S.T.R.I.P.E. + Underground Laboratory; Does it work?

Exhausted JSA defenders you control have reinforcement.

Underground Laboratory

Exhaust a [Crime Lords Icon] defender you control with reinforcement -> Draw a card.

I don't know if it works.

I think that a defender gets "reinforced" status when exhausted BUT when you exhaust him to draw a card it hasn't that characteristic yet.

I mean: STRIPE's effect is a continuous effect that works WHEN a character IS exhausted (has the "exhausted" characteristic). Underground Laboratory, from what I understand, requires to exhaust a READY character with reinforcement to be used.

Am I wrong? I'd like to be wrong, actually.

I'm much too tired to back this up with a lot of thought or research.

Here's my initial thought:

If Underground Laboratory said "Exhaust a Crime Lords defender you control. -> If it has reinforcement, draw a card." STRIPE would work well the card.

As it is, you don't have a reinforced character to exhaust until the character himself is exhausted. It doesn't seem like you have the element you need to pay the cost.

Underground Lab is amazing with Catcher's Mitt, Sentinel Mark V or anything else that gives blanket reinforcement.

A little more fun, and less "exhaustive". Is to play Wonderwoman(Earth 2) and the location Earth 2. This does not require a team up or to have exhausted characters. .

And like Bkwrds said, the STRIPE combo does not work, the characters need reinforcement before you can exhaust them.

Quicksilver on 4 instead, Characters you control have reinforcement while Quicksilver is ready.

Good call. When your interaction doesn't work, it helps to check if broken MEV has anything that helps. He can exhaust to draw and then energize, too.

Torchy is defenders only, so as long as you don't care when you get the card draw it's fine.

Luckily MEV provides an untouchable answer to all of this in Calliban :).

Underground Lab specifies defender so either way it wouldn't matter.
