On another serious note, did anyone find my deck? I would hate to think that someone stole it. |

It was interesting to be on the other side in my ex-store. It was great seeing all these players who I would see every once in a while during the PCQ days and who would usually come out for the big events for Vs. There were even trophies for the 2 main events... so awesome. I think the twin-headed format is my favorite just because of the interaction between teammates and opponents. It doesn't hurt when you play someone who you have tons of inside jokes with ("Ye-ahhhh!") and although it may get tense at times (Supes-5 is borks Andrew!) it's very fun and casual format. Next time we should run a twin-headed sealed/superX format so every game is different (instead of facing Mesmero/WonderWoman/Supes-5 infi times). Billy: Stick to the plan! |

Thank you very much for a very fun event Patrick, it was one of the funnest events ever, I had a fantastic time! Got to see people I used to see at PCQ's!! Wish I had seen a few more... It was kind of neat! I attended all three events in So Cal, I don't really do reports but I do have pictures from all of them but am still waiting for my camera back from 4 color! =( However here are the shots from the Cult and So Cal VS Day itself! Hope you all enjoy them! http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc155/american_maid/?newest=1 Edited by American Maid, Oct 26 2009, 04:39 AM.

Oh yeah... and mad props to the TDB for being the lone NorCaler... and for letting me borrow his MKO deck (which he left behind). Where did you go? Did you really stay at the airport that night? |

He stayed with Omar. Found the deck by the way, someone "accidentally" put it in their bag. I asked everyone if they saw my deck an no one answered. w/e. |

I would also like to recognize the following people who played in all 4 events (Random Punks, Sealed Main Event, Constructed Main Event, Two-Headed Mutant): Christine Williams (AmericanMaid) Dennis Ramirez These two are the Super Soldiers of Vs. Ludin Romero (Ludin) and Omar Erazo (M4g0) also should be on here, but they did not get to compete in the last event due to Ludin's deck missing. Lastly, a special thanks and congratulations to Paul Sung for not only being the player who traveled the farthest, but also for justifying the long trip with a 1st and 2nd place finish in both main events. |

I don't know, didn't ask, probably for the best. I'm pretty sour about having to miss out the tournament cause someone else "took" my deck and didn't bother to help me out when i was going around asking, and Paul asking a 3rd time. |

It was a great day, I'd like to give mad props to Dennis who wins the deck of the day award from me at least. 10 rings mad draw something like a 16 attack 5 drop Ghost Rider next to a 10/10 4 drop Hank Pym and then Mr. Fantastic at 6, if he'd hit any drops on me early I don't think I would have pulled it through, but for creative powerful deck building and concept I have to give the win to Dennis, his was the deck of the Day, again at least for me. |

Yeah, Dennis and family are the VS Clan. I played his son Nick to test out the MKO build and he was running the Deadpool Legend. Having 7-drop Ryan Reynolds swinging at me twice for infi attack hurts the pee-pee. In the team event, I warned Billy about it but he was not a believer. Then he swung at us like 3 times and made it a 50 point swing to make us poosers... but at least my 0/1 Black Cat took him out... heh. |

Hey all! This is the other Dennis (from the now famous Minh/Dennis team). I just joined this board because I realized one of the reasons I've never minded making the drive from San Diego for these events is all of you. Over the years I've gotten really used to your familiar faces, and you've made every experience great for me (This one especially cuz I won). I love Vs., and I love being around other passionate fans of the game. Thanks again for making the effort to get me up and down those stairs (next time, downstairs please). Means a lot to me. I'll post our team decks when I get off work for anyone who's interested. We really put a lot of thought into the synergy between Revenge Squad/Anti-matter's minus def mechanic and Spidey's stall/minus atk (Feminine Wiles) ability. The Human Torch, Firewall, Heatwave, and Collateral Damage only got added on Friday (thanks Chi). The whole machine just makes Press the Attack too easy, which I was actually pretty sloppy with on that last game. After Spidey and Torch had swung unstunned, I should have teamed Shanna & Kazar into a char with 0 def (Vengeance), then stacked Press and Heatwave mid-combat. Woulda had 3 ready attackers to play with. Oh well. Live and learn. |

Oh... and one more thing... I would really like to congrat Pat on how much thought and preparation he put into his first big Vs event. This was probably way more organized and thought out then our MegaWeekend. The formats were properly balanced between competitive and casual. The Marvel v DC SuperX Sealed was such a cool idea and then bringing that same Marvel/DC aspect to the Twin-Headed format was genius. In the beginning, he asked me to help plan this but what he came up with on his own was great. Bean kept it running smoothly and after being there, it really emphasized that this game needs to continue to have events like these for the players who still play Vs. I was a bit sad to not see players there who use to play a lot before (I'm talking to you Game Empire and NJoy players) but maybe they'll show up next time. Pat wanted me to help run it but I'm really glad I got to play instead because I forgot how fun this game (although tiring) really is. Next time I'll make sure I don't have other stuff scheduled during the day so I can be there for the earlier events too. |
