Everything is subject to change, but much like last time, don't expect much to change lol.

Location: All Things Fun! (RT 73 in NJ)
When: 1st Saturday of August
Time: 1pm sharp
Format: triple threat golden age
Bans: UDE and council bans and erratas only
Rules:
- each play must have 3 decks
- at the start of a round, the opponent will randomly select one of your 3 decks. This is the deck you're playing with that round.
- you must use every deck before you can replay a deck. This means rounds 1-3 you will be playing a different deck.
- you must bring 3 different decks. No 2 card change BS. But true variants are okay(quick fate and quick volt are different decks with a similar plan. Playing the same deck with only tech cards different is not a variant)

Entry fee: 15, this could be lower should players be okay with a less rewarding prize payout.
Prizes: TBD but expect something similar to last time

Any questions or anything like that let me know. I'll keep updating this as things get more concrete.

I have a problem. I would have to supply decks for up to 4 people. While I could technically make 12 decks, don't have enough Mobilizes, Enemy, Savage Beatdowns among other cards to go around. I name those cards. Is there anyway proxies would be okay?

I like the idea of the format but I think it alienates playgroups that have combined stuff and it sends like most do.

Halfish of the people at the last event grouped their stuff with others.

It does sound fun but I think the turnout could be hindered by the format.

Nothing is concrete yet. There's tons of kinks to be worked out in the next 4 weeks. Good point out.

Can we get a little discussion as to how big of an issue the card sharing thing might be?

I'm thinking I'll allow proxies IF you're already playing those cards in another one of your decks. This way you still need to own the actual cards but you don't have to own 3 playsets or keep changing sleeves.

I mean I dont think card sharing should be that big here.... I mean its a golden format... so that probably means people are gonna come with there best built decks and the cards they dont have, and again its golden im sure they can find some sorta substitute. .. the last tourny ill use me as an example that deck I used is not a deck I plan on making, keeping or configuring in the near future lol it was just for that tourny and its guidelines. And im sure im not the only one lol but yeah card sharing shudnt be an issue

While I doubt we can do it. It would be awesome if we tiered the team's. Good, average and bad. Then each person had to bring one deck from each team. Though f brotherhood is top tier, for your top tier deck you could pair them with any other team if you wanted.

The tier idea is nice but also removes a large amount of randomness. I can't think of a single deck that doesn't have multiple bad matchups. Most hate cards can be splashed into any deck.

To give a restriction is to make this idea pointless honestly. If we did tiers, then everyone will just bring what they feel is the best in each tier. If I do wide open 3 decks no restrictions, the possibilities for the matches are far more wide and random.

If this idea doesn't pan out its no big deal. I'll change the format to something easier.

In any format don't most people just bring what they feel is the best?

I can appreciate the tier idea but I don't think it really works properly in practice.

Particularly when lumping teams as a whole into a tier. Like from those links New Brotherhood variants are certainly top tier decks, but what if someone wanted to bring along their pet deck which is some janky Lost City Big Brotherhood variant that isn't Migga City?

The deck they've made is almost certainly not going to be top tier in GA but due to the way things are broken down by team you have to consider it one and there isn't really any way to break things down further than that all that easily.

Evaluations like that really need to be done on a case by case basis as plenty of things are not broken or even particularly good in certain context. Justice League of Arkham was a perfectly good team-up card in a straight Arkham deck. Dr.Light isn't particularly game breaking when he is in a straight Emerald Enemies deck.

Tier systems in competitive are a nightmare. As stated above the gray areas just become so complicated it is impossible to please everyone. I'd be down for any format besides "bring your own (insert the blank)"

I feel like those formats are already defined and less fun to play

As I said I doubt we could do it. I liked the idea of only playing old art cards though.

Yo bring your own modern was hype!

But I agree, tiers are awful, this isn't like competitive sports or fighting games where saying a team/character is too good means that's the end of X completely.

I'll allow proxies for cards you're already playing in a different deck.
