Women and Men #90 I'm pretty sure I contributed to that result. Surprised to see Advise and Consent and Airport out of print, huge best sellers once upon a time. I've read a few Drury novels, A and C by far the best, a good Preminger movie made from it too.

I'm surprised The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles wasn't listed or mentioned by readers.

I'm with Elie, I love lists, some of my favorite books were culled from the lists of others. And since the 40s book list was inspired by a 40s movie list I'll post my favorite 40s movies from a list I compiled for a movie website. A bakers dozen (no Citizen Kane or Casablanca!) from an incredible decade.

The Shop Around the Corner - Lubitsch
Day of Wrath - Dreyer
The Third Man - Reed
Letter From an Unknown Woman - Ophuls
Shadow of a Doubt - Hitchcock
The Lady Eve - Sturges
His Girl Friday - Hawks
Meet Me in St. Louis - Minelli
My Darling Clementine - Ford
Stray Dog - Kurosawa
Monsieur Verdoux - Chaplin
Late Spring - Ozu
Out of the Past - Tourneur

That is an interesting list, added a couple to my wish list. I read Banffy's Trilogy a couple of years ago and loved it.

Some well known critics polled for the 21st Century's best novels published in English. I've only read four, but it seems a very conventional list, significant omissions for me would be Against the Day, and nothing in translation.

100 greatest British novels as chosen by English language critics outside the UK. Half of the critics were women and women writers dominate the top of the list and were 40% overall. One surprise is no Martin Amis novels in the top 100.

It's astonishing to me that The Evenings by Gerard Reve is not one of the 75 best translated of 2017. I checked the Amazon date - Jan 31 so it qualifies. I know Steven loved this too and several reviews I found thought it a masterpiece.
