From what I've gathered, quite a few members if this community read and collect comics, so I want to know: What are you guys reading? Are you happy with the way your favorite series are being handled? Is there anything you would recommend? I'll go first. Ongoing - Uncanny X-Men The Flash Batman Beyond Batman and Robin Superior Kick-Ass Morning Glories The Walking Dead Limited Series - 27 Daredevil Reborn Wolverine and Jubilee For the most part I'm pretty happy with everything on the list. I'm really happy that Batman Beyond finally got a full series, as I've always been a big fan of the show. I'm enjoying the simplicity in The Flash, and The Walking Dead is always great. I'm not so sure about Superior. It is a pretty big Superman/Captain Marvel rip-off, and there is a lot of uncalled for swearing (From Mark Miller? No way!) but the end of each issue keeps me interested enough to keep coming back. I'm also catching up on older stuff. I've been looking into the Fantastic Four lately and I just got into Y: The Last Man and I love it. So. What about you guys? |

I've been reading DC Comics my whole life, but I only buy trades, because I am a book guy and I love holding a big chunk of comics in my hand. But I really only follow Morrison's Batman at the moment. The Return of Bruce Wayne is my favourite comic ever (used to be The Long Halloween), and I was really sad that Batman Inc #3 was delayed :(. |

So did you drop Batman and Robin when Morrison left? Morrison is writing Batman Inc. And... Regular Batman right? But there's also Batman Dark Knight (I think?) and Detective Comics, too. It's Deadpool fever all over again... But with Batman. |

I read 17 but it was awful, so yeah, pretty much. Morrison is only doing Inc... Batman is Tony Daniel, and Detective Comics is Scott Snyder. |

It would almost be easier for me to list what I DON'T pull. I drop over $50 a week most weeks. I need an intervention. |

Rather easy for me to list. I only buy comics involving Marvel Zombies or TPB's of books I enjoyed as a kid (Batman: Venom, Death of Superman, Batman: The Killing Joke, Onslaught saga, etc...). Although I am tempted to start picking up The Walking Dead TPB. That is a phenomenal series from what I have read thus far and the show is in my Top 3 favorites of all time. What can I say I am a Zombie guy. later, Kj |

My regular pull list right now is Ongoings Captain America Thor Secret Avengers Journey Into Mystery (solicited, not out yet) Thor: The Mighty Avenger I was actually on the fence to drop Thor (which makes me very sad, I have a full run dating back to volume 2), but I will be sticking around with the announcement that Coipel is coming back to the title. I will put up with Fraction's not-that-great story telling (don't care for his current arc at all) for Coipel's art. And Journey Into Mystery will have Kieron Gillen exploring the rest of the Asgardian world, and since I consider him the "next coming of Simonson", I'm pumped for that. I'm also on the fence with Secret Avengers, though the second arc has been better than the first. Even though it is now done, considering it was one of the best Thor books I've ever read, I still had to give an honorary mention to Thor: The Mighty Avenger. If only I had picked it up earlier to help boost it's sales to avoid cancellation; that will forever by my shame. Mini-Series Avengers: Children's Crusade Thunderstrike I just wrapped up Chaos War and Avengers Prime (or will when I get to the LCS), and thank goodness since both were terrible (at least Prime had Alan Davis' gorgeous art). TPBS Daredevil Fables The Cosmic Titles (waiting for the hardcover of Thanos Imperative right now) I will pick up absolutely anything with Alpha Flight in it, or Beta Ray Bill. And I usually have a couple of mini's on the go, if it strikes my fancy. I also pick up the odd run or tpb here and there; I recently got the Spider-Man/Fantastic Four mini-series and it was excellent. |

Haha, yeah, I dropped that around #10 when I saw that it was much easier to just read summaries online to see what was going on in the DC Universe.
I liked Merc With A Mouth but Deadpool has been oversaturated BIG TIME. Luckily he isn't hogging as much shelf space as he was a few months ago but still, there's too much of him. Speaking of which, I guess that's one thing I forgot in my list; recently dropped stuff. I've been a Spider-Man fan my entire life. He was my hero as a kid, and I love the old stuff to death, but ever since Quesda stuck his finger in the pie, the character has been ruined. I tried to just accept the changes and enjoy some stories like Gauntlet, Shed, etc. but the whole Mephisto thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It just isn't the same. I've also been flip-flopping on the X-Books. I only want one X-Title a month, but there's Uncanny, Astonishing, and Legacy. It's hard to pick which one is right for me. @Hatman, I saw that there was a Cap mini-series (Cap: Patriot?) that was supposed to be really good. Have you read it? |

I haven't picked up the Patriot mini-series, no. I'm not sure if that one is about Steve Rogers or about Isaih Bradly (don't quote me on the name, I might have that wrong), the "black Captain America" that is the grandfather of Patriot (Young Avengers). I could be way off base, I didn't look very closely at the series. |

You hit the nail on the head, my friend. In fact, Spidey topped my Top 10 most disappointing Comics of 2010 list. Edited by carlosthedwarf, Feb 3 2011, 08:25 PM.

I used to be a huge Spider-Man fan. I grew up reading him, and Spidey grew up right with me. Amazing Spider-Man #400, the death of Aunt May, was one of the most emotional comics I've ever read. Then they brought back Aunt May from the dead, erasing one of the greatest single issue of comics ever, and I stopped reading Spider-Man. Over time, the would healed, and I lived in the city with a comic book store within a short distance. I thought maybe I would finally forgive and forget and come back to the Web-Slinger. I kid you not, the month I decided to get back into Spider-Man, we learned that Norman Osborn had impregnated Gwen Stacey. I was so disgusted by the very notion I resumed my Spider-boycott before it even ended. Again, I thought I'd finally come back, and then Peter made a deal with Mephisto and sacrificed his marriage to Mary Jane. The Spider-Boycott was again not lifted, and I highly doubt I will ever come back to the character's regular book again. I do pick up the odd Spider-related book here and there; I recently read the Spider-Man/Fantastic Four mini-series and it was excellent. Spider-Man/Human Torch, by Dan Slott and Ty Templeton, remains one of the funniest mini's I've ever read. But as far as Spidey's main book, I will most likely never be back. My Spider-Man died a long time ago.

I watched the television show, loved it, and then checked out the comics. I bought the first two softcover trades, just to see if I liked it. I thought there were things about the television that were actually superior to the comic. They were certainly a bit different. I bought the second hardcover (which contains 12 issues as opposed to the six in the softcover) regardless. From then on, I was pretty much hooked. I recently finished reading the sixth hardcover and will have to wait until later in the year for the seventh to come out. It's harrowing stuff. Horrible and miserable in all the best ways. If you buy it, I suggest the hardcovers - they just look nicer. I regret not having the first hardcover now. |

Yeah, at first the over-saturation of DP was like a bad joke that was so bad it was almost funny. In my experience most comic shops are pretty "helpful" in pulling out new titles related to ones you're picking up. So, if you're getting Green Lantern and GLC, they'll usually pull something like Emerald Warriors for you even if you didn't ask for it (you're not obligated to buy it, of course, but like most people curiosity plus the desire to not seem rude often meant I at least checked out the first issue or two). So it happened with DP. MwaM was so good that when they pulled another one it was like "more DP the better". Then there was another and you think "this is getting a bit silly". Then it's "oh, I get it ... they're taking the piss". Then it's like "hang on a minute, this joke is getting expensive", especially as "most of these books are utter crap". I figured they couldn't really make a mistake like this again after numerous earlier lessons. Which means they did it fully aware that they were just ripping you for as much money as possible. Which kind of sucks, because you wish they cared about their "products" as much as the average fan does and would aim for a higher level of quality. Deadpool Team-Up, for example, could have actually been a great title, but it's just a dumping ground for bad stories and sub-standard art, featuring not-even-fringe characters that no one either knows about or likes. You might get one good story out of six issues. It was like an experiment in how crappy you can make a book and still have people buy it. |

Shouldn't Superman be punching out Joe Quesada instead? Mephisto is merely a patsy ... a scapegoat ... a puppet. Look into the face of true evil - ![]() I liked him more when he created a pretty, but nearly incomprehensible comic called Ash. Hahaha. |
