For one cube I am building I am using the "Super Cross-over draft format". Super Crossover Sealed: Modification of the Sealed Pack format when using packs from various different sets. Affiliated characters and character cards have all affiliations. Note: Cards that count affiliations, like Ethan Edwards and Lyja, Mrs. Johnny Storm, count the number of printed affiliations instead. One colored Magic! |

Yeah, that certainly sounds like an interesting way to do it, but then it just becomes "draft the best card" rather than actually having a "real", interesting draft. Also, 20 card packs? What?! |

With the recent announcement, I'm back from a long hiatus (I think my last post was in 2011?) and getting back into this amazing game once again. None of the people I'm going to be playing with are interested in spending money to buy cards right now, (even in LCG format) so once again I've set my sights on building a cube. Since my last post, I've adopted an entirely new philosophy on cubing Vs. A couple of changes since my last iteration: 1) Team Stamped team-ups seemed like a good idea on paper, but ended up being terrible in practice. Because of the nature of cube and a limited format, something like Marvel Crossover is going to fit into basically any deck while The Brave and The Bold, only one. And even in that deck, you're probably going to have a few off team characters. Despite drawing a card, fitting into more decks and being able to team-up any two teams was vastly superior. 2) Only one copy of important cards isn't enough. This is a big change for me, but I'm testing it now to awesome results. There are a couple of reasons for this, one: there aren't enough characters in the entirety of Vs. where in a 360+ card singleton cube you aren't going to have underwhelming characters. Underwhelming characters are a real drag, almost always get picked last, and basically the only thing they have going for them is the team stamp. With enough generic team-ups (so piggybacking on the change above), this is much less of an issue. Two, having multiple copies of awesome, team defining cards makes packs interesting. Do I pick Lost City or Roy Harper <> Arsenal, Sharpshooter or Savage Beatdown? Third, and certainly not least, Vs. was a game intended for multiples. It makes drops more consistent (missing a drop in Vs., like getting land screwed in Magic, is a real bummer), it makes powering-up an actual thing (which makes combat more exciting) and allows for legendary support. All of these are good things. Magic cubes can get away with being singleton because there are 15,000+ unique cards printed. 3) I've abandoned conforming to a particular team size. It makes sense that Dr. Doom would have more cards than a Hulk team, so that's what I did. Certain teams have more plot twists, and that's fine too. Unlike Magic where your Izzet deck isn't going to support Cloudthresher, you can still add in nearly any character from any team to your deck. 4) Coinciding with the above change, I've cut out loyalty characters unless the character is a cut above. In this way, it doesn't pigeonhole you into a particular team too early. Anyway, the reason for this post is to get some more discussion going on Vs. System cubing. Is anyone still interested in it? What insights and experience do other people have? Let's keep the game alive! Edited by Darklich528, Mar 18 2015, 07:04 PM.

I've only just completed my cube (based on yours, darklich). I'm wondering how many of each multiple you plan on using? I'm not sure how I feel about breaking out of singleton. I'm also not sure if I'm gonna impliment the new cards or not. |

I'm also planning on cutting Fan4 for JLA. Their overarching power-up theme supports a huge amount of the cube. I've just been thinking of the team stamped Team-Ups as sort of the multicolored section tbh Edited by Bionic Arm, Mar 18 2015, 07:17 PM.

I've also cut FF, even though with multiples they become the team they were meant to be. I just don't support equips anymore really so they got the axe. With 4x Mobilize, 4x Enemy of my Enemy and 4x Straight to the Grave, you don't necessarily need teams with character tutors. I'm not including tutors for Teen Titans, for example. Like constructed Vs., I have included between 1-4 copies of any particular card. For reference, my new cube is 450 cards and includes Doom, Teen Titans, Brotherhood, Gotham Knights, Avengers, Hulk and a small number of other characters that are awesome but not those teams. |

You probably have better experience than I. I've only done a few Winston drafts with my brother so far but I was gonna bring it to the next meet up here.
