Our quest continues to see if every card has a purpose in the VS System world, with the DC Origins Limited Playset Tournament! Like our Marvel Origins Playset Tournament previously, we made decks using only a playset (4 copies) of each card from the DOR set. This came to 660 cards, which divided neatly into 11 Decks. Arkham Inmates Arkham Inmates: Rigged Elections Brave and the Bold (Gotham Knights/Teen Titans teamup) Fearsome Five (with some Unaffiliated help) Gotham Knights Homeless (Unaffiliated & Deathstroke) League of Assassins My Beloved (Gotham Knights/League of Assassins teamup) Teen Titans Teen Titans: KO Pile (Using Phantasm, Tempest and Starfire) Tupperware (All the leftovers, but with Worlds Finest teamup cards) We randomly seeded these decks and had them square off in a Double Elimination Tournament at our house on Saturday. Several attendees that where just there for food and fun and watching their friends participate have decided they want in on the fun next month (in the Web of Spider Man Limited Playset Tourney), so that is encouraging as well. And now for the results. In breaking with my last report, I am not going to give a blow by blow description. I still witnessed every match and wrote every recruit and plot twist and attack (for my records to see if every card can be used), but I don't want to bore potential readers, so I will go with match result and the turn I felt the tide was turned. Thanks for reading! |

Match 1: Arkham Rigged Elections (Andy) vs My Beloved (AJ) Result: Rigged Elections 13, My Beloved -11 Turning Point: This match was never more than 2 points of endurance apart until turn 7. Rigged Elections recruited 7 drop Joker, while My Beloved (who incidentally is piloted by my actual beloved) Only got 5 drop Batman and 2 drop Tim Drake out. The Joker hits Batman for 5 (reinforced), Bane attacks Ras al Ghul (KOing Bats) for 9, and Man Bat thrashes Tim for 9. 23-0 in turn 7 for Rigged Elections gives them the match. |

Match 2: Arkham Inmates (Andy) vs Tupperware (Brennan) Result: Arkham Inmates 17, Tupperware -18 Turning Point: Turn 7, Starting the turn trailing 28-19, Arkham Inmates recruit The Joker (7 drop) and Tupperware only manages King Snake (1) and Wildebeest (2) - The Joker discards a 1 drop to stun King Snake, taking 2 in response, The Joker beats 6 drop Dick Grayson for 7, Bane pounds Hassim (Koing Dick) for 12. Arkham went up 17-8 in route to the win. Brennan decided to try piloting the Tupperware deck after winning the Marvel Origins Tournament, so we have ruled that the previous Tourney Champion must take the reins of Tupperware in the following Tournament. |
