I'm going to be posting my 100 deck ideas for the community at large to help me refine. Rules: 1) Only 30 cards allowed per deck 2) Only 2 of any card allowed per deck 3) The decks are limited to 2 teams (and unaffiliated characters) 4) All non-character cards need to refer to the chosen teams (or no teams at all) 5) On-team tutors and pumps and tutors should be used over generic ones (i.e. Legionaires should use New Recruits, not Mobilize) 6) Marvel and DC Universes should be kept seperate when constructing the decks 7) These are ‘Kitchen Table’ decks, not ‘Pro Circuit’ Decks. They can be competitive, but the goal is fun! Mulligan for a Lost City and power-up the hell out of your characters! 2 Mystique, Raven 2 Quicksilver, Mercurial Speedster 2 Toad, Mortimer Toynbee 2 Mystique, Raven Darkholme 1 Magneto, Mutant Terrorist 2 Blob, Fred Dukes 1 Toad, Leapfrog 2 Quicksilver, Speed Demon 1 Magneto, Erik Lensherr 1 Mystique, Freedom Force 1 Blob, Freedom Force 1 Magneto, Master of Magnetism 2x The Uni-Power 2x Freedom Force 2x Insignificant Threat 2x Lost City 2x Avalon Space Station 1x Soul World 1x Underground Resistance This deck might suffer from the 30 card limit, but at least there's generic power-up cards like the one drop Mystique and The Uni-Power. Suggestions? There are a million variations of this deck! Big Spooky and Gambit07 Edit: -2 Nth Metal -2 Missapropriation +2 Global Domination +2 The Uni-Power Savant/Trooper/Spooky Edit: Removed Juggernaut from the character list and opened a spot +1 Soul World Trooper/Savant Edit -2 Global Domination +2 Freedom Force -2 Sabretooth, Feral Rage -1 Sabretooth, Victor Creed +2 Blob, Fred Dukes +1 Blob, Freedom Force Edited by scottkthompson, Apr 26 2009, 02:21 PM.

why not try to fit in layla miller-she knows stuff from marvel universe with the one drop mystique can easly bring two cards back to your hand for more pumps, and uni power could fit in here nicely, and instead of misappropriation maybe avalanched. |

Layla reads: Remove Layla Miller from the game -> Choose up to two character cards in your KO'd pile. Return each of them to your hand if you control a character with the same name as that card. Does she work from your hand or does she have to be in play? It never says 'use only if Layla is in your hand' like it does on cards like Blue Bettle. |

in play, I've used this card several times and the words may seem confusing at first. |

Darn! She'd be broken in this deck if it were a discard effect! |

I think to make this deck effective in a 30-card format, you need to keep a concentated focus of characters - maybe 4 or 5 different characters total. Here's what I came up with: 2 Mystique, Raven 2 Quicksilver, Mercurial Speedster 2 Toad, Mortimer Toynbee 1 Magneto, Mutant Terrorist 2 Mystique, Raven Darkholme 2 Sabretooth, Feral Rage 1 Toad, Leapfrog 1 Magneto, Erik Lensherr 2 Quicksilver, Speed Demon 1 Mystique, Freedom Force 1 Sabretooth, Victor Creed 1 Magneto, Master of Magnetism This probably isn't the best assortment of characters, but I was really trying to stick with the four villains from the original X-Men movie! ;) However, I was forced to splash Quicksilver at 2 and 5. Ya gotta stay away from Nth Metal. Yes... I know it's awesome in this deck, but rules is rules. Rather, Freedom Force is a good choice for the deck for random powerups. The ongoing effect is only relevant for one character in the deck, but it's still not a bad pick. Insignificant Threat is obviously amazing off-initiative. However, I don't think that Misappropriation is a strong enough play to justify. It can be back-breaking in the right situation, but those situations are usually few and far between. Far better (IMHO) is Global Domination. Most decks will be playing at least one or two locations, and Global Domination can completely wreck those decks. Two each of Lost City and Avalon Space Station should be pretty obvious. However, I think that you really also need two copies of Underground Resistance. Without any true search cards, you really want to have a card cycling engine to ensure that you hit your key cards. 2 Freedom Force 2 Global Domination 2 Insignificant Threat 2 Avalon Space Station 2 Lost City 2 Underground Resistance Anyway, that's what I came up with. |

Good point on layla I mentioned her because I run a freedom force power up deck and she is a one of in that deck. well it seemed like a good idea. I still think the uni power is a good card for this deck it gives flight, range attacks hidden area and powers up too. |

The Missappropriations were to move Nth Metals from character to character, but if you insist we stick to the rules (which is probably a really good idea), then both cards can come out. I'll throw Uni-Power and Global Domination in. I like Uni-Power over Freedom Force because, like you said, Freedom Force's ongoing effect is almost usless, but Uni-Power has a power-up and can give Quicksilver two shots in the hidden area, which can totally wreck CSA, MKKO, Hellfire, and other hidden area decks. Thanks guys! |

I have a few suggestions for the deck. 1) Sabertooth, Feral Rage is a beast of character; there is no doubt about it but he is not the appropriate character for this deck. Blob, Fred Dukes is. Here are my reasons for saying that. Sabretooth needs a discard of a character to see play, and while we do have Avalon in the deck that character discarded might be a possible power-up. Without a power up to protect him he is very easy to stun while defending. Blob on the other hand is a monster. Not Only will he protect characters like Pyro so that they can keep doing damage. His strong DEF means that players will try to make a team attack so that they can stun him (specially if the cat is out o' the bag), and when that happens you will be able to play Insignificant Threat to a greater success. 2) Global Domination? I thought that card was strictly a META choice for the mirror match, and I don't think we are going to be seeing this anytime soon here. Sure it also helps with other decks but I'm not sure this deck needs it. I would much rather see a card like Freedom Force in its place. 3) I have seen exceptions to the rules in other decks and while in general I like to keep to the rules Nth Metal was one of the reasons why a deck like this was so successful. It really sucks not being able to have that card in the deck. |

I agree with the Troop, -2 Sabretooth, Feral rage -1 Sabretooth, Victor Creed -2 Global Domination +2 Blob, Fred Dukes +1 Blob, Freedom Force +2 The Freedom Force ( it is a universal pump) Thats my 2 cents. Edited by vs_savant2, Apr 25 2009, 12:04 AM.

Thanks for the support savant. I like the changes you are suggesting. Now if only we could add Nth Metal. |

Plus what is Underground Resistance used for. I see that a little sifting is good. But maybe just putting in a Tutor might be better. Or another card to recover cards lost to the Ko'd pile like Soul World. |

Soul World and Freedom Force are in. I love the suggestion of Blob, but I also REALLY like Spooky's idea of sticking to the movie villains. When I present these to the kids that will probably really appeal to them! Edit: I also never thought about how good Toad would be in this build. Since he returns to hand he will serve as a power-up for the four drop (or a card to pitch to get a couple of Mystiques back). Edited by scottkthompson, Apr 26 2009, 03:05 AM.

Considering Blob is going to be in the Wolvie Origins flick I don't think it's going to be that hard to get the kids to recognize him. |
