[16:15 - Inside Styx Base]

It was dark out by the time it came, the distress call having been blinking on the receiver in the guardhouse for at least ten minutes while it's denizens played poker in abject boredom. Commander Wolff sighed as he walked in, seeing his crew regard him with salutes, though he was sure some of them viewed him with about as much interest as a stack of yard tools at the hardware store, it didn't matter. The lupine Reploid went to check the call and discovered what had been missed. Normally responsible and prompt he grunted and left without saying a word, making his displeasure known.
It was ten minutes later the base's contingent had been gathered together by none other than the chief medical officer and self appointed 'inventionist' Gene Replete. There was no sign of Wolff as she gave their new assignment in a giddy tone. She was excited which was usually a bad sign for those involved as it almost always meant that without the strict guidance of Wolff, it was guinea pig time for the new recruits, and a chance to gather combat data.
"We've received a call from Eichel Engineering and it appears they're in dire straights. They need assistance now... or twenty minutes ago technically. I think perhaps whoever turned down the sound for the comm should not try this in the future!" She spoke loudly while holding up her tablet, a wide smile on her face. It was exciting despite the nature of the situation. It wasn't often they had an actual opportunity for real combat and she'd been itching to try out the recorders she'd given all of the new recruits, along with a personal pet project she'd given to one of the most junior enlistees.
"Anyways, we should probably go now... we are wasting time just standing here while they could very well be in grave danger so... off you go." She made a shooing motion toward the garage, coaxing everyone to get in the larger of the two transport vehicles, and also the only one up and running after it had cannibalized the other for parts. "Just cram in there, anyone else is welcome to come but..." She picked up her tablet again as she leaned against the door to the vehicle, holding it to read.
"Hailfire, Arclight, Chimera... and Azhrarn. You guys can't get out of this, sorry. But you get the fun ride today! I hope we get ambushed..." She stared wide eyed for a moment before chuckling, making it seem like a joke as she swung up into the driver's seat. But one could never tell with her.
"Anyone else that cares to join us, get in! It'll be a bumpy ride..."She sighed contently, gripping the wheel in anticipation. "Because I forgot to get the shocks done..."
And who knows the last time we actually did -anything- around here...
[16:35 - Inside Styx Transport Vehicle No.1]

The road was uneven, bumps sending up it's passengers every few meters unless they were strapped down and secure, which for any of the new recruits was entirely up to their discretion. Rebellious, eccentric, strange, or foolish dreamers, Styx had ended up with those at the end of the line, but it was damned well going to make due, and in style! Everyone who was relatively new was grabbed for this. A test run to see if basic training had paid off...
There were seats lined on either side and room for the more bulky of their number, along with some reserves of energy, and stock weaponry that they'd used in training, but with the seriousness of this task they'd all been permitted the full use of their normal weaponry.
While Gene drove along the road toward the Engineering Laboratory, singing something whimsical to herself, a smaller female reploid say with her hands placed demurely in her lap as she looked down at her feet. A long scarf down her back and her down-turned visor would have made her look 'cool' if not for the fact her posture was anything but confident. She seemed to withdraw whenever anyone looked at her, though she had an odd smile on her face.
NOTES Welcome to Rockman X: And Eternity! This is just the beginning but hopefully this mini-arc will let people settle into their characters before we get things really rolling. Remember, you've been around for probably a few weeks so you know the faces of whose with you, even if you haven't spoken much. You can have formed whatever friendships or working relationships you desire, it makes sense when you're sharing in the frontier experience! Or the boredom, or the pain of training ad nauseum for battle that never comes...
Chaos Chimera - Was it you, Hailfire and Drachen back in the guardhouse focusing on your game a bit too much there?
Hailfire: It wasn't your job to monitor the calls that day was it? Maybe you were just trying to keep the others company, shame on them.
Azhrarn - You are probably one of the newest, but you too have been working with these others. It's clear a few aren't exactly new at this, though they may be lower on the hierarchy then the other officers.
Gear: You... have a new friend. He doesn't seem like he's going to eat you or anything but you definitely have something you didn't have before the start of this mission.
Just suggestions! but really, get a dialogue going, get to know eachother and have fun, because things will blow up soon. Gene smiling, it's a sign of doom.

"G-geez, old man, if you wanna go into retirement, there're better places than to do it out here!" the younger reploid growled, raising one of the shield pods to help cover Chaos' side, returning fire with his other buster-equipped shield to pin enemies down.
"Like I've tried to say before i'm not that old. I don't exactly get why your calling me old all the time." Chaos said still trying to figure out the cause for these old comments.
"Head for the base, I've got you covered!"
A couple of the goons neared Chaos as he headed towards the base. Not wanting to rely solely on Gear he lunged forward shoving the energy blades on his good arm into one of them. As he did so he turned and released the lock on his "hammer" allowing it to slam into the side of the other's head before pulling back and smashing in the chest.
"Not bad for an old man!" Goat scoffed. as the two goons fell away.
"Hailfire, we're coming in, Chaos, if you would be so kind as to escort me?" She beamed, though as everyone already knew, that was never a good sign.
Chaos sighed at the request before turning around and returning to Gene's side. "Let's get going." he said with a huff from Goat as they started to lead Gene towards the building. He wasn't sure why he had been chosen instead of Gear- with a damaged arm what good could he be to help protect her, plus he was closer to the base than Gear, who had chosen to lay down cover. However thanks to the way gear talked of being a guinea pig, Chaos didn't want to disappoint the crazy scientist. He had been toyed with enough in his life, and though he couldn't think of anything worse than Goat, for some reason Gene probably could.
This time returning towards the base was much easier, Goat's horns glowed lightly as they projected the image of a good arm over the exposed mechanical parts. If an enemy was able to see the weak point no doubt they would aim for it . "We need to talk about this whole using me for camouflage. I'm perfectly capable of laying down some hurt." Goat said being happy about that hole he had put into the enemies chest before being called to escort Gene.

"This is Azhrarn and Einhorn... we're going to come as well to offer support."
"Hailfire, be careful, we don't want too much collateral damage."
“Right, right... I mean, roger that.” she replied, correcting herself, “I'll lay off the fire. If the place burns down it wasn't because of me.” The icy head swiveled around, looking down the hallway and towards the room that the violet dragon just came from. It considered the corpse that still burned—it took a while for that sticky napalm to burn itself out, and the sprinkler system wasn't having much of an effect—and deemed it to be enough of a hazard that needed attention. Calculating the distance, it fired a blob of semi-frozen liquid that landed directly on the flames and put it out, freezing it solid and causing small icy spikes to grow as well. That ice would melt away eventually, but it kept the fire in check at least. The head then gave a loud metallic snort towards its fiery 'brother', as if expressing distaste.
“You—“ Hailfire started as she tapped the fiery head on the nose with the back of her hand, “—are on bitey duty. No hot sauce unless I say so.” Its burning horns seemed to lessen as if it was bummed about this, but the flames quickly returned to normal. It would obey, and only by Hailfire assuming direct control would it let loose its flames.
"Hailfire, we're coming in, Chaos, if you would be so kind as to escort me?" She heard Gene speak once more and Hailfire could almost feel that smile of hers. What a chipper girl; she couldn't help but put on a toothy smile as well. That attitude was dangerously contagious.
“I'm on the second floor. Let's get this party started.” Then again, the 'party' had started nearly thirty minutes ago. Bodies dressed in white labcoats lined the corridor and the thick stench of blood—mostly human blood, her sensors told her—as well as the white walls being practically painted with the stuff was evident. She opened up communications once more. “I—shit!” There was the brief sound of gunfire before Hailfire ducked behind a corner and cut communications. Her dramatic entrance hadn't gone unnoticed apparently.
Wary of looking around the corner with her one good eye, Hailfire instead had the fire head take a quick peek. It was hard to explain how the two extra heads' vision worked. She didn't receive any extra visual input from them, but she did understand what they saw. And she understood there was a pair of hostiles, their locations, and that neither of them seemed to be doing much other than “shoot first, ask questions later”. The ice head peered around the corner and let loose a few quick blasts of liquid, freezing a couple of spots on the floor and one of the guns to its owner's hands. He frantically tried to wipe off the liquid before it completely set. Hailfire used this time to charge towards them, makeshift spear ready. The tail that remained attached to her body wiggled around loosely, the inner cables unable to control it properly and give it its smooth, snakelike movements. The other mercenary took a couple of steps to steady his aim.. and slipped on one of the icy patches. The spear made short work of him, pinning him to the floor for the moment. The other almost had his gun free when the fiery head suddenly clamped down on his neck and severing important fluid lines, ending his struggles.
As if nothing was amiss, Hailfire pulled the spear up from the ground and resumed open communications. “Well, that was rude. Anyway, shall I hunker down here and wait for everyone to catch up, or meet elsewhere?”

She stared at the smoldering remains of the thug, completely destroyed by Azhrarn's blades. One of her brows had raised behind her visor and she couldn't help the awkward way her lips skewed as the parts seemed to fall even further into disarray on their own.
"Uh..."
"Y-yeah?"
"...thanks Ein..."
The silence lengthened for a moment as she turned to face Azhrarn with an awkward smile. It was indeed overkill, though they weren't in danger anymore. But the extent was impressive enough on it's own merit to make her wonder if he had been some sort of assassin before joining them.
"Do you think we should move in through that entrance?"
"Ummm... what?" She took a moment to gather her thoughts, having turned back to face the wreckage.
"Azhrarn and Ein as well, we had found an entrance..."
"Oh! Yes... we should probably head in with the others now." She sounded still a bit focused, but after pulling herself away from the sight she followed Azhrarn toward the door.
"Well, it was an exit point for enemy forces, but I suppose we can enter as well from there...any order?"
"Gene, this is not the time for your creepy idea of a present! Argh..."
"It wasn't for you Arclight..." She reached out and caressed his cheek casually, after letting her rifle again return into the void of cyberspace. The armor seemed to purr at the touch, giving Gear an odd sensation he was somehow out of the loop in the conversation between DNA-metal and insane scientist.
"Well, alright, new plan. Go get her royal craziness and we can shove on with this venture."
"Let's get going."
"Why thank you... you're such a gentleman Chaos." She smiled, making sure she was flanked by either of her squad before the two bit-bots hovered back, passing behind them to take their position in the rear. Neither were completely expendable, though they had proven their ability to take quite aof a beating.
"We need to talk about this whole using me for camouflage. I'm perfectly capable of laying down some hurt."
"I'm amenable to discussing your ability to cause havoc. Especially since I'm fairly certain if this is correct..." She held up her tablet for everyone to see, the approaching Azhrarn and Einhorn as well.
The building was laid out with three floors, a purple blip for Hailfire was toward the center of the second, moving into the right wing. But there were plenty of other points on the map signalling who was wandering the halls. But the contents of the rooms were obscured somehow. Two of the blips moved toward Hailfire and were soon snuffed out.
"Well, that was rude. Anyway, shall I hunker down here and wait for everyone to catch up, or meet elsewhere?”
"We'll be there momentarily... but there's something strange going on in the right wing, can you meet us there? We'll be taking the stairs up. It appears no one is here to greet us. Would that have been your efforts in luring them back upstairs to play? Pity... could have been some decent data there..." Gene sighed with a smile drawn across her duplicitous face.
Once upstairs the sounds of thuggary lessened, instead an eerie silence that echoed their footfalls became a constant companion, leading even Gene to think perhaps someone was following them. After meeting up with Hailfire, she took the time to start analyzing the tail damage. "It'll live, though you may have a kink in it..." She sighed, standing back up and holding up her tablet. Every locked room was missing from her scans. She could see every door with a red line glowing across the top, multiple doors... One of them had to have survivors, they looked sturdy enough to hold out against weapons fire...
In the dark, blood trails lead to one in particular in the corner...
Einhorn looked around, not noticing the trail but something else. For a desert town, it wasn't common to see what appeared to be snowflakes falling from the window. The entire structure itself seemed to be losing a degree every few minutes. Something was going on and the eerie quiet now seemed less preferable to the gunfire and explosions moments before.
"Guys... err.... guys, girls and thing." She didn't know what to call NN persay. "I have a bad feeling about this."
"You have a bad feeling about everything Einhorn. It's nothing new..."
"No. I have a really -bad- feeling about something..."
"Then remember to show the proper degree of surprise when it shows up." Gene grinned, focused on her tablet again, sliding her fingers over the surface in seeming indifference as she wrote a note back to the base, one that would be picked up whoever was in her offices.
Still alive here, it's going well. Nini is enjoying his first day with playmates. I look forward to sharing my results when I return-
She stopped, looked up from her personal e-mail as Hickory and Dickory hovered behind her.
-Orders Gene Replete-
"Go find out what's making it snow..."
-Confirmed- Both bitbots hovered up along the stairs, taking themselves up another floor, heading toward the roof.
BATTLE None of the staff are still alive it seems after you enter. And looking around the place seems to be sacked. There's evidence of a struggle, meaning the engineers were not expecting this to happen, and fought tooth and nail to stop it. The trails of destruction lead upstairs but most of the fighting appears to have taken place on the first floor.
The second is where you'l find Zweiton, and there's something else going on... Who is leading these men? And why haven't you seen any evidence of a leader? Something is very very wrong here...
Follow the blood trail if you see it, or check the other doors. There could be interesting things left behind, possibly weapons...
Azhrarn - Straightforward, look around, you won't encounter any fights unless you open perhaps the wrong door. Enemies at your discretion, but you may also find an available weapon.
Chaos - Take some time to look over your arm perhaps, check on your old comrade Hailfire. There's too much quiet here and from your years of experience, that usually means a trap.
Hailfire - After getting a quick but not very extensive repair, it's time to look behind locked doors, break them down if you can, or use your brains... hehe... just break things down already, there could be people still inside!
Gear - NN senses life forms, behind the bloody door to the south. He wants to go and possibly eat them, not knowing any better but he also can pick up signs of larger people behind the other doors. One of them may have a snake Mutos reploid behind the door.

"Guys... err.... guys, girls and thing."

"You have a bad feeling about everything Einhorn. It's nothing new..."
"No. I have a really -bad- feeling about something..."
"Then remember to show the proper degree of surprise when it shows up."
Azhrarn couldn't help to make a sort of worried face listening to the exchanges between Einhorn and Gene. The Bot-girl did looked overworried, her awkward smile before making him feel she was scared of him too, but at the same time the Doctor seemed to be a little too happy-go-lucky for his tastes. And she did noticed the snowflake-like crystals falling from the windows. If Gene was able to keep calm about this, she had either circuits of steel or some serious issues in the Logic-Emotional components of her brain.
Even if given what everyone else in the team seemed to say about her, he felt it was the latter case...
Nonetheless it was pointless to stay there and wait for whatever was causing the snow to be found by the bit-bots. To be truly honest, he was somewhat worried about no more thugs coming out from the labs. It felt weird that the few ones they had more or less easily dispatched could've taken down the place's security and do their biddings in such a small number. With a glance he noticed some familiar symbolism on crates near a door, something related to companies providing supplies to his parents' activity as well.
Curiousity started to kick in...
"Guys, I'm going to give look over there, tell you in the comm if I find anything interesting, lemme know if you do instead..." He stopped, looking to Einhorn with a curious expression and wondering a little before making up his resolve. "...care to come with me Ein?" He proposed, to the girl-bot, her answer was going to show up if she was really feared him after that overkill performance and if that wasn't the case, company was better than being alone in case of an ambush. "Will'o'Wisps from two to four, dock on. Unit One, Pattern: Tiki." He whispered quietly as three of the blue glowing orbs re-docked upon his armor and the other stopped orbiting around him and started to float above his right shoulder, glowing a little more and acting like a light source.
Moved by curiousity he walked toward the door, opening it and looking inside before stepping in. The room had few cardbox with the same familiar symbolisms, it looked a store-room and yet it felt weird that many of the crates were actually outside. Maybe they were doing a storage check of something like that. Nonetheless the presence of some familiar tools in a corner confirmed his suspects. For whatever reason they were getting ready to conduct an archeological expedition. The surprise about this revelation made him pretty much fail to notice about the strange sounds coming from the ground, sounds that made it feel slighty unstable. He had walked on similar grounds and by instincts knew that they could hold his ground...
...totally forgetting that it had always happened with him not wearing his armor...
"So coming or not Ein?" He called back for his comrade. "Found something funny here, worth exploring more I'd say..."

"Like I've tried to say before i'm not that old. I don't exactly get why your calling me old all the time."
"Wait, you're not?" Gear asked, genuinely looking at Chaos in genuine surprise. "But you were talking about the ride not being good on your joints and all that. Usually that's a comment old reploids make... I'm talking older than old, even." he added, although the momentary distraction nearly knocked him off-balance as a powerful charged shot hit his shield and flinched him. "Kh! Wait your turn!" he shouted, activating his own charged attack before he aimed out with Grabacr. Rather than a torrent of small buster shots, a series of five lancing beam blasts shot out threatening to cleave their way through their target, who moved behind cover to avoid death.
With a temporary lull in combat, he and the others managed to make their way toward the entrance. With Gene nearby, at least they would finally get somewhere. But first, there was still the matter of how she felt she needed to address him... Or rather, the entity with him.
"It wasn't for you Arclight..."
"Eh? Uh, Gene, you're being creepy again..." Gear trailed off, watching her reach forward and caress his cheek playfully. Much to his surprise, he could hear the armor react without his content, before his eyes narrowed. "Oh, great, you can make him speak even when he's bound to me like this. I don't even want to know about the exchange you and him are having..." he groaned, wanting to hang his head if it weren't for the fact Nid absolutely refused the movement.
"We need to talk about this whole using me for camouflage. I'm perfectly capable of laying down some hurt."
"I'm amenable to discussing your ability to cause havoc. Especially since I'm fairly certain if this is correct..."
"Decline, old man. Trust me, it's for your own good." Gear spoke up from behind the group, bringing up the rear guard as he turned around and made sure to keep his attention on the entrance to make sure no one was following them. With their advance into the structure, it seemed as if no one was going after them for some time... He wondered why. Was there nothing left in here?
Or was something worse waiting for them?
They were thoughts he himself didn't dwell on for long, since they still had a destination in mind. Eventually they would meet up with Hailfire, who looked ALOT worse for wear than what he saw her leave the truck like. "Good god woman, what the hell happened to you? We were only separated for about ten minutes and now you look like the star of an old war flick." he pointed out with the most blunt honesty he could afford. A missing eye, some buster wounds here and there, and a missing tail she repurposed to be a spear. There wasn't anything more that he could say, only that he felt simultaneous fear and respect for the Mutos Reploid, for he couldn't incur such injuries and shrug them off like that. At least he wasn't sure if he could.
For now, they had their current issue at hand... A long corridor of seemingly locked doors. It looked entirely too silly for him to put any ounce of seriousness in it. However, even from where he stood, his augmented eyes and senses could see the blood around the farthesr door in a corner. Looking back toward Hailfire, he shuddered slightly before looking forward. "Yeah, I think she's taken enough damage. Time to take one for the team..." he mused, as he began to move forward.
"Food no worry, me got this."
"Gee, how comforting."
Moving down the hall, he noted the two reploids that were around him before when he was facedown on the ground were now looking to go investigate one room. He couldn't help but smirk in amusement, fraternization out in the field at its finest. Far be it from him to report it, the sight simply amused him. Raising Ofnir at the ready, he left Grabacr passively at his side, before stopping. "There're so many doors here... And so many have something to hide behind them. This is your doing, right Nid?'
'Mmm... Me smell things behind bloody door. But... Me smell bigger things in opposite door. Me check opposite door.'
Thinking about the fact the blood splatters seemed to be coming from the door Nid opted out of checking, Gear felt a small sigh of relief. 'Yeah, I think that was a good call.'
Putting his worries aside for a moment, Gear proceeded down the corridor, the highlights on his armor beginning to light up in a semi-bright green the darker it got, giving him his own source of light for a moment. Moving toward the door Nid wished to investigate, he pulled Ofnir back and sent it forward, the piledriver tip smashing into, and utterly demolishing, the door and its holding structure. Once it fell to the floor with a crash, the silence disturbed, he stepped inside to examine the 'big' source Nid felt...

[17:15 Eichel Engineering: Second Floor] OST - Whisper of Relics - Rockman ZX Advent
"Guys, I'm going to give look over there, tell you in the comm if I find anything interesting, lemme know if you do instead..."
"Hmmm? yes... please do look around. There could still be someone waiting to ambush us. It would be nice to get a few more logged fights before heading back." Gene spoke with a cat's grin.
"...care to come with me Ein?"
"I think it might be best to stick together but... not going to let you wander off alone here. Not when..." She started to mutter under her breath, still a bit in shock. "Not when you can just cut things in half, casually..."
"Will'o'Wisps from two to four, dock on. Unit One, Pattern: Tiki."
She started to stumble after him as he took one of the far doors, following Gene's orders to find the survivors that must still be in the facility. The flaring lights from the wisps caught her already short attention span and she stopped in her tracks, wide-eying one of them. It was almost pretty, like a giant firefly. As he went toward the door she took up the rear, holding up her buster to shoot at anything suspicious she found.
But all there were, were crates. Nothing strange. The room was dark enough it was hard to read the labels but it was clear they contained supplies for the engineers. Nothing looked more exciting than an unknown tool to her, and her lack of attention in basic energy smithing had earned her a few chuckles from the easy going Seele, but also an apologetic smile as she was handed a tablet displaying her completion of the course.
Some older pieces, rough dusty machines, or dirt caked. Was this some sort of antique collection? She hadn't seen so many relics since her visit to Wolff's office the first time. The man was a serious collector and he had a way of eyeing anyone who seemed to take an interest in his things. Don't touch... anything... I remember that. Maybe here that's also the case. I don't want to trigger any ancient booby traps...
The extent of damage to the room was evident though as she saw the fighting from below had made holes in the floor itself. An access chute that lead someone was hanging by one wire in the far corner. As Azhrarn spoke, he was still looking up at the artifacts themselves, not seeing what she did as her eyes suddenly burst wide and she found her throat seize up instead of warning him.
"So coming or not Ein? Found something funny here, worth exploring more I'd say..."
Within moments the floor gave way, dropping Azhrarn down not only one floor, but two, then a third. It was the broken access way into whatever layer of strata some of the scientists had been inspecting earlier that day. Dust swept up, and complete darkness followed as his body landed in a loamy pool of water. Darkness, but with his arrival dim work lights flickering to life. All around him the husk of an even older building, and signs of warfare.
"I... was going to say, watch your step!" She shouted, looking down the gaping hole he had made in the floor, seeing where he landed. "I can find a ladder, a rope or something! I'll get help! There's gotta be something in this room."
It hung in the air, a presence of cold, indisputable loneliness. And it cast patterns of light on the wall like reflecting water. It was also acutely aware that someone had stumbled into it's grave.

"As you can see... they left a fair amount of gear here. Wonder what they were even after in the first place..." Gene pondered, her lips drawn in her regular, unaffected smile. She could be walking through a mine field with a basket of posies for all it mattered. There was simply no room for fear in the woman when the excitement of discovery outweighted everything else.
I hope he was ready for this. I worry... Was it the right thing to bring him out this time? He's never fed like this before. I... Don't take him back Gene, he's a big boy now. See? He already made friends with his emergency rations.
She laughed a little though it would appear completely random to those around her. Her tablet was picking up more readings but something about the sudden shift in cold was affecting her sensors. It shouldn't have even been possible for that to occur. Cold amplifies the signal right? But it's being... refracted? Her eyes widened, the smile gone for a telltale moment as she hid the tablet and the others moved past. Quickly she regained her composure, brushing off her uniform, the dress in immaculate condition, unlike everyone else's garb.
"Yeah, I think she's taken enough damage. Time to take one for the team..."
"You are quite the gentleman Arclight..." She caressed her cheek, letting her fingertips weave in pale white tresses. She couldn't help the grin that came from Nightmare Nidhoggr's new assessment of Gear's title. "I think the rest of us can check around here, see what's still locked behind doors..."
"Food no worry, me got this."
Make me proud...
"Gee, how comforting."
- - - - - - -
"There're so many doors here... And so many have something to hide behind them. This is your doing, right Nid?'
'Mmm... Me smell things behind bloody door. But... Me smell bigger things in opposite door. Me check opposite door.'
Gene noticed as Nini avoided the blood, finally taking note of it herself as he lead his host toward what would have been sensed not as a survivor, but a greater source of energy itself.
'Yeah, I think that was a good call.'
[ WARNING ]
The looter turned, facing his would be captor with a startled grunt. The reptilian Mutos immediately pointed at Gear, his tongue hissing his reply at being suddenly discovered. "Well looks like we have some decent folk here to clean up." He slithered rapidly toward one side of the room, it's size comperable to that of a small basketball court. A few boxes laid packed and there were two more grunts like the one's they'd seen down below. The Snake-roid ushered them out through a door in the back before returning it's gaze to Gear, grinning at the fact he had spent those few moments ignoring him.
"Oh I'm sorry... were you trying to stop that? Well... you can't. You really shoud have been here when they needed you. Now all you can do is save a few measly boxes..." He hissed his laugh, then turned his serpentine body, whipping an empty crate toward Gear with considerable force. "Everyone's dead... or boxed up. Nothing personal towards you!" He grinned, his mechanical eyes whirring as the second lids closed, illuminating the entire ocular structures with red light. "Time for me to waste even more of your day before I kill you. Thanks for giving me something to do while the rest of your friends meet the rest of -my- friends..."
"Again, nothing personal~" he chimed in a completely irreverant tune, aiming his buster toward Gear again, launching a homing missile kited by a slithering green energy trail.
NOTES You are all on the second floor, with the exception of Azharn who has taken a detour to beneath the basement itself.
Zweiton is still behind the bloody door, but until someone frees the poor soul he shall remain there, in terror of the sounds going on outside. The sudden appearance of a ringleader reploid, the snake mutos may either be a good or bad sign. But the frost forming on the windows is clearly not his doing, nor the crystal patterns forming down beneath them, crawling onto the floors themselves. If there -was- any organic life left in the building, it wouldn't be surviving it much longer... and perhaps, that's the point...
Follow the blood trail if you see it, or check the other doors. There could be interesting things left behind, possibly weapons...
Azhrarn - You appear to be inside a ruined command center from yester-year. There are rusted hulks of older machine life, but what draws your attention is a floating sphere of light, hovering above one of the bodies...
Chaos - Take some time to look over your arm perhaps, check on your old comrade Hailfire. You've had enough experience to know someone is setting up a trap... but will you have enough time to finish your search before having to escape?
Hailfire - After getting a quick but not very extensive repair to make sure your... stump is alright, it's time to look behind locked doors, break them down if you can, or use your brains... hehe... just break things down already, there could be people still inside!
Gear - You picked the door with the prize inside clearly. And it's thrown a box at you and shot without provocation. Clearly this means you've found the prize at the bottom of the box and can get to ruining it already. Remember, NN is more eager and has less impulse control than Gear...

"Hmmm? yes... please do look around. There could still be someone waiting to ambush us. It would be nice to get a few more logged fights before heading back."
"Now I feel this may not be a good idea..." Azhrarn whispered, but at the same time it gave him a chance about being able to not look at how bad Hydra had been messed up. True, Reploid and their Mutos cousins were easier to repair than humans, but at the same time the already scary draconic creature had become even scarier by sheer amount of damage sustained. The Knight Reploid felt extremely relieved he hadn't to face the enemies that the Mutos had.
And scared by the thought that someday he was going to be forced to...
"I think it might be best to stick together but... not going to let you wander off alone here. Not when..."
"Not when you can just cut things in half, casually..."
"Said something?" Azhrarn said, his receptor unable to catch the last bit of her words due how low she muttered them. "I appreciate the company anyway..." The knight said with a sincere expression before leading on. moved by his own curiousity. He was anyway being distracted by scenes coming from his past life, the one he had before enlisting, where he was a more pacifist being who liked to study civilizations of the past. The room was filled by such items, recovery tools, excavations ones, ropes and cleaning products. He had even seen a hypersonic scanner placed against the wall in a corner. He was so taken by such things that he failed to notice what Ein had been unable to warn him about...
The way he fell down was about cartoon-esque with Will'o'Wisps Unit-1 obviously not needing any sort of support when floating, unlike its Master. The small orb of blue light kept floating in the middle of the room as the Knight Reploid fell through a first floor, then a second and finally a third, going through each one on a way definetely less graceful than what Azhrarn had wished for until he landed in what seemed to be a pool of water. Skillfully enough to not get much too much damage on the fall but at the same time not completely undamaged by the event and definetely neither elegantly or gracefully. The splashing sound could be heard through the three floors and right after it reached Ein's ears, the Will'o'Wisp started to move to its Master current location, slowly floating down through the hole like nothing had happened.
"I... was going to say, watch your step!"
"The timing wasn't the best, but the concern is greatly appreciated..." Azhrarn said her through the communicator network. There was something around that made him not wanting to shout back to her, something that reminded him of the ancient places he visited working with his parents. Places of old were the remains of ancient civlizations waited in slumber for people to discover their history.
"I can find a ladder, a rope or something! I'll get help! There's gotta be something in this room."
"I've seen some polycarbonate ropes in the corner, if they hadn't fell together with me..." Azhrarn replied quietly. "...maybe some extendable ladders too. I saw a crater with the Alpstech label on it and they're pretty famous between archeologists for their climbing equipments. Hopefully..." He turned to look around, going silent for a bit as the Will'o'Wisps had finally reached for him and its faint light allowed him to see better where he had landed. "...hopefully you can get down here, because trust me, this is a sight to behold..." The Knight Reploid replied almost in a whisper, thankful for the communicator devices.
The laboratories apparently had been built over something older, something belonging to a different era. Humidity had took it's toll over the structures, scraping the paint that had been used to draw numbers and letters on various part of the underground building and rust had turned anything once made of metal into scraps of a reddish-orange material. Flickering lights came to life, seeming to wanting to welcome the first visitor in a long, long, time and revealing what appeared to be a warzone scenery. Something that made their struggle outside look nothing more than child play.
"Yes, you should really come to see..."
There had been nothing short of a war down here, the rusted remains of Reploid Soldiers, the white bones mixed with metallic parts of cyborg augmented humans and the wrecks of armored suits were all around him. Some of them more or less a whole piece, others scattered and dismembered. Holes had been carved in the walls were bullets had charged in full force, craters on the ground where artillery had hit. Walking around he stepped upon the remains of some weapons of the past as well, the ruined items crumbling under the weight of his armor.
"Eh, we forget our history, but never forget how to kill each other dreams and hopes..." The black armored Reploid whispered in the comm. "They fought something big here, bigger than anything I heard or read of." The equipments they saw above made sense now, for some reason, someone at the lab wanted to reach this place and dig out its secret, its story. "I wonder what was so important to justify this carnage and the people at the labs wanting to come back and search for it again..."
Then he felt it clearly. The same feeling that prevented him from shouting back to Ein choosing to rely on the communicator instead. It was a presence, one that seemed to emanate sadness and loneliness, one that seemed to be distant, away from reality's grasp. Proving wrong whoever said that machines had no feelings or emotions, Azhrarn relied on such things to look around, letting his instincts to lead his eyes upon a strange glowing orb of light. It wasn't natural and yet didn't came from the faulty and discontinued artificial systems that seemed to provide the area some sort of illumination. It felt strange, as if the orb was a conglomerate of feeling, none of them exactly pleasant to bear.
"I think I found something really strange..." He sent to his partner three floors upward as he slowly moved to reach close.
Upon reaching it, Azhrarn went suddenly silent. The sphere of light was floating above what once had been a Knight Reploid, his's armor not as fancy as Azhrarn's black one but still different compared to the more pratical war-made ones he saw on the other dead bodies. "Father, mother, I do wonder if someone would find me like this someday..." The black armored one couldn't help to ask himself. "...or how many lives I'll end like this. It's not fair." He felt unfair to all the other victims, but he couldn't help to relate himself more to this single knight than to the hundred of other soldiers. "Mother said that Knights bring dreams with them..." He spoke, almost in a whisper, looking to the lifeless figure. "...which ones made you choose to join this war?" The black armored reploid shook his head, returning his eyes upon the glowing orb. "And you?" He inquired, instinctively feeling he was talking to another sentient being, so strong the feelings coming from it were flowing inside him. "What are you, a Ghost like the ones from the Fairy Tales my parents used to tell me?"
"Ein, come fast..." He whispered gently in the communicator. "...it's soo lonely to look at the future all alone..."

"We'll be there momentarily... but there's something strange going on in the right wing, can you meet us there? We'll be taking the stairs up. It appears no one is here to greet us. Would that have been your efforts in luring them back upstairs to play? Pity... could have been some decent data there..."
“Aw, I couldn't help that they wanted to throw a little welcoming party for me! You'll have plenty of chances for data. I'm on my way.”
~~
“You're a sight for sore eyes!” Hailfire said cheerfully once the others were in view. Knowing her, the pun was completely intentional. Unlike the rest of her time in the building the walk over to the right wing had been uneventful.
"It'll live, though you may have a kink in it..."
Hailfire snorted. “Kinks or no, as long as it's not going to affect use once I get it reattached I'm perfectly okay with it.” Gear's reaction to her current condition simply made her laugh in reply. As much as she seemed to shrug off injuries, they still hurt like hell. Hailfire couldn't keep on truckin' like this for too much longer, as even she needed a break from battle. It might be a smarter idea to lay low for a while so basic autorepair can handle the small stuff.
The chill in the air energized her, a refreshing change from the blistering heat of the area. But Hailfire knew it wasn't natural; maybe it was because she was also an Ice-type Mutos too, if only half one. She narrowed her eyes at the snowflakes falling just outside the window. Obviously, something was going on and the answers lie elsewhere. The roof, perhaps?
However, the blood trail caught her attention for the moment. That was human blood leading to one of the doors in the hallway, and decently fresh too it looked like. She'd just told herself she would lay low, but they might be in need of some assistance. Or it could be another goon. Survivors were a priority, and human survivors were an even greater priority to her. Her break would just have to wait.
Hailfire followed the trail to the door it led to and gave a little jiggle of the handle. Locked, of course. While she could probably just rip the door off its handles with ease, it could give whoever's on the other side a heart attack and put them on the offensive. She instead positioned the tip of the spear right where the deadbolt should be and gave a quick jab. The blade easily tore through the bolt, 'unlocking' the door. Hailfire grabbed the handle once more, and slowly opened the door.
“Hailfire Hydra with the Hunters~”
~~~~~
More awful screams, more roaring, and then silence for a while. But the sounds returned, telling that there were still people in the building. Whether they were friend or foe, Zweiton was honestly too terrified to find out. The voices were close, and he strained, leaning forward to be able to hear anything that was being said. The thickness of the walls prevented this however, so he sunk back behind the table.
thunk. thunk. THUNK. Then the sound of a reploid, much heavier than those that had run by his hiding spot, had decided to stop in front of the door. The handle jiggled a little. There was a short pause before the screech of metal-on-metal as a pointed blade cut through the deadbolt keeping the door locked. Zweiton fumbled with the gun in surprise, biting his lip to keep it from being known by this mysterious other party. When he finally regained control the gun was facing the wrong way, and he quickly turned it back around before he shot himself by accident. Everything seemed to slow down when Zweiton realized it was now or never. Do or die. And he would if it meant protecting his creator from these bastards.
Zweiton took the safety off just as the door opened wide.
“Go to hell!” He roared, opening fire with the plasma pistol.
~~~~~
Sure, Hailfire figured she had a 50/50 chance of being attacked. Some shots connected, but most went wide or went into the membranes of her wings. One shot however hit the fire head squarely, twisting it at an odd angle and causing it to stick, the mechanisms damaged from the blast. Any attempts by it to move only caused it whirr loudly. But Hailfire had to hand it to him, he had better aim than most of the mooks she had ran into here. Too bad not managing to off her for good would be his last, fatal mistake.
Dropping the tail-made-spear Hailfire leapt forward, backhanding the pistol out of his hand and grabbing his shirt with her other hand and lifting him up. Shirt? No, this was no mere mook, this was a civilian, a survivor! All three heads reared back in surprise. His hands clawed at her own; Hailfire noted he was completely unarmored, dressed in simple white clothing, and completely unlike the reploids the Hunters had run into. They had actually managed to find one human alive in this mess.
No... something was off. The chill in the air was enough to freeze a human's breath and make them shiver. This one was doing neither, and all that heavy breathing while he was struggling should have given him the impression of a steam train. A switch to thermal confirmed it; this was no human, and the eerie ability to pass for one so easily ruled out reploid as well.
“What the hell are you..” Hailfire hissed. It was a demand, not a question. The other two heads leaned forward and he grew visibly uncomfortable.
“A-a-android,” He stammered out. “Are you going to kill me or what?”
“Possibly, if you had something to do with that old man's death.” Hailfire made a motion with her main head and looked at something over his shoulder; a bloody body, propped up against the wall.
“Old man? You mean Dr. Eichel?” The android squirmed in her grasp to glance behind him, tearing his shirt on her claws. “He's my creator, I dragged him here when everything hit the fan. He's still alive, I--” He seemed to notice the look on her face.
Hailfire sighed. Words weren't her strong suit, and even if it had been there was no easy way for her to break this. “I'm afraid he's dead.”
“He.. He's alive and needs medical attention!”
“I can sense heat, and he has no body temperature. I'm sorry.” She set him down gently, though the grip on his shirt remained. He tried to pull away, towards the body, but Hailfire simply tugged him towards the open door. “Got us a lively one here! Says he's an android. I've never heard of such a thing but then again, they never did let us know what went on here, now did they?” It was as if Hailfire could switch between somber and cheerful at the flick of a switch. Hold up, was someone fighting?

Chaos wasn't sure who he wanted to go with. The area was eerily quiet, and it didn't take his experience with security to realize that the silence was not a good thing. If he followed Hailfire who knows what they would find, of course the same thing could be said for backing up Gear.
After a short mental debate he decided following the trail of blood to a wounded individual seemed slightly safer to him. Not knowing what was behind the other door means risking his already damaged limb. Using her tail spear Hailfire had managed to pick the lock and opened the door. However they were greeted not with thanks but with gunfire. Luckily the shots managed to miss Chaos, potentially due to the state the individual was in
"What's the bright idea shooting at us, we announced who we were with." Chaos said angrily.
The individual had claimed to be an android, and that the blood belonged to Dr. Eichel, its creator. Though the Android seemed convinced that he was still alive and in need of medical attention Hailfire was adamant that this was not the case. Her heat detection skills were top notch, and Chaos had yet to meet someone who was better at it.
"I'm afraid Hailfire is more than likely correct, from what I've seen her thermal imaging abilitiess are top of the line. Honestly I've yet to meet anyone better." Chaos said as he looked around.
"I'm Chaos Chimera, how about you? What's your name?" He asked, Hailfire may of been uninterested n the identity of this individual but Chaos felt having a name would be more useful than stuff like 'hey you'.

[ WARNING ]
"You knew it was here, didn't you!?" Gear groaned, seemingly shouting at the Snake Mutos before him, but was instead holding the conversation with his armor... Who, if he weren't merged around Gear right now, would be looking at him with curious eyes.
"Food too scared, me pick room with no blood."
"B-but you picked one with an enemy in it! A powerful-looking one! Why not an empty room!?" he complained, giving the Snake Mutos more than enough time to get his comrades out of the room while he carried on his conversation with a seemingly invisible friend. At this point, it was impossible for him to look any more crazier than he already did, arguing with seemingly nothing before a powerful foe.
"Where fun in that?"
"... F... Fun...?" he asked, hanging his head in utter defeat as he realized he'd been led into battle on the whim of an entity who only wanted to fight and play, and less... Actually do his job. Gene had given him a hell of a present, to be sure.
"Oh I'm sorry... were you trying to stop that? Well... you can't. You really shoud have been here when they needed you. Now all you can do is save a few measly boxes..."
"You, shut up. Not talking to you right now." Gear quipped at the Mutos Reploid, before turning to the side. This was alot more annoying than it needed to be, trying to hold a scrutinizing gaze on Nid, but without him being there on his shoulder, or a mirror, it didn't... Seem as scrutinizing. "We need to work on your sense of communication Nid. I don't go looking for trouble because I want to live a nice, long service life! If you keep throwing me into situations like this, i'll probably get crankier than Chaos is!" he continued to grumble, once more losing sight of the Mutos until he decided to attack. The crate went flying at Gear, who casually raised his arm for the crate to smash against the arm shield, courtesy of Nid who had been paying attention at the time.
"Everyone's dead... or boxed up. Nothing personal towards you! Time for me to waste even more of your day before I kill you. Thanks for giving me something to do while the rest of your friends meet the rest of -my- friends..."
"Oh right, you're still a thing." Gear finally remembered the Snake Mutos who was still present, who now took aim at him with a specialized Arm Buster, launching a warhead with a green energy trail. A special weapon of some sort? Seemingly without his control, Gear's eyes focused on the projectile and began to look it over.
"Mmmm... Me can use that. Defeat enemy, get weapon, food."
"H-hey! Since when did you give the orders!? And stop taking control of my eyes!" the reploid grumbled, as he waited for the missle to get close enough before he dashed under it, hoping it wouldn't be a proximity explosive... Or worse, smart. Pulling his right arm back, the signs of a charging weapon could be seen for a few moments, before he aimed forward with Ofnir, firing a series of five straight-forward small lasers rather than a torrent of weak blasts. "My turn, scumbot! I dunno what you really did here, but it sounds creepy enough for me to put your metal ass in retirement where it belongs!"
