Been reading and commenting on other posts and been a member here for over a year and a half, so best put down my formalities here.

I am Darrell. I live in the main European port city of Rotterdam, Netherlands. I was born in Alberta Canada and have been in Europe for 10 years. I have been playing VS since '95 and love it.
I am an artist, and a general liver of life, I live with my partner, and she and I have been together for over 12 years; no kids.
I went to University for my Psychology degree as well as my Philosophy degree. My art portfolio is currently not online, but I am working at fixing that

I am an avid Movie buff, one might say it is near a religious experience for me.

I used to play hockey and used to fight amateur in K1 events. I cycle, hike camp and love survival games

Whatever happened to drinking a lot of water, doing daily exercise and eating salad instead of steak twice a week?
For gamers... it became drinking a lot of soda, doing daily MMORG and eating pizza instead of steak twice a week.

All I can say is enjoy staying active while you're young... once you get old like me, the injuries make it harder to keep the fat away.

yeah, injuries suck balls. I have been keeping as active as I can, but with a damaged back from a MMA practice accident, dislocated knee from a cycling mishap, and early onset ligament disorder in my hands has made it difficult, but I push through. I suppose it all comes down to how much motivation you have and who you are doing it for. I do it all for myself as i do not want to be in a wheel chair or one of those really slow shuffling old men when I am 60

Sorry to hear that you were laid off.. Unfortunately, that happens quite often these days. On the other hand, i'm glad you were able to move back to California and that you are enjoying it. Hopefully you will find the time to play!

Thanks man it does suck but on the bright side I am around my family again for the first time in almost 10 years. The company I worked for was bought out and shutdown.

When I get a job I will be able to go to the bay area or Sacramento to find players, but I am starting to teach my 6 year old to play, just the numbers right now he does not read well yet but the boy is sharp so soon he will be beating me [laugh] .

It's weird. The small structural engineering consulting company I work for was bought out last April by KBR (Kellogg, Brown and Root), a company with over 50,000 employees and we've been expanding like crazy over the last year. Since we got bought out we've increased our size by over 25% (from 30 to 38 people) and I think the plan is to increase to about 50 by the end of the year.

I do miss being a part of a small company but in the business world, especially in this sort of economy, beggars can't be choosers.

Yeah the company that bought us out was only in it for the product. They said that the company was losing money when we had a 20% positive in sales for the quarter, also I lived in Oklahoma were is is real cheap to manufacture parts(I made dental implants). Also they got rid of all of our inventory by accident they said???, and they made us work all the time to catch up(12 hour days and weekends). When all they were doing was getting an inventory for the move when they shut down the company.

We all knew something was up when the started firing all the people that made the company work so well we just did not want to believe something was wrong.
I wish it would have been different but I am glad to be around my family again.
