Am I missing something, or did VS 1.0 have a secondary win condition outside of putting an opponent's endurance down to zero through combat? VS was one of the few ccgs to remove milling as a win condition. |

I meant stuff like Xavier's dream, rigged elections, secret six victorious, etc. Ude said they are not having anything like that. |

Honestly, I'm all in favor of more focus on combat. To me, that is the heart of the game and I always hated playing against decks that turned into games of solitaire due to some ridiculous lock. |

Lemon I have stayed quiet for the most part because I don't have anything good to say. But bat hulk made a comment about xchan being the only one with a problem with something and I just said that it wasn't just him. Then he asked a question and I responded. Your aggressive response is not needed since I was actually just trying to clarify/correct and answer a question asked of me. |

@Vader: To clarify, I said that x_chan was in the minority of players who want to get rid of the resource row. He's since explained his position a bit more. Do you want to get rid of the resource row? I understand you have issues with the new game overall and that's fine but I was very specific about why I think keeping the resource row despite its now limited functionality is still okay. I still feel this is Vs in that it retains enough of the OVS (still like that term) mechanics but I do agree that some things are not to my liking (so many counters) and will reserve my final judgement until I've played a few games and watch the meta form. I am all for the reducing decision trees and focusing on combat... even though most of the guys I played with prefer combos and alternate win conditions (Willy Bonos!!), I am a mano y mano guy and like games to be fighting not dancing. I do think there will be a learning curve with Ranged, Melee, front/back row positioning, and strike back but that makes those things more meaningful. Hopefully this week's article clears all that stuff up for us (like what is the advantage for Flight). |

Flight bypasses protection. Any character on the front row is considered a protector and in order to attack those on the back row, you need to stun all the characters in the front row or have flight. I don't know how that is going to interact with team attacking and strike back mechanics, since they are altering the rules between single and team attacks. |

Thanks x_chan. So similar to how it is in OVS. So having a Ranged+Flight character is pretty strong. |

Flight and range on one character is not fair :P I think this is why Iron Man is the only one so far to have both. |

Yes. The difference regarding OVS is that any character in the front row acts as a protector to all those in the back row, so undercurving might be the best way for any stall decks or any MC with range like Rocket. The more characters you have in the front row, the harder it is for your enemy to reach your MC. Although I'm not sure that's going to be worth the trouble. The game has only one goal, to stun the oponents MC enough times, and until the game generates some kind of burning or secondary win condition (which they said they don't want to support right now), stall doesn't fit into it. Also, what happens if both MCs are KOd at the same time? Is it considered a draw or is the attacker considered the loser? If so, what prevents the game from going on endlessly under the pretext that if I don't attack I will not lose? Will there be a time limit? How will the match be decided in case there's one? For the number of wonds taken? If they are the same, then what? I hope some playtester had brought that to the devs and they acted upon it. |

I'm going to assume that the person whose turn it is (ie the attacker) will win the game if both MCs are knocked out. This makes it prudent that you attack on your turn. |

I think they'd rather have it end in a draw if both main characters die at the same time. |

That what I was thinking as well. A draw could still be a possible scenario which is fine, too. The issue is that whoever attacks first, especially with characters like wolverine and rocket who are super offensive from the gate, will have a huge advantage. I think a draw would be more fair but I don't think you lose until your recovery phase so it would techically come down to who recovers first. |
