So my lappy was running pretty nicely up until recently. Out of no where, the fan for my lappy was like, roaring. Even if I was on standby with no programs open. Around the same time, my processing speed pretty much went to shit (can't even watch youtube videos in normal resolution without it spiking a bit. Typingg in wordpad even lags sometimes.)

Just from google, my laptop's maximum core temp should be 71C given my model, but I hear that typical average should range 55-65.

So my lappy, after being on for about 10mins, is at 92C. If I leave it on for another hour it'll probably be around 104C or something ridic like that.

I plan on taking the thing apart tonight and cleaning out the fan but I still have questions.

1) Even after cleaning out my fan, is it even remotely likely that a dirty fan is responsible for a 40C influx?

2) Is it naive to believe that because my fan is running on superhigh all the time, that it's effecting my processing speed? Or is it my processor's fault that my fan is running on high/core temp being so high?

There's other questions stemming from that but those tend to be icebreakers in my thought process.

do you have 2 graphic cards in your laptop? I read that both can get turned on causing the temperature to rise due to both running.

Uninstall Rs
i c wut u did thar ^.~

Clean the CPU fan, if it still is running hot then you may need to apply new thermal paste on the CPU, you should probably look up guides on doing that rather than listening to me though if you need to.

Normally the thermal paste starts sucking after about 4-7 years though so its not likely to be the problem if its a newish laptop.

Alternatively you could buy a new (better) cpu fan and thermal paste altogether.

oh so i did this a few nights ago

cleaned fan

it helped? Core Temp says I'm sitting at 66C after an hour and a half of browsing.

But my processing speed is still just really poor. If the temp being as hot as it was, was the problem, I just feel like I acted too late on this and there might be some hardware damage now :/

You might wanna try to find a better cpu fan for your laptop, but that might come a bit expensive.

You can always get those coolingmat things also. It may not be a HUGE help, but it'll help the system to cool and thus cooling cpu too.

I don't know jackshit about laptiops, but 92c? My computer shuts down at like 80 though I can never reach those temperatures, and I'm quite sure my pc overpowers your laptop.

Sorry, this post wasn't much of help, but try the pad/mat whatever thing.

Lower my warn pls <3 Don't wanna be permabanned when I get to the worst poster list again.

If I were in your position, I'd take it to a professional, I'm sure there are a couple good ones by you. 100º is incredibly hot, do you have that on your lap?

lappies run hotter than a desktop from what I know.

100C was still ridiculous though.

But it's running at 55-65 now, pushes up to 72-73 when I'm doing a ton of shit at once, which is pretty normal from what I hear. Running high performance games on a lappy push it 85-90C, which is a little too hot, but not crazy.

Still concerned about how dropping the temp by 40C did pretty much nothing for my processing power.
