Sorry you didn't enjoy yourself. I have yet to play the game mysf but everything you hated about the game (randomness with no search, top decking, etc) is what I loved to play with when I played old vs. Marrow is still my favorite deck because I love drawing into cards and getting into situations where the next card matters. |

Basically that matches are decided by your draw not by your skills or strategy. Reading the reports there were losts of matches that were decided because the oponent didn't draw and play anything for multiple turns. I can't stand that. Plus I'm not sold on the MC idea. It looks like only 2 or 3 will be viable and the others will be just crap. OVS Legends were a much better idea to me as they encouraged deckbuilding and card interaction. And when some legend was left behind, they released more supporting cards to improve his gameplay and make him more competitive. I'm not sure how will they prevent 2-3 MC to dominate the meta as they have 0 to no impact on what the decks are about.
And this, so much this. How I wish you were still developing fan sets. I had such great times with all your fan creations.... To bad all the council pre approved thing throw me off. |

X-chan said the same thing several pages back that he talked to a tester who said they've been working on this game for like a year and a half or two years. So what you heard just confirms what he had previously said that UDE straight up pulled a bait and switch on OVS players by slapping the VS name on a new game just to further fleece fans of the game. Sure nu-VS has some similarities to OVS, but then you could say it has similarities to MtG, Pokemon, and WoW. Seeing a lot of the non-spoiled cards and reading some of the match reports moved the needle for me a bit and had me thinking about getting back in. But your descriptions, a bit of a longer look at all the mish-mosh decks, and confirmation that UDE is just pulling another fast one pretty much undoes all of that. I'll probably play a few games if one of my friends picks the box up, but I don't really see any reason I should ever give another penny to Upperdeck when there are so many other options provided by companies that don't shit on their customers at every turn. |

The game is a lot of luck with this small card pool and low draw effects. Lack of tutor unless your playing prof X who is tier 2 is about it. Thanos, Star lord ran the event. There were aggro versions of every MC that could level on turn 3. Cap, Storm, Wolvy, etc. I legit had Drax out on my opponents turn 3 multiple games. Also lost to a turn 4 gauntlet activation. Game is really random at times. Game is a ton of luck but the successful players were strong players in general from watching the features. The thing is even non thanos decks and star lord decks can win cuz of the lack of consistency wich may be also a good thing for casual play but awful for big events for big money. Thanos is by far the best MC but missed drops and locations. All 4 failed to make the finals. I love the game for what it is. A hobby league type of game that isn't that serious. Will absolutely be going to Gen Con next year. Too much fun. |

Thanks for the rundown Wally. I think this is what UDE is aiming for... which is what makes MtG and other games successful. It does require skill to beat most opponents, but even casual players can beat the experienced ones (Pros vs Joes). I'm not sure if this is still true but wasn't it the abundance of tutors that made Vs different from the other games? That's what made decks consistent and good players so much better than newbs. Do DBGs even have tutors? It's really that luck factor that evens the field. But given that, shouldn't they go back to best of 3? I really think that's where they messed up in that the top 8 should have been best of 3 (or at least the Finals). That Finals game where Barnes had a bad draw wasn't really indicative of his deck. Did anyone comment about that at the $10k? |

The finals match was indeed kinda disappointing to read/watch, seeing a top deck/player fumble and producing nothing 3 turns in a row and losing the whole finals cuz of it isn't the best poster for your game (if you want competitive). Seeing the deck had ~20 locations(?), with a 2 card draw per turn the odds are so bad you miss 3 turns in a row. A best of 3 for finals should always be imo. I am a strong proponent of best of 3 for this game in general. If I run events at my store, I will be trying it out for sure. |

I think you need it since there is that "pros vs. joes" element in this game much more than VS 1.0. |

So do we have an official release date for this yet? I know some folks got their hands on the product at Gen*Con, but do we know when the general public will have access? |

After playing the game last night in a free for all setting and one game last night with my girl, I have to say I do love the game. The free for all took a little time to finish but then again our ovs free for alls took a long time unless I played one of my infamous burn decks and killed everyone on 6 (hitting to 0 but still lose due to negatives). Teaching my girllfriend to play was easy since she played hearthstone and soon started making attacks without assistance. She wants to make her own deck so I am glad I bought one box off ebay for 50 (how I got it early) and my pre order off cool stuff so she can make what she wants. |
