UNITED STATES NAVAL AVIATION PRIMARY FLIGHT TRAINING VFA-14 PFT CURRICULUM --- I. PFT MANUAL SNA's will be issued a copy of the VFA-14 original PFT Manual. The handbook consist of basic elements of flight to help the SNA understand principles, parts of an aircraft, and other general aviation information. SNA's are expected to read the manual on their own time, and be prepared to answer questions related to the material at any given time by an instructor. II. FIRST FLIGHT The first flight will consist of take-off, instrument orientation, pattern entry, and landing. III. SECOND FLIGHT The second flight will consist of take-off, visual navigation, instrument navigation, and landing. IV. THIRD FLIGHT The third flight will consist of take-off, aerobatics (aileron roll, split-s, Immelmann, barrel roll), and landing. V. FOURTH FLIGHT The fourth flight will consist of take-off, formation flying, and landing. VI. SOLO FLIGHT The solo flight will be a preset course for the SNA to follow. It will include all topics covered in previous flights. Upon completion of the solo flight, the Student Naval Aviator will be graduated from PFT, and transferred to the Tailhook Syllabus section of training. |
