, cover me once he'll notice my approach!"
Azhrarn dashed toward the little he could see of the figure that was trying to sneak upon their truck. The first steps were fast but then he reached his trademark speed boosting forward as he accellerated. In front of his vision, four targeting icons tried to lock on upon the sneaky figure, something that seemed to be made hard by his speed and the evasive pattern he had decided to employ into approaching. As he came close enough to observe his opponent, the reploid muttered some rust-related curses noticing it was a ranged unit and equipped with a shield as well. Something his ranged weaponry didn't seemed really fit to breach through. The first volley of beams was a complete failure, missign and by far the target but at least attracting its attention.
"Alright Ein, I'm on your hands now..." Azhrarn said in the comm as he dashed backward into a series of evasive movements, dodging with quick and acrobatics moves the return fire from the criminal while trying to lure the ranged thug away from the tank and into a better position for Einhorn's firing solutions. "...give me an opening and I have a nice surprise for him." He was too distant for his grin to be seen by the other reploid, but his voice seemed to have some nasty surprise for the unfortunate opponent...
...that obviously if he managed to survive the barrage of shots that was being directed at him.
"Hey, old man, you alright there? Didn't pop a joint yet, did you? Last thing you want is Gene working on you."
"I don't plan on being anyone's guinea pig again." Chimera said as he turned towards the complex. That's when Hailfire's voice came over the com, stating that she had entered the base and has met heavy resistance. Looking at the others for a brief second Chimera darted straight for the building.
"We should wait on the others, rushing in head first without knowing the lay of the land is a bad idea." Goat warned. A group of goons stood between Chimera and the entrance blasters pointed right at him.
"Fun." Chimera said as he launched right at the goons, while earlier he was reserved and chose to use goat to his advantage he knew that there wasn't time to trick these ones and quickly activated his energy claws digging them into the nearest guard. "Come on we're just warming up?"
As Chimera turned towards another guard a blaster struck his shoulder, though the shot tore a hole in the plating, it didn't get any further as the claw soon found its second victim. However with the mechanical parts in his right shoulder exposed Chimera knew that all it would take would be a single well aimed shot to put his right limb out of commission.
[17:00 - Eichel Engineering]
“This is Hailfire Hydra, I've made it into Eichel Engineering and I'm encountering heavy resistance.”
"This is Azhrarn and Einhorn... we're going to come as well to offer support."
All she could do was nod, knowing it was her time to shine, or at least aim straight. She was still nervous but also agitated. Annoyed at being saved, though mainly at the need to be saved. She was worried about Hailfire. Even though the two never outright spoke in the hallways and yards of Styx, she had felt a sort of kinship. It perhaps came up for everyone. They were all unwanted or unusual in some way and it made her feel less alone.
"Alright, that one came out from our access point and I need your support..."
Her buster was held ready as she saw the guards coming from the building, noticing their security was finally breached.
"Will'o'Wisps units Seven and Eight deploy, Pattern: Berillium. Here I go, cover me once he'll notice my approach!"
As Azhrarn dashed she held steady, watching him and the path he took, his speed a bit much to focus on for long until he stopped and began evading, leaving it up to her to distract the guard who had readied his rifle in anticipation of what appeared to be easy prey.
"Alright Ein, I'm on your hands now... give me an opening and I have a nice surprise for him."
She nodded, noticing that Gene continued to gaze at the tablet, completely avoiding the sniper that had been coming after her. Now that he was distracted one of the new thugs coming from inside the building caught sight of her walking toward the entrance, clearly enraptured in what she was gazing into.
"This better work..." Einhorn muttered, holding up her arm and starting to shoot toward the sky. It liberated the sniper's attention, drawing him toward her, his gun raised though he held up his shield in defense now. It left an exposed flank that would only be open for a limited amount of time while he calculated the larger threat to his person. He even thought to turn back and shoot Gene who was clearly not viewing anything around her as dangerous.
"You shoot me I will shoot you back... or near you... or..." she groaned and held up her trembling arm, giving the enemy sniper her war-face. She looked almost intimidating if not for her obvious anxiety.
In front of the Eichel building Gene was drawing patterns on her tablet, almost like a game as the first shots came in from the open doorway. Chaos had taken down two of the guards and two more remained between the team and their goal. One of them raised a buster, the other something akin to an energy pole lance. The shots made streaking patterns of light in the dark of the night, but soon flattened out into nothing against an invisible wall in front of Gene's lowered head. Where they sank in, the grid-lines lit up along her features, then dissolved away until no evidence remained.
She swiped her finger, switching over to a separate task as the guard looked confused and raised his weapon again.
"Hailfire, be careful, we don't want too much collateral damage." She smiled faintly, as she always did at inopportune times. The energy application was real, though the reality was not.
It materialized at her side, a shotgun conjured seemingly from the cyberspace grid that had been used earlier to absorb the shots fired. Slipping her tablet beneath her arm, she hoisted it up with a grin, aiming it toward the guard that had attempted to commit homicide moments before. "I believe you were making attempts on my life while I was occupied. I would like you to know that as long as my two pets are between me and you... that I can extend this field." She took aim, seeing the ranged guard prime his weapon.
"This rifle was my birthday present... I saved it's data for times like this. Now stand still so I can shoot you." She tugged the trigger, letting lose the absorbed energy from before with a pleased sigh. It hit home, shredding through the guard's arm and causing him to drop down to his knees.
The familiar face of the forge-master came to mind as she rolled back her shoulders and looked to the man holding the pole-arm. "Arclight... he's all yours. I don't like getting up close. And I'm sure Nini is hungry again. Hopefully he'll get his fill tonight."
"Hailfire, we're coming in, Chaos, if you would be so kind as to escort me?" She beamed, though as everyone already knew, that was never a good sign.
-Repairs complete, assisting Dickory, commencing assistance, assistance is being commenced.- The lock-pick bitbot floated, a bit tipsy toward it's twin who laid twitching on the ground after a heavy door smack.
-Damaged, unable to complete repair process, also you are redundant, it is annoying. Snark mode undamaged in assault. We do not get paid enough to do any of this- The sound was cut off as the other bot managed to open an access panel and input manual code. As if rebooted, Dickory silently came back online, it's visor flashing a soft blue tone to match Hickory.
-Orders Gene Replete- Both chimed in.
"Find survivors, go assist Hailfire upstairs."
-Despite remembering a time in which the use of our bodies was comparable to that of a volley ball, we accept these orders against our better judgement.-
BATTLE None of the staff are still alive it seems after you enter. And looking around the place seems to be sacked. There's evidence of a struggle, meaning the engineers were not expecting this to happen, and fought tooth and nail to stop it. The trails of destruction lead upstairs but most of the fighting appears to have taken place on the first floor.
The second is where you'l find Zweiton, and there's something else going on... Who is leading these men? And why haven't you seen any evidence of a leader? Something is very very wrong here...
Azhrarn - That sniper is distracted enough he's an open target. Take him down and head inside. There will be fewer, but stronger guards on the way up.
Chaos - You and Gear can work your way toward the building, though chances are there may be a few blocking your way from getting in. These are fewer, but more clever than your last opponents. Expect a possibility of evasiveness and defense from them.
Hailfire - Help is on the way but you never needed it anyways. You're a one dragon-bot army... but there's still a slim chance someone is alive out there and you'll take it. Close quarters are easy pickings, but you may need to take care not to destroy any victims still hiding.
Gear - NN has a sense for energy, and he knows there's more food inside. He's quite happy with you as his partner right now but he's a bit excitable about the prospect of finding even more dinner. He senses something even stronger than the thugs you've been dealing with... and his senses are telling you to go higher up, up toward the roof...
"This better work..."
"You shoot me I will shoot you back... or near you... or..."
Azhrarn had little time to think about how his comrade could have fired directly at the Sniper-bot. To think about maybe there was something wrong in himself for haste he took at ending other Reploids' lives with his sword. He had little time as the thug was lowering his weapon aiming to Ein, giving out one flank exposed. It was all what he had and needed to do what he knew his task was right now. "Thanks..." The dark armored reploid whispered as he charged to strike at the sniper's flank.
Breeze stroke true, connecting on the sniper's exposed side. The energized blade opened a huge and still not fatal gash upon the enemy armor which turned to retaliate with a zero distance shot that Azhrarn quickly avoided with a fast maneveur that brought him on the other side of his opponent, this time it was Zephyr that stinged the thug before the sword wielding reploid dashed first back back then sideway to avoid counters from his opponent. Avoiding hastily aimed sniper rounds, Azhrarn closed in once more, this time though his enemy managed to parry his attack with his shield, forcing the Hunter to step back and defend against the sniper barrel used as a blunt weapon.
"Now!" Azhrarn almost shouted as he crossed his weapons to parry the barrel, the swords being de-activated so that they could act like jaws rather than a scissor and catch the thug's arm. Twisting his own body he used this grab-like connection to send the Sniper flying with a throw just before dashing behind him at extreme speed.
"Vanity Ripper!"
This time his speed was even faster as multiple slash wounds appeared on the Sniper's armor, each one deeper than the next one, as Azhrarn moved all around him surrounded by fluorescent trails of lignts coming from his swords energy blades and the Will'o'Wisps trying to keep pace with their master. Finally the Sniper could see Azhrarn appear above, in front of his eyes. Surrounded by ghastly blue lights and with his eyes reflecting a glint of such light, the black armored reploid moved his two swords close to each other turning them into a broader one, made even longer by the energy blade extending from it.
"Mistral!"
Calling the name of the sword born by the union of Zephyr and Breeze, Azhrarn proceeded to stab it in the Sniper's body, going all the way through his chest and impaling it on grounds as he fell above due to the momentum. Only after the thug stopped moving he realized the full extent of what he did and how many energies he had used for such an attack. Raising from his kneeled state above the now lifeless body the reploid pulled out Mistral, separating once more into her parents' swords as he turned to look toward where Ein was. Not really sure about how the girl-bot was to react to his actions.
Maybe he had been a little too violent...
"Uh..." The reploid looked between Ein and the ruins of what he had attacked. "...thanks Ein..." He was about to ask if he overdid things, but the thought of Hydra being down there all alone trampled into his mind. "Do you think we should move in through that entrance?" He asked before turning on the comm to inform the others as well. "Azhrarn and Ein as well, we had found an entrance..." He stopped. "Well, it was an exit point for enemy forces, but I suppose we can enter as well from there..." He stopped for a second. "...any order?"
"I don't plan on being anyone's guinea pig again."
"... Huh? Well, okay, skeletons in the closet. I guess I won't ask." Gear remarked, rolling his head slightly and looking away. Still, guinea pig... Well, he was smart, at least. So far it was just him that he knew of, unless some other unfortunate soul had been pulled into her clutches... Well, then again, there was that other female reploid who tried helping him, but he didn't know if she was still on the hook or not. For now, he knew most of Gene's attention was on him and her latest pet project. It was almost scary how she treated it, almost like it was her baby or something.
"Well, then again, she created him, so I guess it's only natural..."
"Food?"
"... Forgot you were still there."
Gear raised one of the shield pods to his head, rubbing it slightly as he looked away, wondering what they were supposed to do, or where to go next. Fortunately, the unasked question was answered when Hailfire's voice chimed in.
“This is Hailfire Hydra, I've made it into Eichel Engineering and I'm encountering heavy resistance.”
"We should wait on the others, rushing in head first without knowing the lay of the land is a bad idea."
"Yeah, yeah, I hear you, old man. Though you talking in different voices confuses the hell out of me." the armored reploid remarked, still apparently having not noticed the goat head on Chaos Chimera was for more than just show. Nevertheless, now wasn't the time to worry about them as they had been faced with numerous enemy reploids now with various weapons. Weapons Gear could have used better if he hadn't been equipped with Nightmare Nidhoggr. Nevertheless, he was very well armed in his own right... Half of it was figuring out what he was armed WITH!
"This thing had a buster... or busters... I think... Let's try that again." Gear hummed. He watched Nid use them first, so now it was his turn. Focusing on his left arm, he raised the limb slowly and took aim at one Reploid running in with something that looked like the Triple Rod, stopping mid-way before he left the weapon extend out to try and impale him from a distance. Instead, the busters in the shield began to glow before another stream of energy bullets flew out, pelting and retiring the reploid, before stopping. "Got it! So, if this one has it, then..." he trailed off, looking to the other arm, before grinning at the enemy reploids.
"I've got plenty more for you, you vultures!" he announced, raising his other arm as the enemys' fears were confirmed: In moments, eight barrels lit up before a torrent of energy blasts flew out, quickly scattering the enemy forces as Gear began to go just a little ballistic with his newfound revelation. Perhaps laughing as he did it didn't help anything, but it was cut short as he noticed Chaos had taken a hit from another enemy.
One enemy reploid took note of this, raising a beam sword as he closed in from a blind spot, trying to strike the injury caused by his ally, only for Gear to move in with a shield bash and knock the reploid away. "G-geez, old man, if you wanna go into retirement, there're better places than to do it out here!" the younger reploid growled, raising one of the shield pods to help cover Chaos' side, returning fire with his other buster-equipped shield to pin enemies down. "Head for the base, i've got you covered!" he added, trying to shout over the gunfire.
"Arclight... he's all yours. I don't like getting up close. And I'm sure Nini is hungry again. Hopefully he'll get his fill tonight."
Another voice over his intercom chimed in, prompting him to look toward the trailer, before his eyes traveled to the sight of Gene holding some sort-of rifle or shotgun weapon... He couldn't quite tell. It's vicim was already on the ground, trying to recover from the damage inflicted, before Gear hung his head. "Gene, this is not the time for your creepy idea of a present! Argh..." he groaned, moving an arm toward the enemy reploid and riddling him full of buster holes before he could be classed as retired. "Well, alright, new plan. Go get her royal craziness and we can shove on with this venture."
