We just got done opening a couple of new boxes of vs cards and ran into a hot box of DOR. The box had 127 rares!

Has anyone else experienced this with DOR or any other sets from vs system? If so, how common is this to get a hotbox?

A friend of mine has an online cardgame store here in Holland and when MTU came out he had about ~10 boxes filled with foil rares (only the regular foil seemed to be rare/unc/common normal each pack)
Dunno if thats called hotbox ;)
I netted me 2 of those boxes and i know atleast 3 other players in our community found a few of their boxes like this too.
Greetings

MOR and DOR are notorious for having mis-packaged packs. I once pulled a MOR pack that had 4 rares. One of which was foil.

This is my first experience ever pulling stuff like that. The most I've gotten before is 2 rares in a pack. With this box though it was a minimum of 4 rares per pack, and normally it was 6 rares. We got at least 2 of every DOR rare, and 3 of's of a lot of them.

Very strange. Anyone else had this happen with anything other than DOR and MOR?

We had a box of MTU where all commons were replaced with foil uncommons and the uncommon slots were the commons. Weirdest draft ever, ended up with 5 unplayable Strange Loves because I didn't open a teamup :).

That would be strange. When we opened the DOR box, three people were opening, and one of our guys opened the first pack saying, I got 2 rares, no 3, 4... 6 rares! We thought it was a freak pack, then opened another and realized the whole box was crazy. Crazy good, so we can't complain.

So, anything outside of MOR, DOR and MTU for weird boxes?

We tried to draft with a box of DOR like that....I mean we were happy yeah but uh ah a box of rares makes for some odd drafting.

Over the years, I've had lots of that sort of thing:

MOR: All uncommons were rares.
DOR: All uncommons were rares, and every pack ALSO had a foil rare (opened a whole case)
DSM: Every non-foil rare had an uncommon printed over the back, so you could see both the "VS SYSTEM" blue/grey back, and the art/text of the uncommon.
MAV: No rares, +1 uncommon
MTU: Every pack had an uncommon foil.
DWF: No uncommons. All commons and a rare.

Also, once opened a pack (not sure the set) that was all Insert cards, and was in a sealed event once (MXM) that anyone that opened a foil rare, had the same rare in their pack. My buddy opened (I shit you not) An EOME, a FOIL EOME, and then won an extended art EOME in the event. Like a $200 win, at the time.

I remember back at Gencon when the judges had to replace out a lot of packs during day 2 because of multi rare packs, draft took near forever.

Yea we had a draft like that with MOR but we all rolled with it. Definately challenging.

Oddly enough my friend opened a hot box of MOR. Im vaguely remember him opening close to a set of almost every valuable card in there.

Even more oddly enough I bought a box of DOR from the 1st batch of shipments and it was hot. Best $60 I ever spent.

We spent $22 on ours, got 129 rares (counted wrong earlier), so I think it was pretty profitable for us as well. (multiple Alfreds, Fizzle, Total Anarchy, Have a Blast, etc.)

In france, we had a famous experience
With this: some FRENCH MAV boxes series ( it mean LOT OF BOXES) were cracked , with around 5-6 rares per pack, but all shop
Had to return them to upperdeck! Some players were able to buy some of them before

Beastboy: Do you remember the hotbox of DC Gallery Packs during our last tournament in Paris?
That hotbox contained 6 super-rares (2 x Terra EA, 2 x Straight to the Grave EA and 2 x Willword EA). It was amazing b/c these super-rares were intended as 1 in every 4 boxes!

MTU: Every pack had an uncommon foil.
I think that MTU was the only set in which ALL packs had one foil (it was also written on the boosters). The weird thing is that all of them were of the same rarity, right?

Over the years, I've had lots of that sort of thing, too:

MOR: All uncommons were foil.
DOR: All boosters had 2 rares
MSM: All boosters had 14 foils (yes you read well, only foils)
DSM: Booster in Italian, rares in Spanish
MAV: Rares were only foils

I'm sure I had more but those were the most significative
