@KardKrazy: I doubt they will have Army in the first set but they can, but like the power cards, this will create some type of secondary market for these even if they are not booster distributed so that box set can be torn apart for more value than just Army cards. Most players have more than one deck and they may play the same cards in that deck (ie Flying Kick or Savage Beats), so there will be higher demand for these "core" cards. It will be interesting to see what becomes the "money" card in this first set. |

If anything, this is UDE's one big mistake. They should have tried to make the rule changes compatible with Vs 1.0 cards. I understand that for stats, they couldn't do so but as I stated before, maybe that's a project for the Vs 1.0 community to try to bridge the 2 games. Once we see the atk/def curve by drop, I'm sure someone can figure out some simple formula to apply to the Vs 1.0 cards to make them playable in the 2PCG system (or vice versa). Good to see you too Kariggi! |

But can't you just switch them out? ![]() I mean I would never ever buy two boxes of one set, even if it was Vs 1.0 coming back in this format, when all I have to do is take 2-3 minutes switching out a few cards. Edited by KardKrazy, Jun 12 2015, 06:21 PM.

I think the army mechanic is a little overblown. They probably won't have any Army characters in the box with the numbers they announced but like other games. Tokens can literally replace the mechanic without any issues. A Moloid token 2/1 is not much different then a character card. Magic does it and it kind of replaces the dated mechanic. @Bathulk Yeah the generics (wich apparently there are tons of with little to no team stamped PTs according to the ppl who demo'd it) are going to be used the most and having a few sets will trim down on swapping times but I cannot see there being any "money" cards in a LCG distribution system barring any foil variant packs in the box like hellboy. Take an extra 10 dollars and buy all the same color sleeves and swap. Im lazy so I def plan on buying multiple boxes xD |

Heh... I didn't even do that, I was the king of proxies... I just had a hard time remembering that Strength of the Grave was Savage Beatdown. Some people are completists and want to have full playable decks without having to switch cards. I knew a few people who had more than one or two playsets of Savage and Mobilize. |

Oh man...even I wasn't that bad :P. I was never a big fan of proxies. I at least had the cards. But yeah even when Vs was around back in the day I just switched cards non-stop between decks. But it's also understandable if someone has spare $$ to blow and they love the game they are playing. While it's not entirely the same, I blew a ton of $$ on DCUO (a MMO I have played the last 4 years), while others looked at me that played the game and went "Whyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!" lol. |

That's not the accusation. The accusation is: they lied to us. Proofs: we have video showing that. They were pretty clear about it and that was undeniably the reason so much people bought those boxes. Now, you may like them and pretend this is no big deal. But if a company want to sell me something, that company lying to me is a big deal. There are getting what they asked for. |

Remember the good old days when we use to discuss fun card combos and cool deck lists...instead of listening to haters repeat themselves ad nauseum. I miss the good old days. |

@TK: I was addressing one accusation. There were several (these were made by you):
This is the one I was talking about:
Again, saying something was a test run, saying that they want to bring the original Vs System is not tied to the money paid for those sets. Did someone from UDE say "The money from these sets will pay for the new Vs game"? And you can't say that that was absolute reason people bought those sets. New players could have bought them and old players could have bought them for the shirt (was a shirt included in each set?). Which brings up my previous point. How many players at GenCon 2014 were from the Vs 1.0 community? There are barely any players here (I count less than 25 active members). So how in the world could they have sold 1000, 10000 or even 500 of these sets last year esp if it's not a booster box so you will only buy 1? How many were at the Vs Worlds last year? Was it even 100? There is some bad math going on here. |

Well to be honest man, according to Gen Con's site, 184,699 people attended Gen Con in 2014. The idea that 1000 of those people bought a Vs Box isn't a far stretch. Why they would buy them, who knows, but to think that only .5% (not even 1%) of the people to walk through the doors at Gen Con would buy a $50 box of cards with Super Heroes on it is not a far stretch. Hell if you did 10,000 that is still only 5% of the people who walked through the doors at Gen Con. Edited by KardKrazy, Jun 12 2015, 07:35 PM.

@KK: Well, I've sold at GenCon before. You are competing with hundreds of vendors and games. The attendees don't have enough money to buy every game they are interested in (especially at a $50 price point). Not to mention that not all attendees are card gamers. I admit that UDE marketing it as a "new" LCG might have helped... but 1000 is a huge number, and 10000 seems impossible. I've reached out to prior UDE contacts to confirm print numbers and sell through but not sure if they will share that information with me. |

I know right? I still run the deck I build after you floated your Dr. Doom, Just Reward list. This place is a ghost town and the FB group is like 90% people either trying to buy or sell cards or posting self-congratulatory pictures of their foil collecitons. |

So I've been doing some digging and I wonder what trumps what when it comes to expectations. From ICV2 on 8/18/14 (emphasis mine):
http://icv2.com/articles/comics/view/29457/vs-system-revival-revamps-format And then on 4/6/15:
http://icv2.com/articles/news/view/31276/details-first-marvel-vs-system-release So it's not like May's announcement was a surprise. But I guess you guys may have already hashed over this back in April? UDE won't tell me last year's set numbers but I still have a hard time believing there were 1000 sold. And even if true, I doubt all those sales were to the old Vs 1.0 community. Who here bought one of those sets and thus feels "cheated"? |

That still is a favorite Kitchen Table deck that actually wins on occasions. (If I get the right match up. But its a lot of fun using the combos surronding Dr. Doom, Just Reward.) I'm humbled you remember that deck idea and ran with a version of your own. (Thumbs up to you) Its one of the reasons I was interested in the new game (Whatever anyones opinion of the make and model you wish to debate, Ford, Chevy, or Dodge) I just want some new opportunity to engage in deck building and fresh playtime to laugh about and fuss over like in the old days. There's enough flavor and elements to the new game to help me pretend. So regardless, I'm looking to play some new cards. |
