Hearthstone has search cards?! I was unaware (I play the game every day).
There are indeed search cards man. The one I use on a daily basis is:

http://www.hearthhead.com/card=1783/mad-scientist

Some that exist that I don't use are:

http://www.hearthhead.com/card=860/sense-demons
http://www.hearthhead.com/card=530/captains-parrot
Those aren't true "search". I think when RNG is involved, calling it "search" does a disservice to cards like Mobilize and EmoE. :P

Though I do agree that it is more than VS 2PCG has, though I don't necessarily think that 2PCG's lack of them is a bad thing. My biggest issue is that they didn't off-set that with best 2-of-3.

I don't mind not having search... it does make the game have more luck which keeps it accessible to casuals.

As for the HS convo, it actually helps give me context when you and x_chan mention it.

I still think it doesn't compare to playing with real cards in front of a real person... but I get it if you don't have that many people around you or an LGS to play IRL.

There is a lot of discussion at the VS 2PCG Collective group on facebook. UDE employees and judges participate in the conversations there too. Join us!

It'd be a fair guess to predict the game will be comparatively popular to legendary. Likely more so with the hobby league support. One big competitive tournament a year is fine imo.

I love Hearthstone, but you are very correct that it doesn't replicate the social element of CCGs that many of us love so much.

-"Well met" "Well met" "Well met" "Well met"
-"That was an error" "I will hunt you down"

Basicly the same as tabletop talk with your friends. Not?

Sadly it seems so if you want to communicate with the Vs Community. I mean I occasionally sprinkled in my feelings leading up to the release but I might as well delete my Facebook page. That was the first main time I had used it in years. The pic on my profile is when my little one was like 2 going on 3. She is now 5 years old in 2 weeks. lol. I don't even know why I have one at this point. I stay away from all that Twitter stuff as well. Never got into it. I'm like you BH. Forums is where it is at for me as well if I want to communicate with someone about a game.

lol...Can't stand emote taunting players. I almost never use emotes, even when the other person says "Greetings" with theirs. I use to say "Greetings" back but half the time the ones I have said "Greetings" back to end up spamming, "Error" and "Taunt" emotes the entire time.

After my mulligan, the first 2 clicks I make in a game are to "Squelch" the other player :D

If you do you'll get to see my cooking! :p

Seriously though it's been a great resource for networking for me. Basically required for magic.

It seems like more people are posting over at VSHQ's boards. No one is even on Realms.

I'm still not on FB.

It's like 1% of the community size of the original Vs Forums. I didn't think this game would have a huge following or be a massive success but even I didn't think it would be this dead. I'm actually quite surprised at how lack luster the reception for the game has been.

I assume you're talking about 2.0?

My local store has apparently been able to move some product just because it's Marvel and a box game. No clue who's buying it though. One of our old VS players bought it and hates it. Another one got it for free from a different store and hasn't even opened it. The rest have no interest whatsoever.

I'm not really that surprised. There is no OP as far as I know (haven't been paying ANY attention), so what's the real point in getting it? Plus the hype was so big for VS coming back that I think for all the people who say "it's different, but still fun" there are a lot more who looked at it and went "this is not what I was expecting and I don't care about it one way or the other".
