It is indeed a sad day for The Illuminati. As you might or quite possibly might of not heard the Illuminati had a Couples Dual Legend Golden Age Tournament as a celebration for Valentines Day. I say had because as of today the contest has been cancelled. Honestly we don't know what went wrong. We posted about the tournament in TCGPlayer, VsSystem.org and in VsRelams. We had signatures and banners up everywhere we could. To top things off we had help from the Blog community getting the word out for the contest. We had boosters, EA cards, Prize cards from MEQ, DCX and similar sets plus a very nifty mat to offer as prizes, but despite all our efforts to create something that could be enjoyed by all players, even those who did not enter the contest it simply fell short. Actually to say it fell short is an understatement. Even with a months notice and a small number of contestants asked to participate we received a grand total of 3 submissions. There are still a few days left for the contest's deadline to be reached, but quite frankly we don't think it would make much of a difference now anyways. The Illuminati would like to thank all 3 participants and as a token of our appreciation for taking the time to create and submit your decks we will send you some cards for your troubles. To Mike Lopez, InsanityFTW, and joey1234 a big thanks for your support. When ever you guys have the chance drop us your addresses over at TCGPlayer in the form of a PM so that we can send you guys a little something. We would also like to encourage the community to participate in any events like this in the future regardless of who creates the contest. There is not much else that we can do to keep the game going so we best take advantage of the few things like this that we have. Disappointment is a small word considering how we at The Illuminati camp feel, hopefully we will get over this and bring you guys a new contest somewhere down the road. Sincerely , The Illuminati |

It's crazy how hard it is to get some contests rolling. Right before yours, David G. tried to get one started and couldn't fill 16 brackets - and that's back when the game was still "being supported" by UDE. Don't feel too bad. And don't give up. Now that the community is a little less splintered, I'd advise you guys to try again in a month or so. (Maybe change the format? It was hard to tell if people "got it" or not since it was a little more complex than the average format.) |

Manchine, Shadowtrooper is a member(as am I) of the TCGPlayer Illuminati. We are a group dedicated to revive Vs.TCGPlayer.Com back to it's original glory. It use to be a site that was as visited as VsRealms at one point in time. But one sad day the site had a horrible crash and was down for an extended period of time and I would go as far to say 90% of the users transferred over to VsRealms while the site was down. Well the site stayed down or was impaired for so long that those users just stayed with VsRealms(I was one of these people). Well a couple of months ago me, Neil06, BPRD_Agent, Shadowtrooper, Number6, and vashstampeede99 agreed to work together to get the site back up to the traffic it use to see. Ok that was a rather long winded explanation but that's what happened and that's who we are=P. As for the contest, like carlos said man don't let it get you down. Our next one will be bigger and better=). The AoA Raid is getting pretty good attention and regardless if I was the main designer it was an TCGPlayer Illuminati project. later, Kj |

It's hard not letting things like this get me down. Number6's idea for the contest was beautiful and I know that if I wasn't involved in the Illuminati I would of have entered a deck. We had to work out some of the details but in the end the whole concept was great. The other thing that gets me down is the fact that we were announcing the contest everywhere. If people had the slightest intent of participating but didn't understand the rules they could of asked questions. We had a Q&A thread for the contest and we did answer some questions for some people who never even turned a deck in. But the thing that makes me feel worst of all was the pressure I put on the other members of the Illuminati to get things done so we could start the contest, specially on vash with the banners and flyers. I think I was even rude to him for not getting it done, vash man if you are reading this I am truly sorry for all the crap I put you through. Even though I admit I am sometimes a bit of a jerk I really want to help the community thrive, and it hurts when you put so much effort into something that isn't well received or appreciated. *cue the violins* It just sucks man. No offense intended with this post, but I'm just going to give you a few problems with it. For one, imo, to participate in this contest took a lot of background knowledge about comics. Sure, I could have just down a Mr. Fantastic/Invisible Woman deck, but to be honest, I don't know much about the universes... Maybe I am the exception to the rule, but I play vs because the game is so amazing, not because I like the characters. I remember going to the TCGplayer site to try to find the rules, but I couldn't find the thread. Once again, I'm probably a moron, so bear with me here. TCGplayer has soooooo many different subtopics in their vs system forum... The site just confuses me. |

I would still like to see someone from the Illuminati review the decks that were submitted and celebrate their construction with an article. When the Barn Door Challenge started, I never let a light turn-out bring me down. I just kept on truckin'. Pick yourself up and move on, and please let us see and enjoy the three entries. And, in my humble opinion, this thread could be deleted and started over when you feel better. That's what I did the other day when I let my emotions take over. I am not sure what this thread is trying to accomplish, but it may have other unintended effects. I know you are bummed out, and I wish there was more we could do to help you get the wind back in your sails. Feel better, we need your ideas and enthusiasm around here. Thanks, Stu

Bliven my signature here, on Realms and TCGPlayer had all hyperlinks to the contests thread will all the rules and Q&A. That was the same case for vash, KK, and Number6. Still you could of dropped me a PM or any of the Illuminati members to get the info. You didn't need to know much of the characters to know a few of the couples, here are some easy ones: Superman- Lois Lane (comics/cartoons/TV series/movies) Spider-Man - Mary Jane (comics/cartoons/movies) Cyclops - Jean Grey (comics/cartoons/movies) Mr. Fantastic - Invisible Woman (comics/cartoons/movies) Batman - Talia (come on My Beloved anyone?) Yeah there are some relationships that are less known but you didn't have to be a comic book buff to know some of these couples. I'm not blaming anyone here or anywhere else for the turnout of the contest, I just feel sad that it didn't go as I thought it would. stu- I thank you for your kind words man, and don't worry (or do) cause I'm not going anywhere. It will take some time for me to recover from the hit but it won't take that long. I saw this coming two weeks ago so I was prepared for it in a sense. As of now I am taking all my anger and sadness and using it to pound my friends on Street Fighter 4, so in about a couple of hours I should be ok. As for blogging about the decks I will have to ask the people who turned in decks if it would be ok for us to do so. If it's ok then I see no problems about doing it. If it's ok, would you like to do one stu? There was a Hellboy and Liz Sherman deck that would be right up your alley since you love the Hellboy collection so much. LMK. As for this thread, it wasn't intended for anything else than letting people know that our contest was cancelled, and how bummed we felt about it. I posted the announcement on our "club house" and every Illuminati member that got to reading it agreed it was ok to post it. We as a group don't do anything without a majority consent so I guess that if it does have an unintended feel to it we all missed it. If it does have a sad feel to it well man I wrote it and I do feel sad. I'm no writer and I guess I lack the skills to keep from transferring my feelings. Sorry about that. Keep your eyes peeled for late April as the Illuminati will be back with another contest. Hopefully this one will turn out better. |

Or, you do have the skills to transfer you feelings through words, which is by far a more difficult and valuable skill to attain. |

I don't know if I just missed it or the thread title didn't say enough to interest me in clicking it, but I for one did not know about your contest until this very moment. Honestly, it's going to take a while to get things going for both .org and TCGplayer. Just hang in there and keep doing what you are doing. Not everything you do is going to be a success. |

Seriously though, I did a quick search of these forums and this is the only mention of it whatsoever: http://s11.zetaboards.com/vssystem/topic/7105538/1/?x=40 If you're getting upset that people didn't know about it, maybe you should take a bit of responsibility yourself. Also, I turned off signatures in my profile options and I'm sure other people have as well so there was really no way to know about it. Not trying to be harsh but if this is the only announcement on these forums, how could you possibly think that you would get a huge turnout? |
