This year's UK Mega Weekend will be the weekend off 26th-27th July. With probable extra drafts on the preceding Friday evening. Saturday's main event will be Two Team and Sunday's Random Modern Age - see below for details. https://www.facebook.com/events/620861214657014/ When? July 26th and 27th 2014 House of Heroes opens at 10am on Saturday 26th and stays open till late. On Sunday we open at 10:30am and close up by 11 pm. House of Heroes will also be open the preceding Friday night (25th July) from 7pm for casual play and drafting. Where? House of Heroes 43 Church Gate Loughborough Leicestershire LE11 1UE Price? The entry fee is £2.50 each day payable on the door (Friday night is free). Drafts will be £6 per player or £3 per player for French boosters. Proxies Because UDE haven't printed any cards in a long while this will be a proxy tolerant event. This means you can play with "proxy cards" in your deck. However all proxies must clearly display what card they are, and all of that card's salient information. (You cannot use Proxies in the drafts!) Main Events & Formats: Saturday 26th July - Two Team 1) Choose Two different Teams 2) All cards in your deck must either have one of those team affiliations or mention one of those teams in rules text. The only exception to this is team-up cards. 2b) You may include team-up cards in your deck if they mention either of your chosen teams or if they don’t mention any teams at all. 3) You must include at least 24 cards of each team in your deck. (That is 24 cards that either have that team affiliations or mention it in rules text – for each team.) 4) Standard deck construction rules are in place and the standard council ban/errata list is in effect. In addition the card “Lost City” and all of the MEV set are also banned. Two Team - FAQ So I get a free Team-up right? No! – this is not the standard BYOTT format, there is no free cross-over, you’ll need to team-up in the usual way (if you actually do want to team-up). Can I use Generic cards? No. Except for team-ups - Every card must be on or mention in its rules text one of your chosen teams. This means most “Legend” cards won’t be legal; neither will things like Savage Beatdown or Mobilize. What is a “team-up card”? For this format a “team-up card” in terms of deck building restrictions is any card with the version “team-up” or other cards from older sets that function in essentially the same way (Marvel team-up, World’s Finest etc.) - Note the standard definition of team-up cards from the comprehensive rules will apply during play. What about team-ups that grant team affiliations (Rann, Thanagar, Superhuman Registration Act. Etc.)? If the affiliation granted is one of your chosen teams then fine, but most cards like this will not be eligible for inclusion as you won’t be able to choose that granted team affiliation and have the other cards to meet the 20 card minimum (rule 3). What about dual affiliated Characters? As long as at least one of a character's affiliations is one of the teams you have choses you can use that character in your deck. If the character is dual affiliated to both of your chosen teams you can count towards the 24 card minimum for both teams. Sunday 28th - Random "Modern" Age Random modern age is a constructed format where 4 sets (2 DC and 2 Marvel) are drawn out of a hat and decks are constructed using only cards from those 4 sets. The draw has taken place and the four sets are: DC Origins (DOR) Web of Spiderman (MSM) Infinite Crisis (DCR) Marvel X-men (MXM) Standard deck construction rules are in place and the standard council ban/errata list is in effect. Side Events & Evenings (Friday & Sat/Sun after the days constructed event finishes): Drafts - Various sets will be on offer most @ £6 per player (3 boosters, we have some French Marvel Knights/Web of Spiderman Boosters @£3 per player if you are feeling brave...) Galactus – test your might against big G. Casual play With sufficient interest we may hold a sealed deck tournament. (Prices to be determined.) Prizes: There will be a selection of Prizes this year, although Vs. related prizes are harder and harder to come by they will be comic book hero related. Judging: As UDE no longer support or sanction Vs. System there aren’t really any Judges around anymore. I was a Judge but one big reason for me organizing this event is wanting to play in it. Therefore Judging will be done by a selection of players (including me) identified at the start of the event – I will be “Head Judge” and have final say on rulings except in games I am playing in, when my 2IC will have the final say. If you want to volunteer to judge please drop me a PM here or message me on Facebook. Other Things: Facebook: There is a Facebook event for this event. https://www.facebook.com/events/620861214657014/ If you are coming and have a Facebook account, it would be great if you could confirm your attendance there. Whether you are coming to the event or not why not joint the UK Vs. System Players FB group? https://www.facebook.com/groups/UKVsSysten/ Please invite your Vs. friends too. Accommodation: If you are looking to stay over in Loughborough the venue is on the outskirts of the town centre so most town centre accommodation won’t be far from the venue. You might want to check out distances on Google maps. Postcode (LE11 1UE) Admittance: This event is open to all but if anyone under the age of 16 wishes to attend they will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult (which could be another player). Anyone playing in a main or side event will be required to pay an entrance fee but adults accompanying younger players and not playing themselves will not be charged.
