60 Card Minimum No more than 4 of any card without the version "Army" or of any card that does not otherwise specifically state how many copies of that card a deck may contain. Cards with the version "Army" are not unique and a deck may contain any number of them. Did I miss anything? |

My vote is that theme carry some heavy weight with this. I'd much prefer to see a solid Invisible Woman deck that doesn't rely on fate artifacts or Dual Sidearms for the win (just a random, horrible example there). Instead, it uses her legends cards and maybe some help from her little bro (R.I.P.)...even if it means it's not quite as powerful as an equipment version of her deck (again - random, horrible example).

I like the idea of going with a theme for the Legends Decks. That's the other reason I suggested pairing with the Doom Patrol for the Beast Boy Legends deck. |

I also wonder if we'd consider a single deck for 2 Legend characters? I have 2 already built, my "Steve and Tony" deck and a Luke Cage/Iron Fist deck. |

Yeah - good question, Hat. I have a couple of "duals" that I really like, but it seems like this round is more for solo. Perhaps we save those for next time? |

Yeah, I don't care either way, just wondering what the stipulation is. It would make for less work! :) |

I think duals should be separate....and they should make sense. Cap/Ironman is good, sue storm/darkseid not so much. CC |

I'll put this at the top of each thread: This thread is for the _____ Legend. The goal of this deck is to... 1) Focus on the Legend as much as possible. 2) Use as many of their Legend cards as possible unless they simply don't work in the deck. 3) Avoid other Legend cards unless they're necessary for deck cohesion. |

What exactly counts as a legend card? If identities don't count, which for the official format they don't, I think there are at least a couple of decks that are problematic: Dr Fate and Katar Hol. Dr. Fate: The artifacts don't mention him by name, so I assume they don't count. Dr Fate's Tower has his name in it, but doesn't actually refer to a character by that name. It could be called Ma Hunkel's Closet and work just the same. So I don't know if that counts. Fate Has Spoken appears to count, so it looks like the options are that, the Shadowpact 6-drop, and the two 8-drops. Which means at least four copies of the 8-drop. If identities count, the helmet counts, which makes the deck viable. (It states equipped character gains the identity Dr Fate.) Katar Hol: Four options here: two 3-drops and two 4-drops. Since he's ally-riffic, spare copies aren't as bad a thing. But a Hawkman identity legend deck is a lot more doable (2-drop, 4-drop, 5-drop all in JSA). I'm probably the only guy on the board that's actually put all 12 cards that reference Katar Hol in a deck. Even I didn't think it worked. :) So, now someone will probably swoop in and post one that works, and I will look silly. Assuming Dr. Fate's Tower counts for happening to have his name in it, I had a Dr. Fate legend deck with four identities total in it: Fate, Phantom Stranger, Hawkman, Hawkgirl. HomerJ might remember it; I brought it to his group once. I think I did have a bunch of copies of the 8-drop JSA version, but the idea was to power up Fated-up Carter Hall while Katar was on the field so I could do it via identity. I'm sure there are plenty of others with similar problems, and really JLA/JSA have some advantage in having to run spare copies of characters that someone like Catwoman isn't going to have. Come to think of it, Joker's got serious issues too, since a lot of the cards that go with him are Insanity. |

Dr. Fate should be easier than he at first appears. I think the Helm of Nabu counts, because mentioning the chosen name in a card's text doesn't require any particular context, as far as I know. I don't think the 6 drop counts. The unaffiliated 5 drop that gains the identity Dr. Fate counts, because again, the name is mentioned in his game text. Under this same reasoning Fate Has spoken counts. That should be enough to meet the requirements and still have something vaguely resembling a deck, namely you don't need to pack the damn thing with 8 drops. I do agree that Katar is a big problem. I can't think of a way to crack it. The Joker is doable, but I think you end up playing Injustice Gang, because the good Arkham Joker is Insanity and therefore unplayable in the format. |

Not sure which 5 and 6 drops you mean. DCR-050 is Dr. Fate, version Hector Hall. He counts. DCR-181 is Mordru, an unaffiliated 5-drop that gains an affiliation and an identity when he enters play. He's wearing Fate's costume minus the helmet, but there's no reference other than visual. Since none of the Katars' powers are team-stamped, I guess one could do a sort of Crisis of Infinite Hawks thing. Which would be pretty theme, for hawks. |
