Again a small check for anyone who may be interested into joining a fantasy-ish RP run by me.
The setup is pretty simple, we'll have a small continent that had been isolated from the only other known one due to a big scale war ravaging the latter. Years passed and the few ships sent to check the outcome of the war hadn't returned. Isolated, the kingdoms in the continent continued to live their normal lives, have their power struggles and all that stuff at first without noticing that the climate was getting colder and colder as years passed. Summer and springs were become shorter on every cycle and as autumn didn't changed much the winters were becoming longer and longer.
By when the RP will start, it'll be clear to the scholars that the climate is going to drastically change for the cooler, and not in a good way. Something that will lead more events, that I wont reveal to not spoil things, to unfold.
A fair warning, the RP will focus all around the reactions of the various kingdom about the incoming long winter. You'll get action and all, but every decision the players will make is going to bring consequences and yeah, some kingdom may even fall due to these. Be warned also that I'm going to pay some small homages to Magic: the Gathering in this as the story is slightly inspired by a certain set.
Technical details:
We're going to have a revised version of your classical Fantasy races. Elves, Dwarves and Humans are going to be present as fully playable races. Merfolks are going to be in for plot reason, but due to the inherent limitations I may limit them to be playable as PCs only in certain episodes. We'll have Orks, Goblins and whatnot as well, but please contact me if you want to play something from their lots. (In some case you can, but in others nope. Mostly Goblins if anyone was thinking about them.) I may add a beast-kin race, somewhat similar to the beasts of Phantasy Star Portable (And I guess Universe too?) And if anyone is interested into anything specific, feel free to contact me and I'll work on details with them.
The RP is going to be somewhat Sandbox-ish as the plot will advance with the passing of time and beside a main 'story' (Focused on the human kingdoms) that will culminate with the last part of the RP the players will be involved with other apparently unrelated events. This will also help players to get back into games if had been inactive for a little.
We are obviously going to have magic and maybe some technological stuff powered by it. But better to give further details if the project will prove to have some people interested in it. About that I can work with either a small or larger cast, there shouldn't be issues anyway. I'm debating over how many characters to be allowed for each player. But that's secondary I think.
Well, guess that's all, feel free to let me known if there's something you'd like to discuss and to express your interest here.

This sounds awesome! You know I'm in This is just an interest post so far though since I haven't exactly got the time to think too hard about character ideas and such right now (and also I want to see more details of what you have in mind setting-wise)

Alrighty, first update being the world... (I will collect them all in the Sign-up thread if this thing should fly...)
The Continent of Sarphadia
Compared to what we're used isn't a big one. Somewhat slightly smaller than Canada, Sarphadia is made by a central body, two big islands and a small arcipelago. The two islands which are located north west and south west of the central landmass are respectively home of the Winter and Summer Elves, the arcipelago located south of the Continent had been once home to a colony that had been forced to flee the place. The climate is similar to middle-age europe, going from the mountain and forest covered northern part to a more mediterrean appearance on the southern one, with abundance of water bodies like rivers and lakes, many of them originating by the biggest river, known as Bluestream, wich is born from a peak in the north-east of the continent and reach the sea on the southern part of it, literally crossing the whole landmass. The mountains are concentrated in the northern area and, with the exception of Dragons' Cradle in the Autumn Elves' forest, are smaller and fewer the more one moves toward south.
The wildlife is pretty feral, with plently of traditional predators like wolves and bears and less conventional ones like wild Drakes, Wyverns, and supernaturally giant sized counterparts of smaller creatures like snakes, spiders and such. The seas are as well populated by dangerous creatures but since they doesn't usually reach for too close of the shores, they're an hindrance only for explorers, while being instead a benefit for the fishers as they scare the smaller fishes close to the coast.
Civilized settlements are many and diversified, going from the bigger fortified cities, known by the name of Dynas, to smaller agricultural settlements protected by a Caer, a small castle where the Feudal Lords reside. Many of the roads between one settlement and another are well-kept, with many inns and stables for a change of horses along them. The maintenance expenses are usually shared between the cities at each one of the ends of the road, as it's common knowledge to think that good roads will improve commerce and bring only benefits. The presence of dangerous wildlife also prevented the creations of kingdom or countries where a ruler governed multiple settlement, preferring to give each one of them indipendence but forming allegiances and confederations to help each other economically.
Settlement of Interest
The Five Cities: Which are technically 6, built on the central area of the continent, next to the course of Bluestream, these cities are considered the gemstone of human architecture and ingenuity. Tarcosis, Ardastia, Athrawin, Belghast and Wynfram are regular fortified cities who share a pat of mutual assistance, built right in the center between the five of them, the City of Esperia is instead a safe haven for thinkers and scholars, a place where the knowledge of the human kingdoms had been gathered to be preserved. The Five Cities are also unique for the fact that they maintain a series of defensive infrastructures next to them so to protect the farming settlement outside of their walls.
