Did I miss this thread somewhere? Did anyone see the movie? $65mil is decent for opening weekend... although Fast Five did $90mil last weekend. Did anyone catch "Almighty Thor" on SyFy? |

We went and saw it Saturday morning before picking up our free comics. The whole family greatly enjoyed it, good mix of Asgard and Earth, humor and action. I really liked the actor who played Loki, and it was cool to get a preview of "Barton" |

Going on Wednesday! Would have gone for the midnight showing, but the wife would've shot me if I made a special 2 hour (one way) trip to the theatre with a 2 week old at home. I have to go to the city for a meeting on Wednesday so since I'm already there I've been granted permission to see it while I'm in! I will now avoid this thread until Thursday to avoid spoilers. :) |

I'll watch it when it hits Blu Ray. However I will be seeing Fast Five at the theaters. I enjoy fast cars and possibly a crappy story way more than I could ever care about Thor. haha. Never been a fan of him, Kj |

My Thor-pinion is here. (But in short - I liked it much more than I thought I would because, like KJ, Thor has never been one of my favorites.)

I saw it in IMAX 3-D (16 bucks per ticket!) and enjoyed it for the most part. Quick rundown for discussion's sake. Good - Casting and acting. - Dialogue. (I was a afraid there would be a lot of olde English) - Effects. Asgard in 3-D was MIND BLOWING. - Cameos/Easter eggs. A true Marvel fan had a lot to look out for in this one. Bad - Writing/Character development. Thor goes from jerk to hero way too quickly, and his relationship with the human characters seemed EXTREMELY forced. I wasn't buying their chemistry at all. - Action left a bit to be desired. I would have liked to see Thor and Loki fight a little bit more. Overall I enjoyed it, but I think it had its faults. 7/10. |

I agree with Punks rating (6.5-7 range). The relationship had no time to develop, yet they make it seem like it was epic in the final scene. ![]() Loki was well played. He was not obnoxious like I was worried about. Odin was great as well (when isn't AH?) Thor was cast out for being arrogant; the next scene he's mister noble? Dumb. The action was pretty decent. The 3-D effects were not worth the extra ticket price. They were extremely minimal. I saw it in both 2-D and 3-D with two different groups, and I didn't even notice the difference. Overall, the only real peeve was the relationship. Why couldn't they have just left it a friendship, and not a love interest (maybe develop it in a later movie). 2-3 scenes to develop a love interest is detracts from the movie instead of adds to it. It definately falls below Iron Man I, Spider-Man I and II, and X-Men I and II for Marvel movies; but is better than X-Men III, Wolverine, and Iron Man II. Obviously that's just my opinion though. |

Saw it and liked it more than I thought I would I thought the casting was good Development of characters and relationships was way to quick jane spent moree time taking thor to the hospital and going back to get him then actually talking to him loved the cg but 3-d sucked Worse than ironman 1 and spiderman 1 same as the newer hulk movie (the older one is an abomination and I don't mean that as a joke) and better than all the other marvell movies Overall I was afraid of the movie being as stupid as most of the thor comics( always had a problem with a divine being fighting muggers, seems over kill and boring). I was pleasantly suprised at how much I enjoyed it My rating 7.5 Edited by Vader, May 12 2011, 12:10 AM.

I enjoyed it also. I too thought the "love story" was extraneous and unnecessary. As for the development of the Loki/Thor interaction, I thought they did well enough with the interrogation room scene. Thor was really basing his anger off of that deception because he wasn't privy to Spoiler: click to toggle It's unfortunate they'll have to use some of the Avengers screentime figuring out how to get him back, but I look forward to that as well. Some people complained about how he "flipped the switch" but I thought it was done well. Spoiler: click to toggle |

Eh the whole love scene perhaps was portmans character just wanting to jump the bones of the giant dude that landed in her lap. Portman + Kat Dennings = A movie i would pay to see. Yes i agree with most that thor seemed to flip a switch in himself that could have been pointed out a bit more. Yes he got some humility but a slight bit more time could have focused on that. Overall i enjoyed the movie a lot. I agree that its on the level with Incredible Hulk, which wasnt a bad movie, but still wasnt the greatest. on a grade scale i say a solid B. Though to remember i feel a issue is that Thor, Hulk, and perhaps Cap America all have a very Formula intro feel to them as movies. Ironman was awesome but it was also first to use the formula of the marvel studios movies. Hopefully Cap doesnt try to tap that well again. |

Actually, I did stay until after the credits but that was one of the easter eggs Punk talked about. It wasn't explicitly a solution to the bridge problem. |
