I agree that Storm looks amazing. All the X-men cards do; and the best part is that all the supporting characters support storm's style. Beast and Emma draw cards so you can get more yellow basics to your hand while Colossus will be your big guy who defends you late game/aka who takes out the other MC once you have enough green basics (which you should thanks to emma/beast and wild cards). |

Blog post preview reveals the Iron Man MC. I like his abilities more than Storm's but his XP mechanic is easily the most conditional of all the MCs we've seen so far. http://thedanger-room.blogspot.com/2015/07/card-preview-iron-man-main-character.html |

Iron Man is pretty nice. I can see his level up being easily the worst if you never draw extra copies of cards to power up or one of the best with a good hand. You need to build a deck around him that incorporates powering up to be effecrive and that is fine with me. I prefer him far more to Hulk but I am not sold on him or Avengers just yet. Hopefully we see more Avenger cards but as of right now both of the Avenger MC's are my least favorites. Unless they have super nice support I am just going tp give my Avenger stuff to my friends. |

I read a comment on the FB page but I don't think it's like Magic where taking a characters DEF to 0 (via -1/-1 counter) is an autostun. You still have to engage that character in combat in order for it to get stunned. |

Edit: It is in the preview article that had the nine cards. They said "if a character's defense ever reaches 0 it is immeditately stunned".

That is assumed by John Tatta on his blog. None of the official UDE articles as far as I know say that 0 DEF is an auto stun. Flavor-wise that doesn't make sense as you should really only be stunned by combat or an effect that specifically stuns the character. I know that MtG does that but in Vs 1.0, 0 DEF did not mean autostun (as there were quite a few 0 DEF cards in Vs 1.0). Do you have a link? |

They answer it in the Facebook comments on the article with Storm in it. I'm just going to copy/paste to save time from scrolling through all the comments. Corn LeCounte: Can storms power make a characters stats go negative? Vs. System 2PCG: If a character's DEF ever reaches 0, it is immediately stunned. They also clarify that negative counters cancel out positive counters. So if a character had 2 +1/+1 counters on it and you used Storm's ability on that character, it would now have no counters. Thanks plaid. Still doesn't make sense to me in a Vs context but this makes -1/-1 abilities very powerful (like Black in MtG). |

The counter cancelling thing works exactly the same in MtG and it bugged me at first. I was like "Just because you have + counters and then get - counters it doesn't make the + ones go away. You just have both". Then one of my friends explained that they basically did it that way to avoid having two sets of dice on the same creature and having to keep track of it. Lol, God knows we have enough dice to keep track of in this new VS. now. |

Well, this is not VS, so that shouldn't matter. I don't like all this +1/+1 counters and wound tokens, it's making the game messy. I'm having a hard time imagining how this game works. The only way to win is to stun the main character enough times. Most of them are in the 5-6 health range, which mean the game usually last that many rounds and 10-11 turns. That's considering every round the MC gets stunned, which doesn't seem likelly with how the front row works now. Also almost all the suporting characters have 1 health, which means they are KOd right away. It will be hard to build any kind of board presence that way, and missing a drop might be pretty devastating... |

Until we see the plot twists and other supporting characters I think aggro decks might be viable. A MC like Wolverine is able to stun all the opposing MC's on his own so your field is all about taking out the other characters. Colossous and, by having a keyword for it, others can give a character flight the turn they come into play, the front row won't matter for that turn if your goal is to take down the opposing MC. And you can team attack them if you do have board control. So honestly 10 turns might be average for a control deck but 6 turns is very possible if there is support for Wolverine's strat, which seems to be on taking out the opposing MC asap. |

Yeah, once you get used to it the counter system makes sense. I would have two different sets of dice/tokens that look distinct though. This way if you end up with only -1/-1 counters you don't end up mixing them up with a character that has +1/+1 counters. So for example blue dice for -1/-1counters and red for +1/+1 counters. Besides that you just keep adding or subtracting from the dice/tokens until they are stunned. Question; do all counters get removed when they are stunned or just +1/+1 counters? |

They said all + and - counters get removed when stunned. The only things that stay are wounds and XP if it's the MC that got stunned. |

Ah okay so Storm's power is more tactical than I thought. I have to say the more I see the game the more I love it. |
