After spending two terms as Minister of Defense, I feel my time there is done. I've spent a lot of time and effort taking the position from literally nothing to the Ministry it is now, and I've passed my share of legislation clarifying and expanding the role of the Ministry. I've created the jobs of infiltrator, scout, deputy, and monitor, and have many ongoing projects that I hope to see continue. I was a large force in guiding this region through the zombie outbreak to go from a modest region of 40 into a world powerhouse peaking at about 250. The Zombie Protocol Act and the Government Positioning Act were both mine as well. I've scanned this region for sleepers many times, kept watch, and helped handle the transition with the unfortunate loss of our great Founder, Divair. I was also influential in the creation of our recent defense pact with the Social Liberal Union, and still have an ambassador there under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

But now, I feel that my skills can be applied here, in the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. My running is not a slight on Azazel/Ostroeuropa - he's done a great job. However, there are many specific changes and expansions I feel could be applied, and this position is the best one in which I can make sure we expand as a prominent region in the world, one that the rest of the world looks to with respect and honor. As such a large region, we are constantly sought out for embassies by regions large and small. We have the potential to become a major player in the world, and your vote for me come June will help us become just that.

But enough of that. What exactly am I going to do? With further ado, I present my plan for the coming month, and possibly onward.

  • The creation of monthly (or more frequent) embassy updates. These will be drafted by the standing MoFA, and will be aesthetically pleasing while providing a concise overview of major events of the past month. This includes elections, reactions to extraregional events, the passage of relevant legislation, and anything else important for the regions we have embassies with. These will increase our ties with these regions in addition to keeping them up to date.
  • An embassy review. Embassies, by their very nature, do absolutely nothing. They are meant to be indicative of a diplomatic relationship, and are not that diplomatic relationship in themselves. We have no reason to have embassies with regions that are not interested in maintaining communications and diplomacy with our region, nor is there any reason to have a list of random regions at the top of the page. I'll be going through our embassies and speaking with the relevant position for each of those regions and ask them if they are willing to start actual diplomatic relations. If not, I will close down the embassy. This process will be very open - any citizen, for any reason, may request an embassy remain open and I will accede. If there is dispute, it will be settled democratically. An ambassador isn't necessary at all to have a diplomatic relationship - for example, in the case of North West Sprachtol, Kjrder is maintaining a diplomatic relationship without a forum ambassador, which is fine.
  • Forming new diplomatic relations. Yes, this includes the opening of new embassies, but with regions we actually want to open and maintain relationships with. These regions would be ones that are already major players in the world. I'll approach their relevant positions about the opening of an embassy and install a relevant ambassador there.
  • The expansion of our ambassador program. New relationships and expanded relationships mean that we'll need more ambassadors. Each individual can be assigned multiple regions to maintain a presence, at least on the forums but also with a puppet in the region. I'll be running at least three ambassadors if elected. Each ambassador will also be responsible for distributing the monthly update and changing it to match the forum code of the forum type the region uses (or changing it to NS rmb format if no offsite forum exists). I'll be going through every region we currently have an embassy with and telegramming their relevant position holder to ask if they want an ambassador stationed in their region to pass on news. I'll also be requesting that they place an ambassador in our region, or have an ambassador account on the forums that is active enough to be used as a liaison.
  • Introduction of speaking with the relevant position before accepting an embassy request. I will request an addition to the World Factbook Entry asking all those with embassy requests to first telegram me with their request, so I can speak with them as to expectations before I am forced to reject a request offhand. For an example of how this might work, see the SLU.

With this in mind, I ask for your vote come June. With your help, we can make the Versutian Federation not only a world power, but completely invincible because of interregional friendships that run deeper than a name on a page. Please vote ErasmoGnome for Minister of Foreign Affairs!

Questions, concerns, comments, and kumquats are always welcomed.

If you're going to do that, you might as well close all embassies, and then send a TG to each of the closed embassies saying that if they want them reestablished, then they should begin actually diplomatic relations. It'll take to long to go through every region and get a response from every single one regarding embassies.

Also, you have "Expansion of our ambassador program" listed twice.

Well, it seems kind of apbrupt to order the instantaneous closure of all of our embassies, and it will most likely be perceived as rude by the regions whose embassies are closing down suddenly. I think it is more diplomatic to contact the delegate. MoFA, or founder of the respective regions to speak with them about expectations for an embassy. If I don't get a response in a reasonable amount of time, or they do not wish to have actual diplomatic relations, then the embassy will be shut down. I'm willing to actually put in the work for such a program, and I think it is important to have a diplomatic and peaceful transition into the new system.

Oh, and oops about the ambassador expansion. I'll combine the relevant details and delete the duplication.

You're easily up there in my Top 5, and probably Top 3 for most qualified members of the VF for high government positions, period. Given the nature of the VF's presidency, I would say MoFA is the top position in the region, and you're more than qualified to fill the job.

I'm especially impressed with what you've done to build up the military from scratch (or at least, near-scratch; I can't be sure since I showed up in the middle of it all) and your work as a recruiter; by applying your talents to the MoFA, I'm positive you will help strengthen the VF in that area as well.

Unless there's some major figure in VF history I don't know about who suddenly returns and launches a campaign, you've got my vote, 100% guaranteed.

I do say good chap why are you running for this position?
Well, multiple reasons. First of all, as Aquilanum mentioned, I did build the position of MoD up from scratch (literally nothing), and now that I've been there for two months, I feel my contribution is finished. It's not that I feel I'm not as good at the job now - it's just that I feel that I've given the position all I can give, and beyond maintenance of pre-established protocols I would be a very bored MoD. It's time for someone with new ideas and vision to step in and improve the position farther than how far one person can go.

As for why I chose MoFA, it is because it is the position in which I feel I can do the most good. For what good I want to do, you simply need to check out my platform.
