Former WA Delegate

What do I bring as Delegate?

  • Experience. While this nation is younger, I've been playing NationStates for about 3 years now, and I've contributed, through the Technical forum, to many of the upcoming changes to the game (along with helping out a few confused people).
  • Innovation. It was my idea to found this region in the first place, and I've continued to help changed and innovate this region.
  • World Assembly skills. I've been active in the WA forum for quite a while, and I've drafted and helped draft resolutions
  • Raiding and Defending skills. I've both been the target of a raid and I've been involved as a raider. I know how the R/D process works.
  • WA Delegate skills. I've (obviously) tons of experience as a WA Delegate, and that experience allows me to fill the position better than I otherwise could.
  • Dedication. I've sent many manual TGs, I've spent hours coding scripts, and far longer ejecting nations, banning nations, and doing all the things that need to be done to make this region work.
  • Programming skills. As you all saw, I made two scripts (well, one, but two outputs) to help during the apocalypse. As Delegate, I can utilize this skill far more effectively
  • HTML skills. A similar one, I created and have continued to edit the header box for this forum.
  • I was WA Delegate during both zombie apocalypses. I spent time (and sleep) at my computer to ensure that this region stayed alive and well.
  • I actively asked to reduce my own power two separate times. I've never used the powers of Delegate for my own benefit, and I never plan to.
  • I've passed one Act and will hopefully soon pass another

I'd like to use the powers of the WA delegate for good. I promise that I will always read in full all resolutions of the World Assembly before voting on them, and I promise that I will always be open to input and a debate on the resolutions, fully open to change my vote. The World Assembly is an important part of this world that affects all nations and regions, and it should not be taken lightly.

Secondly, I promise to further the status of this region. Through embassies and general aid to the inhabitants of this region, I promise that I will always stay an active and helpful member of the community, attempting to aid this region in any way that I can. I will work with the other ministers to help make this region strong and powerful. I've already coded a script that will automatically send recruitment telegrams, and I've sent my share of manual telegrams too. We'll continue to expand this region, making us even more influential within Nationstates. This goal will not be easy, but it can be accomplished.

Finally, I promise that if a majority of this region does not support any regional decision I have made, then I will rescind/reverse that decision. I'm not in this to be a dictator, and if my decision is unpopular I will be willing to rescind/reverse it, regardless of my personal opinion. Anyone that wishes to dispute a vote or decision I have made can feel free to post a poll on this forum, where people can vote and debate on the issue, and if within 1 day (Or less, if time requires) there is a majority against my decision, I will reverse it. On this note, I am always welcome to suggestions from the community, and I will act on any suggestions to the best of my ability. For more information about how to change my vote on a WA resolution, see this thread.

I've been committed to this region since the beginning. I suggested its creation, and I've worked through each challenge to help make it the region it is today. I've been playing this game for almost 3 years now, and I'm experienced in the WA (including the real life workings of the UN), gameplay, and the region itself.

With this in mind, I hope I have your vote for the World Assembly delegate, and I look forward to serving this region now and in the future.

Former WA Delegate
Now that I have a contender for the position of WA Delegate, I'd like to say a few things regarding what I've been doing so far as delegate, and what I plan to do in the future.

In terms of what I've been doing, I've been the WA Delegate in the region since the beginning. When the Constitution was made, I actively campaigned to limit my own powers, and to delegate the powers of making embassies to the Minister of Foreign Affairs rather than the WA Delegate, because while the game gives power to the delegate, the Minister of Foreign Affairs is the position that should be making such a call. As such, I hope you know that I will never abuse my powers as WA Delegate, and I will continue to help make this region great.

I've done many things in my time as WA Delegate. I spent hours making sure that this region was prepared for the zombie outbreak, helping the MoD to monitor nations and booting the ones that were exporting zombies. I was the one that suggested that we should establish a defensive pact with the Social Liberal Union, a process that was seen through to great success. I've managed embassies for this region since the beginning, setting up an embassy with Mordor and ensuring that the commands of the MoFA are carried out, expanding our embassy program and ensuring that our region stays active in world affairs.
Additionally, I spent a fair amount of time working to improve the offsite forums. I've made member groups, I was the creator of the top box, and I've made sure that the forums run smoothly, alongside the other administrators, who have also done an excellent job. I'll be taking a web design course next school year to learn more HTML, and I hope I can use that to continue to make the forum a better place.

I also have experience. I have been on Nationstates for a few years now, and I'm extremely active on the GA forum. I understand the workings of the World Assembly inside and out, including all of the rules and regulations regarding proposals. I've been active in critiquing proposals, and the WA is the aspect of this game that I'm most familiar with.
Whenever a proposal comes onto the floor, I always read it carefully and consider its implications before approving it and voting for it. With my policy of starting a thread on the offsite forums to explain my reasoning behind every vote, I hope to make sure that the process of using the powers of the WA Delegate is as transparent as possible. And, as always, I'd like to remind everyone that anyone can open a vote at any time to attempt to change my vote on an issue, and a simple majority is all it takes to change my vote.

Because of my experience and successful past so far as WA Delegate, I hope I can count on your endorsement. Remember, to endorse a member of the WA, all you need to do is visit their nation's page, scroll down to the bottom, and hit "Endorse _______"

I'm of course open to any questions or comments you may have, and I wish good luck to Astracarn as well.

I'd like to congratulate Astracarn on a well run campaign and on his assumption of the delegacy. However, I'd like to announce that I'm still in the race. Change can be good, and it's good that the region is changing delegates to experience what other delegates can offer. However, I believe that my great experience with the WA, my activity and commitment to the Versutian Federation, and my hard work that I've done to ensure that the power of the delegate is used appropriately makes me the best candidate for WA delegate.

So, please endorse The Black Hat Guy for WA Delegate!

I am once again delegate, and as such I'd like to remind people to read my campaign thread in its entirety - there's a lot of policy information there that should be seen. If you like what you see, and you'd like to vote for me, please endorse The Black Hat Guy for WA Delegate!

I am still willing to teach the region's recruiters how to use the API to recruit if the MoI wants.

Not sure who I'll support this time around. Are you opposed to a debate where citizens can ask questions?

I'll be organizing it for tomorrow then. Expect it to start the morning of November 1st, and it'll probably run until the elections.

is there a chance you could push it back to 10:00 AM EDT? I live in the southwest, and I get on nation states around 7:00 AM, or 10:00 AM EDT

6:00 AM on the east coast is 3 in the morning here :(

or does the event go on for several hours?

It'll go all the way from when it is posted to the very end of the electons on November 7th, so everyone in every time zone will have a chance over many days.
