Hey!

My playgroup has decided that we would like to put together some legend decks. I've made a few of these before, so I was looking for something new but there weren't any decks that were really calling me. So... I decided to break out my Iron Man Clone deck and try to optimize it. The decklist is below.

I mulligan for Crisis on Infinite Earths clearly because it is necessary for the deck to function but also because there is no way to search for it.

Any help, thoughts, comments that you can provided will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Characters:
4x Jaime Reyes <> Blue Beetle, High-Tech Hero
4x Lockjaw, Inhuman's Best Friend
4x San, The Alienated One
1x Dr. Strange, Secret Avenger
1x Mr. Fantastic, Protector of the Power Gem
4x Iron Man, Earth-2020
4x Iron Man, Mighty Avenger
2x Iron Man, Ultimates
1x Iron Man, Protector of the Reality Gem
2x Iron Man, Invincible
2x Iron Man, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plot Twits:
4x Uncertain Legacy
4x Secret Government
4x Crisis on Infinite Earths, Team-Up
1x Clash of Worlds
3x Cover Fire

Locations:
4x Stark Armory
4x New Baxter Building

Equipment:
4x Extremis Upgrade
2x Hulkbuster Armor
1x Mind Gem

Total Cards: 60

I think you said it in your mulligan sentence. Having a deck fall apart if you don't draw 1 of 4 cards in time is not good.
If you don't want to include any of the 10 or so characters that search for a team-up, make room for a couple of teamworks just going from 4 to 6 of an essential card makes a dramatic reduction in the chances of missing it.

I haven't played the deck, but with 8 search cards for Iron Man, i can't believe you need that many iron men in the deck. 4 of the 3 drop to get it rolling yes, but beyond that i wouldn't have thought you need that many.

Good point... I did some more thinking and as you said and I both said I need the Crisis online, so I dumped the Lockjaws for Beast, Furry Blue Scientist. But I want to have Stark Armory online. I think I'm going to focus on trying to keep the 3-drop Iron Man around and exploit his effect. Updated list below.

Characters: 32
4x Jaime Reyes <> Blue Beetle, High-Tech Hero
4x Beast, Furry Blue Scientist
4x San, The Alienated One
3x Dr. Strange, Secret Avenger
3x Mr. Fantastic, Protector of the Power Gem
4x Iron Man, Earth-2020
4x Iron Man, Mighty Avenger
2x Iron Man, Ultimates
1x Iron Man, Protector of the Reality Gem
2x Iron Man, Invincible
1x Iron Man, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plot Twists: 14
3x Uncertain Legacy
4x Secret Government
4x Crisis on Infinite Earths, Team-Up
3x Cover Fire

Locations: 7
4x Stark Armory
3x New Baxter Building

Equipment:
4x Extremis Upgrade
2x Hulkbuster Armor
1x Mind Gem

Total Cards: 60

If you're going to be running the Iron Man with shift, I'd consider throwing in "No More Mr. Nice Guy". Its a great card for that extra boost.

Needs The Captain. Card draw and gives you an out if you miss Crisis.

Also, as stated, No More Mr. Nice Guy works well. You'd get more out of it than Stark Armory. Also gives you a draw engine with We Can Rebuild Him and Vision.

I believe Night Thrasher and 3 drop MHG Dr. Doom belong in this deck. Beast is not a bad TeamUp search, but there are lots of characters in this deck that are not Avengers, which will cause consistency issues.

Night Thrasher's boost requirement is far easier to satisfy, and does the same thing. As for Doom, someone once told me that "he is rocket sauce for any deck." This is no exception. He can search up Crisis if you missed Thrasher. That's basically 12 Crisis' in your deck, and then, Doom is just a bonus if you already have Crisis to get any other plot twist.

Trying to clone out Iron Men starting on turn 3 is probably going to lead to consistency problems, although the addition of Thrasher should help mitigate some of that.

Also, if you plan on hitting the 4 drop MUN Iron Man every game, Code White is superior to Cover Fire in my opinion, because you retain board more easily with this card and your guys get bigger.

I would also cut Dr. Strange to make room for some of these card choices, as well as using EomE instead of Secret Government.
