Bummer, Hatman. You missed some decent stuf in between Aunt May coming back and the whole "Grey Goblin" thing. I actually really liked the book when John Romita Jr. was drawing it. Some people were really against all the Ezekial stuff, but I dug it. |

Meh, like I said, it's not my Spider-Man anymore. I used to be a big JRJR fan, back during his Amazing run with Stern. I didn't read them when they were new, they were reprints/back issues, but I thought his work was great. Then he switched to the blocky/sketchy style and I can't stand it. He's not as blocky as he used to be, but it's still really sketchy and unpolished and I just don't like it. That being said, I do think that JRJR is one of the best storytellers in the business; I can always tell what is happening in the book, and could probably do so without dialogue and captions. I hate it when a book comes out and I have to read the "Previously In" page of the following issue to figure out what the hell happened. |

I don't feel like I need to make another thread for this, but while we're here discussing comics, does anyone have anything rare or special in their collection? Maybe just something that's special to you, personally? Like maybe your first comic or something? |

Probably the oldest things I have are some low # issues of JLA, including this one (#6):![]() I've got others in the teens and twenties. I've got the first appearance of Punisher, the first appearance of Hawkeye, the first appearance of Iron Fist, and - of course - the first appearance of Alpha Flight.

Man, those are pretty nice finds, Carlos! I bet some of those ran you a pretty penny. A friend of mine is a Punisher fanatic and he said Punisher's first appearence was upwards of $500! I don't have anything that rare, but when I have the time I'll post some of my favorites in my collection! Edited by PunkKnuckles, Feb 5 2011, 02:29 AM.

I have a few book that are special to me. I have the first full appearance of Alpha Flight (not their last page cameo first appearance...yet), which I got from Tom Brevoort in a trade. The oldest comic I own is a copy of Avengers #10, the first appearance of Immortus. Again, I got it from Tom Brevoort in a trade; unfortunately someone else got the first appearance of the Kooky Quartet before I could get it, so I settled for Immortus. I have the first 6 issues of the New Teen Titans (Wolfman/Perez) that I had autographed by Wolfman a couple of years ago at a convention, which means my first appearance of Deathstroke is autographed! I also bought a script off of him and had him autograph it, as well as the actual issue of the book too (I went to a booth and bought it and brought it back to have the matching signed set). Avengers #201 features an awesome solo Jarvis story, as well as one of my favourite covers ever. I bought this issue at a convention because I love Jarvis that much. I really wish he wasn't an AI in the Avengers movie/cartoon universe. |

Man, you guys have way cooler stuff than I do. That's it. I'm going to Comic-Con this year and getting some stuff. I say that every year, but this time I mean it.
Story time: My friend, his brother and I went to their grandmother's house a while back to help move some stuff, and while looking in the closet of her deceased son's room, my friend's brother and I found a huge comics collection, including the entire run of New Teen Titans, New Mutants, the entire "Days of Future Past" story line and a lot of other cool stuff. I was this close to offering to buy the lot, but, you know, it was her son's, so I couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Anyway, nothing special, but here are some noteworthy spots in my collection. ![]() The first comic I ever got! I know what you're thinking. "An issue of Spider-Man right in the middle of the clone saga and yet he still collects to this day..." It amazes me, too. ![]() One of my favorite single issues, and probably my most "noteworthy" single that I have. ![]() First appearence of one of my favorite characters, Tim Drake!! ![]() A little souvineer from Marvel Super Hero island. I met Spider-Man there. That blew my mind as a kid... ![]() My reference material. Wikipedia is for noobs. |

well I USE to have a copy of Amazing number 1 and 6 but i sold those, inherited them one of my step dads. when i was younger i totally thought my Superman 75, Amazing 300, Spiderman 1, Spawn 1, Batman 500. Then when i got older i realized that everyone else as well had those issues and i sold them or they were misplaced throughout the ages. I guess my nearly complete run of Titans i have from about 1980 to 1994 New titans - complete up to Zero hour, there are issues after those but they were so bad, well the whole thing had gone bad but jeez i just dont even want to look for them. I have the first one signed by George Perez. My Gl Rebirth Mini that i have signed by EVS, Johns, and Moose (hes the colorist) |

The oldest comic I have is a Silver Surfer Vol 2 #6ish from the '60s. It's far from mint, but I like it. |

Haha, yeah, when I was a kid my cousins gave me all four alt. covers of X-Men #1 from the 90's and I thought they were super valuable for years... |

Sorry to bump an old thread but I was just curious as to what you guys are reading now and such. Recently I've picked up Starborn and Hawkeye: Blindspot. Starborn is interesting, if a little out of my normal realm of fiction. I'm liking Blindspot and am glad that Clint has been getting a little spotlight. He's always been a favorite. I'm thinking of dropping some of my DC books. Teen Titans has lost it's appeal to me now that Damien is gone, Batman and Robin is just... Dumb and I've heard Flash will be getting canned soon. Any thoughts on those? Also, Kick-Ass has finally gotten some new issues... Slowly. I'm not entirely sure I like the new direction it has been going in... Spoiler: click to toggle So anyway.. What are you guys reading now? |

Just posted this today on another board. :) Secret Avengers - Considering dropping it since it is basically a Steve Rogers solo book with guest stars. Thor - Only Coipel returning is keeping me on the Mighty Thor relaunch since Fraction has been terrible. Journey Into Mystery - So excited to get the first issue of this this week-end! Captain America - When Brubaker leaves I'll probably drop it, but I love how he's weaved everything together throughout his run, always building to something else. Avengers: Children's Crusade - I regret getting this actually but I hate having incomplete stories so I'll finish it. Alpha Flight - Waiting for the relaunch with Pak and Eaglesham, already got myself marked down. Hawkeye Blindspot - I didn't even know this was coming out but my LCS put it aside for me, very solid story. In tpb form I collect Daredevil (all the way back to the Smith/Quesada relaunch), Fables and Jack of Fables regularly, as well as the cosmic titles. |

I'm still getting the same stuff. Just got the last Deadpool Corps - good riddance. What started out cool and funny overstayed its welcome by a long stretch. Can't wait for Brightest Day to finally end. Meh. On the bright side, I'm enjoying the War of the Lanterns storyline. |
