I'm going to be posting my 100 deck ideas for the community at large to help me refine. Rules: 1) Only 30 cards allowed per deck 2) Only 2 of any card allowed per deck 3) The decks are limited to 2 teams (and unaffiliated characters) 4) All non-character cards need to refer to the chosen teams (or no teams at all) 5) On-team tutors and pumps and tutors should be used over generic ones (i.e. Legionaires should use New Recruits, not Mobilize) 6) Marvel and DC Universes should be kept seperate when constructing the decks 7) These are ‘Kitchen Table’ decks, not ‘Pro Circuit’ Decks. They can be competitive, but the goal is fun! Evade your low drops to enable powerful high drops and plot twist effects. 2 Electric Eve, Live Wire 2 Tommy, Runaway 1 Artie, Arthur Maddicks 2 Tar Baby, Adhesive Ally 1 Leech, Inhibitor 1 Postman, Memory Thief 2 Healer, Life Giver 2 Storm, Leader of the Morlocks 1 Hump, Servant of Masque 2 Marrow, Gene Nation 1 Callisto, Morlock Queen 2 Bloodhound 2 Last Stand 2 Morlock Justice 2 Shrapnel Blast 2 Retribution 2 The Alley 1 The Hill Big Spooky Edit: -1 Artie -1 Caliban -1 Hump -1 Ape -2 Good Samaritan -2 Backs Against the Wall +1 Marrow +1 Storm +1 Tommy +1 Electric Eve +1 Tar Baby +1 The Hill +2 The Alley This deck looks to block attacks on four, five, and/or six with really big characters that are enabled by a field of evaded low drops. I haven't played the deck since MXM was new, but I think this is a pretty standard build! Edited by scottkthompson, Mar 10 2009, 08:40 PM.

Good Samaritan has awesome art of Healer by Michael Golden, but Team Spirit does a better job for free! Team Spirit: 1 cost Plot Twist MMK-219 If you control four or more stunned characters, recover a stunned character you control. Then, if you still control four or more stunned characters, recover another stunned character you control. |

Tommy is essential to obtaining the stunned-character momentum needed to get the most out of the evading Morlocks - I'd make her a 2-of. Backs Against The Wall is also a very, very useful consideration. |

gday, would you take out Ape for another Tommy? Do Morlocks go to seven ever? Their 4 ,5, 6 can all get pretty huge! bkwrds, I was on the fence about Team Spirit when originally building the deck. To have four stunned characters before hump hits the table you'd have to hit 1, 2, 3, and get a free Tommy onto the table - or underdrop. My roomate played Morlocks a lot, but I only did once or twice. Is it pretty easy to get four stunned characters or not? If you are slapping a couple of these together for your kids would you mind testing it out for me and letting me know if it would be a good fit? If so, I'll put 'er in! |

The point of Team Spirit is to recover your board if it's turn 5 and Storm and Marrow get stunned via attacking. Using Team Spirit allows you to evade less and save endurance, AND hurt your opponent more by engaging in combat. Also, it's handy on turn 4 if you've dropped an evader each turn (much easier with Tommy) and they've swung up with their 4 into Storm, leaving their 4 to dome you for their full attack. Team Spirit can save you 7-8 endurance that way. Gday is right, though, Backs is an even better card, and I'd give the two slots to Backs over Good Samaritan or Team Spirit. I would definitely cut Ape for another Tommy. Most decks don't run him (underdropping is fun when you can play cool cards like Hump) and I only run him because I loooove Alternate Wins. |

Also: I would cut 1 copy of Artie so I could run Sewer System, because your deck a) has _no_ flight and b) hidden hate is good times. I bring all these criticisms because Morlocks is an affiliation I am very passionate about. I really like the deck overall LOL. |

Like bkwrds, Morlocks is a deck that I'm pretty passionate about. Here's my $0.02: Characters - I agree that the 1-drops are key here. Two copies of Tommy is never bad; and Electric Eve can win games all by herself. While I love Healer at three, I would almost rather under drop Electric Eve and a 2-drop if I miss her on one. Caliban is a solid one-of in constructed, but seems unnecessary in this format. There are very few concealed characters that you need to worry about - certainly not enough to necessitate playing hidden hate. Storm is almost always a better play than Hump. First, Hump is way too conditional. Second, you need the free evasion from Storm to keep from burning yourself out of the game. Granted, Hump can get bigger. But the attack boost is largely irrelevant; and the two points of DEF is not enough of a benefit to justify making Hump your primary. Marrow and Callisto are both strong finishers. Unless you're playing against a very potent stall deck with plenty of life gain, you won't ever reach turn seven. Plot Twists/Locations - Recovery tricks are all good and well, but you don't really need them in this deck. Far better to strategically evade, then use Last Stand and Shrapnel Blast to keep from ever getting stunned in the first place. If you want recovery tricks, play The Alley. It's continuous KO protection with a nice burn effect in the bargain. It also helps ensure that your games don't go past turn six. Using Scott's deck as the framework, here's what I would play: 1 Artie, Arthur Maddicks 2 Electric Eve, Live Wire 2 Tommy, Runaway 1 Leech, Inhibitor 1 Postman, Memory Thief 2 Tar Baby, Adhesive Ally 2 Healer, Life Giver 1 Hump, Servant of Masque 2 Storm, Leader of the Morlocks 2 Marrow, Gene Nation 1 Callisto, Morlock Queen 2 Bloodhound 2 Last Stand 2 Morlock Justice 2 Shrapnel Blast 2 Retribution 2 The Alley 1 The Hill |

G'Day, I must apologize for omitting Backs Against the Wall. I had posted a 28 card deck because I forgot to add that card. Oops! I love Big Spooky's build, though it currently does not use Backs Against the Wall, so if anyone wants that one back in they'll have to make a good suggestion about what to remove (-1 Alley, -1 Morlock Justice?). Thanks everyone! |
