That is a crazy fun thread. It really makes you think... and then grin from ear to ear.

Good stuff.

because I forgot my log-in info and I'm lazy:

Top 3: MUN, MVL, MTU
MUN gave me the Illuminati, who are awesomely awesome. plus it's like one of the last pseudo-alternate win conditions out there save for Old Lace and a couple. The Captain is fun; I remember a draft I had with Kariggi, Pat and American Maid from the realms where I was using the dead cards in my hand as power-up fodder for The Captain.
MVL gave us the only solid endurance gain card outside of MUN in For Great Justice!. Ken showed this card to me in his deck before I saw it anywhere else; and that was back in June. I then went on to pull my first mobilize in one of the MVL packs I bought from Kings Games That which must not be named. I didn't do so well in the release celeb. at Gencon '07 though.
MTU: Finally, Spidey gets some justice!

Final Verdict: MUN. Carrying the Torch is the 'brokez for enabling my quicksilver mutant avenger / nightcrawler man of the cloth decks.

Favorite Set: DJL
Why?: First of all, I must confess that I greatly prefer DC over Marvel. That probably has a lot to do with this pick. However, the main reason I pick this set is because I feel it has value in all formats of play: constructed, draft, sealed, multiplayer, you name it. There are some VS sets that only really work in some formats (or no formats). For example Man of Steel is fun as heck to draft (put up flame shield), but is really horrible in any constructed format. There were a lot of great mechanics that came out of DJL (IJ handfill, any SS mechanic). And finally I will leave you with a brief antecdote. This set really stepped up for me when I was playing JLA curve against a well built SS deck. There was Wonder Woman restricting the DC Baddies from executing their schemes, Martian Manhunter appearing out of nowhere to attack Lex Luthor, and ultimately Batman thwarting plot twists that they tried to play. The flavor of that set is just 1000% delicious. [whip]

DGL got me into the game.
DCR got me into OP.

Both sets changed a lot of things in the game. Both were playable out of the box.

My first instinct is DCR.

I'm going to go

1) DCR

2) MUN

3) MVL (although DCL is very close behind)

I always enjoyed the Avengers set, even though i am a much larger DC fan than marvel.

this set changed the game, breaking the mold that was, titans, sentinels, (some form of doom control). It brought cheep powerful decks to the format that were also fun.

Avengers reservists, Squadron no hand, faces of evil , Thunder tactics,

the only real problem with the set overall was the fact that most rares were worthless as they were not any good. Cap america, Iron Man and Thor were no where to be found in avenger decks due to better options.

MHG competes with Avengers for most playable affiliations in one set. Given that FF is my favourite comic book, I don't really have any other option than to pick that set... as nearly every character is from the FF books, even though there's only 8-9 FF cards in the set itself.

I hear drafting 7-drops and 5-drops in MOR Draft is ultra-tech.

I agree... MAV was one of the most playable sets in all formats. You could even go Kang in draft if you wanted to.

But I got to give it a tie with MVL because 1) it was simplified and 2) MKO was back!

Well my favorite cards came out of DCL, so nice to see some of the big names of comics I love step center stage, but for overall set probably MHG all the teams were playable, lots of good stuff...and Doomed Earth .
