This movie is intense, and if there are any of you who have seen it, let's talk about it. If you haven't seen it, then grow a pair and watch it. Don't watch it if you're a pussy though, there's lots of sex and drugs in it. Try to use the head on your shoulders when you watch it instead of the one between your legs, there's a point to this movie other than watching people fuck and smoke DMT.

That's actually what it says on the cover. I don't wanna give the whole movie away, but basically this kid is on mad psychedelics, goes to sell some shit to his friend but his friend rats him out and he ends up getting shot and dying. He pretty much has an out-of-body experience and roams around Tokyo (where he currently lives) watching the people that he knows, and is eventually reborn. I know it kinda sounds like a shitty movie from how I described it, but I just wanted to give as little away as possible. It's a kickass movie, probably one of the best I've seen in a long time. Even the filming of the movie itself is pure genius, it's shot from a first person perspective and it's so damn good that they even went as far to include his blinks. The whole movie is pretty much one big mindfuck, and you'll probably be confused until the very end. Pay close attention to their words when they talk, there isn't alot of dialogue but all of it is extremely important to the point of the film. |

Watched it yesterday after I saw this topic. I have mixed feelings about this film. On one hand some of the scenes were pure genius, and yet whenever the director felt like it the camera would zoom into a fucking fire or fluorescent light to switch scenes. That got old really fast. I couldn't watch the film with all the lights off in my room because those fucking abrasive-ass lights hurt my eyes. To be honest it seemed like the director was really pushing to see how long he could hold someone's attention for without them just leaving the theater. With that out of the way, I enjoyed how the director was able to form such an emotional connection Oscar for the first 45 minutes of the film by having the audience live through his eyes. Some people get nauseous with first-person perspective movies (my girlfriend, for example), and if you are one of these people I would definitely not recommend this movie. Or if you are susceptible to epileptic seizures. The music was also fantastic in the movie. You know the music is good if you never notice it. One thing I hate about a film are those emotionally manipulative soundtracks they play whenever something sad happens. Another thing I enjoyed was how a lot of things were left up to interpretation, especially regarding the relationship between Oscar and Linda. And now I know where Kanye got his inspiration from for "All of the Lights". |

Haha ya, we made some epileptic jokes when all that shit happened. And ya it does get annoying, but at the same time it builds suspense. You're pretty much left with your thumb up your ass if you don't know what's about to happen, because this movie is just so unpredictable and willing to break boundaries that you have no idea what you're about to see next. It does get old, but I thought it was a great idea regardless. |

How do you think this movie compares to "Requiem for a Dream"? |

I actually haven't seen that movie, but I've heard about it. I think Requiem has a better plot (going from what I've read), but there's no doubt in my mind that Enter The Void had better camera work. |

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the camera work in Requiem. Although Enter the Void was without a doubt more ambitious in its camera gimmicks, as I mentioned before, at times it detracted from the overall experience. This is not the case with Requiem. But if you are going to watch the movie with your mind made up already, I suppose I am wasting my time. Watch it and we'll discuss. |

i agree with this, and i've seen both a couple times now. requiem is definitely more of a depressathon to be honest, even though both are pretty sad. |
