I guess my post got lost, there were 18 in constructed also (4 different people from sealed).

Billy beat Ludin in Round 4, I would have done a match report but by the time I got my notebook turned on it was over on turn 4 (he was running quickcheats).

There were 8 teams (16 people) in the last event of the evening, The Twin-Headed Giant (or whatever you want to call it). Billy and I ran MKO (obv) and IG Army. Our game plan was sound... if we stuck to it... 2-man is also hard because the turns take so long since there's even more options each turn.

It's a great format... although Supes-5 is the borks... and we faced a Mesmero almost every round.

Patrick and Bean ran a great event... Vs is still the best game evar!

TDB won Sealed.

I'm not sure who won Constructed.

Minh/Dennis won TwinHead with a "Qward" combo... you can't win if you can't attack!

No decklists for you... at least not from me!

Just got back in from SFO.

Wanted to thank everyone there who made it so enjoyable. So fun and so funny - baby bears hahaha - It was an awesome tournament Patrick, an I hope circumstances will allow me - and more of us from the North to attend it.

The Ultimates deck was Wolverine based. It looked like three drop Wolverine Ultimates with a Muramasa Blade along with Triskellion/Berseker Rage to keep clearing your board. Cyclops and Hawkeye for more board control.

The ten rings deck was I think F4 based. Everything else is about just what it sounds

Super X-Over Sealed:

DC: DC Origins, Crisis, DLS, JLA, and DC Legends
Marvel: Marvel Origins, X-Men, Heralds, Marvel Team-Up, Marvel Legends

(Ran out of World's Finest so we subbed in JLA)

Everyone who entered received a raffle ticket, and that determined whether you were Marvel or DC (odd number was Marvel, even number was DC), 9 on each side. There happened to be a "God Box" (read: 5 RARES in every pack!) of DC Origins amongst us so I had to take away a couple of packs and replace with "normal" packs. After the first couple of rounds, there was some murmurings that Marvel was too strong. Well, after the 6th, and last, round the standings were:

1. DC
2. DC
3. DC
4. DC
5. DC
6. Marvel

1st - Paul Sung
2nd - Omar Erazo
3rd - Travis Frazier
4th - Luis De Santiago

We also had raffles almost every round and gave away:

-2 Heralds deckboxes
-Wolverine cutout stand
-Vs. vinyl banner
-Infinite Crisis Collector's box

Also had 2 win-a-pack rounds where the winner of each game received a Web of Spider-Man (punishment?) pack and the other was a Marvel Universe pack.

After their first round bye, the 3 qualifiers, Paul, Omar and Ludin each gave up 0, 1 and 3 packs, respectively (bounty packs remember).

All in all, it was a successful format, ran smoothly and 18 players entered, with the Marvel vs. DC aspect definitely adding more fuel to the fire.

Silver Age Constructed (Blink 3-drop banned):

There were 18 players in this as well, with 4 new players entering. As usual, everyone who entered received a raffle ticket. We gave away:

-JLA deck tin (Wonder Woman/Superman)
-Green Lantern deck tin (GL Corps)
-Avengers deck tin (Iron Man)
-Wolverine cutout stand

Metagame was:

3 Weapon X
2 SHIELD (1 Curve and 1 Burn)
2 Trinity.dec (Gotham Knights/JLA)
1 JLA Control
1 MKO
1 Illuminati/Spider-Friends
1 X-Babies Rush
1 Runaways
1 T-Bolts
1 Ultimates
1 Crime Lords
1 Syndicate/Inhumans
1 Equipment.dec (FF/MK/Ten Rings)
1 JLA/T-Bolts Ramp (Back From the Dead)

Top 8 was (by order of finish in Swiss):

1. JLA/GK 6-0
2. Ultimates 5-1
3. SHIELD Burn 4-2
4. MKO 4-2
5. JLA Control 4-2
6. Equipment.dec 4-2
7. Illuminate/Spider-Friends 3-3
8. Inhumans/Syndicate 3-3

Only Omar was able to keep his packs among the 3 qualifiers.

The Top 4 was:

GK/JLA
JLA Curve

Illuminati
SHIELD Burn

Finals:

GK/JLA
Illuminati/Spider-Friends

Winner: GK/JLA

1st - Omar Erazo
2nd - Paul Sung (TheDerangedBear)
3rd - Kenny Phan
4th - Ken Williams (Kariggi)

As you can see, Omar and Paul again finished 1-2. It was a fun and diverse tournament, Silver Age is far from being stale. Congrats to all who Top 8'd.

Marvel and DC Two-Headed Mutant (Golden Age):

There 8 teams who entered (16 players). There were some confusion to some of the rulings, but basically it's more like a free-for-all multi-player game with teammates. With that in mind, Superman 5-drop is really strong, as is Mesmero, Ronan, Lex Luthor as they prevent both opposing player from playing PTs.

1st - Dennis and Minh (Spider-Friends and Anti-Matter/Revenge Squad)
2nd - Andrew and Christine (JLA/GK and Weapon X)
3rd - Billy and Erick (War Paint and MKO)

Dennis and Minh went 4-0 with a combination of Human Torch and Qward/Revenge Squad to stun the board by reducing the defense to 1 or less.

This format has potential to be really fun as we saw some really cool and crazy interactions (among on the board and between teammates). There is a lot of strategy in this format and was the most popular and talked about event of the weekend. Maybe with some tweaks (maybe start at 100 endurance) this could be a regular thing.

All in all, the event was a success. We had probably 25-30 unique players there, with players coming from San Diego, Inland Empire, and even Bay Area (thanks, Paul!). We even had a little carnival game involving dice where you could win EAs, packs and even booster boxes (they called it gambling, haha). It was a big hit and 2 booster boxes were eventuall won as the day ended.

On a more serious note, I wouldn't normally do this, but since I am a business owner now (and this is my LIFE), I feel I have to get this point across. There is absolutely NO ALCOHOL allowed in the store, nor is it allowed just outside the door. Cops constantly pull people over in the parking lot and patrol the area regularly as it is a hot spot for "illegal activity."

With that said, it was a great day for Vs. and the game is alive and kicking and I am looking forward to another event like this. Thanks to all the Vs faithful and the great people who make this game what it is.
