Tournament is single-elimination (if you get knocked out, you can then put your name down for the next tournament, which will start as soon as we have enough people ... so you won't have to sit out that long). Spaces are limited but if demand markedly increases, we might be able to increase future tournaments to 16 players (looks like there's a chance of hitting 16 here). How it works ... You get paired at the start of the week and then have to arrange with the other player a time to play during that week. The loser then reports the results back to the Tournament Organiser (TO). Players have to submit a deck list to the TO via PM prior to being paired for round one. That deck has to be played unchanged for the duration of the tournament (all decklists will be published at the end of the tournament to ensure there's no shiftiness). The TO creates the pairings and notifies everyone by PM. It's then up to the players to sort it out. In the case of non-attendances or any disputes, the TO's judgement is final. Obviously a collegial approach to playing (especially in game where there wouldn't be any independent judges) is required, which shouldn't be hard since there's nothing on the line but pride. Post if you want to play. TO - Michael Pittman AKA ikeebear (michael.pittman[at]guild.org.au) 1. Majin_homer_jay 2. kingfish 3. carlosthedwarf 4. TheDerangedBear 5. Villain 6. CapAp 7. Morpheus1981 8. Brick Wallace 9. bkwrds 10. EvilDave 11. KardKrazy 12. Vader 13. 14. 15. 16. Alternate 1: Alternate 2: Proposed starting date - Monday 7 December (or 14 December if it takes a while to fill the player spots). Decklists would me due to me via PM by Sunday 6 December) Format - MEV Only. Additionally, Mobilize is legal. All UDE and Vssystem.org card bans apply (i.e. Blink [3] is banned in addition to official bans). Tournament details - Single elimination. Best of three matches (although variations can be arranged if both players agree, i.e. single game matches). Finally, I'd love to hear suggestions for future formats. Was this one any good? What about #1. Edited by Ike E Bear, Dec 5 2009, 01:48 AM.

I'm interested. If it's only an 8-man again I'd gracefully bow out so a new player can play. Sounds like fun, though. |

Same. Love to get another crack at it, but I can wait if other people want to get in on it. Future formats? Hmmmmm... |

Yeah - The Dwarf is in! (But would also be willing to sit this dance out if too many others sign up.) |

The waiting is killing me. Can I just win now? j/k Yeah, not that I'm a two-timer, but I am sometimes opportunistic and if while I'm involved one tourney and another tourney is givin me that lustful eye... We are all players here after all. |

I'd like to join, but I am still an MWS noobie and I might be a pain to play with.

Updated. Thanks for the quick and enthusiastic response. As for the guys who have offered to step aside for new players if necessary ... we'll play it by ear. If we get enough interest then we might try to expand it out to 16 players. Similarly, #3 will probably start just a few days after #2, so there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to play. No need to be too noble too early. If some new players come along and are stuck as alternates, you can switch with them no worries. CapAp - I'm a MWS noob too. Hopefully after this system is up and running someone will help me out with the TO'ing and I can play myself ... the best way to learn is to play and practice, so don't make any apologies. Just enjoy yourself. |

Yeah CapAp - I think about 50% of us are rather new to it. Many just joined in the last few months or so. My advice = practice in "solo" mode first to make sure you have a grasp on drawing, discarding, shuffling, laying down/peeking at resources, etc. After you've done that and feel comfortable, come here and challange a friendly face to a game. Scott, Vader, Baldman, KardKrazy, myself, and many others around here - we're all cool cats who don't mind if you take a little longer in the beginning. |

Thanks guys, I appreciate that. I used to play games on ccgworkshop, so the interface hasn't been too much trouble to get the hang of solo. I'm just not sure what the standard practices are as far as explaning what you're doing to the other player and so forth. By the way, I assume "MEV only" means that a deck can only include cards from the MEV set? |

Yes, with the exception of Mobilize. Additionally, Blink (3) is banned. |

It doesn't take long to get the hang of MWS. I for one would not mind being assigned a game with someone who has not played with MWS before. |

I'd like to make a proposal: Winner of each tournament gets to propose the format of the next "new" tournament. Within reason. That way we're playing for something - if I win I can make you all play a format where JLI is included, or whatever it may be. A small prize, but a prize nonetheles. |
