Well the signatures were perhaps turned off for you Bacon but that link you provided was not the only mention of the contest here. The contest was featured in the front page, here is the link for ya! http://vssystem.org/2009/02/12/valentines-day-is-just-around-the-corner/ It was also up on: Blues686's Blog (The Blues Effect) Orange Soda Man's Blog (Vs Unleashed) Stu Barnes' Blog (Full Body Transplant) and TCG Player Shadowtrooper's Signature in: VsSystem.org VsRealms TCGPlayer KardKrazy's Signature in: VsSystem.org TCGPlayer 2 other members signatures though I can't remember the sites right now. What more do you think we could of have done? |

It a tough time and a tough time in the game right now, those of us left are battling the buddies got blink blues what do I do fever. Community is at its lowest activity in a while, I sure heavily virus related, and compounded with recent announcements, folks are just going to take some time to refind their center and start building for fun again. |

And how many people skip right past the front page and go straight for the forums? And you may have had links on people's blogs but again, how many people would have gone to the front pages of those blogs instead of an individual linked page? What more could you have done? How about the most obvious thing: start a thread about it and get discussion going about it. Also, completely off topic but it's been annoying me for a while; it's could have not could of. |

I'll second that starting a thread in the forum would be the best way for a lot of people. I usually don't read signatures even if they're there, I don't look at front pages, and I don't go to blogs. A thread with a catchy title and lots of replies? That I'll check out in a heartbeat. Just some feedback, take it or leave it. |

No offense Bacon but your a hard man to reach. You disable signatures, you don't visit blogs archives for articles you might of missed, you don't go to TCGPlayer, and you don't go to the front page. I mean you don't do all this and somehow it is all my fault you didn't hear about the contest? Damn man I think you are being unreasonable here. (I guess this applies to CaptainIreland too). The first role of the Illuminati is to bring people over to TCG to share and discuss ideas of this game we love so much. If I post a thread about the contest in every site then why would they go to TCG? It would be counterproductive don't you think? Yeah, now you'll find a new way for us to have promoted the contest and I will give you another detailed explanation of why it either misses the goal of the team or whatever reason I have depending on your rebuttal. I do appreciate the input and all but I simply don't have the energy to discuss the teams failure anymore. I feel it's time to move on. I will take all the input I have gathered here and on other threads and see what happy medium the team can come up with for the next contest. Thanks again for all the input. PS - Sorry for my grammar, but english is not my native language and I have to admit I do have a few problems with it. Working on it though. |

1) It's not your fault we didn't hear about the contest, but that's the fact of the matter. We didn't know, and we had another way you could've reached us. 2) If your goal is to get players to another website instead of promoting your contest, you're upset about the wrong thing in your first post. If I looked at your signature and saw a link to tcgplayer, unless it was the biggest news in the world, I wouldn't go, because I don't go to that website. So you should be upset with people at tcgplayer for not participating, not VSsystem.org. 3) If you don't accept feedback from those you're trying to entice, you have no one to blame but yourself. |

You said you were disappointed in the turnout for the contest. I gave you a specific reason why that might be the case. You say you want people to go to TCGPlayer...fine. I hate the site even though it used to be my favourite portal for all things VS but then it completely went down the crapper. I was there a hell of a lot earlier and longer than you were and believe it or not I used to be a moderator there. The site lost my respect after the crash, especially after all the unnecessary changes they made and it was worthless when they used to get about 2 posts per day on there outside of random VS discussion so don't blame me if I haven't been there regularly in probably a couple of years. It went down the crapper and I moved onto VSRealms. VSRealms went down the crapper and now I'm here. Let me apologize for not accepting TCGPlayer back into my life with open arms. But you know what you could have done? This: http://forum.tcgplayer.com/showthread.php?t=160741 That's it. Just post a link in a thread on these forums. Seriously that's all you had to do and everyone on here would have at least been aware of the contest. |

Please don't fight about this guys. He said he appreciated your input, now stop. Thanks. Shadowtrooper, as I said earlier, I suggest that you delete this thread now. (There is a tab at the top of each thread where the author can delete. Go for it.)

Dude, don't go promoting that. For God's sake man these aren't your forums, don't try to impose your will on everyone. Most of all, don't encourage deleting of threads. I actually think that option should be disabled for everyone except the mods. Every thread, regardless of whether you agree with them or not are records of what goes on in these forums, positive or negative. If you're going to encourage anything, encourage closing the thread, not deleting. |

Surely you value my right to express my opinion, right? This thread has no value to the community, in my opinion, and it should be deleted. Who cares if this stuff stays around? Why is it important? The people involved have learned as much as they will learn and it serves no purpose at this point. In my opinion.

Why keep any thread? In my opinion none of them add any value to the community. Anybody says something I disagree with in my thread, I'll just delete the thread. Can't you see how quickly that might happen? I mean we haven't been here for 2 months and already you've deleted a couple of threads and you're trying to get someone else to delete one that you can't. Where's it gonna end? |

Oh, and trooper, the best thing to do? Not get too emotional about it. Sometimes you'll have smaller participation than you expect, sometimes you'll have larger than you can handle. The first thing to do is realize you can't control other people. You'll enjoy not banging your head against the wall. Let me know about your next contest.

Wow. I'm impressed. Here I was thinking you were going to prove how important your own posts are for history, but you expanded to include everybody. Props. As for the issue, let's say Realms crashed forever and all my 18,000 posts were gone forever along with everyone else. Too bad, so sad. No skin off my nose. Seriously, are you serious about these threads actually having any measurable importance beyond the ego of the person who types the words? Do you really think that a couple threads being deleted will start a slippery slope that will cause the erasure of the whole forum? Wow, again. You are impressive.

In a vacuum, no, none of the posts on these forums have any relevance. But that's taking things way out of context. Do I think that every thread and every post is important to the forums on their own? Yeah I do. I certainly don't want to make a bunch of posts in a thread and come back the next day to find out they've disappeared. Don't worry stu, I don't delude myself into thinking that any of my posts have any real importance or relevance to the world at large. |
