@Darklich528, Can you post your list or PM it to me? I would love to see it and use it as a starting point for mine. Thanks! |

@mrmaul558 - No it doesn't; It might defeat your purpose for the cube. But I think the main purpose of a cube is to create a reusable draft pool to have fun with. My friend decided to try and mimic "real" packs. Your cube might be a "only the best cards" cube, but I don't think that is the only way to build them. And certainly in Vs. it is a lot harder to include all "the best" cards due to the large number of teams/themes these are split accross. |

It's true that the purpose of the Cube is to create a reusable draft pool to have fun with. But I think the point Mr. Maul is trying to make though is that rarity is more or less irrelevant when determining the raw power of a card. J. Jonah Jameson, anyone? I'd rather take Teen Titans Go! than pretty much any other rare TT card out there. So putting an arbitrary restriction of 1 rare per pack doesn't seem that great for balancing issues, but if you can make it work than awesome. My personal and humble opinion is that I build a Cube to use all the best and personal favorite cards I can. Using "real" packs doesn't accomplish this, If I wanted "real" packs I would just take my favorite set, crack a box, and sleeve all the cards up into a Cube. I of course want to reiterate that your way isn't wrong or any less fun at all. You probably won't find much use out of the list below though, which uses my own personal Cube philosophy. Anyway, someone asked for a sample list of my Vs. Cube, so follow this link to take a look: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showpost.php?p=4954491&postcount=1 Despite going through a couple of different iterations, it's still a work in progress, but you might be able to pull a few ideas at least. Thanks for reading! |

I guess I should've clarified; This defeats the standard purpose of Cube, standard being the original purpose of cube and what the majority of Cube players use. Of course, that isn't to say that specialized Cubes don't exist or aren't fun (I know of a cube that is built around 1 specific MTG card and allows as many as you want in your deck, and you draft around that particular strategy). Yes, this isn't the only way to build them, but its considered the "norm", because most people want something different than regular drafting. Of course, you (or anyone else) can build however you want to. :) |

There needs to be more cube discussion going on indeed. I posted in your thread, dl. I'm of the opinion that the cube should be as strong as it can be rather than simulate an actual ude vs draft. I don't think it's wrong to do it either way, I just think slingin' stronger cardboard around would be more fun. |

Agreed. Would also venture to say that any cubes that simulate actual drafts would be classified as "specialty" by most cubers. Not that that means worse by any means, just not what most cubers are looking for. |

I think we need to figure out a way to get the rest of these team packs built. In a week or so I can resume working on a few. I'm looking forward to building this for real life when I get back home.

So back from a hiatus, I've been thinking about my Cube and after playing it multiple times I've made a few updates. (Link is 3rd post down on this page) I'd like to get more discussion going on Vs. System Cubing! Has anyone built a Cube yet? What are your experiences? After playing the Cube multiple times now, I've compiled what I think the top 3 cards are for each section, in hopes to get some discussion going. Without further adiou... X-Men: #1 Iceman, Jack Frost #2 Rogue, Powerhouse #3 Sage, Earth 616 Brotherhood: #1 The New Brotherhood #2 Pyro, Hot Topic #3 Sabretooth, Feral Rage Doom: (Really strong team btw) #1 Divinity, Vampiric General (oh yes) #2 Dr. Doom, Diabolic Genius #3 Devil's Due (ya) FF: #1 It's Clobberin' Time #2 Thing, Heavy Hitter #3 Human Torch, Nova Blast (results may vary) Gotham Knights: #1 Batman, Founding Member #2 Batcomputer (lol ya) #3 Ahmed Samsarra, White King (results may vary) TT: #1 Roy Harper, Arsenal (might be best card in cube...) #2 Teen Titans Go! #3 Red Star, Leonid Kovar "Other teams" Too many to list but... #1 Wolverine, Agent of SHIELD, Hydra (If you can get this guy out on T3-4 and pick up a few pumps you will have a hard time losing) #2 Dr. Light, Master of Holograms (The number of tricks you can pull with this guy is insane) #3 Nenora, Skrull Usuper (Free teamup for everyone, even unaffiliated guys, and is hidden to boot...very strong) Now then, I was also hoping to get some more work done on the Cosmic Cube. (still has a lot of work to go!) I will try filling in what I can over the next couple of weeks as I get some spare time at work. Keep it up guys!! Edited by Darklich528, Jun 30 2011, 09:25 PM.

Hey guys, been gone for a while. Has anyone here put together a cube and be willing to share lists/experiences? (Other than Darklich, as we already have his list. :P ) |

I cube at lot for Magic. Do you guys want volunteers for making Team Packs? I could try my hand at one of those. If I can get more people around here interested, we might make a cube for this, too! :) |

I was reminded of this by a PM. The way we draft our cube is with a face-up drafting style (similar to this cube: http://pokecube.com/). It really helps with making sure people don't get screwed randomly (skill is still a huge factor, though.)

I think there are two ways of doing a cube. 1. have a 480 card set, 7 packs of 60 for each team and 1 pack for generic. shuffle those all together and make 20 card packs. 2. Make a 60 card set for each viable team, assign each team a number for a 20 sided die, roll it 7 times, use those teams and do what you would do in the way above. |
