Because that's what we are in the habit of doing. We can break that habit. I started a petition in another thread. Let's grow up and talk to each other without malice from now on.

Wrong. This site comes from the need to organize the community. The longer it takes people to realize this, the longer some people will feel we're divided.
Just like you have to recognize that we're not the ones responsible for it. This is VsSystem.org. If you have something against realms, you need to post it over there. Edited by carlosthedwarf, Feb 17 2009, 01:00 AM.

I am appreciative of the efforts of ALL Vs Players. Yours included. I support TCG player; while I haven't posted much over there I am a member and I've advertised for stuff that's been done over there. While most of my VS System messaging board history has been with the realms, do not let that cloud you from seeing my motive. Or how I feel. Continue to do what you do over at TCG Player. I ask this of you too: Don't be exclusive. In this post-UDE world ... we need a hub. vssystem.org NEEDS to be that hub. As to why: Kamiza/Carlos can answer that much better than I can, and I trust them with everything I am. Edited by Orange_Soda_Man, Feb 17 2009, 01:32 AM.

Again your being defensive and for no need. We are on the same page and yet your taking offense to what I'm saying. Miguel I have no problems with anyone. All of the people I did have problems have long since left. What I am trying to say to you is that we need to do a better job of bridging the gaps on both ends. Not just from one side. There are still a lot of people who play this game and a lot of people who harbor ill feelings. We need to come together as a community and fix that. With that being said I will say this and this is THE one thing your going to quote and so be it. If it had not been for Realms dying do to technical difficulty this site would probably never have come to pass. Instead everything would have been orginized there (as it was prior to this site). I also know that people at tcgplayer were talking about forming their own council. That should not be. We need to come together to help keep this game going. I'm sorry if what I'm saying offends/upsets you but that is the way that it is. You are my Alpha Flight brother in Arms so please don't take offense to anything. As of right now there are 3 seperate areas that need to become whole. There are still people clinging to realms as well as tcgplayer. Why then are people saying that they need to just suck it up and come over here? I'm sorry but that is BS. Instead we can utilize all three sites and make them seem as one and eventually it will become ONE community. However, that day is not today. There fore those of us who are just commited to keeping this whole thing afloat need to come together and make sure that all ideas (half a$$ed or not) are shared with the entire community. Otherwise your going to make other people feel left out and that will be bad. Vs system is still by far and away the best tcg in existance. Of that there is no doubt. However, if why try to force people to convert instead of slowly melding them then you will do more harm then good. With that said you have been posting some of the more major ideas on tcgplayer and for that I am thankfull. Now we need those on tcgplayer (myself included) to do the same with your site. We need to constantly be linking back and forth between the two (three if you count realms) so that people get used to the idea of utilizing both sites . Remember we cannot leave anyone off this ark or else we all might end up like the dodo. Dragon OUT! |

I have heard enough nonsense, honestly. TCGPlayer, VsRealms Vs.System.org and any and all other sites and blogs need to chill. Sure we would all like our preferred site to be included and be part of the Concil, but what we must all come to realize that the future of Vs is not dependent on any site but in the players within them. Who cares which is the central site as long as the information and activity is distributed and shared by all. If a council is elected for any activity it should be their job to look for all players opinions in all forums and not expect for every player of the community to look for them. This council should start the same threads in all sites and look for the opinions of all players and not just the opinions of the players that visit x or y site. I enjoy all 3 of the above mentioned sites, but my heart is at TCGPlayer.com. It's my home for Vs. related material, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Sure I visit all sites but not all members of all forums do as I do. If you have one central site that doesn't care about the others opinions then your disregarding a large part of the community, and if it did then it is obvious that it is not a worthy council. |

THAT is what I'm talking about! We always do that. We need to stop it. Somehow, some way, we need to get a hold of our defense mechanisms when we discuss the game and its future and our plans and our new community. We can disagree without being disagreeable. All of us have the power to change the way we talk to each other, and the responsibility to move into the future as community members instead of competitive enemies. No matter what our individual opinions are, we owe it to each other to state them without getting offensive or defensive. We owe it to the game we love. Drop the guard and stop puffing out the chest. Everyone. |

Word. I apologize - especially to Dragon. I was getting defensive. I think its because the vibe I was getting at TCG was that of "you, Carlos, have to work hard to mend fences over here" and I was all "But it wasn't ME who broke the fences in the first place! Let's start fresh!" Obviously this transition is an ongoing process, and I hope everyone who loves this game - no matter where they came from or where they call home - will be part of the process. One thing we agree on (actually, there are lots of things we agree on - but this is one of the key things) is that we need to keep communication up with all sites. All of us. So again - sorry for going a little off on the righteousness handle there. (And thanks especially to Stu for reeling me back in). I ain't perfect, but I try to be man enough to admit when I made a bad move. The last few posts I wrote could have been handled much better. |

What are you trying to accomplish with the snarky comment? How does sarcasm bring us closer to the goal? Not trying to criticize, just trying to shed some light on our usual problems. Let's stay clear and committed to our common purpose. We really don't need to try to out-wit each other when things get emotional. We need to stop playing head games and start keeping our focus on constructive discussion. We can, and we will.

I know where your heart is, Stu. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic; I'm not very good at that anyways. I guess my motive for that post was one of calming. That's all. |

OK, that's enough out of everyone! 1) No one is being 'snarky'. This whole discussion is a result of a lack of verbal queues and intonation that no one can hear while reading. That's the failing of a forum. When I read OSM's statement, I assumed it was an honest and grounding question to the forum. Similar to "Hey, everyone. Let's take a breath, and focus on what we are ALL trying to do. Keep VS alive." 2) To Dragon, et al. No one is saying that other forums need to shut down. All I was saying is that the best way to unify all players is by trying to centralize communication. We will be more successful if everyone is in one place at one time. Sure we can multi-message various forums. And we should. But at the same time, there are definite failings in doing that as well. 3) Stu. I gotta be honest here. I can't get over how many times over the years a topic got out of control because you wouldn't let it go. I don't know what it is, but it always seems like you're "poking the hornet's nest". I always assume your intentions are good, but sometimes you just gotta let things go instead of getting the middle and things moving. Just my opinion here, but I felt I needed to say it. Now, back to the topics at hand: -We want to move forward with a new/revised set. -There are MANY opinions on the way to attack the development. -There are valid reasons to do more investigation into what we can and can't do with the existing art and cards. -We need to make sure EVERYONE is included in the discussions, and informed about where the community is headed. Now let's get to work on all of these topics and let's all quit being so <enter adjective of choice>. Including myself.

Cool beans, I guess I saw something that wasn't there. I will work on it, we will all work on it, and the New Era will be one of productive discussion instead. Cool beans.

That is a very profound set of words. Mad props. We should all be man enough to admit that each of us contributes to the common problems that the Vs. System community is rife with. And we should all be man enough to take responsibility for our posts. Including myself.

I'm gonna guess that there's gonna be a poll for it and that we'd use the honor code to vote only once, or maybe there'll be a one vote/account thing and for the period new accounts that start after the poll starts are denied access to vote until after the poll is over. But this is all subject to discussion anyways. /my2cents Edit: Post #69. giggidie-giggidie-ye-ahhh /quagmire Edited by Orange_Soda_Man, Feb 17 2009, 03:17 AM.
