If I could get something together, I am curious who would be interested in participating in a weekend of tournaments located in a central location in NC that would be fair access to all neighboring states.
The format would be decided in the next couple of weeks if I find out that enough people are interested in this. Prize support would be substantial and yes I will be giving up my EA Mobilize as 1st place prize support=). Other prize support would also be decided in the coming weeks. If this tournament would be put together I would intend to hold the constructed part on May 2nd and Draft or Sealed on May 3rd(Draft or Sealed will be MEV and I can almost promise you that this will be the only time 3-Drop Blink will be legal at the event).
This tournament is just a thought at this time, but I know I can put it together IF I know for a fact that at least 20 people will show up.
So does the South still have atleast 20 people that would be interested in a weekend of fun filled Vs tournament.
Let's discuss the idea of this if you all are interested,
Kj

Ok I have one guy that is interested from central NC and I have been told to try and get a hold of some guys in VA at a shop that still play Vs regularly. This tournament might actually be possible. I know of 4 guys in Wilson, NC that would almost 100% go to it, but one of those guys would be the Head Judge as he is a good friend of mine and is a Level 2. So that is 3 players, the one other guy I have been in contact with from Raleigh making it 4 players and I need to find out how many guys up in VA would be interested in participating in a tournament.
Now I need to decide on a format.
Ok sorry thinking and sharing information out loud=),

I could get me and up to 3 others normally.... just not that weekend. Gonna be visiting family Ohio. Stinking pregnant sister keeping me away from VS. What's another nephew as opposed to playing a VS tourny? haha. Don't change plans on my account but know that I would definitely be interested.

I would be interested in a tournament in NC as well, but I will be in Richmond that weekend for the race. Are there any other weekends that could work?

It is still in development guys. This tournament is going to be planned for just us die hard players. If I have to move the tournament to one week later it won't be a problem. As I said it is still in the planning part. I know I have my friend Gabe (Level 2 Judge) that I will need to check with about his available dates but I know for a fact if he has nothing going on he will be there. He loves Vs as much as any of us that are still around. So what if we called it for the second week in May (May 9th). Also would you guys rather do a constructed tournament with a Top 8 Draft instead of two separate days of Vs(this way no one has to stick around over night for Sunday if they want to draft).
What are your feelings on it,
Kj

I like the idea of Constructed tourney with draft for top 8, just makes things fairer and more appealing for the people that travel. Are you thinking of having the tourney in Wilson? We can might convince the guys from Groovy Geckos to come down and play, its 3 hours, but its for VS damn it ;0

I also think i can get Eric to come with me, you might remember him looks like Taz from WWE, he got out of Vs for WOW but I'm sure i could get him to come and supply him with a deck

Also I have some nice comic book related stuff I can donate as prizes or door prizes if you like. Spider-man lithograph that is the cover to Ultimate Spider-man #1 some busts, and some pewter figures of superman, batman, savage dragon and green lantern, if it will help drum up interest

What are you thinking for Constructed?

I personally think some form of Golden Age with a restriction to keep all the stupid decks out would be best. Like bring your own two team, but they do not start the game teamed up, you can only build your deck from two affliations

I would definitely be up for this, it would be about a 3 hr drive for me, but I can bring 2-3 other people as well.

My vote would be Silver Age. If you don't want people to play Exiles, errata Blink out like the tourney in NY.

Also, I would be willing to donate EA's/Rares into a prize pool. If it's definitely on, I can possibly dig up some old comics as well.

Did any of you guys ever play the Alter Ego format when it was around for MTU. If so, and you liked it would you guys be up for the format being the new Alter Ego DC Golden. You would choose one of the Alter Ego cards that I designed (I designed the artwork but the actual text came from UDE as HeroComplex, the guy who pretty much wrote the rules for Vs, provided the text) and your deck can be made up of any DC cards.
Just an idea I am throwing out there. Oh and knowing that I can get this many people to attend I am 99% sure that we will be having it=). Especially considering I still have not hit up the "Greenville Crew" and there is atleast 3-4 of those guys that still play.
And for those interested in the Alter Ego cards. Here are the DC ones:

So what are your guys opnions on the Alter Ego format. And if you do not prefer the Alter Ego idea don't hesitate to say something. I just thought for the Constructed part it would be a good format as it is something different and would be entertaining, including we could play a Golden Age format without having to worry about crazy unbeatable decks or making up our own errata's(*cough* Exiles *cough*);-).
Let me know what you think,
Kj
P.S: The tournament MIGHT be in Wilson if the Hobby Shop doesn't mind. If not I will front the bill to rent a place to hold it.

I probably wouldn't travel for an Alter Ego event, sorry. Those just never seemed like fun to me, I would prefer some sort of age-oriented event.

Just my opinion.

That's cool trader. I think it would be harder to get people to come to that type of event but I just wanted to throw it out there. There will definitely be an age oriented event we just have to decide what will bring the most people. I have had three request for a Golden Age type event and I have had one Silver Age request. I want to do a Golden Age type event but I don't want it to be unrestricted. Do any of you guys have a problem with a Golden BYOTT. For those who do not know what that is it is Golden Age Bring Your Own Two Teams. For anybody that doesn’t know how the format works it is Golden Age and you pick any two teams who are considered to be crossed-over and can only use cards that reference one of those two teams. This keeps decks like High Voltage and QuickFate decks at bay while providing a fun and interesting tournament.
Let me know how any of you feel about this,
Kj

I like the Alter Ego format, but not as a the main event for a multi state tournament, if a lot of people showed up and you wanted to run a side event I think the Alter Egos would be okay for that.

I liked BYOTT I just do not think the teams should be automatically teamed up. And generics allowed

The problem with allowing generics is we will just end up with a QuickFate or some other ridiculously fast(Exiles) beat down deck show up.
Hmmmmm...Still thinking=). I will let you guys know something soon,
