This occured around 5 years ago. As of December 29th this year I would have fulfilled my 6 year contract and been freed. People ask me all the time would you do it differently and stay in. My answer to them EVERYTIME is a resounding HELL NO. Military life is for some people and I respect that but me? I was made to be a civilian and proud of it. Anytime someone ask me what my opinion is about joining the Air Force once they found out I was in it I tell them the same thing. I wouldn't join unless you can go in as an Officer. Now that is a whole different ballgame in the Air Force, at least it was when I was in. If I would have went in as an Officer I probably would have enjoyed it. Including the pay isn't bad either unlike the Enlisted people.

something better than just 72 virgins
I often wonder why the hell they want virgins, or so vaguely describe them. I mean what if you get a mixed batch of male and female virgins, and you are strictly heterosexual? What if you get 72 male virgins and are strictly heterosexual? Heck what if you get 72 female virgins and they are ugly as hell? Even if you get 72 beautiful female virgins they are still virgins. Me, I rather get woman who know what the hell they were doing.

Especially since, please correct me if I am wrong and do not take offense to this.. That in Islam women are regarded differently than men, so do they go the the same heaven or a different heaven, and if it be a different heaven, ho will their be 72 female virgins in the man-heaven.

Man-heaven in all forms of religion have one thing in common, no stupid questions.............and Hotdogs from Chicago.

Also remember people Christianity is a religion of hope, Jesus came to tell us about a place better than this Earth that we will go after this life. And he didn't come to create religion man created it, all what Jesus did was bring the path to God through Love and Repentance, and to make him your only and true Savior!

[confused2] Correct me if I'm mistaken, but if I tell you I came here to make me your true savior and to give you a set of ground rules to live by, didn't I create religion?

72 women who know what they are doing in bed?
He didn't bring religion that's why he didn't abide by the Jewish religious rules what he brought was a relationship between Man and God! When Adam and Eve sinned in Eden they broke that bridge between Man and God, then Jesus came and rebuilt it.

second, it isn't impossible to get 72 virgins here on earth so why would such a place like "Heaven", only offer a whole life of pain and suffering only that...doesn't make any sense!

Maybe our interpretations are differing a little here.... isn't a "bridge between man and god" the very definition of "religion"?

And 72 virgin women = "lifetime of pain and suffering"? Hmmm, yeah I suppose so, no arguments here [laugh]

Hey guys lets let go of the religion debate/talking. It can only lead to an eventual argument when someone gets offended. I am a Christian and I respect everyones personal choices in that department but lets leave this debate for somewhere other than the message boards.
Just hate to see a couple of members get offended by the other,

72 virgins is a conceptual paradise, w/e.

Broken relationship with god out of eden, then what about all the old testament communication mano-a-godo w/e

I got one for you, why do christians follow the 10 commandments "supposedly" and blow off the whole rest of the old testament.

Oh wait no they can find good reason to hate their too, but will suck down dead pig while wearing clothing of multiple fabrics.

I was born Chatholic, I don't hate any folk for their religion just their hypocracy.

Sorry all bad day.

All right, sorry for giving the religion stuff sass, I just often wonder if people know what they are saying in those statements. Let's stop having either pro or con debates on religion; it's not the focus of this.

Good posts evildave and KJ.. It is probably best that we get away from the religion discussion before this thread turns into a war! lol

I posted earlier in this thread saying my dream is to be a professional hockey player.. Well last night I was given the opportunity to play with some minor league hockey players(still professionals). I am a goalie, and let's just say their shots were insane! I played very well though.. Who knows maybe some doors will be opened.. Wish me luck =)

I'm serving my second tour in the air force right now . I joined when i was 25, having had several different jobs ranging from food service, construction, and costumer service.

and one thing I can say is that no mater what job you have, people are f**king idiots. whither in the military or a civilian job, you are going to have stupid ass bosses, and co-workers and costumers.

I'd also be leery of judging an entire career field based off of one work section in one base. I have had jobs in the air force i loved, and jobs i hated, i've had good bosses in bad jobs and good jobs and vice versa.

Military service isn't for everyone, but niether is alot of jobs. But the amount of benefits I receive- espeicially for my family, my daughter has special needs, and without the military, I'd be in deep shit. I'm going to college for free, 100% of TA is paid. Free Health care.

If you can stand the basic training and tech school, after that most places are a cake walk.

Good luck :). Yeah, it's rough going for the big leagues. Last week I made a decision to get some pretty serious singing work going. My voice is TERRIBLE right now; but really more than any other theater I love musical theater. I know I can do anything I try for; but when two of the other actors in my play did Karoeke, they did "Voul Le Vou" Sister Soul (from Moulin Rouge) and did a FAR better job than the original. It's one of those things that may have driven me away in the past; I used to think because I couldn't get more than minor rolls in plays or because I was fat (well, was back then) I couldn't get into the theater. So I guess I quit for 15 years running away :). Now it inspires me to try to beat them, so gotta go after it, live the dream etc etc. I should have lost the weight and made myself a better actor rather than complained it was not fair and quit. I won't let myself give up on dreams again, and you shouldn't either.

"Voul Le Vou"
Voulez-vous. It means do you want. Hence the line in the song:

Voulez-vous coucher avec moi, ce soir meaning do you want to sleep with me tonight.
