Anyone else here ever play Battle Stations from Gorilla Games the SciFi one where you run a crew battling and boarding other space ships?

Because this game has inspired me so, and none of you were there playing VS. Here is my GameX 2011 & Battlestations report. Were any of you there doing something else?

Re: Gamex 2011: After Action Report
This was my first time attending Gamex, in fact despite role-playing for 30+ years it was the first gaming convention I went to where all my time wasn't consumed by a Pro-Circuit card game, and it was great. I went Sunday only as I have a regular game on Saturdays, and Jeff Siadek the creator of Battlestations was revealing his "Giant" Battlestations game (an oversized convention version in 3D) at 4pm that day. I couldn't be happier that I went, the atmosphere was fun and friendly, if I had had no other plans there were plenty of folks offering a spot at a table to play what looked like a host of good games, but I had my eye on the prize, and it was time well spent.

American Maid and our two children attended with us and we all joined the game. Jeff even statted up a new character for my youngest (7) when she became attached to the Pink Ball of Fluff that represented a Whistler one of the many races in Battlestations, and one that didn't already have a character sheet ready to go on the table. My oldest (9) got to be the star of the show as one of the ships two engineers, pumping the engines for more power, reconfiguring my Marine's cannon, repairing it when it blew up, and keeping track of the ships control sheet. I got in a few good shots, and we saved the earth from the Evil Bots trying to enslave the human race, even if it required us ramming their ship as a last ditch effort with two of our Marines on board (the only casualties -- but their clones recieved appropriate awards for the sacrafice of their last lifes).

Overall I would go again, and I would take any opportunity I got to play Battlestations again the whole crew bonded well and we all had a great time.

We had so much fun my oldest daughter insisted we pick up "The Planet of Dr. Moreau" a rather silly looking adventure for Battlestations that I had ignored in the past. How wrong I had been and how right she was, we made characters and played the first adventure from it this weekend. I will never judge an adventure by the cover again, it is well written and realy got all of us into the feel of the game, the feel of the game being crazy fun, and this time the youngest girl got to be the star, I can't wait till next weekend when we break out that box again and play adventure 2.

Thank you GameX and
Thank you Jeff Siadek (Gorilla Games)

This will be a memory (and game) my family cherishes for a life time.

Shameless plug if you want to ridicule my proofreading my credit appears for such in the most recent Battlestations supplement "How Much for Your Planet" A gazetteer of the Battlestations galaxy, more races, missions and adventures, including all the rules you need to run a merchant trader in the Battlestations universe.

I mention it because I love the game (board game meets RPG) and well since I only gave the thing a cursory passover as a favor wasn't expecting to see my name there and uh well, I only gave it a pass over so there should be opportunities a plenty to ridicule my poor work, and to make yourselves feel superior to me, or to confirm what you already had complete confidence in.

Last 8 hours in this already funded kickstarter -

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gorillagames/battlestations-second-edition-classic-board-game-r

From the Creator:
Battlestations is a multi-map board game that simultaneously features ship-action in space AND the events on board the ships involved in the conflicts. Several video games like FTL have emulated this concept, but Battlestations is still the true original, and still the only board game that puts you on board a starship with ongoing adventures for your characters learn from and grow.

The game rules are very simple but they allow for complex RPG-like imaginative choices like teleporting to an enemy ship, hacking their helm controls and steering their ship towards a black hole before ejecting yourself out the air lock.

I love Starfleet Battles for the space combat but it doesn't depict what is actually happening on board the ships. Space Hulk and several other games allow for movement around a ship, but the ships themselves don't move. So in 1999 my brother Jason Siadek and I planned to develop a video game, which proved too expensive, and so Battlestations the board game was born.

Battlestations has been slowly building a loyal community over 16 years and I've been hard at work preparing this brand new edition. It is the full realization of my ultimate vision, and the culmination of my abilities as a designer, writer, and wide-eyed adventurer.
